there is no time limit, no real penalty for not doing something, everything can be achieved as fast or slow as you desire

correct! no one ages or dies or moves away, some things in the game slowly deteriorate over time, but you can always boost them back up

such as friendship with people and animals

you can spend the first 3 years of the game chopping trees and busting rocks solely to decorate your farm and then pick up the "main story" again

you just need to ask yourself how much efficiency matters to you

if you want to get to certain goals like having cows or something, then you can work straight for them, or put it off until you feel ready

hii! i just started with a meadowlands farm and didn't know what is best to do in early game

many people plant potatoes then invest in strawberry seeds (bought on 13th spring, egg festival), i'd use community center bundles as a guideline on what crops to plant/what fish to get etc.
fishing is also a nice way to make money in early game

since you have a coop and 2 chickens, you're also starting out strong

Its near impossible to completely lose your tools. The lost and found is for when u place parts of special orders in a box at the npcs house (or the museum) and then dont complete the order before the allocated time. In other words, i doubt its there.

Watering can cannot be deleted, so its very very much near impossible to have lost it entirely. Its worth checking every location (fridge for example)

Also, make sure its not in at clints getting upgraded

I find myself rushing to earn enough money for the first backpack upgrade in the first week because the original inventory feels too constraining. I’m wondering if I should start saving for the next backpack upgrade immediately, or invest in other things? Should one backpack upgrade be enough for a while?

each seasonal seed (if no gatherer profession) gives u 2 foraging exp, 3 farming exp
with gatherer when u get 2, the it's 2x2 foraging exp, 3 farming exp

Once built, you should have the option to load it as coop on the main menu
