Well I tried everything I could and there's just no way to progress in my Pirate's wife quest, even in plain vanilla and no matter how much I try to work around it by save editing or whatever. The next character in the chain doesn't recognize the quest item even though it's in the log.

Fact my inventory was full when I tried to take the memento clearly broke something and I have no reasonably recent backup to compare my save to, plus the questgiver is gone/invisible. At least if it comes up again my issue might be helpful to someone even though I have no fix.

LMAO. Just as I was giving up messing with flags and triggers... simply going to her on a non rainy day and cheating the final item of the questline works. Even though the npcs in between didnt recognize the quest items at all.

Beats having an incomplete quest forever.

erm hi,when I load up one of my savefile after I delete the all the mod and clear the launch option my stardew just stopped working everytime I load up that save file

Hey @summer basalt , since this is a modding issue #archived-modded-support is the better place to get help :) What I'd start with is just reinstalling SMAPI and loading your save without any mods and see if that fixes it. (SMAPI can clean up lots of stuff in your save that would otherwise crash when you removed the mods.)

Hey so this is a smaller thing but I've been increasingly worried over it
I donated two items, a rusty spur and a skeletal tail, and neither of them... 'counted' in my collection's screen

For context, I dug both up in winter via artifact patches

moving them around in the museum doesn't work, and part of me is worried that, since they're already in there, I wont be able to donate them again to get them counted and finish my collection's screen

Am I like, boned boned or would I get the proc if I just find another one

Hi! I just installed the 1.5 update as I got excited to play again after hearing about it, I tried loading up my save file I made back in 2016 (worked until just recently) but I go to click on it and get sent to the black loading screen and then it just crashes and my whole game shuts down

I was previously playing with mods but got a new computer and I no longer have any of the mods installed including smapi itself I've tried multiple fixes and even checked my files to make sure the save still exists and is there (it is) I would love some help so I can play the new update :)

Hey, since the issue is caused by a modded save and not the base game, #archived-modded-support is where you want to go :) Things left over in your save can definitely crash the game, but SMAPI does a pretty good job of cleaning up now if you let it. I'd reinstall SMAPI (no mods needed) and see if the save loads then, and if it does save the game once before either uninstalling SMAPI again or just continuing that way.

What is "every time" ? Like multiple times in the last hour, or multiple times in the last few days? A major update dropped a few days ago, so there have been hotfixes and not long ago a patch. (And I think more hotfix? I don't really know 😄 )

This is just community help so we're not associated with the devs, but I think that normally patches are a little more spaced apart and combine several things (like today), but for severe things like crashes they may just update as soon as they can fix it. So if it didn't affect you it would seem weird, but people that were, say, crashing when clicking something while playing in another language rejoice that they don't have to wait :)

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but I've reached level 95 of the mine in a new play-through for 1.5, have been through levels 80 - 90 five times now, and have not found any fire quartz. It hasn't appeared in over 100 geodes either. Regular quartz is all over the place in these levels, though, at about the rate I remember fire quartz being. Has the spawn rate changed, or is this a possible bug?

Random question: Has anyone experienced multiplayer at SC where the non-host players enter a prehistoric floor and when they access a ladder down to the next floor, they seem to get a long loading time(were talking at least 5 mins of loading time) while every other floor has a relatively smooth loading time? some kind of memory issue when you modify maps i think, its not about modifying the prehistory floor but the bug happens there

Hi all, been having a problem since the new update. Been updating the mods as they are updated themselves, though some are still on the old versions during the wait. I've been getting a PyTK error about normalize tile sheets and have tried several ways to fix with no results. I feel the same way about the keyboard action inputs being needlessly influenced by mouse position.

If I have to use the mouse to select a position and action, I would use the LC or RC. There's a reason I just used the keyboard input and its definitely divorced from my mouse position

You can try %appdata%/StardewValley and edit the startup preferences file preferred resolution

to be 1360x768

you could also probably delete the file and let it regenerate but it would reset your settings

(would reccomend making a backup of the file)

I've run into a small issue. Not sure if it is a bug or if I'm extremely unlucky. Hello. I opened up the game for the first time in 2 years and installed the update, as well as SMAPI 3.8. However, whenever I try to open the game with SMAPI, I get as far as loading a save, but then the game freezes. I uninstalled and reinstalled the base game, as well as SMAPI. Back when I was playing in the past, I was using some XND mods; is it possible that even after uninstalling/reinstalling, those base files are altered and that's interfering with the game? I'm looking forward to playing again but am not sure how I can do so with mods if this problem persists. 😦 I'm on MacOS. Thank you!

I open from Steam, which usually opens up via SMAPI when I have it installed, but after verifying the files and opening from Steam it seems to open the vanilla game (chicken icon instead of the red SMAPI icon).

Hello! So I finally got stardew on my new tablet. I took my old save from my drive and popped it in and tried to open up the game. It shows the save, but when I try to open it, all it says is "restore previous save?" Something like that. It won't let me get into the game. Is it ok to send a photo of the files that I put in? I think I put in too many, but don't know which ones to delete.

Hello, my friend and I seem to be having some trouble in multiplayer where they will crash randomly when going to random areas like the mountain area. Sometimes it works fine other times they'll get stuck in a black loading screen. Attached is their smapi log. We have mods installed but the error messages they're getting seem to imply the problem might be with smapi in general or the game itself

it is possible that my equipment and software changing is an issue

last time I was deep into SDV I was using a Hori Minipad4, a wired PS4 controller, mapped to Xinput calls to mimic an Xbox 360 controller via DS4Windows

my controller is now a SnakeByte Game:Pad 4S using the same software

but DS4Windows no longer has support for Exclusive Mode where it masks the presence of the PS4 controller so the system only sees the emulated X360 controller

however

but I'm pretty sure the controller works fine after joining in a co-op partner

A possible bug for ||mango tree||. I planted a ||mango tree sampling|| on the ||ginger island farm||. However, the ||mango tree sampling|| disappeared in the next day. I planted it on the tiltable block, and all 3x3 area around it was clean. Apparently a few other ppl have run into the same problem

okay I just figured out why. So I realized that the mango tree was still there but just invisible. It was probably because of a texture mod I used for fruit trees because it helps me to know what kind of fruit tree it is. However the mod was not updated to 1.5 so probably the mango tree model was missing. basically it's me being stupid, sorry to bother 😦

It's not stupid, but a common issue with mods that need updating, hehe. If you have any other troubles, next time try in #archived-modded-support first, since if you are using or have ever used mods in your save, it might be something you don't realize could be related :)

Hello, I am trying to play with a controller but when player 2 joins in, it reverts player 1 back to keyboard and mouse and gives player 2 the controller. Is there a way to let player 1 keep playing with controller?
(I am on PC and we have 2 controllers connected. The second controller works but the game doesn't detect it unless it joins in as Player 3.)

I think the game runs keyboard and mouse as input 1, then the controllers as specified. so make the keyboard and mouse the one who starts the local multiplayer

I did. We are on split screen. I started with keyboard and mouse and there are 2 controllers connected. When I start the game, I can use both the controllers OR the K&M. But when player 2 joins, it gives the player 1's controller over to player 2 and forces the host to play on K&M EVEN THOUGH THERE'S A SECOND CONTROLLER CONNECTED.

But when I press start on the second controller, rather than letting player 1 use it, it just assumes that a third player is joining and splits the screen further.

It starts off letting player 1 play with controller or the k&m and then rather than say "hey, there's a second controller, you could still use that one", it just completely ignores it and forces player 1 to use k&m or nothing.

We considered this, however player 1's share of the screen is the ENTIRE top half while player 2 and 3 get half each of the bottom half.

once it is set to local multiplayer splitscreen the game goes like this:
host/player1 = k&m
player 2 = controller 1
player 3 = controller 2
player 4= controller 3

you can't have the host playing on controller
