Go to it and shoot the ground where it is
The stuff will break and you will get the part
Repeat till you get enough

Make sure you pop your scanner by the resource deposit and look deep in the ground. A lot of times the surface level resources have another bubble of deposit below the top one

You can get into co-op play at any point in your game. You don't have to have everything unlocked and be a fully fleshed out account
