question, my power went out while i was playing and now my save is not showing up. I have the files in my save game folder but the beach_<numbers> file is obviously corrupted. there are 2 files with the same name that have _old at the end. those look to be in tact so are those the save from the previous day that i can just load up and start from or are those something else

Yes. In the end, I am playing in windowed mode at the highest resolution possible that does not give me a problem. Occasionally zooming in and out when the issue occurs seems to solve it for a little while

Vsync on and off did nothing for me 😦 Playing in native resolution did nothing 😦 but...I'm gaming on a mac, so I can only blame myself

Gaming on macs isn't "best" much more because lots of games don't support macs and Macs don't match performance per cost of desktop PCs. If you were unable to get a game to run at all... maybe that would be because it's a Mac (of maybe not). But I don't think it's a good mindset to excuse away game issues just because of your platform

According to the wiki they only give 5, so you would't notice it unless you killed what 20? wilderness golems and however many slimes

The other thing that has been screwing my run up quite a bit (the reason I'm farming bats ad nauseum) is that it appears no monsters or 'free' staircase can spawn on level one of the mines, so with no pickaxe, you /need/ a bomb to progress. I think that's working as intended, though.

It's supposed to teach you to use the pickaxe. ;p

Tbh, this is a case where installing smapi and ui info suite could come in handy and save you time, since it would pop up x xp gained when you killed a monster

So if it doesn't pop up when you kill a monster on the farm before you've seen that cutscene where you see marlon that might prove it to be currently impossible (or possible if it does)

@devout bronze I've done some testing, and it honestly may be bugged, I tried killing monsters on farm day one with random tools, doesn't work, got rusty sword, doesn't work, changed the date to day 5, went to mines got cutscene, still no xp, went down to level 5 in the mines, still no xp. got level 1 combat, still don't give xp. So either it's trigged by not one of these things or they are bugged and don't give xp

I'm having heaps of trouble getting cabins upgraded in my game. In my regular multiplayer that I host, my friends have no trouble getting their cabins upgraded. But in my singleplayer that I'm getting a friend to help upgrade my cabins, I think it is permanently broken. Are we supposed to see Robin upgrading the cabin while it is happening? I don't want to waste another couple of days if it's already broken. Edit: no mods

I can't say I'm finding much on the topic, other than mod problems. And I myself have tempted fate by starting 2 upgrades at the game time from Robin, one of which also being a house upgrade, and everything worked.

Well, the thing is, I believe the player needs to be online for 3 days for the house to actually upgrade. Starting the upgrade and leaving means it will never finish, I don't think.

Hi everyone! I recently downloaded Stardew Valley on my Macbook Pro because I wanted to use mods, but I got used to playing it on my switch so I’m trying to use an Xbox controller to make it more enjoyable. However, I can’t get my controller to work with the game. It shows that it’s connected via Steam, but when I open the game it doesn’t work. I’m currently running macOS Mojave version 10.14.4

Things I’ve tried to far

• Uninstalling SMAPI (tried both ways, neither worked)
• Enabling Steam Input in Stardew Valley Controller Properties
• Changing in-game gamepad mode to force off (tried with this and auto detect, neither worked)
• Opening the SMAPI version of the game in TextEdit and changing open -a Terminal./StardewModdingAPI.bin.osx $@ to ./StardewModdingApi.bin.osx $@ 2>&1 > /dev/null

I haven’t tried running SMAPI through Steam because I haven’t figured out a way to do that on mac.

Preferably, I want to run the game with mods while also being able to use a controller. If anyone has advice (that isn’t “don’t use a controller”) I would really, really appreciate it.

In a earlier version I had the same issue, but tried some tutorials that used a thing called Swift Shader and it worked

Because sometimes games have issues and glitches, especially when made for one system then needing to be ported to many others. Compound that with a small team of like 2 people, not a giant company and sometimes things slip through. I get it's a little frustrating, but try to cut them some slack.

Hello, me and my gf have been playing co-op for the past few days and we've had a prismatic shard spawn in our house 2 times now out of no where. Is this a glitch? We're playing on a vanilla version on the switch so no mods can be the problem.

Soo are there logs for the game that I can look at as far as mutiplayer troubleshooting? Tried for several hours with someone a few days ago and the closest we got was with Hamachi and telling the game to connect to the hosting players Hamachi IP, hosting player would see the message a player connected and then connecting player would see "the server closed the connection" any help or direction would be helpful. I've been over all the guides I can find, including the one from the developers on mutiplayer troubleshooting. Nothing has worked.

Hamachi won't work

The game relies on steam/gog servers or for you to actually be on the same network. People have tried recently many times with hamachi and it doesn't work

So it's looking for some kind of authentication from steam...or that steam is more or less acting as the middle man for the connection. I followed the wiki all the way down the list. I've never seen a games multiplayer act like this. If I use steam, everything's there like it should be and you can click join player from friends list and all that. Just refuses to connect with a general "connection failed". Why I was wondering if there were logs or if I could force a debug mode to log all and then test? See where the connection is failing?

Update: Switch patch for the blue floor bug and zoom/tile offset issue is in the approval process, and will be out as soon as possible. There will also be another round of patches on all consoles for a few other bugs, including the shaking stones and the mummified bat issue

from what you've said, i'm assuming you have some kind of 3rd party usb controller? in that case you need to go into big picture mode > settings > controller settings and make sure generic controller support is checked

I'm pretty sure my windows machine is misidentifying the device tbh bc I don't think it used to identify it as an xbox 360 controller and it was also identifying my 8BitDo device as an xbox controller.

Try following this guide and basically take stardew off core 0. Also repairing xna isn't something to worry about. It's rather safe to do

Trying to get a co-op session going with a couple friends, the host (a first-timer) is having some frame rate issues. He seems to notice that whenever his frame drops to 1-5 FPS, his GPU suddenly went from between 20-40% to 2%. Does anyone have an idea of some fixes we can try out?

PC is also different than consoles so it takes extra work for consoles, and some approval times take far longer like nintendos that can take weeks

Ok so while I was playing Stardew Valley, a voice literally started talking. I’m certain it was coming from the GeForce now web app, as I closed all other tabs and the audio player said “Stardew Valley - GeForce Now” I’ve attached an audio file of the recording. If this is just me being stupid or something, please forgive me. If you hear menu noises in the background, it was me trying to adjust the audio settings but the voice stopped before I could adjust anything. I’ve googled what the voice had said with no luck. @ZonPagorn If you mean the problem where it never shows an option for "enter invite code", etc.... It's not a bug within Stardew, but rather an issue with the GOG authentication servers (which I don't control), however I've reached out to them, & they say it may be fixed already

I’m playing on switch and while I was playing the update game window kept popping up but I didn’t want my progress to be erased so I just pressed ‘launch game’ and then I went to bed so I can save the game and leave, but the update window isn’t popping up anymore.

As far as I know, any updates will be immediately installed when the game isn't running. So it might've been downloading in the background, and immediately installed it after you quit the game. Do let us know if the island's fixed and the update went through though.

The latency doesn't matter too much, packet loss does matter. I'm not sure if you're familiar with measuring that? I'd suggest testing that next time you're having issues. I don't think SDV is very ...resistant against that.

Yeah, that's a sign of not being connected, there's no real way of knowing if that's on your or their end.

Plenty ways though, unsure what the best one is. Could ask your friend if they're on wifi, Could both do packet loss tests, see if either of you have any issues playing other online games..

As far as I'm aware, on the pc it works in the way that you hover over an item and it'll make the CC icon pulse. It does not happen when you merely have an item in your inventory.

It might be different on mobile, but I personally doubt it.
