Was something changed on the Nintendo switch for professor snale and the snake vertebrae drop rate. My original game i got it just fine... on this game play through I’m 1 year checking daily for artifact spots on the farm in ginger island and I’m only ever seen 2 artifact spots and neither dropped it. My question is, is there a patch or known bug? If not how do I get that information to the devs. Something seems very wrong

To be fair the only situation I've used two controllers is specifically p1 being a steam controller (which probably counts itself as a mouse and keyboard) and then a switch pro controller for 2nd person

You might get away with using two steam controllers if you take the second one and fully bind it as a full normal controller say xbox

That's mine at least, the f1, and back buttons are for mods so you can completely ignore them (unless you also use lookup everything)

I'm afraid that you'll have to buy 2 copies. Not entirely sure if they get types of commissions for sales, but there's companies who made the games working on other platforms who also deserve to be paid for their work.

Technically you can just throw it on the floor, end the day, restart the game and it'll be gone. But you could instead just put it down, pick it back up, and see if you can trash it then.

Respectfully, I've noticed multiple times now that people are having difficulty with rare drops, and I've seen people who reported these things get said drops even after 2 years of playing. So if I can keep people from bothering the dev with ideas they obtained through personal bias, I will keep doing that.
And even if I'm wrong, this has already been reported on the forums, just like the mummified bat.
Maybe do some research first instead of being rude to someone who freely volunteers their time to try and help people and even the dev, kay? Thanks.

I explained that the droprate is already extremely low, and was insinuating that a lot of the reports are likely false due to said low droprate. It took me 2 whole years to get the snake vertebrae. On the PC, of which I can read the source code.

Sometimes it does work though and when it does-- I cannot enter a pasted code. I have to type it out all myself. When I type it out-- it says connecting for a bit but then it fails. I'm fairly sure tools don't have ownership (they simply get returned to lost & found when not found on people or chests), and even if you made a backup save of each day it'd be hard to figure out who did it. I'm afraid there's nothing to prove that claim.

Hi! I just started playing about a week or and ran into a problem - I've read through the troubleshooting section of the wiki but I'm still encountering it. I wanted to transfer a save file from macOS to iPad. Both game versions are up to date, but when I moved the save file as instructed, I end up with a "version mismatch" (See screenshot attached!). I have not used mods at all. Thanks a bunch in advance, and hope I didn't overlook something that just existed the wiki (if so please point me in the right direction).

hmm the horse is not mine so when my friend arrives there is already another horse outside, there are 2 horses that should be in the game outside but now a cloned horse outside a house inside and outside a house

If you could somehow ride the horse outside that would possibly help things. You're also using mods, so possibly there's a smapi command that'll teleport you to another map? Can try that while on the horse. Maybe once it's outside it'll reset properly.

I'm afraid that issues like these could have a ridiculous wide array of possible causes, making finding a solution for it already hard. On top of that Linux isn't the best supported platform for gaming, making it even more impossible to find anyone to fix it.
The best advice I can give is to find a Linux orientated gaming community (forum, discord, irc, etc) and asking there. The chances of someone being in this discord who is a Linux gamer, and knows how to solve the issue is... well, I think you'll have a bigger chance of winning the lottery. x)

Most of the time screen tearing seems to be GPU-related or CPU-related. Usually a good thermal paste replacement should fix that. But if that is only happening during certain games than it could be other things instead.

Heh, no. By default connecting 2 keyboards and 2 mice to a computer means they'll control the exact same thing. Generally you can only split screen with one person using a keyboard and the other using a controller (or sometimes 2 controllers), but I'm sure there's third party software out there that'll allow you to do this still by rebinding keys. That way you could both play on 1 keyboard.

alright i made a bit of a bad decision and have now changed my locations.xnb file, now places like the summit boulder, and cinema posters have dialogue like Strings\Locations:SummitBoulder and i think the way to fix it is by getting the original file back? a lot of ginger island is unavailable also.

If this issue hasn't fixed itself yet, the things to keep in mind when trying to play with others online on switch is:
A Nintendo Online subscription (for everyone).
A fairly stable wifi connection.
A free cabin (consider destroying and rebuilding a cabin just in case).
Starting the game in Co-op mode.
Not also being in splitscreen co-op mode. You can not go splitscreen and online at the same time.
If you're 100% certain these things aren't the issue, I'd suggest contacting official support.

You can only view the bundles through inventory, you have to deliver them in person at the community center if you want to complete them. Also more of a #stardew-valley question.

Anyone encountered a multiplayer bug where someone is unable to open chests after sleeping in a bed that isn't theirs? (problem was fixed by restarting the game, just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and found a fix that doesn't involve restarting 😅 )

# torn storm It was just the one friend who encountered the problem, and yes, both on wifi.

Next time it happens, I'd suggest telling your friend to stand in front of the chest, click it once, don't walk away, then see how long it takes before it opens, and try a few chests; especially ones that haven't been touched by others.
I'm thinking there's either a lot of lag going on, which would mean it could take a very long time before the server responds with stuff like chest content.
Or there's enough packet loss which means that when someone opens a chest it gets sent to them, but it missed the package that told them the chest closed again, not allowing them to open it as they think it's already open.
And even then it could be that you managed to discover a really strange bug. (Which wouldn't be a surprise either)

They do not stack. In fact, it's best to diversify, as all the value-increasing professions work no matter who ships the items. Like having 1 person with Rancher and another with Tiller.
I recall this only works when the player with said skill is active on the farm, so keep that in mind.
Skills like Agriculturist; where crops grow 10% quicker, only works when the person with the skill plants the crops.

My friend and I had a new issue in multiplayer tonight (I am using mods so it may be that but wanted to start here since its not related to the modded content). Anytime the friend goes into the community center the game starts to go whack. Skipping frames and weird stuff like that. They also can't interact with any of the community center bundles.

I can promise you you both have firewalls, but generally they should simply behave. Also knowing it worked before could indicate a different thing, but as per usual with network issues the possibilities of how it's going wrong are endless.

From what I can see, in the first image you're hitting the rock with a pickaxe, and you're getting the message that your pickaxe isn't strong enough.
In the second picture you're using an axe, and somehow missed the tree and hit the rock again (I'm not sure how touch controls work), which gave a different message, implying you should use the pickaxe on the stone instead and not the axe.
If you did indeed miss the tree somehow, it would explain everything.

In my experience, when 2 people activate it at the same time it'll remain activated forever. Only fix I know of is a save file edit, which is not possible on the switch.

hey yolo 🧍 i found a glitch where you can duplicate the small glow ring infinitely, it doesnt just delete itself after trying to use it or something, the duplicates work normally, basically: the qi's collection quest for like 100 items of each color, i tried to put the small glow ring, and acidentally clicked it twice, i saw even though i have one in my inventory it kept adding and adding them, when i tried to bring them back in my inventory, it duplicated them even there! i dont know if this works with other rings as i only tried on the small glow ring and i uh filled the collection box-

It could be that multiple people getting to the floor itself (and completed the challenge) triggered the bug, or even when multiple people were online at the time of accepting the quest. The problem is that there's currently 2 (or more) entries in your save file that says that the mines are in hardmode, while interacting with the shrine will only adjust 1 of those values.
I am genuinely unsure if there's any kind of fix for it. You could try messing around with it a bunch with your friends, without your friends, and hope that it'll somehow fix itself at some point. Without save editing as an option that's the best I can think of. :C

Can someone help me?
I can't launch sv, i'm playing it in pc on steam. I have been playing it for months and it usually is fine until today. Whenever i run it, it opens for a few 5-10 seconds, shows a white screen and closes on its own

I mean, smapi was mostly only meant as troubleshooting step, but if it works, yay. You can change the steam launch options to start smapi as if you'd launch SDV normally.

The installer itself tells you how to do this upon completing installation. Easiest way would be to just install smapi again, this does no harm.

[This is not a mod issue... I mean well I don't think it is.]

Basically when I first got SDV everything was great. No lag or anything. I was showing it to my friend just fine. Playing it just fine too. I downloaded up to 50 or so mods, game still working great for the first hour. I received no red notifications from SMAPI the whole time. Every 3 mods I would run through SMAPI to make sure they worked, so I was closing my application A LOT. Then suddenly my game started to give me some serious lag, to the point where it was just seriously unplayable. I assumed it was SMAPI or the mods so I uninstalled and reinstalled it about 2 times. Still receiving lag. So I deleted all the mods and ran it with JUST SMAPI (nothing else), there was still lag.

So at this point I thought it was SMAPI lagging my game, but after I uninstalled SMAPI from SDV I was still receiving lag. I restarted my computer 2 times. Still experiencing lag. I uninstalled SDV twice from steam, downloaded it back and I was still receiving lag. The thing is when I load into the game, I load in just fine... but then 30 seconds pass by and my frames start to deteriorate. And If I do say so myself my pc is pretty beefy, so at this point idk what it is...

I don't really know what to do now...

So, to get a few things straight. You're experiencing FPS lag. Does this consistently happen, worse during some times? And how much are we talking, down to 10fps, or just below 30fps? There's people who come by here when they get below 60fps.
Considering you've done everything with the game, the issue likely lies in your PC elsewhere, so... Have you tried messing with V-sync? Installed the latest drivers? Monitored resource monitor to see if it's occupying a single core? Done windows update?

that's an issue with XNA, the framework SDV uses. it needs a working audio device in order to work

It's simple! Top left of steam click on "steam" > settings > controller > general controller settings

And then another window will pop up and you can click the controller supports (I just do them all in case friends ever come over with other controllers that way it's no fuss no hassle later)

Well, you can still use smapi and play vanilla, as smapi alone doesn't technically change anything, but in this case we'll be using it for logging to see if there's something wrong with the dll's it's trying to load.

Okay, that coincides with the console not even staying around, meaning somehting about the .net installation is kaput. How to fix it however...

Well, it technically shouldn't take long at all. If it takes long, it means there's an issue.
Another thing to check is if the file exists in the location of what is shown in the error message. In this case C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\

I may have found a bug aswell in multiplayer
it was year 2 day 28 winter ending and there wasn't the grandpa cutscene but the evaluation was complete
in addition at 1am on 1st spring year 3, the cutscene initiated and once it finished me and my friend were both passed out as it was 2am
