Yeah, the one thing that was finicky was to stop the spreading of misinformation. When you have an issue where MP sometimes doesn't work at complete random, and people try things which then "work", and continue to spread their method of getting up from your chair, running 3 circles around it, and clucking like a chicken to make MP work again... I'm glad I was able to eventually nip that in the butt (mostly).

@compact kraken -- honestly, it's black magic to us too. what it boils down to with multiplayer stuff is that it's like it could be software related, hardware related, maybe even related to your ISP and then maybe even something beyond that. i've personally spent days trying to figure out why sometimes people don't have the invite code option on their screen

From what I've seen, and looked at in the source code. And I'm just a starting developer, so you guys probably know a whole lot more about this, is that it just ...fails (presumably on steam's side), and then never tries again. Personally I think simply creating some kind of "try again" system would fix 99% of the issues.
Mostly because that's literally what people are doing, restarting their game to try again.
I'm guessing the biggest issue with solving this is actually reproducing the problem. ...or at least, that's what I had issues with when I was trying to figure out why it was happening. x)

yeah, that's what was toughest for us. we actually put in a lot of code to try to log what was going on and ended up nowhere. i don't think it's just a "we failed to log into steam, try again" issue for what it's worth

yeah, it is, but it's also tricky because of time differences if you can believe it. the third parties and i have been working extremely hard at trying to resolve this issue but it's at minimum, like, a day's delay between responses because of time zones, hahah

I'll be honest, I think people just assume that sometimes things are really easy to fix, and it's nice to have a small explanation (which obviously you can't do for every little issue) but especially in this case the mac players can now know they are not being just abandoned but it may take some time (and hopefully this will fix the mp being finnicky on windows as well)

I always presumed that matchmaking (with friend codes) was through some of your own server (apparently a gog server), and that directly joining through steam just used their integrated friend system and their usual NATpunching.

right, so the invite code is actually just a hash of the lobby name on GOG i think, but from what i can recall, the steam lobby is created on steam and is dealt with on steam exclusively

Though in retrospect, one could not join through steam when either the host or the client didn't have MP capabilities, something already seen as client in the main menu when hitting the MP button and only being able to join a local IP, and seen as host when ingame and not being able to produce a friend code.
So maybe it doesn't use steam's thing?

(also keep in mind the reason i'm not 100% on all of this is because i didn't put together the original netcode or matchmaking logic -- i joined the team with 1.4)

yes i did this but it didn't work , first i changed the preferences settings but didn't work. The i deleted it and it didn't work , then i tried the compatibility settings from windows and it didn't work. I managed to get in when i put 4k resolution but it was really laggy , and our controllers were really laggy. You couldn't fish at all.

It's possible that you "met" someone through their shop or some event, but still never talked to them.
In my experience this is either Pierre, Gus or the Wizard.

People with the lowest relationships will be at the bottom of your list, so definitely the person who you haven't properly talked to, but also people you haven't talked to much and haven't talked to you in a while, so I'd work on whoever's currently at the bottom until you get it.

yeah it's 2 pm not 2 am, you got there too late. most festivals take place in the morning and early afternoon, there are only a couple that are at night (moonlight jellies and spirit's eve) and iirc those both start at 10 pm

Hello, I recently got Stardew Valley on Windows 10 and, nearly every time the clock switchs (like, 7:30 to 7:40), the game freezes for a little bit, like half a second, its not much but its kind of annoying. I've never played Stardew Valley before but I was wondering if anyone knows of a fix.

i think your best bet is to go on the wiki, they mention every spot/action that gives you walnuts, just keep eliminating the ones youve gotten til you find which ones are left
iirc correctly you get 5 from fishing, 5 from the volcano, and 5 from farming
so check if you havent gotten a couple from these actions

Hi, my windows just updated and stardew started running really poorly, I looked into ways of making the game run smoother and i think i solved that issue in all honesty but however I'm now having a larger issues that makes it impossible to play the game and I was hoping that someone would be able to help out
It's a bit hard to describe what has happened, but when I open stardew my screen zooms in really close and then when stardew launches my mouse won't leave the top left corner. I found one video that had showed only the top left corner loading and I figured that was probably the same issue just looking different. however I noticed as they walked me through the steps that my game file looks very very different from what they were showing.
I don't know how much the difference in file layout is causing but it's making it very difficult to fix anything

Is there a way to move pre-built multiplayer cabins? Me and a friend aren't seeing an option for it, nor are the cabins showing up in the build-able building list at Robin's.
Other buildings show up in robin's list when you go to build a new building right? The cabin's don't show up in the list.
To move buildings you have to go to a building like you're going to build it in the list, and chose the move option.

i have a friend that was playing singleplayer and then she wanted to play with someone else. she requested the cabin at robin's house and when she hosted multiplayer she lost all of her progress

I've done some more research and still have yet to find a way to move cabins that are all added with the creation of the farm. Any ideas, cause I'm so lost. The cabin option doesn't even show up as one of the buildings in Robin's list, so the option to move them that way isn't there.

I'll keep that in mind. Just looked it up, apparently going to have a lot to do before I get to that point. From what I understand I need to finish all the community center before the first quest is accessable.

As someone who's a client to multiplayer game atm, are you sure you can't move it? I've moved my own cabin several times. It might be that the owner of the cabin has to.
Additionally, you mention a building list, which implies you're in the correct menu, but if there's already 3 cabins, no new cabins should show up. To move buildings you simply click the button with the 4 arrows (I believe the leftmost of the 3? buttons) at the bottom of the build menu and then just select and move the correct building.
This button is also available when you're able to construct buildings at the Wizard (after entering the cave at the train station).
Oh and as additional info, my cabin existed since the start of the game.
