Once you got a decent Corvette that's functional you can shoot salvage scrap from the air to collect more Corvette parts. Those things are worth a lot of money if you don't need the parts you get.

Take that money to pirates stations, buy Tech and weapon packets from a vendor and then sell the tech modules to another vendor for nanites.

Easiest way to build up a lot of units and then convert them to nanaites when you have an excess

If you turn the game difficulty settings to free base building... It will greatly reduce most of the building time of 30mins- 24hours into 8 seconds

That's literally the best piece of advice I could find for settlements

And yeah it will still probably take a couple of days to get your first settlement into positive funds

If you visit your settlement every time something comes up for building or there's a citizen request it will go a lot faster than showing up every two or three in game days to check on them and start a new project.

Settlements require a lot of babysitting early on. Constant visits. Can't neglect them or they go south real fast.

some merging, some grouping as well to make streets. some workarounds for dodgey vanilla buildings. such as, building over the lower dome on this one to add a way to access those doors on the upper level. fixing a couple stairs that have a wood across the top making it inaccessible. i had to free place a small floor and snap my own steps over the original to use the upper level. and a couple have no door at all to the upper levels, so i have to do chair trick to at least put stuff in them to make them look used. im also adding my own build is and slowly build towards my base where there is a small lake on the other side
