Hello, my friends are having trouble connecting to my farm. We played together before, then all of a sudden, for some reason they can not connect to my game. It just says 'connecting' and then after awhile it says 'connection failed'. I don't have any trouble connecting to their farms, so if anyone could help that'd be great. Thanks!

I'm on PC, and whenever i go to invite someone or join someone, the invite code option doesn't always show up. When hosting, there's no button to get an invite code, and when joining someone there's no place to insert the invite code. Does anyone know how to fix this?

And if that doesn't work, have you tried editing the config to start it in windowed mode?

Go to %AppData%\Roaming\StardewValley, then remove the file.
As for changing the config, it's also in the same file (it'll come back after you start the game), open it up in a text editor, search for <fullscreen> and change the value behind it from true to false.

Not sure if this is console, but mess around with the zoom level (ui and game), it might be that they need to be the same.

can you try removing the _old part from those two files that have it? move the other two out of that folder for now

so step one is to move Name_Numbers and SaveGameInfo somewhere else, step two is to rename Name_Numbers_Old to Name_Numbers and SaveGameInfo_old to SaveGameInfo. then try to load the save again

Will do. It's very strange. Usually with cutscenes in MP, we get them individually. And you can comically see the other person walking around in them

Every now and then in MP people are forced to watch cutscenes together, or from the first player's perspective.

We got one in the Treehouse, and it stopped my friend's game, then when I finished the cutscene, I watched it from THEIR perspective, and then it spawned me stuck in an item in the floor

sometimes my pigs will dig up truffles in a way that blocks off the rows in between the crafting machines, and that'll confuse animals

I'm playing with mods that are created in english, so I prefer to use english version of the game, but my native language is russian. The problems start on the multiplayer, where chatbox just don't supports cyrillic symbols if the game language set to english, not russian. Oh, nvm guys, i found the solution. The problem is with the fonts, english font just not supporting russian characters, so i renamed SmallFont.ru-RU.xnb to SmallFont.xnb and it worked :^)
Now i'll look for more convinient soluition, but it will be much easier

Mostly a #archived-modded-support thing. But I can tell you that Smapi itself has an internal database that checks if (registered) mods have become redundant. Just boot up the game, check the console window.
I personally suggest just deleting all mods and starting from scratch redownloading all of them and checking their compatibility.

Just make sure to screenshot your mods folder to check which ones you used to have so you can look those up.

if you open up a command prompt (Start button, type cmd, hit enter) you just type that command in there. It's a command that'll make windows check for any corrupted files necessary to run windows, and automatically repairs/replaces said files with correct ones.

So I've been having a long running issue of my game not running. I have gone through all the basic troubleshoots, including because I will be asked...
Restart your computer.
Make sure you have speakers or headphones plugged in. (They can be muted, but the game needs a working audio device.)
If you play on Windows:
Install (or reinstall) .NET Framework 4.5.2 and XNA Framework 4.0
Reinstalled and repaired C++.

I have SMAPI installed, it cannot boot through that either. I try to find the crash logs, but when I do the search through the run prompt with "%appdata%\StardewValley\ErrorLogs" I get a prompt saying that the Error Logs cannot be found.

The best thing is to turn your Steam to offline then back to online again, until it shows up. Someone also mentioned that if you wait until the co-op notification shows up in steams overlay, it seems to work more often

@soul__adrift try exiting the game, going offline on steam, going back online, and starting the game again. doing this a few times can sometimes get it to work. I'm not sure why it's happening but it's probably issues with the underlying matchmaking servers through GOG/Steam

He could fairly easily implement something that could refresh/recheck a steam connection, as opposed to the player being forced to restart the game again and again.

For matchmaking, yeah. It's how you can join friends through right clicking them on steam, and also how the codes work.

Additionally, I can only presume that this check is done once, with perhaps a specific timeout, but if the request is sent only once and it gets blocked somehow, it'd mean that there's a very short timeframe at which it might or might not work, making restarting SV probably probably more than 1000 times slower than a possible fix.

Hamachi shouldn't work with that. You would still need the invite code. That option is looking for your internal ip, which is only used when communicating with computer in your house.

The host game crashes. Version 1.55 on PS4. yes new farms work fine.

Given that you're not super far into the game, I would try removing their house and placing it again. I'm not sure if you have the ability to back up your save in case this doesn't work though.

It does mean they have to start from scratch, so it's not a good solution. :/

In short, if your friend can join a new save, but they can't join an existing save, there's clearly something that went wrong with the save. What it might be, I'm not sure.

And yeah. Cabin removes progress from that character. So they lose their skills and their catalog, their relationships, but you would keep the items I'd guess.

If you really want to play I'd suggest doing that, but definitely also contact official support.

The game has been running really weirdly since the december update. It's the first time I'm playing it since then. The game stutters during play and it takes much longer than it should on startup. Sometimes it gives the "not loading" screen where everything kinda whites out. I'm trying to verify the game files now, but it's not loading. Should I just uninstall and reinstall?

Have you verified the file? In Steam - right click on your game and select properties - Local Files - Verify integrity of game files. It may take a few minutes. It worked for an issue i had on my game a couple of months ago.

Worst case scenario; save your backup files in another folder, uninstall and reinstall the game. There's also a link above where you can check to see if its a game bug.

I did, all the files were verified, but it took like 30 minutes to do so. I ended up just uninstalling and reinstalling and that worked.

Hi, I read the 1.5 changelog and found this

You can now use the "Y" key to answer dialogue boxes for holes and exit ladders in the mines.

How exactly can I do this? "Y" only allows me to choose from a range of emotes, and none of them looks like a hole/ladder.
It's no difference when I go down the mines as well.

Did you have smapi, or have you tried installing smapi and see what error you're given before the game shuts down? Nvm, looked further up and saw the link.

In fact, you seem to be having a similar issue as someone else I tried to help the other day. The short of it became that you'd have to repair your windows installation with a windows install image. Why? Somehow both your current XNA install and Window's backup of XNA are corrupted and need to be replaced. Oh and any XNA reinstall won't work because it refuses to overwrite said corrupted file.
Let me know if that sounds familiar to you, or if you'd like help with that.

Hello guys, I play coop and everytime the host opens up the farm me and my friend have a really hard time to see the farm to enter the game. The host have to restart switch, sometimes restart even the internet for us be able to see the farm. Does anyone have the same problem? Is it normal? Tysm

It's a known problem, the only thing you can really do is keep restarting.

Best I can do for you is check which programs are running in the background (check the startup tab in task manager) and disable the ones you don't use (be sure that they're not essential to your system). And restart your laptop before beginning SDV.

Oh and possibly check for new windows updates, because it might be trying to install them in the background.

Having said that, probably not what you want. Go to your save (be sure to back it up as well), open it up in a text editor, search for the text skullCavesDifficulty and presuming that inside the tag there's a 1, change it to 0.

If it's already a 0 ...then I'd have to think of something else.

I recently updated my mods and now the game crashes when I go to bed.
Narrowed the problem to PyTK ver 1.21.0 since the game saves when reverting it back to ver 1.19.6
Reverting back, Stardew Valley Expanded mod does not load and my farmhand's game crashes.
There is a compatibility error when trying to revert everything back
