Take off, line up the "S" in the middle and go to space. Once in space, nose down until you can see "the top of the planet." Fly there, it should take you to about mid way between the equator and the South Pole.

If you need nanites and have some units to spare (around 120 mil) you can buy an emergency beacon from the guy on the space station and explore a derelict freighter. Searching containers on those will yield tainted metal. Refine this for 2 nanites for every 1 tainted metal. Have 500 metal, you got yourself 1000 nanites.

There's I think 3 biological things you get nanutes from and that's the hypnotic eyes, hadal cores, and larval eggs.

You can also buy and scrap ships to get upgrades, which can then be sold at the upgrade vendors for nanites.

Ship class determines what class of upgrades you get.

Scrapping C class ships will yield C class upgrades and S class ships will give S class upgrades.

If you follow the Core route in Galactic Map, it will take you to one of a limited number of "core edge" systems. Not all systems on the brink of the core void work, and if you are in any of those others, the Core route will take you to a true core edge system. From a true core edge system, the Core route only leads to the galactic core. To reach it, you don't even need a very good hyperdrive, but it must be fully fueled. And it can be a little tricky to get the core to light up as your destination (depending on platform it seems). For me with Steam PC, I just keep wiggling around pointing in that general direction until it lights up as my target, then zoom...

Yah, I've never run into any of that. Mind you, I haven't core warped since purple stars were added, but all my ships have at least Indium drives, and I don't believe any of the cores were retrofitted to be purple, so I wouldn't have to add any drives for color purposes.

Don't you worry. Once you unlock purple star systems and land on an ocean world or gas giant, you'll wish you were on that toxic world. Gas giants have a habit of producing tornadoes that whip you into the sky and all you can do is watch your hazard meter fall.

Diving past 200 units causes issues for you.
