Well I think ||there's a limit on those repeatable ones, so if you've gotten like 5 or something by fishing, then you won't get any more||

most common fixes are making sure to launch through steam and changing steam name (long names, underscores, anything that steam thinks is a bad word can cause issues connecting)

steam sometimes blocks people from connecting in multiplayer if it thinks your name is inappropriate or too long. it doesn't like underscores, special characters, long names, or anything that can be flagged as part of a bad word or swear word in english

i think it may not like spaces in names, either--so if your steam name is the same as your nickname here, you could try changing it to something like CommCharlie to make it shorter and have no spaces

hi guys! I've played plenty of hours in the past with my PS4 controller, no problem. currently I'm staying with my sister and tried plugging her PS4 controller into my macbook. the macbook and steam both recognize the controller and it works on steam when i opened the general controller preferences. I even just now, after some fiddling, got the "gamepad mode activated" message to appear on the game (it didn't pop up at first, but now is seemingly recognizing it), yet the controller still isn't actually working with the game. any idea what the problem might be?

Hi everyone! I am hoping someone might have had a similar issue and can help me out here. Using steam I cannot get the game to launch. Here is what I have tried so far:

Rebooting (after most changes as well)
Updating DirectX (12)
Installing oalinst.exe
Checking C++ (was up to date)
Running xnafx40_redist setup
Deleting the preferences file in the %appdata%
Deleting all stardew folders and re-installing
Removing both and then testing both versions of .Net
Changing audio devices
Plugging in headphones
Validating the exception in Windows Defender

Resetting windows but maintain files
Resetting windows without files
Repeating all of the above 1-11
Turned off Steam overlay
Verified integrity of game files
Added permissions to the 4.0 folder

Hey! I have had Stardew Valley for about 6 months now and my multiplayer (Co-op) option has never worked. I play on a PC, and just updated to the most recent version. When I click on co-op the only option I have is LAN, and that doesn't even work. I have both tried to host games, and join games with that and it will not let me do either.

I have tried all the easy fixes, like making sure I'm logged into steam while on the game, as well as going through all my firewall connection settings. Not only that but I have also logged into steam on other peoples PCs (that have stardew valley with no co-op issues) and the issue still continues so I know it is not my computer. I asked the Stardew Valley Reddit page and no one had different ideas of how to fix this bug. Any help would be great!

try changing your steam name first, that's come up a lot today. steam and SDV get very finicky--anything like emotes, special characters, underscores, long names or anything steam could flag as "inappropriate" are all possible culprits

not so much about the game but the stardew wiki is opening in mobile/small screen mode on my PC... it's super annoying. I'm not zoomed in at all and some pages open in pc mode. I can change it back by going to the URL and typing "www." after the https://, but why would it do this randomly after me using the site for weeks with no trouble?

also no I use smapi and content patcher. I had a lot of problems with overwriting files even for portraits so I only use mods that use content patcher now

I found a bug today after I updated all my mods. I went to the Stardrop Saloon to buy some dinner. Gus's menu opened up, but after I scrolled down it closed without warning. Having a bit of an issue with my games save files, I am using the GOG version of the game, when ever i create a new game, i play it for a few hours then shut the game down, go back and the save has gone, it seems to be an issue with GOG cloud saves, any idea how I can prevent GOG from doing cloud saves?

i was playing around with the settings and my dumb self thought it'd be funny if i set the UI to max scale. my monitor isn't that big, so after i did that my UI became completely unusable, i can't even hit the options button to try to change it because it's bigger than it fits in my monitor. does anybody know where i could access the configs from a file to change it manually from there, by chance?

aight, just so everyone knows tho, when you're on the island in very specific instances when you gift another player on the island (next to the cabin in my instance) the game may take your walnuts as an upgrade when you talk to another player instead of giving the gifting dialogue, even if that upgrade has already been done

not really, no. you can theoretically edit the save file, but it's pretty complex to do

however, you can get 4 hearts with the wizard, go to his basement, and change your name and appearance to yourself instead of his name and character

hey everyone! if anyone else has encountered the same issue on iOS, i wanted to ask about this since my game keeps crashing on startup. I've tried opening the app for the past hour, still nothing. I believe the last thing I did was I saved a backup while the day wasn't finished yet (est. 7:30 pm) then exit to the title screen. Any fixes? i think i have a bug in 1.5? i placed two beehives ||on ginger island to the left of the river across from the farm|| with flowers in front of them and a sprinkler (so the rig is taking up 3x2 tiles) but whenever the honey is ready and i go to add it to my inventory, it just disappears...
EDIT: since flowers grew and i started collecting from the sides, it seems to be ok for now

Yeah, I think it only checks the achievement status when you actually receive a new stardrop. So one option is to install SMAPI temporarily and use it to force the achievement. Otherwise we could try some more involved save edits to let you recollect one of the stardrops

Hello!

There's currently not a way to fix this without delving into the game files, but the good news is that it's not too complicated, you won't lose your progress, and hopefully it'll fix your problem!

One thing you can try to trigger the Steam achievements is to delete your in-game achievements, so that the game checks for them and adds them back. Here are the steps that people found useful:

1.) Make a backup of your save. In your file explorer, type in %appdata%/StardewValley/Saves and you should see folders with your farmer's name and a string of numbers after it. Copy the folders and put them somewhere safe in case something goes wrong.
2.) Open the folder in the game files (not the one you just backed up) and then open the save file in a text editor (such as Notepad)
3.) Ctrl + f for <achievement>, then remove everything between <achievement> and </achievement>
4.) Save the file, then start your game

The game should check again for your achievements and the Steam achievements should unlock now. Some people reported that they needed to get the achievement again, so to get your 'Cliques' achievement, you might have to talk to an NPC or give them a gift for the achievement to register. I hope this helps!

I am encountering a severe lagspiking issue after returning to the game(havent played in a few months).
The game just simply freezes for like half a second(sometimes longer, sometimes shorter), it does this every few seconds when walking around or when trying to do something like fishing
ive tried the following fixes
ive verified integrity of game files
i did the modify and fix XNA framework thing
I uninstalled and reinstalled the game
I uninstalled again and reinstalled it to a different hard drive
error still occures

I hope this is the right place to post, but I had a question about the Stardew Valley Expanded - Immersive Farm mod. There is a custom shed on the immersive farm map that you need to provide resources to repair. I did so in a multiplayer game, and while I see the repaired shed ( I am host), noone else does, they see the initial shed and the bins to collect the resources to repair it. I am wondering if this is a feature to provide private space, or a bug

i noticed this happening when i moved stardew from my laptops ssd to an external hdd, i think it's just the nature of an hdd, especially if you have a slow/old one. having updated to 1.5 it may have just become a bit too much for the hdd to keep up

i have a glitched caroline necklace. i gave it back to her and retained the necklace and then i tried giving it to her daughter and it gave me her dialog as well and i still kept the necklace.

i cant sell or trash the necklace because its a "quest item" but i can remove it from my inventory into a chest. it now says invalid player when trying to use it on any npc.

Is it intended behavior for junimos not to harvest unless you show up at the farm? (Twice I woke up on the island, stayed there and TPed home at 4-5 pm to find the junimos just standing outside the hut with the field untouched. They started working shortly after I arrived.)

so i've been having a problem that everytime i enter my friend's basement i kinda disappear? i mean i'm not anywhere in the map and i can't go back up. this happened 3 times now, in two different houses, both had pale ales aging and each time i had to just wait 'till i pass out so i'd wake up in my bed again.

hey! i'm returning to Stardew Valley after a couple of years so apologies if this is an obvious question but: I want to play on mobile and PC with the same save. I have a pretty good sync system set up, but pc saves aren't compatible with mobile as they're different versions.

Hey guys! Me and my friend are having an issue right now where my save file won't let me host multiplayer. I can host but nobody can join, and all of my other saved farms work. Below are some of the things we have tried to get it working (everything below has been done on both machines)

Restarting
closing steam and re-opening it
opening the game specifically through the steam library
verify game files through steam
other users who don't have the farm saved have re-installed
reinstalling/repairing microsoft C++ plugins
disabling firewalls on both our network and machine to try and let traffic through
disable antivirus

Multiplayer has worked for weeks but for some reason the other day just decided not to work but only on this save file.

Hey so I just join this discord- I can open the game through the Steamapps Program files but i cannot open the game through steam or through the desktop icon shortcut. I don't know what's exactly wrong and I'm not knowledgeable enough to recognize what I need to do to fix it. I have reinstalled both Steam and SDV multiple times, verified local files, repaired library folder, and cleared download catche. I haven't really done anything in the 'advanced troubleshooting ' section of the steam FAQ because I didn't want to screw things up before I can get more information of the issue from a second person. Thank you for your help.

i started a new multiplayer save with a couple friends some days ago, and when we got to day 5 of spring year one, which we were supposed to get the mayor's cutscene and all, it was rainning, and so was spring 6. as of rn we're past the egg festival and still haven't unlocked the community center. is there any way to fix it?

has anyone figured out the single player game controller on mac issue yet? my 8bitdo pro will connect, work in steam, but not in the updated game. have turned force gamepad on and no dice. I haven’t seen that it’s been reported, should I submit it as a bug? Playing on Big Sur 11.1 on a mac, controller can be detected in google chrome and steam and controller updated to latest firmware.

okay, i took a look. your save file is corrupted and doesn't seem to be rescuable, BUT your _old saves are still okay! you'll lose a day of progress, but the saves are still there. replace your save files with these and it will come back!

You may also want to check this list of XNB > Content Patcher conversions (https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Using_XNB_mods#Alternatives_using_Content_Patcher) to see if there are already replacements for any XNB mods you may have been using :)

you can only go back to the previous day, if you're using mods you'll have save backups for days before that

!saves to go back a day, you can find your save file, delete the save and SaveGameInfo, and remove _old from the other two files
