Haha so not quite, its stacking Deepwater Chambers until you hit the surface, then deleting all but the top and bottom Deepwater chambers, then at the top you can build whatever you want while being slightly submerged

Technically if you terrain manager dig below sea level you can easily achieve moats and "river-like" features in a base near enough sea level. However, in my experience despite saving terrain edits with bases, they somehow still fill in. Not sure why, seems a long-standing bug. But I have not continued to retest that for quite some time (since the fill-in itself is unpredictable and can happen sooner or later without ever being sure it might not... this time. 🤣 )

Yeah what I still really like about 1.0 is the „challenge“ it offered. It was very clearly a barebones survival game back then, but more challenging than even permadeath or the survival we have now.

Tbf some of it was due to bad QoL like no stacking, but accumulating Units was also something you actually had to work for and they werent as inflated as they are now.

Space battles were also harder in my memory but that was due to well…messy space battles with sometimes 15 or more fighters swarming you.

What really bugs me is that they removed sea predators alltogether. I kinda get it they were a bit clunky but I still have fond memories of getting chased by sharks.

And regarding the crabs: They were the worst on tall grass planets, made for some really scary experiences when i couldnt see them and thought some crazy invisible enemy was attacking me

I found that fish don't honor the terrain boundaries that closely so if you put a base partly underwater you can get to where you can watch the fish swim by very easily (indoors 🤣). Now to just convince my freighter to land rather than crash 😉

If you want to make sure that you will be able to get back there the best solution is to drop a base

You don't have to build anything, only base computer to claim a base and you will be able to teleport there

You can have up to 400 bases

Another option would be to leave a save beacon bc it has a marker that will be visible on your HUD, but if you forget where the system is the beacon on it's own won't help much

Spoilers if you want to find a sentinal interceptor naturally but ||Easiest way is find a sentinal drone, bring your ship next to it, shoot it, get it annoyed, get in your ship, fly up and out of the atmosphere, kill the waves of sentinal ships, kill the sentinal dreadnought freighter (go for 4 shield extrusions first, 2 on each side), get an item which looks like a red circle, use it, follow the signal to the crash site, remove items, note one item can't be removed because it needs repairing, and on the same planet search for 2 items which you need to repair it, then one of the items you removed will start flashing, so use it, then go to the shrine to purify the item, then go back to the ship and fix it. Congrats you are now the proud owner of a sentinal interceptor||

For the battle stock up on atleast 1000 sodium as you'll need it to repair shields, therefore making any space ship immortal 😂
