Well, you can make them of your own design, they can be your home, and I dramatically prefer the Admiral cockpit here to all other cockpits as far as the view it affords. I've not used any of my traditional ships since corvettes landed.

You have your living area, agricultural area, refining area, storage and everything else in between.

You also have your port with four or more landing pads. But even landing pads are less common to see since so many people are using Corvettes now..

There's a few ways. You can engage sentinel fighters in space and fight all five waves including the sentinel capital ship to get a carrier AI fragment that will point you to the nearest downed interceptor

The expedition is pretty fun, is kinda a bunch of fetch quests that'll earn you some exclusive rewards. You will end up with a pretty good ship that you can transfer to your main save if you start from the console in the anomaly

My rule of thumb is that once a new player unlocks the Nexus Anomaly in a normal mode game, they likely can try out an expedition (there is even a console in the Nexus Anomaly for starting the Expedition and if desired, switching that save back and forth from Expedition mode). So you can try it and switch back if you get overwhelmed. If you are comfortable in normal mode, you likely can handle Expeditions, though be aware some parts may be more challenging still, don't hold it against NMS if so.

Make sure you start learning with a Normal mode game, and follow the early (tutorial) quests to learn the basic mechanics. Ask questions in #nms-questions if you get stumped.

You can speed this up by upgrading buildings throughout the settlement. Not just the ones at the overseer terminal makes available to you. So you can always have upgrades going even when it hasn't given you one yet

So, every so often I see people suggest the idea of larger-scale conflicts against the sentinels, and I'm a bit tempted to the idea, but making it temporary

Mostly to show said players why none of the powers in the galaxy have gone to real war against the sentinels for millennia

I say a wider variety of robots especially end boss variants like the walker so its not the same exact fight every time, I'm looking at helldivers when I say this

So, a change in sentinel combat behavior implies a lore shift

More variation would be interesting, it would also be worrying

The gist of the current situation is that the sentinels are holding back in their aggression response

Both in lore and in game mechanics, the sentinels used to just never stop attacking
