yes. assuming you dont disable tutorial missions, you start on a random system on the outside of the Euclid galaxy. get comfy, because you're not gonna unlock the ability to swap galaxies under your own power for a while. most of your tech isnt working, so the tutorial has you repair it. you start with a broken ship that you gotta repair. this ship is the same for all players (a fighter named the Radiant Pillar BC1) so youll probably be seeing it a lot

The only thing making me hesitate with Corvettes is the fact that if you fully deck them out structurally, they end up taking up so many tech slots that its hard to get them everything you want. I had to fully give up on pretty much every weapon and hyperdrive upgrade for my corvette cause there's just not enough slots

A limited time quest line where you start from scratch BUT you can use ressources from your main account and send it to your "new" Interloper, tho you can only use em when you unlock the Anamoly in the expedition

technically multiplayer is always on, but there are literally 18 quintillion planets so the chances of you stumbling into someone randomly is nonexistant. you eventually unlock a teleporter to the anomaly, a multiplayer hub. since everyone who completes the literal first story mission has access to the anomaly therell be no shortage of players. theres also missions that you can do with others and a communal teleporter that lets you warp to featured bases/bases of anyone else in the anomaly (that allow it)

Making ships comes in two flavors, corvettes and starship.
Id recommend building up a starship but the easiest way to get a decent one is to find one you like in the wild and talk to the npc pilot and buy it from them.
The next easiest way is to search for downed ships on planets.

the new big ships are Corvettes. theyre pretty lategame. you can buy starships from npcs on space stations. you can also build your own, but the process of getting parts is tedious (for non-corvettes, you gotta find a ship with a part you like, buy it, and then destroy it to get only that part and nothing else. having to buy like. 3 ships. gets expensive FAST, so for most of early/midgame youll be using whatever the randomizer randomizes for you)
