If you can end up with both an atlantid and sentinel multitool, steal the hijacked laser or runic lens from one of them to put on the other and add a normal mining laser. With basically just the fixed bonus upgrades and one X class, The thing can't overheat and does as much damage as my neutron cannon

1- a mod that lets you use all the parts for all base types.
2- do the overlap vette/ground base trick by building the floors up to and on the vette, then switch base edit menu from base to vette, and the parts will be attached, allowing snapping for more parts. this technique can be done on consoles or pc.

Higher classes have a higher maximum number of inventory slots, and can have slightly higher buffs, but for the main things people use freighters for, a mobile base, there's no difference.
