I tend to see players randomly in the wild about once or twice a year. So you lucked out early, probably. But some folks hang out in their starting system (build a permanent base, revisit it often) so early on near the starting systems maybe it is a bit more likely.

I need to develop a better method to try to collect the rest of these derelict logs in Collected Stories. I managed to unlock 14 of them just by station hopping through the teleporter and doing the derelict in each system. But I haven't been logging the systems I've already cleared, stupidly.

Through research, I have 5 logs left to locate. I'm thinking of teleporting to my Eissentam base and just going from there. Warping to systems in different regions checking the derelict logs.

Annoyingly, the dominant race in the system seems to have absolutely no bearing on which log you get.

Thankfully, I still have 35 scanners left from my stash...

That's a lot of chromatic metal, a metal that was very difficult to get because I'm too lazy to mine, and I had to keep waiting a long time for ships selling it to arrive to the space stations
