I do not get the appeal of the Gas Giants. I do not like them and usually die eveytime I go there so I try not to. Perfectly flat land is hard to come by except around naturally spawned buildings like trade outposts, settlements, minor settlements. There are some random, unclaimed base computers spread across the universe as a result of a very old update, they can be claimed and have flat land across.

It takes around 30 - 40 hours to complete the Artemis path, durinf this time you can spend some moments to explore and gather materials and the required currency to unlock base parts from the space anomaly.
To be able to build big bases without much hindrance I would give the game around 80-100 hours gathering stuff, completing missions etc to unlock everything needed and become strong enough to face the environmental challenges.

Not knowing what to do in a game when you first start out is a situation you will have with any game (well, except for the 50th COD refresh of the decade). No Man's Sky does not force you to follow the main story. You can do as much as it is necessary to feel like you know how to play the game, and then just break off and do your own thing

I had a theory that it was a combination of the oceans being very small and the fact that it's close to the giant, sometimes I can tell that the surface is tilted like on colliding worlds

I know that I run a milk farm already but for dinos and ball/spiral animal its not the same... their speed make them leave the range of the autofeeder, because there's a tic to recall them, and if they're not within the machine range when that tic happens, they will wander off and despawn, dinos that are extremely huge move much faster, and have same issue, which makes these animals impossible to farm steadily

I need to make a smaller species of dino trough gene splitting with their eggs, and wanted to make a small farm, but apparently, after much google research you can't farm products FROM companions... which totally kills it for me.

Both farming and companions are totally useless for me and their mechanics are broken

Basically if you sell it to an npc and reload the save, both the npc and the player will still have the ship, meaning a different player can buy the ship from that npc, this only works on multiplayer obvioisly
