Yeah some of the "deep oceans" aren't so deep. I saw one such ocean...though it had a lot of surface land by deep ocean standards and only went to around 500u depth but most of it wasn't that deep. The surface looked like it had a lot of veins of land going across it.

1. having a nice field like a wild base computer just provides a good area to build. and can raise where necessary in ways that are hard with the flattening tool.
2. a base computer processed flatten could be applied by the game in the same way it applies the flattening for any other poi. i.e. it wouldnt be saved as terrain edits, but manipulate the map as the base computer is loaded. so it would never go away

units can be fairly easy when you scan creatures, and nanites can come from nanite bonuses when all fauna are scanned on a planet, nanites can be refined from several different materials, units can be made from scrapping crashed ships, there's lots of other ways to get units & nanites, use !faq-units and !faq-nanites in #bot-spam for more info on other methods

Sometimes it can take a while for discovery data to catch up, but if so, it will correct your renaming etc. eventually. (Lol, I renamed the capital of the Galactic Hub once when ODS was being really really slow. It got better 😉 )

Yah, I did that experiment in Eissentam while doing a Grand Tour of all galaxies in Creative. Lol, still need to finish that, got up to 221 or so before a bug wiped the save out, and my last backup of it was about 10 galaxies back, so I got disheartened 😉

Yah, the "invalid address" remapping is semirandom, but not a huge pool of targets. At least, I got a repeat within about 10 tries as I recall.

So unless someone was really persistent, there wil be some undiscovered systems lurking in the pool for any given invalid address.

There are also more than one edge system at the end of the Core routes for each galaxy (I forget the total number, maybe like 20?) so the farther you go in the galaxies the more likely you are to discover a new system even in "famous" locations.

The vast majority of NMS players never even leave Euclid (until they finish the ||Artemis|| quest, and that takes them to only one of four others.) While some are very diligent in exploring and discovering, most are not. You will notice the same names come up in pre-discovered systems though 😉 once you get out in the boondocks.

Nah, there is a new fauna type: bone companions. One of the milestone rewards is an egg for one, but you can find the fauna on Rendezvous 4 and catch one in the wild too.

Some glitches can happen. Try a save-and-reload. (Exiting the ship does an autosave, or using a Save Beacon, Save Point, or the device you find at some POIs does a manual save. Each save slot in the game keeps the most recent autosave and the most recent manual save.)

If that doesn't fix it, try a save-and-restart. If that doesn't fix it, the portal itself may have been the glitch. Re-find the portal.

if you want to cut down the search time use an exocraft scanner to find a monolith>solve its puzzle correctly>present it a gift (korvax casing/gek relic/vykeen dagger can buy these at a trading outpost on the same system) the gift will show you portal

Hmm, rarely, new releases or patches have changed the algorithm that places points of interest. Famously there was one that moved the Portal on the planet around (long ago). There is only one Portal (at most) per planet.

We did have a patch roll out yesterday, but I would be surprised if that changed Portal locations, though the Relic release itself could have, theoretically.

Lol, so you likely will stumble on a system where they are all explorers! 🤣 Actually, I tend to find them when I am not looking for them. The centrifuge ring on them is pretty distinctive, so I avoid them unless shopping for that exact model.
