Freighters have exclusive ship storage you can put stuff away in and fleet missions.
Corvettes have every facility you need to be a mobile base, aside mining. More cozy, more home, facilitates multiplayer well once improved more.
Regular ships are easier to get. Corvettes are a tad more expensive and tied to RNG.

Usually at the end of expeditions, I scrap everything, sell most of the mats and buy anything worthwhile until I'm broke, then hand it out in the Anomoly to random people. Do people hate this? It's not useless junk, just the most used mats and expensive stuff, S class modules. I also forgot I can handout all my ship parts but I don't want to overload someone's inventory. I do this because I end up deleting my expedition save and feel like it all goes to waste. 🤷 So I guess I'm asking if anyone wants a bunch of various ship parts? There should be a donation box in the Anomoly or at space stations, kinda like what Fallout 76 has throughout the world.

Just finished my first expedition.
From what I can tell all of that stuff gets converted into it's equivalent price in units or nanites so I just put most of the inventory upgrades I denied while doing the expedition and a couple cool items into the transfer and ended it.

1: You are not required to complete anything (except actually unlocking the anomaly) in order to play an expedition, but it is recommended that you complete the tutorial and are comfortable with the game's base mechanics
2: You can play the expedition with others, but I'm not entirely sure how that would go

yeah if you transfered items upon starting the expedition, you can claim those at any time after unlocking the anomaly (occurs after you warp for the first time)
however, you cannot place anything in the terminal until you finish the exped

so you get the SC + adjecency bonus at the same time

One one hand. I like that Derelict Freighters drop Corvette Modules (Although I think they should give more than one ffs) BUT. Derelict Freighters have NOT been touched since they were added and are extremely repetetive. So I don't see myself doing those very much. Which is a shame. There isn't a ton of options for PvE content with a dungeon/raid feel.

you can bring anything back to your main save once your done
