Patches sometimes change planets. My water used to be orange during the day, blood red a sunrise and sunset, glowing Caribbean blue at night, and the green grass would glow with blue lights practically all over. I came back to NMS and this all changed

The main story will teach you the basics and some advanced crafting. After that, you can do whatever you want. Go ship hunting. Start a bone museum. Fish. Collect pets. Fight pirates. Start a NipNip Empire.
