I usually don't - I'll plant rhubarb on d1 and strawberry on d2
if you want, you can try using fiber seeds. Those grow in winter and can keep your soil tilled through the season change

strawberry seeds are a good investment here and I think they'll pay off faster than the coop. Don't save them till next spring, you want your return on cash investment sooner.

That said, strongly consider building a coop (and a silo) soon, because that is also very good.

2. when you put a grass starter, also put an item (chest, lightning rod, fence) on top of it. The animal has to stand on top of the grass to eat it, so it won't be able to eat the grass... but the grass can spread to surrounding tiles, and the animal can eat grass on those tiles
3. buy from marnie I guess
4. use your scythe on grass to get hay, but leave some grass behind so that it can spread into fields again so that you can use your scythe on...

fishing will put money directly in your pocket, so it's worth doing early on. THe best way to make money, though, is automating things. That means sprinklers, which automate watering your crops, and let you grow huge crop fields. Go mining until floor 80+ for gold ore, and use that to craft Quality Sprinklers (requires farming level 6 for the recipe). THen craft a whole army of quality sprinklers and grow lots of crops.
