my game just started lagging and I haven't had this problem before and the new mods I installed didn't cause lag b4, is there anyway I can fix this because I have played around with graphics and it didn't help. I also don't know which mods would be safe to remove for now

It is intended for Angler and Rodmancer to disconsider trap fish, correct. I'm not sure about the MAX icon.
Edit: yep, the MAX icon also explicitly skips trap fish. Now I'm not sure if that's better or not. 🤔
You have to turn them on and save first, and then you will be able to edit them.

hi friends, i just got Ridgeside Village installed/extracted into my mods folder, I followed the Install walkthrough page and the mod isn't in game? Have I done something wrong? I know the site said that nothing in Pelican Town will be different, however when you walk to the bus stop you'll have a cutscene with Lewis and Lenny, but I've not gotten it on a fresh save. I checked the mods folder for the correct things, etc. Thanks in advance c:

it appears you havent installed ridgeside. are you sure you put it in the right folder? or enabled it in stardrop, since it appears youre using that?
How do I enable it in stardrop if it was manually downloaded/extracted? It didn't give me an option to mod manager download, only the other.
when you open stardrop, there should be a list of the mods with checkboxes next to them. you can enable it with that

cause normally, i know if i download something using the mod manager download, it'll prompt me to allow the download in Stardrop, but on Ridgeside, I wasn't given the option to download via mod manager, I had to download it through Chrome, then extract it via downloads and extracted into the Mods folder itself.
ok, can you, in stardrop, go to view, then settings, and look at the mod folder path that it lists? is that the same folder that you put ridgeside in?
if not, try moving it there and launch stardrop again to see if it registers

It also seems like you have extra files in your Mods folder, and that can make things more difficult for you to install correctly
You possibly have unzipped mod files directly into the Mods folder instead of into their own folder
can you tell me what files are extra so I can delete them?
I tried to, i had to take some files out so stardew could find them, which I realize might've been a mistake
(The mod folders dictate the format of the framework each mod should utilize and/or subfolders to read the files. Never leave a mod file outside of its respective folder. /genuine.)
Hello! I'm very sorry to bother, i would need advice as to how to start modding. I'm visually impaired and use a screen reader, (+english isn't my native language) and I'm really struggling with the process... So far I'm following the modding player guide, but already I'm stuck. " but i'm confused, where is this game folder?

By default, your game folder will be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley
It won't be there if you changed anything or installed steam to a different location

When two mods both edit dialogue or images, whichever mod loads last "wins" and is the one you see in the game. If you've added the dependency section, the only thing left to do is make sure ModAuthor.FirstMod is repalced with the actual mod you want it to load after

in your downloads folder, youll find the .zip file of the mod. right click and select "extract" and have it go to your mods folder

You could try spritemaster
You can try installing the Profiler mod to help diagnose what's causing lag
Profiler times a bunch of thing that mods do so that if one is misbehaving, it'll tell you which one

Using Vortex Mod Manager with Stardew Valley has the risk of your mods not getting installed properly, and other issues. Consider doing manual mod installation or using Stardrop, a mod manager that was purpose built for SDV, instead!

If you're using windows it has a built in file extractor. If not, you can download 7zip. Sooo

First step is to extract the zipped folder. The game cannot read those, nor does downloading Smapi mean you have it installed. You have to launch the installer, which will then add the Mods folder to your Stardew Valley folder. Click the instructions for your OS system because Linux, MacOS and Windows have different processes.
If you don't know how to extract a folder, if you have Windows, you just right click the folder, and select extract all. With Smapi, you can just extract it to your downloads and run it-it will just automatically install itself where it needs to go. With mods, you have to extract them to the Mods folder.

but the swimsuit from Stardew Valley overlaps the bath clothes from the mod. I tried reloading the mod and redownloading it (making sure to delete the mod before redownloading it) and can't seem to make it work. Has anyone had this issue?

Okay I've got SMAPI installed. I like that it has a separate console window. Decided to check out the built-in commands, but for some reason I get "access denied" trying to open the game data folder?
Like I have no problem opening %APPDATA% manually (other than the mild inconvenience of it), so I'm not sure why it's having a problem.
SMAPI should be running under my username/SID?
The freeze time command seems to be working at least, which means I don't necessarily need the mod I was going to add, TimeMaster... I'll still probably use it out of convenience, but the command is nice as a backup
for what it's worth, it doesn't work for me either, but if you can open it manually i wouldn't worry about it too much

Which version of the mod are you using? If you are using the one from Nexus, it is outdated.

Android SMAPI does not currently work for versions of SDV past 1.5.6.39. We do not know if or when it will be made compatible. It is not possible to downgrade to .39 through legal means so do not ask how to do this.
Mod support for 1.5 on Android is still experimental, so many mods are broken or buggy. That's often something SMAPI needs to fix, and we may not be able to provide a solution.

Some of my crops are mysteriously growing when I exit my house at the start of a day,, like I have some melons I just planted a day or two ago and suddenly they are fully grown, seemingly happening as I walk past them. At first I thought it might be TimeMaster mod which I installed last night, but then I uninstalled that to test and it's still happening.
It only seems to happen to the first few crops I pass after exiting my farmhouse but that just makes it even stranger.
Actually, correction, everything is instantly growing, but only after a collision check against the tile (so the server says it's grown but my client doesn't understand why. Even in single player, where the client and server are the same application). It seems like adding SMAPI might've broken something when initially loading the save?
Nothing except the blueberries and the peppers on the left should be fully grown
the melons, flowers, wheat, etc grew (or I suppose the client got informed of the growth, idk) when I walked over them, after a few seconds, and the wild seeds grew when I walked into them (blocked movement)

hi, my smapi doesn't work, even if I don't have any mods in it. so I reset my pc, I have to reinstall smapi and when I did, I get this very long error: [game] Game.Initialize() caught exception initializing XACT:

and it goes even further, does anyone know this error?

in your steam library you can set filters for your games. if you don't see it, it may be excluded by your current library filter
if it's not, you should be able to find it by searching for "stardew" in your library

Hello I haven't even started my first playthrough yet. I watched a video on how to install all mods on steam through nexus. Everything at the beginning screen seemed fine. Then I updated windows 10 to 2h22. Now when I open stardew it has no music and the side of the screen looks "cut"

go into the game folder and launch Stardew Valley.exe
you can do that by launching Stardew Valley.exe instead of StardewModdingAPI.exe.
if you don't know how to find your game folder, and you're on steam, you can right-click the game in your library, select Manage > Browse Local Files
if you don't see the .exe part, that's okay, just launch the one with the game icon

okay, so in that case t's a problem with stardew itself, and not the mods. I advise heading over to #vanilla-tech-support and asking there as they have more epxerience dealing with problems with the base game
(uninstalling/reintalling your mods will have no effect on the base game, so it won't help you here. You can still do so if you like, but it's a waste of time.)
you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the game itself, though IDK if that will help. If you do decide to do that though, make sure to back up your mods first and reinstall SMAPI afterwards!
i have challenging bundles and i changed the config name to the one wildflour said to from the mega mod pack but it didnt remix the bundles, did i do it wrong or is it just not gonna remix bc im rlly confused and wanted the remixed bundles lol

i was wondering about some specific mods. the [PPJA] mods often have multiple files with different acronyms at the start and i am not sure what they stand for 
i don't know if i am supposed to download both/all of the files or if the acronyms are maybe mod dependencies. in that case, i have all the mods it says it needs, so would i still download both versions?
i always have a way of accidentally making manual modding very difficult for myself lol
if you list the acronyms we can explain them for you
mods like ppja are basically multiple small mods packaged together, since each thing does something different. You should keep them all in the one folder they're downloaded in
[DGA] and [MFM] are the current ones i don't know
dont use the DGA version of PPJA mods
use the JA versions instead
(the DGA versions are a bit broken)
avoid the DGA ones. DGA is a fine framework but the PPJA mods were converted poorly and dont work properly
MFM is mail framework mod I believe

basically used to let NPCs "send" you letters
anyways, for example, in the JA version of PPJA you'll have a [JA] folder which adds the items, a [PFM] folder which adds artisan machine rules, an [MFM] folder which allows for custom letters, etc. All of the pieces work together to make the whole mod work

you should only be downloading one files from the mod page, can you send a screenshot of what you're confused about?

You can change it mid save
It's entirely based on what you typed in the CCCB config

Vin wasn't wholly wrong, Lulu. Many bundle mods will break saves if added mid-save or changed mid-save.
Which is why we recommend new saves.

(Usually the only reason it doesn't work on a different drive is if you don't set Smapi to follow the path properly. It defaults to C:)
No my audio and screen resolution was off after windows update
But pal world was working fine
Is that because I added the mods when it was on the c drive?

I Uninstalled and the reinstalled to d drive
But I was still having the audi and frame issues when it was on the original c drive
(It could be the monobug. No audio output would just straight up crash the game)
I can only speculate without your log.
So whenever you move the game to a different drive you should reinstall Smapi to ensure the file path it follows is right. At least that's my understanding. (feel free to correct me Myuu.)

some mods you cant tell right away theyve changed something, but youll see them loading in the console

console commands enables some things to be used on the black window that you see
(Not unless the mod description tells you for debugging)
for instance debug fin goldenwalnut will give you a golden walnut
But in general, I wouldn't suggest using console commands when you have CJBCheats
thats the thing, its not popping up
the mod menu list thing isnt popping up when in backapck or setings menu
Are you in game? CJBCheats pops up using a keyboard shortcut in game
It's not part of the normal in-game menu

Hey, I've been playing with a few mods, (Biggest are seasonal outfits, diverse stardew valley, ridgeside village, and stardew valley expanded)
and there's noticeable load times, I have an alright computer, so I'm not sure if it's my computer or something wrong with the mods, I'm pretty new to SDV modding
Specs:
RAM: 32GB
CPU: Intel Core i9-9980HK
GPU: Nvidia Quadro T2000
how long are the load times exactly?
about a second or less longer than normal, but randomly there will be a very long load
it only happens when loading new areas, not when starting the game, which seems to be where most people report issues
It's very noticeable, normally stardew valley loading times aren't noticeable for me
idk maybe I just need to get used to it but it seems a bit odd
hm, yeah i cant say ive heard similar but its probably nothing major? you can try using spritemaster or fastloads to see if either of those help

All the things in Optional portraits and sprites are not standalone mods. You are supposed to use those to replace the images in the mods you're using.
The Harvey Mod is an xnb mod. Don't use an xnb mod. They can break your game. Just delete it.
I'm not sure what's happening with the Romanceable Rasmodia mod. Can you provide your SMAPI log?

Okay, so I'm pretty sure the [CP] Romanceable Rasmodia folder supposed to be a replacer for the Romanceable Rasmodia mod. So if you don't have that installed, you can safely erase it.
And as for the portrait and sprite, ig imma try deleting them from the mod folder and then try adding them back if so happens there's a "replace" option thing imma hit it:> tho imma see what I can do, thank u <( ̄︶ ̄)↗ ✨ tho imma be back later to tell what happens TvT
