Hmm, you should always be in group when you join their game. Instance capacity is not the same as group capacity by the way, just to be sure we are talking same thing. Group can only ever by 4, instance capacity is more variable, but I've only ever seen it filled when the host is in a massively crowded system (like a Galactic Hub capital, or during Expeditions). If they join your game, do yall have the same issues @dire pawn ?

Cool, NMS friend may be a little better, since it removes a network hop. When you join a game, the person you join becomes a network host for the group session (the group host, which gets the crown in the group display). Their client provides data to all the group members (and all their bases become visible, even the ones you won't normally see due to NMS limitations like "only one per planet uploaded is visible")
This can put a burden on the host, which is why generally it is better the person with the best hardware and networking be the host.

Where the host is in the game can affect this, like a crowded system or an incompatible game state may affect it. I'm not a recent expert in this area, but have you tried googling the symptoms of your problems?

Note also that being in group mode can interfere with progress in some quests. I wonder if that may be kicking the group apart. (It should leave you in the same system and same instance, unless that has recently changed.)

In other words, you would see the other player in the same system (you can see on Galactic Map or Nearby players). If kicked out of the same instance, you won't see the other player. That usually seems to happen for some other reason, usually due to crowding in the instance. NMS seems to group players with similar pings to the back end together into instances based on real life networking locations and in-game star system locations. Normally that only matters in crowded systems like Galactic Hubs or Expedition waypoints, or in the Nexus Anomaly when players from lots of in-game locations may be lumped together.

Play this game on all platforms and multiplayer is more janky on Playstation than any. Rather than joining each other in a multiplayer game in which one person is hosting the other I would suggest just meeting up in the same system. And then playing together that way.

Just build yourselves a couple bases in a system somewhere. And teleport to those bases when you want to play together. Better overall that way

Hopefully HG will allow us to own more freighters soon but to say they're only good for warping is insanely wrong.

So when you have a trade surge going on you travel to all the systems in the area of space that contain the goods they're looking for. Take that to the system and sell it all to the pilots. Then go collect a bunch more stuff and bring it back to sell again.

I know the guild envoys can give them sometimes but the stations in my teleporter get recycled quite often and 1 per day from rare envoys is eh...but I have a solid unit farm....I can make ~1.8 billion per day so I can also just outright buy the slots if I tend to my farms for a few days though I typically camp a station and scrap ships for slot expansions.

The drives can give connection bonuses, but they give nothing to each other...you can place the four drives in a square and the borders will light up as though they're connecting but since the drives themselves don't give ly range or fuel efficiency connecting them to each other does nothing...you want to make sure they connect to the S or X modules or at least the hyperdrive(though that's a lesser bonus) to get benefit out of them.

Like they said, after you get the blueprint for a landing pad and build one on a planet, it launches the exocraft automatically. It’ll be a bit poky until you get it some upgrade modules, but they apply to all instances of that craft type.
