Yah, since you said "quick way", derelict freighter is not that quick, though if you ignore looting and just shoot your way through you can do them fairly faster. What folks do is find a system where the derelict has few/no enemies and then you maximize the "learning" path to find all compartments and just wade through over an over.

Glyphs and portals only work within the galaxy you are in. To get to another galaxy, you need to core jump, find a teleporter to someones base (like in tha anomaly) or have someone take you there, like a star cab

Once upon a time, there were more, but in the Great Change, maximum galaxy number was capped at 255 (core jumping there now takes you to Euclid=1) and only 256 was preserved as a legacy. But I had buddies who had built bases in 257 and 258 prior to the Great Change, if I recall those wound up in galaxies 2 and 3 after the Great Change. Galaxies above 256 now map to copies of galaxies 1 to 255 as I understand it, downloading the discovery database and bases, even if bigger numbers are used.

Lol, because back then galaxy hopping reportedly wiped everything out for you (when in fact I think it even then only just damaged your starship and your multitool) I actively avoided galaxy hopping in that save until 2020, other than visiting buddies in other galaxies. I didn't even know I'd visited Eissentam doing the Artemis quest until 2020, and actively avoided following the Atlas quest to another galaxy. (I did however get an Atlas Seed as I recall, a legacy object from the first version of the Atlas quest.)

the worst "dead end" system has to be the discovery sytem on planets

it has insane rewards both in nanites and in credits wich it has to have because the system is realy bad and so wiothout those insane rewards nobody would do it

Ah, that is a different issue. When fauna generation algo changes, older procgen fauna are "extinct" and new fauna are generated using the new algo. All older fauna would be extinct, not just diplos. The most publicized famous examples are the diplos of previou Galactic Hub capitols, which may be why you only thought it applied to diplos.

sometimes underground creatures spawn on surface. its because creatures dont actually spawn "underground", they spawn in "cave biom" that can actually be found on surface, like those dark stone "roads" or mountains

sometimes if you leave the planet and come back (to caverns) or come back after some time, or after a relog, the underground fauna spawns, even above \around the cave

Thats why it's a good thing to look for 'em at planetary buildings. Those tend to cut off the terrain at caves, and have more chance to find creatures

You need the survey device installed in your multitool, then you select what you are looking for : gas, mineral or power hotspots

X4 foundations is a actual sandbox but you still have a feeling of progression as you build more and more large projects

But NMS doesn't even have a large project

Also every game mechanic in NMS with the exception of maybe corvet building feels very shallow

It's the most straight forward implementation one can do and than it only gets you more nanites or more units

If it at least gave you let's say corvet parts or crafting materials

The quest is begun by purchasing a Void egg from the Quicksilver bot and then pulsing in space with it. It's timegated at each section, takes like a week to finish

Checked 7 ones of the same design yesterday, 2 had the same SC layout but the others had a bit of variety.

Not really. If you can take all five waves of a space sentinel fight and destroy the capital ship at wave five, you will get an item that will let you find a sentinel interceptor.

Harmonic camps are neat, but you can get interceptors if you can handle the fight

You can get a crashed sentinel ship really early on.
I did it with a recent save on my ps5 where I paused going through the story after reaching the anomaly.
Only need to end up fighting sentinel ships for the little side bit to come up.
