For sentinels, what matters most is the appearance. If you like the design, transformation and colour, go for it. Just keep farming on the same planet until you get a A or S class and scrap the rest.

Sentinel ships do not auto-charge unless you use the auto charger technology. The main advantage to using sentinel ships is their ability to hover, and that they look cool. The sentinel cannon is also among the best ship weapons in the game.

Class is not necessarily that important, as class can be upgraded, admittedly at a hefty nanite cost. Designs are however, unique, and a system can only have a set number of ship designs
