Make sure you fully uninstall XNA

  1. uninstall XNA Framework;
  2. open C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_32;
  3. fully delete all the folders that start with Microsoft.Xna;
  4. then reinstall XNA Framework one more time and see if it works.

Hi. I recently redownloaded the game on steam and it's doing something kind of odd. When I plug my headphones in, the music continues to just play out loud through my laptop speakers and not through my headphones. However, if I listen to something like youtube or spotify, the sound travels through my headphones normally.

I am just a little confused by it is all Idk why it's doing this. I had stardew on my old laptop with mods and stuff, but I never carried any of that data to this new laptop I'm using now. So I don't think anything involving mods should really be messing the game up.

You'd have to restart your game for it to switch, if you per say unplug your headphones while in game and it's going through them the game will crash

So my animals always have food, and i try to pet them almost every day, yet their hearts haven't gone up at all and are still at zero. The only animals that have any hearts at all are the ones in the barn with the auto petter (which are actually at max hearts) My animals used to have hearts, but i forgot to feed them for a while after unlocking ginger Island and getting sidetracked, and all their hearts dropped. Anyways, i started feeding them regularly again and petting them every day, expecting their hearts to go back up, but it's been almost 3 entire seasons and the hearts haven't gone up at all. They have heaters, can go outside, and whenever i click on them it says "they look really happy today!".

Unless they are programmed to hold grudges, i think my animals are broken, but I'd feel bad about selling them since I'm attached to them kinda lol

Hi folks, I'm new to this server so I hope this isn't a question that's been asked 1000 times already (I did a search and couldn't find the answer) - is there ANY way to move my PS4 save file to my new PS5? I have the save in the cloud, downloaded it to my ps5, etc and none of that has worked. Is the PS5 considered a different "version" of the game (despite the game being listed as a PS4 game on the console?)

it seems it only have two options, fullscreen and windowed mode.
but even on windowed mode its still too big, it takes 90% of my screen.

Not sure if this is the right place to post but there is a minor error on the SDV Website in regards to launching SMAPI with Steam.

When you put the code in the Launcher Box in Steam, the Website says for you to press 'ok'. There is no 'ok' button. Might confuse some people. 🙂

any time the error talks about an "XML document", it's referring to a save. as to why it keeps corrupting i don't know why that would be, but once you have the save sorted out you can check the file permissions for that folder on the host's computer and try to make sure no other programs are interfering while the game saves at night

Weird issue on v 1.5.4. in Windows 10. For reasons I need to run Stardew Valley.exe from a .bat file. (start "" [full path to SV.exe]). Works totally fine if .bat file is launched from the game directory. No sound when launched from anywhere else.

Currently using GOG Galaxy Cloud to sync saves but it also saves the starting preferences file with starting resolution. The starting resolution is messed up when going from one computer to the next. Hello, my game crashes when I try to load my save file of 40 hours, I play on Windows 10, local co-op, 2 people with controllers.
The first part from the ErrorLog says " Message: There is an error in XML document (1, 1227856). InnerException: System.Exception: The specified Tile Index is out of range".
I already reseted my game files and everything is in order. I don't use any mods and never did. I made a new safe file and it loads perfectly fine. I tried to use the _old safe files but the game still crashes even then, I tried swapping the SaveFileInfo with one from a working save, the contents of the save file (not SaveFileInfo) looks fine.
And I did all the other basic things like restarting the PC and running the game as administrator, nothing works, what should I do?

Hey everyone. Been playing this game for a long time now across various platforms and just started it last night with my wife on the Switch. Is it normal to get little hitches where the screen freezes for a split second every now and then? Seems to happen at total random when just walking around, not just when someone is doing something.

Can you do all these, I've been unable to get someone to follow them all and then reply:

1. Find your game files https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started#Find_your_game_folder

2. Delete StardewValley.exe. And Content/Maps, just to be sure... ... ...

3. Verify your files again https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/0C48-FCBD-DA71-93EB. Since you're missing the GAME at this point, it should notice and force it to redownload. Does it say # of files failed to validate and will be required?

4. Try loading your save again. If it works, pleaaaase let us know! If it crashes again, can you post the latest error log? (Just dragging the file here onto Discord is fine.)

The beta is opt-in, so if you haven't specifically joined the beta on Steam, you're still on 1.5.4. The log you posted in #archived-modded-support also has the version in it at the top. (You're on 1.5.4.) You can also check in game by clicking the ? box on the right of the title screen.

Entries are added upon finding the artifact. The artifact does not need to be donated to the Museum or shipped via the shipping box to count towards the collection.

Note that artifacts found in Fishing Treasure Chests or obtained by tilling soil in the mines may not appear as found on the collections tab. Dragging the artifact outside the inventory window and allowing it to be taken back into inventory may correct this. Holding the artifact in inventory overnight may also correct this.

Hey I was having some perfomance issues with SV, it's kinda laggy especially when I am at the beach or when it is raining. Anyway to fix this? The game ran smoothly back when I last played (around the time multiplayer got released) so I know it can't really be my hardware

Hardware is not what matters with stardew. Stardew is single cored, so even if you have a threadripper, it could still lag like a bitch 😛 Are you using mods?

You can change your processor affinity to not have stardew use thread 0 and 1 and it usually makes it better

I have a bit of a silly question. On my Switch, there is a button that jumps to the "add to existing stacks button" in chests. Is there an equivalent shortcut on the keyboard in the Steam/PC version of the game? I think that your saves could be kept, assuming this save isn't broken, but we should back them up. https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Saves#Mobile_.28Android.29 has instructions for how to find your saves on Android. You could try backing that up and then putting the files back to wherever they need to be with the storebought version.

And sure, you can send the save by zipping the whole folder and dropping it here (just like the errorlog). This page has instructions for how to find it https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Saves#Find_your_save_files.

If it's the same issue a few other people were having, the save itself was fine and multiple other people could load it, which is why I was trying to force an update. That route did end up working for someone, but I don't know. Most people don't reply after that part :|
