Hello ! So Ive been having this problem where stardew valley wonā€™t launch whenever i press on my save in the loads menu. It just sends me straight back to the start screen every time. This wasnā€™t a problem until last night after I played a private co op farm with my friend, and they have since deleted the farm. Idk if the fact that i played co op and then tried playing single player after exiting the co op farm has anything to do with it? I have tried everything from performing a transplant, deleting folders, copying my save, downloading XNA, running as administrator, uninstalling the game, etc. I play a modded game so if this belongs in another channel do tell me.

I feel a bit silly asking about this, but this afternoon my game takes forever to load (5-10 minutes) and freezes upon loading the list of save files (after clicking Load on the starting screen). While this morning everything was working fine. It's the same whether I load SMAPI-less via Steam or with SMAPI's .exe. I've tried deleting startup_preferences, checked game file integrity, restarted laptop, plugged audio jack in and out (music plays fine over speakers or headset), and now I'm a little bit at a loss. Anybody know something that I might try?

I've had this won't load problem before, and played in compatibility mode for a few months. But I do prefer playing the normal version, so I can add mods. And it did work normally (the non-compatibility mode) with SMAPI and some mods for a few weeks up until this morning, but not tonight.

In start menu choose co-op, host one. Then when you want to play and invite people choose the game from youā€™re hosting from there and invite people when ur in the game. Hitting escape and going to settings and scrolling till you see where it says invite friends

In the Finder, select Home from the Go menu (your user folder will open up)
2. Now in your user folder select New Folder from the File menu and name it local (we can't name it .local directlyā€” boo, hiss!)
3. But we can fix that! Search Terminal and open it
4. Enter or copy/paste the following command: mv -i local .local and hit Return/Enter (**see below for an explanation of that we're doing here)
4a. Our new local folder should have disappeared! In Unix filesystems, putting a period before a file or folder name flags it as hidden.
5. Let's find it! Back in your user folder in the Finder, select Go To Folder from the Go menu
6. Type in .local in the box and click Go
7. There it is! Still there, just renamed to be hidden. Make a new folder in there and call it share
8. Open share and make a new folder in there called StardewValley
9. Open StardewValley and make a new folder in there called Screenshots

Once the recipe is known it is also possible to obtain Wild Bait from Fishing Treasure Chests.
I'm not completely sure if this is the right place to ask, but I think this part of the wiki is wrong. I'm almost 100% sure that I've gotten Wild Bait from a chest before knowing the recipe.
(Never been to Ginger Island, so it wasn't from that)

I'm so sorry about this, I've had it happen on 3 files, but one of them I got the recipe for it afterwards. I checked another one, and I didn't think I had the recipe since I did not remember that cutscene, and I had recently played that file. Started a new save file, nothing out of the ordinary, when the CC opened on Spring 5th, I did the usual and walked into the CC, read the Golden Scroll to trigger Meet the Wizard the next morning. Spring 6th, the quest didn't show up, so I thought it was strange, CC will not open up at any time of day, and I just went about my business, now I'm on Spring 11, and the Quest still isn't there, and I can't get into the Wizard's Tower at all either, checked various times from 6am-11pm as per his schedule. About to reach 4 hours on the save and that's a little annoying that I might just have to can this save file.

I've never come across this issue before either, nor can I find this issue on forums, since every time I inquire, it's just guides on how to unlock the bundles, or activate the 'Rat Problem' quest.

Hi- im near crying at this point because I can't figure out whats causing the problems with the "connection failed" error on my sdv world and being unable to connect with friends
I've gone through the basic steps off the wiki and the pinned guide
It's not something to do with my firewall, as its disabled now- and i even went as far as to uninstall my game altogether
Its also unrelated to internet, or steam itself because it allows for me to connect to other games, and my friend's list through stuff like dont starve, terraria, and although not a steam game- minecraft....

I also play purely vanilla without having modified anything like where it opens through (like smapi)
and i dont use a vpn
the only thing that works is over LAN which is fine for me and my sister but it doesn't work for anyone not in the same house as me....

I want to play with 4 friends tgt in the current version (which is 5 players in total), so I changed the <playerLimit>-1</playerLimit> to <playerLimit>5</playerLimit> (according to the post), but then I can only build 3 cabins at most, while my friends havent tried to join online and tested it out yet.
Does it mean the method failed if I cannot build 4 cabins? Or does it mean ppl are able to join without a new cabin?

@ArcaneDescent @JessYoMama You can do it without a mod. Go to %appdata%/StardewValley and open the file called startup_preferences. ctrl + f for "playerLimit" and you'll find something like this: <playerLimit>-1</playerLimit>.

Change the -1 to any number you like...

Anyone know of any fix when multiplayer keeps kicking out a player every 20 minutes/ish. We are 3 playing together, every 10-40 minutes one person gets "Disconnected". We all have reliable connections, so not a network issue.

about multiplayer, I know that with GOG you can play co-op with 2 PCs in one house having one copy of SV, but can you play online co-op with the same 2 PCs and any other person that has the game on steam/GOG?

Im having a hard time with multiplayer. I can connect to my friends server but i get huge lag, /ping tells me I have 300-400ms, but actions are delayed by nearly 20s. Does anybody know a fix?

Well if it's pc make sure something else isn't downloading ect, if it's console try restarting your router, that's about all you can do there

I was connecting in a multiplayer world that I was hosting but it was taking a while so I restarted the game. After I restarted and loaded back in the world had reset. All my items in my inventory, relationships and money stayed but my buildings, furniture and date had reset back to spring 1st. I was somewhere around summer 25th year one btw. Anyone know something of this bug?

Hi! We're also having trouble trying to play online at the moment (through Steam). While the game gives the host (my gf) an invite code to hand out, the game also was stuck saying "connecting" as it let her play in single player. Restarting her PC didn't help. On my end, entering the invite code repeatedly just times out.

To be clear, this is not our first time playing online but it is our first session of today.
