Short version:

Your username and password are the first set of keys. The kind of 2FA Discord uses has a code generated based on a secret passphrase both you and the webserver know and the current time, and check against each other to make sure they match

Once you check both with each other, Discord gives you a token that you can use instead of having to send those three pieces of info with every request you make.

It's stored in a known location on your PC, so if someone gets the ability to run software on your system, they can just grab the file with your token, send it home to them, and then act as you to do whatever.

This reminds me of when there was stream and discord raids happening, I got raided through my invite link and one of my friends managed to trick the idiots into inviting them to the raid server xD, We gave discord 100+ ID’s of all the raiders server and more, and the server and all the accounts are still up to this day.

IF this were going to result in anything worse:

1. the machine this attack was executed on would need access to sensitive info, including all the pathways TO said sensitive info, without it being sufficiently encrypted
2. the malware would need to know where to go for that sensitive info
3. They would've had to do something with that sensitive info before the staff could react and revoke any possible access they'd gain from those tokens

It's fairly easy enough to break this chain, and considering how big SE is I have reasonable expectation that if they say nothing further was compromised, nothing further was compromised

So no need to panic rn, everyone
