Matter beam is the single best upgrade you can get. Doesnt even matter what first freighter you get first, you can start farming that later.
Just get a freighter, build the 10 storage unit, build matter beam, forget about it until you wanna get involved in freighters.

We really need an advanced base computer that flattens land around itself, so we don't have to search for wild base computers if we want a flat building site. Or we need a map that finds wild computers, because they take about 20minutes to find on a good day and thats just sleep inducing.

I guess its not common knowlege as they are rare to fund, but unclaimed base computers are a not uncommon planetary site. Mostly a hold over from an early version of the game where you were assigned a base.
You can find them if you fly slowly over the planet looking for circular patches of flat land that are clear of vegetation or rocks.

You can also find them with charts, they will be sometimes marked instead of a shelter

So just use charts until a shelter is marked, clear only that one marker and try again

Eventually it will mark a "habitable base"

It can take a lot of charts tho

But imo faster then just aimless roaming a planet in hopes you spot one

or, less abruptly, if you are doing frigate missions, teams composed entirely of (levelled) supply frigates can 5 star all missions, and frequently achieve 0 fuel usage except on the longest trips.

there used to be a channel where you could ask for lifts to other galaxies. but given that its easy to just dial a system close to the center now, you can travel easilly yourself.
In which case a bit of hopping and you can just stop when you reach a galaxy with the right attribites.

The issue here is one is assigning the number of the community assigned number and the other is what is written in the games files.

The community will list Euclid as galaxy #1 but the game files (service bot) will list Euclid as #0

generally the community will go off this.

When selling to 3 star you can immediately buy their goods and go to the next eco type

1 star just don't sell a lot of goods

So go to scientific, buy from them, sell at trading, buy from them go to advanced materials
