Everything you put on your Corvette mechanic wise only stacks to a maximum of three. Rest are cosmetic.

That means 3 boosters total

3 reactors of any type

3 weapons of any type

On top of this with boosters/reactors the more you put on your ship the less they will give their true stats. A scaling loss per booster. Instead of three medusas giving you 11% maneuverability one might give 11% but the others give like 8% and 3%

So you'd want to place a titan first to get its maximum stats. Then the smaller boosters after. Less scaling stat loss overall.

One reason why I prefer phase beams is it recharges your shield as it does damage. And if your phase beams have high DPS you almost never have to recharge your shield.

Not really. When it comes down to it there are going to be at least 9 slots used for weapons/reactors/boosters.
So if you want to reduce the number that go into tech slots you have to get creative with landing gear, and other reactors you want to place into it

Sometimes you can put something down and then take the thing you want to place and place it and it will press against the thing you just put down and that thing will act as a stop for putting the intended thing down -- it will be placed just in front of, touching, the item used as a stop. This works for some items.

A great example is that large, hanging red rug / tapestry for walls -- put something down where you want that thing to hang and then place it and it will place right there.
