we don't mind people reporting bugs in this server, but we need to make sure 100% that they aren't being caused by a mod and are in the vanilla game before reporting them

Hello! I am in need of some help, I'm using the "Canon-Friendly Dialogue Expansion" mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/2544?tab=posts&BH=0as) a sort of framework to create a meme mod for me and my friends. However I am unable to get neither the original mod nor our edited version to work in game. I only have Content Patcher and CJB Cheats (to get to festivals quickly to test) in my mods folder, and SMAPI says that it's being loaded. I've tried -going through year 1's version of the festival first, as the mod only effects years 2-3 -minor editing of the mod files -deleting and redownloading everything, but that's really all I can think of to do as there isn't any obvious cause of the problem. I would really appreciate it if someone could hop in call with me for a minute and help me figure it out via stream. Thank you!

Right, so I've been testing in Year 2 Egg festival, and the NPC's are supposed to say for example 'Abigail":"Sam? Sebastian? Did you guys even try last year?",' in the base mod, and something else for the one I've edited, but she isn't saying either and instead says what I assume is the base game dialogue

see that _y2?
your "Abigail" is only editing Y1.
_y2 means it's the key that works for year 2.
it doesn't proceed forward, it just basically means odd years she says the Abigail portion and even ones she does the _y2 key
you'll have to either duplicate the key and add in a "Abigail_y2" key or null it out.
(This is a #making-mods-general question btw.)

it seems like the mod's content.json is missing something, most likely a closing bracket
but you'll have to troubleshoot that yourself as nsfw content isn't allowed to be discussed here as per the rules and im not particularly interested in doing so either

somehow it's always the NSFW mods that break. i'm so sorry 
if you're able to, i recommend download vs code or notepad++, which are like, fancier notepads with more features. and opening the mod's content.json. i know vs code will read the code and tell you where the error(s) is/are

It's discontinued/Stopped it's distribution, so what you've done is actually mod piracy. Well anyway besides the point, you need an older version of DaisyNiko's Tilesheets.

Give whitelist or exception to sdv folder on your antivirus. Then reinstall smapi again

Looking for Love is geared more for the older players wanting to romance someone who isn't... basically a teenager. It's a conversion of the old Siv's Marriage mod, updated for modern Content Patcher practices so that there's no need for replacing vanilla files with out-of-date XNBs anymore.
Hence I reiterate - literally
My friend, there are some old mods that still work. Also, I'm well aware of the risks, which is why I backed up as much as I could before installing.

AeroCore's a core mod, so it wouldn't affect anything in game on its own, so it's fine
More Grass is fine, but it doesn't give you more grass, it just gives you more grass cosmetics if you install More Grass packs

tldr vortex is not suited for stardew modding, especially not for smapi because it itself is not a mod

Without mods, this is not realistically possible
That stuff is packed up in XNB files so you couldn't edit them like you think.

Hi! I hope this won't be too long a post. I do have a major problem and I don't know where to go from here. I've been playing modded for a while and things were mostly fine. A couple days ago, I made some changes to my mod list (removing a couple mods to lighten the load (the game was starting to lag quite a bit) and doing some modifications on a map with tiled). I started having problems from there. At first, I had messed up a small thing with my map tilesheets management, I could start the game but not launch a save, crashing when building the map. I went back and solved this problem, and log doesn't show map problems anymore. But then, I started having the game crash whenever I try to launch a save with a DivideByZeroException, and going back to title menu. I'll add too logs :
first, in this log, I tried to launch my save, was sent back to the menu, tried to launch again to the same result, and tried to launch another save (to see if it was specific to mine) and got the same result again.

Then, after researching a bit, I tried to see if some game file themselves had a problem, I checked the files integrity on steam, there was one mistake and the file was reloaded, but did'nt change anything for my problem. I then tried to uninstall and reinstall the game itself, still no change on the game crashing on launching a save file. Then, this is my next log to share, in this, I tried to launch my save, to no avail, then tried to create a new save file, witch worked, but then I saved that one, went back to title, and tried to launch again the new save file, and it crashed again with the divide by zero thing.

the problem doesn't seem to be with the map file anymore, I only told about it in case it's relevant, but it's not the source of the problem anymore, I solved it (and yes, I reloaded the mod and tried again without messing up the tilesheets this time)
That's is what that error means. I would remove the mod and try again.
It's a divide by zero because it's dividing a tilesheet of zero width, which is invalid, which tells me an tilesheet reference is fucked

Question about the (Giant crops) mod, it says to put the png into the asset folder but even tho i do that it gives the error on smapi that the folder is empty ( yes i tried to make a new folder called assets and replaced everything) still didnt work. Any ideas?

If finding a log is too confusing and you're able to load your save, you can install the In-Game SMAPI Log Uploader to get the log without having to search through the files. Itβs in my mod folder, i was testing a mod so i needed the game to charge fast so I withdraw SDVE RDSV ESC, lavril npc, always raining in the valley and never ending adventure, but when I finished I put them back in my mod folder the issues is that the game does recognize that those mod are in the mod folder but I donβt see them and when I download it again and put it in the mod folder it is saying that there two mod, the issue Is that I donβt see those mods in mod folder although they do appear in smapi and my game

Generic Mod Config Menu (or GMCM https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/5098) adds the option to edit some, but not all, mod configs from either the title screen or the options page in a save. It also has a special screen to edit keybinds for all mods with GMCM integration.
The presence of the gear it adds to the title screen is not a method for checking whether mods are installed, only whether GMCM is installed.

Generic Mod Config Menu is a mod that lets you edit the config of mods in game
So whatever you're seeing in the config.json will appear as an option in the GMCM
And it's easier to change options through there rather than opening the config.json

Hi everyone! I have stardew valley modded on my steam deck. I made the mistake of moving smapi to my sd card instead of keeping it on my desktop. I got it mostly back to working order but get an error message when booting up the game. I am having the hardest time finding my error logs to get help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just slept two days and closed the game. I will boot it up now. Also, So I have tried very hard to find my log and I am not seeing a way to find it.

hello, i have a question, can you play multiplayer with someone who is not using mods if you are using mods?
so my game won't open now after updating some mods, I have tried deleting and reinstalling them just to make sure the files are correct but it did not seem to work so I am unsure:

For a .zip file, just right-click (or long-press on Android) it and choose the option like extract or uncompress. trying to change my portrait mods to be not pytk dependant, this is what they say in their manifest files however:

We'd need a log from when you can't move for that. Normally your log will spit out errors and those are what we would need to troubleshoot
....and that's making me suspect the XNB mods portion here too.

This is interesting. Upon warp into farm, you're only getting cosmetic alterations, and stuff like Cozy Farmhouse Kitchen not having the files means the change just doesn't get applied

It may be your farmhouse map. with only 888 downloads and being two years old, and some reports of bugginess on porting in and out...
you're also early on in your file, so it might be that. The posts indicate someone stating Desperately want to use this mod but I cannot re-enter the house after I leave it for the first time because the doorway mapping is off a few tiles. Any chance you can fix? :)

Something's up with your Too Many Swatches AT mod. Given the length of that filepath, I'm going to hazard a guess that it's too long of a filepath
You can try reinstalling, but that's probably not fixable without recoding some stuff
(This is why people abbreviate, mod maker!)
Hi everyone! I finally bought SV for android and was super excited to get mods but it's giving me an error and I was wondering if anyone could help. I can't manage to copy it but I will take a screenshot. It mentions a newtonsoft serialization error, line 1 position 146?

Sorry missed the reply. If I installed from steam and it downloaded my savegame do I still have to copy over the Saves folder?
I would say keep a copy of it just in case. I don't know how reliable Steam cloud is, but if you hop on and everything's fine, then just keep playing as usual

Version is... the version of the mod? So if I publish something, and make changes, the thing without the changes is one version, and the thing with the changes is another version?
