After you disable all the weapons on the ship, then you have to destroy the shield generators, then you have to crack through the hull

Sounds like you need a better ship. Try to find a class A ship. I have several of them.

My recommendation for weapons would be: the infra knife cannon, rocket launchers, and the photon Cannon

Infera knife Cannon is great for close range once you break the shield with the photon cannon

It's not very effective against shields, but against ship hulls it's very effective, especially if you supercharge it

You are put on a planet in a copper system with a minimal number of planets, at about 700k to 800k from center. While you WILL encounter three storms over the course of the start, these storms are the ONLY storms you will EVER encounter on this planet. And they are scripted. So if you're smart, you'll get survival gear before you start fixing your ship.

Trick is that you're facing a program, so use pets that have delayed damage event (unless foe has cleanse) and make sure that you don't go in with pets that are weak against the three he picked. So if he's bringing tropicals and ice critters, bring all poisons and fires.

I think most starships are smaller and more nimble, as well as come with preset designs (ie fighter, hauler, sailship), whereas Corvettes are more of a pick and chose what you want

As long as you have plenty of batteries and deal a decent amount of damage you should be able to take out sentinel motherships. Sure the hull is thick and it takes about 10 minutes to Chip away fully at it, but it can be done. It's definitely a boss fight let me put it that way

My Sentinel Interceptor is designed to punch holes into things. A mix of Infra-Knife and Positron means I don't have to aim at all.

There are a few combat encounters. Pirate starships may be one of the first ones you come across. Otherwise, on foot, sentinnels or abominations (big bugs), but those usually require some form of provokation most of the times

with that said, you can turn off combat encounters in the dificulty settings
