I'm calling that command because you seem to only have mods which are frameworks and thus would be a wholly vanilla experience
Meaning if you have other mods? They're almost 100% XNB mods and shouldn't be used.

Steam restart shouldn't be necessary, just verification of stardew's files

Hello wondering if I broke something with my recent modding... I'd recently downloaded "better chests" and because of that "better crafting" and "fauxcore" so that I could move all of my chests into a shed, but then I deleted those mods because I thought they made my menus too messy. I'm now unable to change the colors of any of my chests as the icon in my chest menu is just completely absent. If anyone has any advice how to fix this issue please let me know tysm

I'm not quite sure whether it's a mod or not but I didn't know where else to go. For some particular reason whenever I try to date anyone that i have 8 hearts with it just constantly says I cant date them. I do have mods but I'm not sure whether that could be the problem or not and it'd be such a pain to start over again

CP textures working for furniture but not craftables. Also a plethora of farm type manager lines, not sure if those are bad or causing lag. Everything that say it needs to be updated has the most up-to-date file i could find on nexus or forums, but they read as old so idk.

the generic mod config menu for Medieval Craftables shows none of them are disabled right
i got rid of the AT folder, but nothing changed. i tried looking in the config menu for craftables and i dont see anything that could help. its like, some are working but most arent. the chest and furnace arent working, but the crab pots are

thanks. it does look like for some reason the medieval craftable mod is not applying its changes to craftables, but it is applying the changes to objects

hmm...would it help if i tried another craftable mod to see if the issue still persists..? or if that even matters, if everything here is fine then it must be some sort of conflict with something else
you can try uninstalling and reinstalling medieval craftables
deleted and reinstalled both gwen's craftables and content patcher, nothing has fixed it

outside compared to inside, as i said the furniture inside is perfectly fine (not everything in there is CP stuff but some is) and the outside ones aren't detecting the chest, furnace, or scarecrow, but crabpots r fine

Might be time to try the binary split method - Move half your Content Patcher mods out, see if the issue persists. If it goes away, it's one of those mods you moved. If it stays, keep trying until you eliminate them?

Yeah - I'm looking through your mods to look for something that looks like it would conflict, but anything I can find is generally not affecting craftables anyways. I'll keep looking while you do the hard part.

and those three were editing it! Medivial and the two I sent ^_^

What's weird is that based on the nexus page, the other two Riot linked don't sound like they touch Craftables, so I wonder if there's an issue with how they set up things that's just replacing with the wrong textures.

The mod I made is a craftable recolor so I'm just really familiar with that particular png 😅 😆 😭

MiscRecolors.jpg is the full craftables sheet and not a patchwork replacement

We'd need to see all of the logs to be able to try and make a better guess, but looking at the errors, it looks like it might be a mod mismatch between players.

I think? that's an Stardew Valley Expanded bug/quirk, not sure what causes it. Don't quote me on that one though.
And before you get logs, I'd double check that your modlists match up first - If they don't, getting that matched will hopefully fix the issue. If it doesn't, then we can dig into them with more info.

As far as your duplicate NPCs, debug removenpc {NPCName} should help - You'll want to back up your save first and run it once per duplicate (If you remove all of them, it might wipe out your friendship).
I've never actually seen that bug myself, so I'm not sure on the side effects.
NPCName is case sensitive, you can pull it from the SMAPI log where it reports a duplicate NPC. Based on your log, I think you want

I did do a clean install before installing these mods, but maybe I messed up somehow because I modded on version 1.5. I'm not sure what else could be causing it, other than maybe my game being installed on a different drive compared to my Steam? Idk

You might think "that's dumb, that can't be the problem" - except there's a time master update specifically to address stuff for 1.6
I was also having crashing problems before installing Time Master, but I guess I'll update

It's a failed draw loop - A mod is opening spritebatch.draws and not closing them properly, which is generally fatal because the game can't open a spritebatch.draw for it's own rendering (IIRC)

Yeah - It looks like PassableCrops is the most recent patch to throw errors, but that might be because another mod is fucking up the draw state beforehand.
If the Content Manager dies, that explains a lot :S
Given that no other post on Nexus for it looks similar, I think a different mod is mangling the draw state first

Yeah - I think the errors mentioning PassableCrops are just because the draw state is busted

Took a look at the other report of Cloudy Skies crashing and it ends the same way (Game abort due to draw state exploding), but totally different error message.
@winter egret for now, I'd recommend pulling Cloudy Skies and seeing if the error goes away
ok, been dealing with this for a few days game is still running fine aside from every 5 minutes or so the game freezes for a minute or two. Just grab the log file before you try to reboot the game, since SMAPI starting will reset the log file

I'd recommend running it for a bit (in game day maybe), grab a log, and check to see if there's giant blocks of errors in the background
So my issue may be caused by having so many large expansion mods, do you guys know which may not work well together?

It's hard to say - a lot of the big ones play nicely together, but each mod added does impact performance overall (And the lag might be you hitting the limits of your system briefly).
Someone else would need to take a look, but you also have a lot of mods in there that are generally old and not used in 1.6, which may be causing some of the issues. I don't know which ones well enough to say for certain though.
My S/O runs the same pack on another laptop with much less issue, though it does still freeze, which ones arent used on 1.6 much? i havent been modding since 2022
You have SAAT in there, which I'm pretty sure is not 1.6 compatible, as well as TMXL Map Toolkit which I believe is deprecated at the point
yeah i had to look for an unofficial SAAT ill try to disable that one and TMXL i dont think i have too many things that depend on them
Someone else may be able to take a look at some point and give you a better judgment call
Oh yeah - Antisocial NPCs is dead too, it's baked into the base game now

I think Nexus may still give dependency warnings if an older version requires it, but I've not tested that theory myself. I'd remove it and see if anything breaks.

Yeah - it's hard to say exactly what's causing the issue (You could run Profiler, but it's a massive drag on performance while it's running), but may give a hint as to what's causing the lag. Not something I'm particularly familiar with.

Ok, so you're still crashing when you try to put on new clothes? In which case it's probably not Cloudy Skies - can you post a log after it crashes with Cloudy Skies removed?
I could be wrong, but I think that those just fail over once, then fail to initialize the actual letter. I don't think they have an ongoing performance hit

Also I believe you can't launch a bat directly from powershell without some extra syntax.
When you downloaded SMAPI, it came in a zip file - When you unpack that zip file, you should see the "Install on Windows.bat" as an actual file - Just launch that and it should launch the installer.

yeah i had the smapi 4.0.8 and opened the windows folder and installed but it still closed after installing and when reopening it asked me if i wanted to install again, i placed the folder on the desktop and i made sure to unzip the folder with a new one
Yeah - after it installs, it closes, but it's copied the files into your Stardew Valley directory if successful.
Did you add the launch command to Steam, or did you try just running Stardew Valley?
when u say launch command, are we talking about going into steam and right clicking on stardew and then clicking on properties and pasting the line you get from smapi install ? if so i did do that

If you installed Stardew somewhere other then default, that file path will be wrong.
says "failed to start process for this game: "The filename, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect." (0x7B)"
i then tried to remove the quotation marks to see if that would help but an error message popped up saying that the directory name should be checked since its not popping up
the quotes need to be there, put a space between the end quote and %command%
Just double checked and Yuki is correct - you'll get that error message if you don't have the space.

for those that use skullcavern elevator, are the chests supposed to keep respawning? the two chests at level 200 respawn everytime i leave and go back into the room. seems like a bug to me.
They always did for me, though I assumed it's coming from the Vanilla behavior since they would normally respawn every time you visit the floor by Vanilla means as well (felt cheaty so I set my elevator increments to not let me just jump to the floor easily to avoid temptation

Hooray. Just make sure you pull the folder out of the zip files they download in and put that in your Mods folder. SMAPI can't read ZIP files.

You can do it via the in-game menu if you have GMCM installed (or the config file directly if you do not) you can change the increments and few other fun setting - I set my Elevator Step to 51 usually to make it a bit more challanging (this way you'd have an elevator on floor 51,102, 153, 204, 255, 306 - so you would barely skip the chest floors, or you'd need to clear about 50 to get to them) This is how the menu looks like in game https://i.imgur.com/fq5EdZf.png
I just released an interface mod to Nexus this morning. But found that there were 2-3 people The person who posted said that after downloading it the mod didn't appear and there was no red error message at all. I don't know how to answer them. They probably won't forget that they used a different mod interface before and forgot to delete it, right? 😂

Are you using a portrait mod with oversized portraits? IE: One intended for use with an HD portrait mod to go with it?

i am very sure i did the delete the mod. i was trying to install something manually that required replacing the stardew valley expanded folder
Yeah - Download and install Portraiture, go to the Portraits folder, create a new folder for it, then move the 3 files from the assets folder for your portrait into that folder.
So it'll be Portraiture/Portraits/FolderName/{NPC.png}s
but it didnt leave my old files untouched. they are gone.

Correct - Portraiture just uses the images standalone.
You'll want to disable or remove the original mod afterwards.
So if you look in your Appdata/Roaming/StardewValley/Saves, there's nothing there?
Can get there quickly by doing %appdata% in a folder bar.

it wasnt in game. i was trying to download a protrait mod for all sve characters. and that one was just data. so i had to replace the image files. when i tried, it replaced everything wrong, it kept the old images and deleted everything that wasnt in the new folder

and now stardew valley expanded obviously no longer runs because i deleted everything but some images
Ok - so you didn't actually break / tinker with your save at all?
That's an easy fix then. Delete the Stardew Valley Expanded mod, then redownload it and put a fresh copy in it's place.

All you're doing is deleting the files for Stardew Valley Expanded (Which are separate from your save), then replacing them with a fresh copy from before you were tinkering with them.
All of your other mods like Grandpa's Farm should be untouched
Yeah - We verified the save is still there and fine. Make sure to delete the old Stardew Valley Expanded from your Mods folder, then use a freshly downloaded copy to put a clean copy back in Mods.
Then launch the game, and you should be able to load your save and verify everything looks the way it should.
(As far as what you were originally trying to do with your files, probably better to ask for help with a specific goal later, and someone whose not half asleep can try to help)

Hiya, I'm doing a run with some modded crops. One of the crop mods I use is outdated, and the owner of the mod seems to be atleast semi-inactive. The bug im having is, any crop I harvest from this mod, just produces like, 9000 per harvest when it should only produce one. Is this just a quick fix that I'm able to do? or is this something that would require the mod to be entirely rewrote

hey there! getting the following crash. Splitscreen coop, crashes typically happen directly after saving game at the end of day, in the first 1-2 seconds of the game world rendering. Occasionally, like this log, the game crashes in the middle of the day for no apparent reason.
It seems like critical keys are just falling out of the dictionary. I've had missing keys for Component: indoor as well as Component: outdoor. The rest of the error reads identically in the other logs.
Display drivers are up to date, game files are validated, plenty of overhead ram (18gb used out of 32gb). Temps for hardware are reasonable (below 75c).
Loading back into the game typically works just fine, then we can go another 2-4 days before getting another crash. Not sure what the cause could be at this point.
Any "missing updates" are just improperly labeled versions.

Right click stardew in steam, hit properties
First go to betas and tell me if it says anything other than none
Then go to installed files And hit browse or browse local files
its says Ignored game folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley
That directory seems to have the Stardew Valley legacy 'compatibility' branch.
Unfortunately SMAPI is only compatible with the modern version of the game.
Please update your game to the main branch to use SMAPI.

For some reason my junimos refuse to plant mixed seeds, I uninstaled some mods (like cornucopia since I heard It gave some errors but not dice.) I have better junimos and mixed seed mods but I have used them since before 1.6 with no problem

I think I've broken something with modding. I'm trying to upgrade my farmhouse, but Robin is telling me that I need 450 pieces of wood. I have more than that in my inventory right now. In general, franz, they'll become error items, but error items can be safely trashed or sold

Ok, it looks like the problem was with the Smarter Carpenters mod. That mod wasn't letting Robin see the woon in my inventory for some reason.
"for no apparent reason" is why it's hard to troubleshoot this, as the major issues popping up in the log appear to be from Market Town and the forest map during the Fishing Derby-- if you go to the Cindersap Forest on the fishing derby days, does it immediately crash?
Player actions are not recorded in the log, so any actions you are doing before the crash are also helpful info to have.
^ i was mainly going to point out the market town errors, but looking at everything else in the log those seem almost unrelated??
Fishing Derby / forest crash was previously an issue in SVE (2-3 months ago at most recent error report), but I think that was supposed to have been fixed already.

to clarify for you, just because the game is complaining about a vanilla file doesn't mean it's a vanilla issue. If a mod loads something else over the vanilla file (like SVE does for the forest), it will still throw the 'vanilla-looking' error even if the mod is at fault.
Driver updates, whole nine yards. I do think it’s mod based as I don’t get this in vanilla stardew. My worry is that it’s something like stardew valley expanded or the immersive farm map that comes with it.

Yeah, I think it's time to check for mod conflicts at this point, but I do know there was a previous SVE error with the forest and the fishing derby specifically.
Which is why I asked the question about if there was a predictable crash on entering the forest during the trout derby. 🙂

I’ve got a ton of Skyrim modding experience. Skyrim bakes mod data into saves, meaning uninstalling mods mid save can get risky. I’m worried stardew works sort of the same way. Is there any ways to clean “unattached” mod references out of saves? Or is this a manual process?

In this case a log's not particularly necessary though, correct?
The image states they downloaded an FS mod without downloading FS and then proceeds to the "mods loaded and ready" thing
So the solution is to educate them on dependencies and have them install Fashion Sense (and make sure they read how to use fashion sense)

for two reasons. First, because if it's hidden, it's hidden for a reason, but second, March 6 predates 1.6

i don't think this is a modding issue per say but i'm a week into winter Y1 and haven't received the winter mystery/ secret note cutscene. I don't have the quest and when I leave the farm towards to bus stop the cutscene won't activate. I can't see any special conditions needed to unlock the winter mystery apart from leaving the farm through the bus stop entrance between a specific time (6am-4pm I think). I've already donated the required amount of minerals/ artifacts to unlock krobus before I hit winter

Can you double check whether you have the "A Winter Mystery" quest in your journal? I assume you checked, but want to rule out the "oops, how did I miss that" option. Edit: Somehow I missed that you said it wasn't in your journal when you first posted.

not in my journal, I checked for that also but confirmed the quest isn't there. I've tried shaking the bushes around the playground too to see if I somehow missed the cutscene triggering but nothing

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

Hey so sorry for the ping but I found something weird that was also reported in a Steam Community by a different user with the same problem, and wasnt sure if you were aware of it?
User had already fixed Bus, had already unlocked Sewer. Cannot trigger the Winter Mystery quest.
They are modded but it is a fresh save not a 1.5 to 1.6 save
is this a known bug?

I had this too - that event didn't play for me at all even though I tried various things - I don't have SVE in this run, I removed ridgeside and pretty bus stop and walk to the desert and it didn't run then either. I didn't figure out what that is caused by yet. I had to take out almost all mods (I just left those in that would've broken my save like animals added by CP, Spacecore etc, and then did the event in nearly vanilla conditions and saved
the debug command didn't bring it up either weirdly enough
(that's likely due to me fucking something up due to being on steam deck though, it's hard to type there)
ok so ive spent 4 days on this now to no avail. Ive removed everything and restarted twice. My mod pack is very ambitious and huge, lots of mods, and my game is opening and running fine, no red lines. But, its still freezing every 5 minutes or so for long periods of time. My partner can run this modpack with zero issue on her computer.

at this point ive cut 180 mods from the original 480 I had and there has been zero level of improvement. I've updated eveything and addressed all yellow lines except for a few warps, and a few mail issues
For non-stardew potential solutions: Check your thermals and your utilization. Could be thermal throttling or maxing your cpu.

I'd help you but the nsfw mods you have in there are a bit too much to comfortably deal with. if you want to find more help here it would be good if you could take out those mods for now and then run the game a little bit (until the problem happens again at least once) to see that this didn't randomly fix things already, and then share that log with us again.

Are the new mods in your Mods folder? Did you unpack them from the zip files?
SMAPI comes with 2 mods by default that are useful for troubleshooting.

One of my users says their preserves jar won't make our unique cornucopia items and is instead making generic pickles for them. I assume this means another mod is either moving the pickle entry above our rules or adding a new rule but they provided a patch summary and the code for all of the mods they have looks solid 🥲

Go to where Stardew Valley is installed on your Mac - Inside should be a folder labeled Mods.
For a Mac, your directory will be:
GOG: /Applications/Stardew Valley.app/Contents/MacOS
Steam: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Stardew Valley/Contents/MacOS

If you ran the SMAPI installer (And you did since it's loading), you don't need to move SMAPI anywhere, the installer took care of that.
You just need to move your mods from the Mods folder you created (And posted a screenshot of) to the Mods folder in the Stardew Valley folder.

I'm having massive stuttering problems
or more specifically 0 fps
Msi afterburner is showing 0% gpu utilization
Sometimes the game works perfectly at a solid 60 fps and then randomly it goes down to 2 fps and gets stuck there until I restart my game

I've already tried excluding Smapi from rtss but it changed nothing
also the stuttering is very odd because sometimes it doesn't happen
Like for example I'm playing and the stuttering starts midway through the in-game day. I restart the game. The whole day passess without any stutters
or sometimes it keeps stuttering again and again.
I've not been able to notice any patterns about the stutters. No certain time or place.

so shop tile framework is outdated and might be contributing to your stutters - it also looks like just before you exited your game, you did something with stack everything redux? is that where the stuttering happened or was it somewhere else?

The biggest problem is that the issue is non-recreateable (as far as i can tell). So I might not even know if it still persists until hours later.
issues like those happen all the time KSHDJKS feel free to come back if you notice it happening later in your playthrough! its always a pain when you dont know immediately if something works to fix your issue though

none currently. this save is still fairly fresh. I haven't been able to play much further since I keep having to reset the game to be able to play so my progress keeps reseting

It's not the stuttering that feels like the main issue
it's not constant
at a random point it just starts and doesn't end. also it's not just frame drops. it's literally 0.5 fps according to msi afterburner.
also according to afterburner I have 0% gpu usage while in the game.
i know you said youve added smapi as an exception to rtss and it didnt help, but did you also add the vanilla game?

Ok, you said it's a new pc. Are you absolutely certain you're running sdv on your dedicated graphics card? I think I remember a similar issue being solved by switching to the dedicated graphics card

So I did what the guide reccomended and launched the game with only smapi on... and it the stutter still happened

!legacy if it still stutters vanilla, you may have to try using one of these branches of the game instead
The game has two 'legacy' versions you can use:
legacy_1.5.6is the last version before Stardew Valley 1.6. This is a (probably temporary) branch for players whose mods don't work in 1.6 yet.compatibilityis the latest game update, but using outdated frameworks. This is more compatible with some older systems, but mods do not work in this branch.
To switch branch:
- On Steam: In your Steam library, right-click Stardew Valley and select Properties... > Betas, and then choose the branch under the dropdown.
- On GOG: From the game's page in GOG Galaxy, click the settings icon > Manage installation > Configure... and choose the branch under the Beta channels dropdown.
legacy would work with mods, but its ver 1.5.6 of the game, so youd lose your current save . compat doesnt work with mods at all period
I'm still on day 4 so the save doesn't matter much.
Changing the mods for their 1.5.6 counterparts is probably gonna be the longest part
I'm real sorry, but I'm out of ideas. I'm fairly certain the issue isn't going to be smapi on its own, it's going to be with the way smapi is interacting with your hardware, but beyond that I don't know what to tell you to do

HD portraits is dead for now - I believe the base mod is being worked on slowly, but for now, use Portraiture

Portraiture does somewhat support HD portrait packs natively, you just have to remove the dependency on HD Portrait from the manifest

It's just a flat text file so easy enough to edit - I'd get the exact syntax but on mobile

Portraiture would grab the portrait changes and add them as an option or you could just pull all the images, put them in one folder, and put that in the Portraits folder inside Portraiture (which allows for easy mix and match)

They're missing Content Patcher
and Farm Type Manager
which means they have 621 errors in their log, which, as you can imagine, has side effects on your game too
yeah you have some large content mods, which they've tried to install but they're missing Content Patcher and Farm Type Manager so they don't work, so your game is trying to do things that rely on data their game doesn't have and then everything breaks
