But now one of the coop guys tells me that the wine cellar only gets build in the main house. Is that true? because i already payed the 100k and now i am kinda concerned

Anyone else having issues with multiplayer on the switch? Seems like online communication doesn’t allow me to see the hosted farm and local communication lets me see it in the list but when I join it just boots me back to the title screen.

Excuse me, but does anyone know how to fix my multiplayer issues. Me and my friend started playing co op since yesterday and we have been getting issues when my friend tries to connect to my server, it's always connecting for about a minute and then he got a connection failed. We've tried restarting our game,steam,pc, joining through steam, and turning off firewalls, but it still won't work.

Hey, I’m new here! I came here to figure out how to solve the lag issue I’ve been having. It skips a frame every couple seconds and it’s frustrating. It makes fishing extremely difficult. I’ve looked online but nothings been working. I have no mods because I took them off, and I uninstalled and reinstalled but it still persists

In Penny’s event George is trying to get his mail and Penny comes in and helps, which is nice but she doesn’t ask him if he needs helps and just moves him and his chair. As a wheelchair user this scene really sticks out as disrespectful a bit? George could of gotten his hands crushed if he had tried to brace himself, a thing that happens regularly in real life when people move wheelchairs without permission. Also he’s still a person it’s more or less equivalent to pushing him out of the way. Not asking disabled people if they want help and just moving them and doing suff for them can feel dehumanizing. And if we try to back up George in the scene by telling Penny what she did was wrong, he tells her that it’s fine and he shouldn’t have reacted so. But Penny is wrong to do these things though and the whole scene is really weird and hard to play as a disabled person who uses a wheelchair. I’m sorry if this is very wordy

Oh, well I don't mean to offend or make anyone uncomfortable. In 1.4 I adjusted the dialogue so that you can tell Penny it was wrong and that she should've asked first, for the specific reason you mentioned. George reacts in the way that suits him, that doesn't necessarily mean the game is promoting a specific way to respond, but that's just the way George responds. He is upset at first, but then decides not to pursue that any further. Each character in Stardew has their own personality and way of responding to things.

Hey @finite delta , I wanted to properly respond to your response, sorry it took a while!

While I’m glad you changed the dialogue from what it used to be, it’s still a bit disheartening. I know it’s not your intention to offend, or be ableist, but the impact is still there.

I decided to do a bit of research before responding to this. I’m actually not the first person to discuss the scene being uncomfortable to see.
And, unfortunately despite the alteration, the scene is still ableist, and the wording of the dialogue choice you can pick wasn’t the only issue the scene had.

There are mods that change this scene to be less ableist, Stardew Valley is marked as having an ableism trigger warning on Does the Dog Die and other similar sites, and there was an article written about the scene’s dialogue change when 1.4 came out that said the same thing.

To explain a bit more clearly;

It’s fine that Penny was forgiven by George, but the way it’s worded is still part of the problem.

“Farmer? You were watching us?”

I was, you should have asked instead of assuming George wanted help.

Penny: Oh, I guess you’re right.
I’m sorry Mr. Mullner, it was rude what I did.

George: sigh … No, no… I’m sorry, Miss.
I shouldn’t have gotten so angry.
It was actually very kind of you to help me out.

Penny: That’s okay Mr. Mullner, I understand.

The choice implies that the reason George was angry is because Penny was helping him, rather than that she has grabbed his wheelchair and literally pushed him out of the way.
The animation for this is even of her pushing him as if he’s on a swing, without even helping him stop/not roll into danger.

As well, this option is the bad option!
Trying to point out that Penny should not have done this thing that you are not supposed to do to disabled people, punishes you for doing it.

The scene ignores a huge reality for wheelchair users by not acknowledging that Penny was 100% in the wrong for pushing George out of the way without his consent.

George can forgive Penny, and but Penny should still agknowledge Why she was in the wrong. The lesson can be more along the lines of “Ask before you touch a wheelchair”, and I think that puts Penny in a better light that she is after the cutscene plays out as is.

I think you’re a good writer! And you have made a world I really enjoy immersing myself in! But also I think it’s really important that you understand where I’m coming from.

This scene reflects my real life experience in a way that makes me, as a person who uses a wheelchair, feel bad about myself.

I really hope you consider this further.
Maybe open up discussion on Twitter or whatever and ask disabled people, and more specifically, wheelchair users, how they feel about the scene, if you want more perspective than my own.

@limpid sierra I'm not a wheelchair user but even I had problems with this scene. And sorry to comment in a conversation that doesn't involve me but as a non user I feel that my opinion matters to the situation as well as yours does.

@finite delta I agree with Solarap_, the scene is, to put it mildly, disturbing. As I watched it happen I was like "WTF B****! GET YOUR HANDS OFF HIM!"

I understand you do not want to offend anyone, especially as a game developer and designer because an offended person is not a happy customer. I LOVE SDV, moreso than the Harvest Moon series which got me interested in playing games like this.

As for the penalty for the choice, the penalty reflects attitude and personality. Penny, believing she is helping, is going to be offended and upset when you tell her the truth (as most people are in life) The penalty, in my opinion, is because you are getting onto her when she was just doing something nice, even though it was COMPLETELY wrong. While the scene is upsetting and could use some more changes, the penalty for selecting the right option should remain because I believe it reflects the personality.

As for rewrite options/ideas

Perhaps just add to what is said. Maybe make it say something like:

``Penny: Oh, I guess you’re right.
I’m sorry Mr. Mullner, it was rude what I did.

George: sigh … No, no… I’m sorry, Miss.
I shouldn’t have gotten so angry.
It was actually very kind of you to help me out and you probably didn't mean to upset me by moving me without my permission.

Penny: Okay Mr. Mullner, I understand and I'm sorry for upsetting you.``

This would validate that it is inappropriate to do this and even that Penny has learned not to do this in the future, because the sad reality is, not everyone knows that you don't do this kind of thing. Just like when speaking to someone with a translator, you speak to the person, NOT the translator.

well, I agree that the event is not ideal, and if I was making Stardew Valley again I would do it differently... However it's a bit tricky, considering George's personality. I don't feel that he's someone who would mention permissions and boundaries, etc... instead, he would probably feel angry and frustrated and kind of just bottle it up inside. I'll give it some thought, though... there's probably a way to preserve George's personality and also address the issues with the event. Unfortunately it's too late to include a text change like this in the 1.5 update (localisations are already finalized), but it's likely I'll be able to adjust it eventually (even if only in the english version)

As a non-wheelchair user myself, reading this thread makes me happy, and I agree with Solarap_ on this one. I was wanting to comment on this earlier but wasn't sure if it was my place to do so, but after seeing someone else comment, I want to say thank you to ConcernedApe for taking what they said into consideration, and also for Solarap for bringing it up in the first place.
Also super exciting to hear that 1.5 is already localized and everything! Super excited for the new farm type/new endgame features and whatever else is coming!

Oh real quick, the audio issue where the game starts without audio happened for me today on 1.4.5, I thought it was my new headphones earlier but I guess it was the game since restarting it made it so I can hear it. So that glitch may have not been fixed. I'm on windows btw.

I’ve noticed a glitch that’s been reoccurring in my game for a while now with the dust sprites ? After trying to attack you and then running away, I’ve seen that a lot of them start bouncing into the wall, which is a little annoying when you’re in an infested area. I play on IOS, iPad, Its not that very much of a big deal but i thought it’d still be good to bring up

I Was In A Normal Cave With 67 Level I was Fighting The Monsters Then I Realized I Don't Have Much Health So I Quickly Used A Totem For Quick Transfer From Cave to Beach But When I Used It, My Character Goes Invisible As Normal But The Monster Still Attacked The Invisible Player Entity And I Died Losing Items And Ended Up In Harveys Hospital. heya, I was trying to set up a 4 player split screen game but I had some issues

after connecting the third controller, UI auto set itself to 150% and I wasn't able to change it back

basically when pressing esc to open menu, I could barely see my inventory cause UI scale was too high for the screen

and I couldnt see any of the menu options

I found a way to fix it just now, basically when you connect the second controller, you have to manually fix the scale from 150% to about 80%

#

but I think that needs to be fixed instead of manually having to do it every time when connecting the second controller

is anyone else experiencing the same ultrawide resolution / UI scale issue where it is clipping off the right side of the screen as you decrease the UI scale? (see screenshot). Before on 1.4.x it would show a black bar instead in the far-right 'brighter' area. So far I've seen it with the GoG and steam versions. The mouse cursor will disappear if moved into that area.

@median crypt essentially I was playing multiplayer, 2 people. We both went into the scene || where Leo told us his name ||. The scene went fine for each of us. After we ran through the dialogue, the scene repeated itself with the OTHER PLAYER (both players experienced this). We both skipped the scene, and then we ended up in the "in-between" space. I got stuck somewhere and couldn't move, and my friend managed to get behind the || green altar with the question mark|| in the map below it.

We were lucky enough to have a return scepter to return home

honestly, it was a huge hail mary that we were able to get it to work at all and it was only through just sheer force of will we were able to make it happen

it's not ideal at all, but if you have a dual monitor setup, one thing you can do is reverse them in windows so that your left monitor is physically right of you and vise versa, and then there's a way of hacking splitscreen to kind of work on a dual monitor setup, but i know it's not ideal for your situation

I suspect most players will be using a right-handed setup, so if the kb+m is forced to play on the left side of the monitor, that really limits the appeal and social aspect of it (even if there was room on my right side, which there isn't, I would kind of be sitting turned away from the other person).

Would be neat if there was an option to switch the sides of the screens, that's all.

Reversing the monitors could be a workaround. Any pointers on how to get the dual monitor setup working?

honestly, depending on your resolution it might not even work, and it's just ultra hacky even if you pull it off because you'll have the windows "title bar" visible on the screen at all times

I understand that it's hard to anticipate every kind of scenario like that. That's what feedback is for I guess. With a second controller it would be less of an issue; I just prefer kb+m myself.

for what it's worth, the game supports independently scaling zoom and UI now, and by default the zoom values even if your screens are swapped horizontally, are sort of low, so i think if you mess with those options, you might be able to get it at place where it's maybe not ideal, but still playable on a single monitor with reversed screen sides

oh i figured it out - the 'auto updates' option, which was checked, only let me update to 1.4.5. had to UNCHECK autoupdate and select 1.5 !?!

So far, ever since we got the game, we couldn't play together. We both play in steam, windows. Firewall is disabled. I tried everything that's listed in the !mphelp command

-Multiplayer never worked since I got the game.

-I don't have people at home who are able to connect and play SDV multiplayer on Steam
