highly recommend you do the "north/south" thing. Even if the animal is not listed as such, it can make a difference with spawn rates. open your discovery menu to look at the picture of the globe.. you will see a GEOTAG symbol showing where you are N/S in relation to the globe.

no. high flyers are not tamable without mods and/or save edits. That said, there are high flyers people have save edited, and they can pass you an egg if you have multiplayer access. Ask in the trades channel, and be patient
