Good evening all, new farmer here (only 60 hours in) and loving the game so far. Been playing majority of the time with my spouse in multiple player but she disconnects pretty frequently. I host and she joins my game over steam. We are both connected to the same router via ethernet and maybe 10 ft apart. Any suggestions on fixes? Both running Windows 11 if that information is needed.

Hi, I can't seem to be able to plant a normal (mahogany/oak) tree 1 tile away from a fully grown fruit tree.
I read the wiki and its mentioned that once a fruit tree is fully grown, there are no further requirements to keep the 3x3 area around it fully clear, which means I should be able to plant a normal tree 1 tile away from it. However the game is preventing this with a "too close to fruit tree" error.
Is this intended behaviour?

Saves on consoles cannot be transferred to other consoles, PC, or mobile. The consoles don't allow access to them so you can't grab them and move them. Consoles of the same type (xbox > xbox, playstation > playstation, switch > switch) will transfer through cloud saves.

There's been an issue plaguing my friends and I and I'm probably not the first one to voice this problem. When playing multiplayer we get frequent disconnects from everyone who is not a host. I've tried to find solutions online and I see others having the issue but with differing solutions that don't always work for everyone. The disconnects are extremely annoying and are making the game unplayable for us. It doesn't matter if we're playing vanilla or modded either they both suffer from the same issue. We had this issue, seems mostly like black magic and random bad luck.
But I seem to have mostly eliminated it by trimming down our mod loadout
Particularly when it comes to code mods, and especailly known slow code mods.
As well as the smapi/cp performance updates and spritemaster
IDK if better performance actually made our connection stable, but it sure didn't hurt.

The mods we aren't running specifically are grampleton fields, timemultiplier (we use pause in multiplayer instead), unlimited players, and automatic gates
Doesnt seem like any of those should cause major issues.
You can try adding spritemaster though (which improves performance) and the latest CP/SMAPI beta.

On PC Stardew Valley uses GOG servers, https://www.gog.com/ More info about GOG here. So if these servers go down, then multiplayer on PC will go down in its entirety on PC. Even if you have the Steam version it still uses GOG servers. A good indication that they are down is if you see a spike on the Down Detector site https://downdetector.com/status/gog-com/

On PC Stardew Valley uses GOG servers, https://www.gog.com/ More info about GOG here. So if these servers go down, then multiplayer on PC will go down in its entirety on PC. Even if you have the Steam version it still uses GOG servers. A good indication that they are down is if you see a spike on the Down Detector site https://downdetector.com/status/gog-com/

I've recently started experiencing an issue when i host my vanilla multiplayer farm.
My friend, who i've played with prior weeks with no issues, has suddenly started disconnecting at random points at a frequency of roughly one disconnect per day, but sometimes twice, or sometimes not.
We've experimented with me joining a farm he's hosted, and noone is experiencing any issues, but we'd still like to solve the issue that occurs when he plays my hosted game
does anyone know of any troubleshooting or fixes i could attempt?

Hello! So a friend asked me to play Stardew Valley with her. My only computer is a Macintosh (powerful though, Core i7 with 16 GB of RAM, and a SSD...) and before she gifted me game (on Steam), I told her to wait for me to check if the game would run well. I downloaded a 1.4.4 version (i know, piracy is bad but this wasn't my intent!) and the game ran finely with my temps not exceeding 70°C. I told her we were good to go and I know have the game on Steam which is my only game installed on this Mac (I don't play). But while the game on Steam NEEDS Steam to be running, it makes my computer go to 95-100°C, even though nothing else is running. Is this an issue with STEAM or the game? Thanks for the help

i don't know why but I disabled steam 3D acceleration and hardware stuff and it's better
i don't go more than 85°C now
which is still a lot but it's and Intel hD 4000 after all

it is cooling, I manually modified the curve of the fan
but steam was using more ressources than the game itself
which was a bummer
because aside a chat window, nothing was opened on steam side
and you can't close steam to play stardew
which is why I hate launchers
they take away the liberties
i know macs aren't perfects it's a 2012 one and it still holds 10 hours on web browsing, 7 hours on series binging, and run both windows and mac at the same time without too much hassle, i hate more recent macs cause you can't upgrade anything or even repair
anyway, problem solved, it was steam the issue ! (still partly is, but i don't think i can do anything about it)

It works waaaay better for us than connecting through steam though
IDK about playing on different versions of SDV though, that sounds like asking for trouble

Did you manage to port forward your router?
Also steam is just wonky sometimes.
Thats why we resorted to direct IP.
But make sure your friend is online in steam and that its actually running of course.

Maybe a complex question, (Does this belong in #archived-modded-support ?) but I had a bug in which when I interacted with the junimo scroll in the "rat problem" task, my camera would lock, animations would stop, and get softlocked. I managed to fixed it with an old forum post ConcernedApe made himself by setting the LastAppliedSaveFix entry in the save file to 30.
The post said, "If there is a number greater than 31 in this field, do not proceed."
The number on my save file was 35 but this has been the only fix I've found.
What does this number do, will this impact or break my save later because it was greater than 31 and I changed it anyway?

Ah it sounds like your antivirus is conflicting with Stardew Valley
Try whitelisting the whole folder
Or simply disabling it temporarily
Either that or you got some serious system issue
Or a corrupted game install

Found out recently that this has support for split screen on pc and thought it would be a great idea to just stretch the window across 2 screens so we both have our own full screen...issue is though is whenever I stretch the window to fill the full 3840x1080 expanse of the two of them the window instantly jumps to the right screen...and if I drag it too far back to the left it jumps again. including an image for reference of what I am trying to accomplish...just not stretched all the way sadly. it is also the ONLY windows application that has done this too me

There is a somewhat bug with window snapping using the new game engine, you could try the old game engine but then you couldn't use whatever 3 mods you are using

Hi all, me and my friend have been trying to play co-op on pc and I can join and play with her, but I keep getting disconnected, sometimes in a few minutes, or after a day or so in game. We have tried a lot of the solutions online, but still keep having the issues. I'm also on ethernet and have not had any issues with any other games dropping connection. We are running through steam if that helps at all. We started to play on Playstation to see if the issue was on there too and haven't had issues, but we are hoping to figure out the issues playing on pc. Anyone have anything they recommend?
