Does anyone else ever get frigate expeditions that just freeze up? Like, you go to check on them at the fleet management station and everything looks normal but the timer has simply stopped counting down and they never come home on their own. You pretty much have to abandon the mission and debrief them before the navigator will free up that fifth expedition slot so you can send them back out again. I've only had it happen twice since I've been playing so it's not a huge deal. But it's kinda weird when it happens. The other fleets don't seem to be affected when ever this happens. It just seems to be one fleet whenever I have one freeze up like that.

Ah, see that might be the factor involved right there. I am playing on PC with Linux using Steam's Proton compatibility layer. So, if it's not happening to anyone else it's very likely a Proton issue of some sort. But it's a rare occasion kind of thing so it doesn't bother me a whole lot. It just had me curious.

UPDATE PREP CHECKLIST

1. backup save right before update
2. remove all mods
3. hold on to your seats until the bugs work out

Removing mods before updating isn't crazy important as of late, especially with a backup in case something crazy happens

The issue with relics was a freak accident that shouldn't happen again and I don't think had long-term effects

Unless there are any MBIN mods in which they will just crash the game i think

Depending on if their file was modified whatsoever by the update

EXML mods should be more resiliant to being broken by updates. most new mods are made that way, and a good chunk of older ones seem to have been converted too

If you do Permadeath you get both titles and achievements/trophies. Once I found that out I abandoned my Survival save and started a Permadeath run.

If you can survive until you get off of the first planet you should be good. Just play safe and avoid combat...

Multitool displays damage potential of one weapon installed. The one with the highest dmg potential. So if something there has higher dmg potential then boltcaster then that 41k isn't for boltcaster.

If you want to know dmg potential of boltcaster get rid of other weapons

Another thing is that 4th supercharged slot on the left

If you use it for boltcaster instead of mining beam tech you should get higher dmg potential on boltcaster (whatever that dmg potential is)

when I'm standing in my freighter, why can't I quick transfer from exosuit to freighter storage containers?

Bc you have to stand inside of the base area, then you should be able to quick transfer to base storage as you are within a base

So by mining with small size you get more per ground deposit

I have never heard anyone refer to NMS as a competitive game

It is a pretty casual game

There are some more complex mechanics behind the scenes and you can min max optimise etc if you enjoy something like that

But it is not required to have fun

I have oxygen farm producing 130k oxygen per day

I enjoy building farms, I enjoy crafting. I can go through that much oxygen in the way I play

Most players don't need anything close to that

On the other hand I don't like exploring without specified destination, but Some people like to just roam around and see what they will find

I also enjoy making ridiculous stuff with glitches

I am so used to doing something with a specific, practical or functional goal in mind, that I can relate to that last part if nothing else...

just exploring is something I consider boring, while exploring to try and find something is fun.

the problems with that kind of "I only find things fun if its done for a specific purpose" mentality is when there's nothing new left to do...
