Important thing to note is that you need to start smapi through steam for the achievements to still work. This is also indicated when installing smapi.

Hello! I'm having an issue on Mac Stardew Valley. I can't start the game. I have no mods, and I've tried uninstalling both steam and SV. I saw the Terminal when it started and shut down, it says it doesn't have access to my /users/username/.config file, but when I try to find it I literally do not have the .config file. I tried to start the game on a different account it works without problem, and there I can find the .config file.

If it begins with . it's usually a hidden file, so you have to toggle 'show hidden files'
On Mac it should be CMD + Shift + . (<- full stop)

So update on being unable to move cabins if all 3 of them are chosen at the farm's creation: Wizard nor robin allows for the moving of the cabins, (doesn't show up in robin's list of buildings); however, deleting one of them and then going to rebuild another does allow for the moving of cabins that were spawned at the farm's creation.

You find mobs in the mines, usually. There are a few more spots, but if you've just started a new game you will only have access to the mines. If you refer to the animals, you need a coop from Robin. If you refer to mods, nexusmods is where you find most active and up to date mods.

Why do you keep mentioning that it doesn't show up in Robin's list of buildings? The list has nothing to do with being able to move things. You just click the button, go into farm view mode, then move whatever movable building you want.
It's not as if you need to select the building in the list to move it. You just click the button regardless on what you have selected, and move buildings.
And again, the cabins don't show up in Robin's list, as 3 is the max and you can't build more.
In short: You don't have to select the building in the list to be able to move it.

Apologies, however to clarify it didn't matter -what- building I selected to try and build or button i clicked to move pre-existing ones, choosing the cabins wasn't possible until after one was destroyed.

Any Linux players struggling with unstable framerate? Mine fluctuates between 61 and 43, have the most recent drivers and the game makes use of every single core, as well as has a lot of memory to use (uses only 3 out of 16GB of RAM), it's not really unplayable, but really, really annoying

It can be either, but it's still single cored 😛 Realistically 64 bit is only useful for many mods
From the looks of it people had frame troubles on the 64bit but the 32bit worked well

Yup, sounds like it could be it, since my mod folder on Windows had more mods that were actually obsolete, so it had to load them just for the fact of loading them

if you scroll up a little you might catch some of what i'm saying, but in principle i believe that creating a virtual windows operating system should allow you to play steam through windows rather than mac, and that should hopefully allow multiplayer

For those who are trying to get Mac multiplayer working, there is an option that works for some people, which is by running a command in your terminal to start up the game. The command is LC_CTYPE="C" followed by the file path, which for normal steam users would look something like:

It seems that developer is aware of this problem and is working hard with GOG GALAXY team in order to fix it.
However, I have no ETA for the potential fix release at the moment.
As for Mac version of the game, please try this suggestion:
Go to the game installation folder (in case of the Steam version: Steam/steamapps/common/Stardew Valley/Contents/MacOS/) though the terminal and manually launch the game with the locale set to the minimal one: LC_CTYPE="C" ./StardewValley.

can I anyone help me with a performance issue?
I have an RTX 2060 and i5 9300h so I shouldn't be getting low framerate with those specs but I occasionally get very short fps drops from 61 to 30 but sometimes my game just completely freezes for 1-5 seconds and it's very annoying
The game was working fine Yesterday
I tried validating steam files, disabling fullscreen optimizations and using windowed borderless mode
the 61 to ~30 fps drops only happen for the first like 2 minutes of opening a world but then it fixes itself but every 30 minutes or so my game freezes
the 61 to ~30 fps drops are only for a few milliseconds

switching hosts isn't reeeeally possible. there's a save editing hack that kinda works, but softlocks certain parts of the game. otherwise, the easiest way to sorta-switch hosts is to send the new host the save file and have them just go to the wizard's house and change your character name to theirs

Well to open Terminal you just have to hit command+space and start typing in the name, then hit enter. I'm not sure if there's anything else to it besides typing that command in, I haven't tried yet

if for whatever reason your game isn't installed to that path you can type in "cd" and look for the MacOS folder and drag and drop it into the terminal and continue with the process

I got sdv on my computer a couple days ago, and promptly purchased the mobile version. I noticed that there's no way to cloud save and so I followed a reddit post to sync my save folders from my computer to my phone. I then realized that my computer save file is version 1.5.4 while the mobile version is 1.4.5
are there any workarounds for this? I'd love to be able to play my main save on the go, but I guess it's not specifically necessary. it'd just save me a lot of pain trying to use steam link, etc.

Putting a 1.5 save on 1.4 is not good. It may lead to corruption, your world may break, ect
Even if you haven't done any of the 1.5 stuff all of it is still there already in that save

I have an RTX 2060 and i5 9300h so I shouldn't be getting low framerate with those specs but I occasionally get very short fps drops from 61 to 30 but sometimes my game just completely freezes for 1-5 seconds and it's very annoying

I tried validating steam files, disabling fullscreen optimizations and using windowed borderless mode
the 61 to ~30 fps drops only happen for the first like 2 minutes of opening a world but then it fixes itself but every 30 minutes or so my game freezes
the 61 to ~30 fps drops are only for a few milliseconds

Stardew is single cored so if that core it's using is all being fought over this usually happens

If it's a multiplayer save, you can really only play your character when someone else hosts that farm. Them sending you the save is just going to let you play as their farmer, as you mention

Cabins are built as soon as you purchase them, unlike crafting other farm buildings. It's instantaneous. So something clear didn't work for you. I don't know if you need to clear the land before hand.

You can keep it open and they won't mind but during cold/windy, rain and even winter i close them to keep them warm. If not, they won't lay eggs or give me poor quality eggs

@worthy lake I did some testing in other 2D games and Stardew Valley seems to be the only game with this issue
I was monitoring Stardew Valley and was getting fps drops every few seconds and then it went back up again
then I restarted Stardew Valley and it seems alot better now for some reason
what I noticed is that after Restarting Stardew Valley it used 100mb more ram
when I interact with stuff my fps stutters

but still the game looks smooth
but my fps still drops when interacting with something for the first time in a day (real life day)

question so i tried downloading smapi again and it took multiplayer off

Just want to inform anyone with any performance issues on windows to open graphics settings, click browse, locate the stardew valley.exe file and click open. When that is done hover over stardew valley in graphics settings and change it from let windows decide to high performance.
haven't seen anyone use this solution before so I thought I'd tell people about it
this might not work for everyone and might not be a permanent fix but it seems to have worked for me
This might increase fps for some people but I did this to help fix stuttering issues

Well thats lame.... I put my crab pots in the ocean. Than I crafted a chest placed it near them and put my bait in there... then the next day the chest was gone along with all my bate and bug guts..... 😢
