ok great :D But how did you do it?
because I'm going to do it for a lot of pages, so I need to learn how to do it^^
for sure! You just have to create a redirect for it :)
for instance if I wanted to create a french translation for Recipe Magazines in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_Magazines
I'd type "https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_Magazines/fr" instead, and just put in that newly created page "#REDIRECT name of the page in your language, like magazine de recettes"
hey guys! what are yall's opinions on changing up the way the wiki displays certain vehicles and their values? it seems like some vehicles of the same "variant" are beginning to have different values for engine loudness/weight, etc. I'm wondering if it won't be too much to create additional entries for the same vehicle type on the main /wiki/Vehicles/ page if they differ in specs :)
Oooooh OK, it's just that simple!!! :D But I don't know why it's explained in such a complicated way in the wiki, is it maybe not uptodate anymore?
Tbh when you see that almost every item in this game has its own page, it would be coherent to do so indeed!
I've done that now. Might take a little while to filter through cache
awesome, thanks! 😄
Well it already has filtered through cache from me 😄
I see the OSBSOLETE part in red already: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Modding:Lua_Events/CalculateStats
Hey all. The in-game tourist map for Riverside hasn't been updated on the Wiki since 2018. I took a screenshot of the current map, but don't see how to suggest the change on the page itself.
It does say that you cannot overwrite the current Riversidemap.png file, so if it's okay with those that contributed/are managing the page, you could probably just upload another file called "Riversidemap_41.xx" for the version and replace it in the Gallery section of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Map
@restive adder If it's not too much of a bother asking, I'd love to do an overhaul of the current vehicles page on the wiki but understand that @digital helm has take lead to most of the project/style up to this point, and I don't want to go massively changing what's already in place there, however outdated. Would this be better addressed on the wiki's discussion page or is here alright? 😄
Alright, I uploaded the new file and linked it everywhere the old map was linked. However, the "Riverside, KY" page still has a "custom tourist map" with annotations of riverside that's out-of-date. I don't know how that should be handled
Also I just realized the "game paused" was caught in my screenshot. I'll fix that as soon as I get a new map that isn't scribbled on in-game.
if you can find/stitch together the full tourist map, or whatever best replication of the one that's on the Riverside, KY page can be, then you could just do the same thing over there with a note that it's been updated for 41.65
nevermind, it's literally written as "custom" so whoever hand-created that probably did it a while ago
I'd imagine it could probably stay there with a note that its outdated or something
though who knows how much Riverside itself has changed since that update
A lot of places are still in the same locations relative to each other, so it's still somewhat useful. Although I don't know if the distances in-game are different or if the new map is just drawn to a different scale. A few locations are completely different though, like the Retail area where I noticed the discrepancy in the first place (mid-left of new map, center of old annotated map)
yeah, I still feel super spooked making any radical changes on the wiki as of yet, partly because who wants someone to just come in one day and change everything
I was thinking of suggesting a "distribution table" template on the discussions tab, will probably get around to it later today
got work for now
Updating the original Riversidemap.png page with the new version is probably the most-correct solution in my case, but idk for sure. I'm opening to going back and changing it if someone knows how to allow newer uploads on that page
At least a current version of the map is on there for now
I know I'm 9 days late to the party but I heard someone might've gotten upset that I changed the Life and Living TV schedules:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Life_and_Living_TV
#pzwiki_editing message
I used the original two sources that the original page used and I was wondering if you guys had any sources that might have more accurate information.
If I understand it correctly, the new table is technically more accurate. However, I think there needs to be a disclaimer similar to the "broadcast rules" on the Reddit post.
It's correct that you can start the program at anytime in the window if you turn on a TV when one wasn't around. If a TV is loaded near you the program still starts at 6/12/18 even if you're not watching it though, which might throw people off if they try watching it later in their base or something
Here’s fine
What I'm thinking for the vehicles page is that some variants have different stats than others, case in point the Cerise Wagon in the screenshot attached. What's circled in red and yellow is what I'd like to add to the Vehicles page, which is a separate entry/listing for every variant of all vehicles.
I only think it'd make sense to do because some variants apparently have different stats than others (case in point the Cerise wagon with one version being 32 loudness and the other 40, sort of significant). How it's currently done on the wiki is how the "Chevalier D6" is setup, circled and boxed in green, where there isn't any specification for the differences between variants.
another idea I have is a way to determine loot distribution among items. it's sometimes frustrating not finding enough information on where certain weapons/drainables can spawn without outright diving into the game's distribution files.
An example of something I've drafted up (not accurate lol, just for demonstration) that could be a template is this screenshot, which could make it easier for people to visually see where items may be found at a glance
the above could be changed to fit a more numeric approach (i.e. loot weight + # of rolls), or could literally be replaced with the game's raw distribution code, I just feel like it sort of fits the look to have something visually catching
so that's already implemented?
I wouldn't mind taking a crack at implementing an example template for it, but I think that'd be hard because some items could be classified as rare in some containers and common in others
actually discussed that a couple days ago in here about implementing a bot to scrape data from the game and update there, but it seems a little too daunting of a task
I think @young patrol already got that implemented for the Lua event pages
it's probably doable with the way the wiki's set up right now, templates and all, but I saw someone suggest a variable extension for MediaWiki a while ago here and that sounds like a good direction to go towards making the whole thing a lot less complicated
Extensions are a not unless essential, because they make maintaining media wiki harder
i'm gathering car variant images, what exactly do we need?
IK we need the Louisville news vans (i think they exist, might be wrong) and the Knox Distillery cars
Franklin Valuline - KY TRansit, Mass-Genfac Co., Lectro Manufacture, Knox Distillery.
Franklin Valuline Radio Van - 3N, LMBW
Hmmmm
Anything is appreciated, I've got a catalogue of the 6 or so new out of 45 vehicles taken in-game going up in a few days of all the new variants. Traindudeo got it right along with trailers and adverts
i already completed step van variants
Nice, I see you used that vehicle variant format haha
Any and all contributions will definitely help that influx of new players checking out the wiki
yeah at least I know how to edit wikis
Im updating towns
I already updated mauldrag, west point, valley station, and march ridge
Oh shoot, good stuff!!!
I think after I can get to overhauling vehicles there's a couple things for mechanics I'd like to add in
Oh wow, did you add those coords yourself?
yeah
I feel like this matches West Point Gun Range and Hunting Center
but its a while away from west poitn
Aww man, that's truly awesome stuff
Its a pain differentiating between the old and the new content, least from what I've experienced as of late
You could probably add it alongside the current page with a gallery tag and footnote
yeah but the main thing that its in Valley Station
Reddot is location
Hmm, yeah
I'm assuming that page just represents the store's name, because it seems like anything but a gun range
Is the "and gun range" part referring to that exact location in red, you think?
Or wait, sorry got mixed up on mobile lol
well it has a gun range and its a stroe
Could be that it could have a separate page, no? Like "Valley Station Gun store and range... etc"
yeah probaly
Seems like two separate locations
yeah
I'd think it'd be perfectly fine adding another POI page so long as there isn't already one linking to that valley station one on the wiki
yeah
I also want to make a navbox for businesses for all business and have different sections for towns and just use my knowledge on it
Ooh, like a wiki template?
yeah
I was looking to do something similar for an item distribution box on vehicle/location/loot pages
Seems unlikely to have it looked at soon though unless the execution is bulletproof
What to use to make item or vehicle pages
In the community portal page you can find links to templates you can use to make those pages easily
that pretty much works too haha, especially if the page has some fancy element or box you want to replicate
i already know how to edit wiki pages
Don't worry about vehicles, putting in an overhaul real soon
Im talking about information, chances, food, files stuff, icons
Let me get a link
If you mean chances like loot distribution, there isn't really anything implemented yet
I haven't found it yet but file icons should be stored somewhere
like i said im not talking about layout or the basic stuff
im talking about the actually info
You mean finding it within game files?
nm i found out
also Spiffo's Table Loot
Empty Spiffo Mug
Ketchup
Fries
Burger
Butter Knife
also Onoin Rings in Paper Bag
Brb firing up the grill
Jay's Chicken gives Fried Chicken
There is chicken nuggets, fried chicken, and fries and Jay's Chicken
Also can anyone confirm whether or not trailer adverts are an in-game occurrence? From my end it doesn't seem the case
Yeah, trailer signs are rare but can be seen ingame
Updated all vehicles to 41.65 on the wiki
well worth the ridiculously tired moodle, holy shit
A very minor thing I noticed
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Life_and_Living_TV
I played a sandbox game where game started on july 1st and the life and living programs started as soon as the run started, meaning the 'Changing the start date in a Sandbox game will not alter the show's start date on July 9th (07/09)' is no longer correct unless I'm reading it wrong
@exotic ginkgo @young patrol would you guys still be down testing out this idea with media/scripts/?
?
ahh, appreciate the context 😄
Hello, I would like to point out a discrepancy on the Metal Crate.
In the Container's wiki page for Metal Crate it is said
A metal crate will not appear in the game world naturally, requiring it to be built by the player. Building a metal crate requires a metalworking level of 4 and will have a weight capacity of 80. Unlike the wooden crate, the metal crate cannot be stacked on top of other items of furniture, including other metal crates.
Where's on the Metal Crate Wiki Page it is said that;
A metal crate is used as a means of item storage, with a capacity of 80 weight. They can be stacked up to three high, giving 240 capacity, the maximum for a single tile.
Links:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Containers#Metal_Crate
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Metal_Crate
I wouldn't know which is the truth as it's my first few playthroughs for the game. So I'm pointing it out here because I am nublet who can't make a metal crate as of yet to figure it out.
I found a photo of kate while foraging in a urban area, Which means the photo is no longer an unimplemented item in current day zomboid, also it is high res when you place it.
yes you can also find it in a house in muldraugh which looks like bob and kate's house
Oh I guess the wiki on the photo of kate is just extremely outdated.
Made my first PZ guide thanks to PZwiki 🙏
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2707497848
the Base ID's for the VHS tapes are missing in the wiki, anyone know how to find what they are?
how can i translate a page of the wiki?
Not sure if you're trying to add another language or just translate ur page to one of the existing languages, but here I think this is what u meant
Yeah i want to translate one existing page into spanish and post it in the wiki
but i dont control really much the wiki editor
boys, empty tin can has no usage in game? desc in wiki is for 41.50
its just a trash i think
thank you!
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Crowbar#Zombies
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Katana#Zombies
Talks with Chat indicate that this Part is wrong:
"After X days have passed, Y can be found impaled in the back of zombies."
Someone confirmed to me that they have found a Zombie with a Katana within the first 59 Days of ingame time. The Crowbar after 10 Days might also be wrong, but could'nt confirm.
The issue with that is they may have spawned at a later date which made the katana spawn early.
Also the info for that is sourced from the game's code itself. AttachedWeaponDefinitions.Lua
-- katana in stomach
AttachedWeaponDefinitions.katanaStomach = {
chance = 1,
weaponLocation = {"Stomach"},
bloodLocations = {"Torso_Lower","Back"},
addHoles = true,
daySurvived = 60,
weapons = {
"Base.Katana",
},
You mean like the Starting date of the game has been altered? So the spawning restriction is basically only "60 days after the default starting date" ?
Yes, cause if you spawn 6ML, you can find all of these weapons impaled in zombies from day 1.
hey guys, know this isnt what this channel is for but does anyone know how to do an online co op? does it have to be done over hamachi or something similar? think that now that the multiplayer beta is out it wouldn't be a bad idea to set up a wiki page on how to do something like that for people who are interested
does anyone know if the following is true? "Wearing Bloody clothing increases the chance of transmission when receiving a wound. Clothes can be washed with water, faster with soap."
As Poloski said, not the official wiki you linked. However, I also think that's false. Wounds only get the zombie infection at the time wounds are received I'm almost certain
Having bloody clothes to my knowledge does increase the chance of getting an infected wound, not the zombie infection but of an infection building up
Does anyone know if being bloody actually affects your mood moodles aswell?
as far as I know it only matters if you use hemophobic trait
Anyone know if it says on the wiki anywhere, how to specify server config file for dedicated server
Trying to make a page for Ekron, KY but keep getting stopped by the spam filter. Anyone know how to fix this?
No, but this was helpful for setting up my server. https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/topic/20771-sandboxvarslua-file-explanation/
Hi all, I have the below for my server with the explanations I know, Please can someone fill in the blanks?; SandboxVars = { Zombies = 4, (1 is insane amount, 5 is none) Distribution = 1, (1 is urban, 2 is uniform) DayLength = 3, (1 is 15 minutes, 2 is 30 minutes, 3 is 1 hour, 4 is 2 hours, 5 is ...
Not sure how to correctly edit myself, but on the items page Health and Safety under Equipment Category is the same exact and duplicated later on the page under the "Medical" Category. Not sure if intended or not!
anyone know how to increase reading speed for dedicated server?
would like to decrease the beginner book to 45 second read time
@fickle dagger The dedicated server setting is called MinutesPerPage. IIRC Beginner books are 220 pages, so you'd set MinutesPerPage to 0.2045 for ~45 mins
Currently creating the pages for several missing ammo types but there's a naming discrepancy in code and ingame
Should I add a note for this somehow?
Also, does anyone know how to edit the crafting supertable, weapon navbox etc? 5.56mm rounds are hella inconsistently named across tables and will thus not link to the correct page
Alternatively, does anyone know how to create redirect-pages?
^ #REDIRECT PAGENAME
thanks!
45 minutes no way hahah!
Not sure what you mean by this?
Yes, that's it. Thank you.
Hi! I noticed under communication tiles it says Desktop Computer is "only found at the abandoned secret facility", this is no longer accurate with the Louisville update. There all over the place in Louisville shops/offices.
Anyone can edit the wiki, just need to make an account
Not sure if I should do this but, I just made my first major contribution to the wiki! https://pzwiki.net/wiki/M16_Assault_Rifle
Ooooooooh lovely!
Been updating item codes as I go along, nice to start visiting more pages and it being up to 41.65 :)
Hehe, alright last one for today I'm getting a little weary now: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/M14_Rifle
Hey, having an issue with updating PZ wiki.
Tried to update First Aider trait icon, but something weird happens.
At first it didn't update the icon and just made it look like I reuploaded the previous version, which was 100% not the case (I don't even have the original file downloaded).
Then it showed my old version is actually updated icon, but the last one is once again reuploaded old version.
And currently all the changes are gone by themselves.
Pardon for inconvenience, but this is first time I'm having issues like this while contributing to a wiki, not sure what I did wrong.
@fickle dagger it's MinutesPerPage in the server's .ini config
Editing the MSR700 page and came across the bayonet attachment, anyone know what it does?
Can't seem to get an answer anywhere on it, I think it might be not functional in-game atm
Actually just came across a minor issue and I'm not sure what to do, there are two articles on the MSR700 rifle,
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Varmint_Rifle (This one seems to been used a lot more)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/MSR700_Rifle (This is just the code definition for the rifle from the lua files)
If you're updating pages I'd label the Varmint Rifle page as outdated / pre-Build 41and work on the MSR700 page
The same discrepancy exists for the Hunting Rifle / MSR788
As for the bayonet, the only references to it I can find are as attachments for the Varmint Rifle. Probably never implemented and has no sprite-model, even though there are references to alternative visuals for the rifle with bayonet attached.
Alright, there is a sprite of the bayonet in-game and can be attached on to the rifle but as far i can tell it has no effect other than being visual
Thanks
Where'd you find the sprite? I can't find it in the current version
In-game, idk if it's reusing another sprite though
In addition to the Varmint Rifle, several weapons have references to "Bayonnet" attachments
Hm one more question because of that outdated name, should I be uploading new images of the MSR700/788 using the current names or the old names (varmint and hunting rifles)
Pictures are named after item IDs IIRC, which remain the same
alright
Just to confirm what I said above
Whats the label tag for pre-build 41?
Try this: Build 40</noinclude>
awesome worked like a charm
well, now all the rifles in-game with the exception of the lever action and sniper rifle now have a wiki page!
The pages are looking great 🙂
ty :)
I’m probably going to add a link to the Modding section somewhere on the home page, because as pointed out by #mod_development there’s no indication the page exists from the main page.
Hey! I'm new. My PZWiki username is user:Actuallyamod. I've been updating the Tailoring page a lot lately. Just wanted to introduce myself!
I added Modding to quick links. I don't like to unilaterally edit the main page (even if I technically still have the wiki manager title 😅 ) since I been absent the last couple of years. So if anyone doesn't feel great about it, hopefully we can revisit it.
I'm trying to get into contributing by adding in some of the new food items, where do I find the in-game inventory icons for stuff in the game files?
thanks, this has a few of them, but I have a giant list of the new stuff that isn't on the main food page and most still aren't in there
thats fine
should I just make the pages then add the images later?
I'll probably have to start tomorrow, as its basically midnight where I am rn
so maybe by then there will be an answer anyways
Hello.
Not sure if i'm at the right place, as it say "Not the place for general question" but still don't find an other place to talk about it.
So on the Wiki there is informations about the "BonusXP" on Strenght and Fitness that has appear on build 41.
First page ( https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Traits ) add a note that say it was a bug and that this bonus is not applied.
Second page ( https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Skills ) didn't talk about that being a bug, as it even give you calculation of that bonus.
Couldn't find any answer out there, so i was assuming someone here could have the answer, and maybe be able to fix, in some ways, those misinformation on the wrong page.
Still sorry if that wasn't the place to discuss, if that's the case, just tell me where to post it and i'll repost it asap.
Strength and Fitness are not affected by the XP multiplier on a server, so I'd assume no multipliers work for them
@thin silo
Well then thank you ^^
I assumed the page not adding the note was writed before it was proved as a bug, so it stayed that way.
If you want to edit it in I'd say that you currently do not gain any bonus xp for sprinting or fitness and that it's unclear if intended
Not sure if this is where I'd ask this, so apologies in advance if it isn't: why do links to redirect pages on the wiki display the title of the target page? For example, in the "redirects" section of the style guide, the Duffel Bag link displays as Duffelbag (the same is true for all examples in the section), which makes that entire section a bit confusing if you don't look at the source. It also makes automatic redirects a bit confusing (the redirect notice displays as having been redirected from the same page)
I don't think this is a default behavior, and I'm unsure what the benefit of it is if it's an enabled setting or extension. The style guide issue could be resolved by changing the display of the wikilink to the redirect text & link to the target page, but that's a very dirty workaround & it would make the edit page make less sense, as opposed to the view page
Hmm interesting, I have never noticed that before.
Yeah, it's pretty strange. I'm not sure whether this is a new issue because I've been away from the game for some time. I tried searching to see if it was a known bug or something, but didn't find much
I can maybe take a look this weekend if no one else can illuminate us
Did you ever figure out a workaround?
Oh, I read the link you sent
Nice find, I had absolutely no idea what to search for while trying to figure it out
nice
Thanks a ton!
So how do I properly upload an image to the Category:Food (Images) page. Because all I have now is a single png of a bagel floating somewhere in the ether and I want to know how to do it properly before I try again
nothing in the wiki really tells me how to upload it to a specific place
I just read that the images should be there so someone doesn't upload a duplicate
I don't believe you upload it to a place, you just edit the category page
Edit it and add the image there and the name, etc.
neat, thanks
When I spoke to Vaileasys about it, he said that it was a change made by MediaWiki (or is it WikiMedia?) and it's sort of out of our hands. We could revert to a previous version of it or something - I'm pretty unsure though
Dang, that's unfortunate. Thank you for looking into it!
@elder estuary @royal sluice @lusty mantle it's one of the extensions. As @quartz bear said, it's the DisplayTitle extension. The newest version has fixed the bug. Iirc @restive adder was going to update when he next updated the mediawiki version.
Has anyone explored installing Cargo (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Cargo) to better manage all the various tables and dynamically generate them from the infobox data instead of hand-editing? I was exploring updating a bunch of the pages based on the media/scripts/*.txt and noticed you've got a pretty good infobox standard but no dynamic queries on the various pages.
real quick, for the planks and metal sheets for barridading, are they 1000 for planks and 5000 for sheets? I thought it was 100 per plank and 500 for sheets
The search function on Special:ListFiles seems to be broken, presumably the same 10-year old bug described here with a fix: https://www.mediawiki.org/w/index.php?title=Topic:Pwjch65m0lbr7n8e&topic_showPostId=v5iqrlhwwd2ght5c#flow-post-v5iqrlhwwd2ght5c. Not really high priority since the regular search can be used & limited to multimedia for the same thing (and, as I just found out, there is an entire image category which makes what I wanted to do even easier 😅 )
The actual strength varies based on the condition of the item (& some sort of barricade strength modifier on the character), but the base values for those two items are accurate. The metal bar strength does need to be corrected, though. Relevant snippet, modified to remove irrelevant bits:
public static final int PLANK_HEALTH = 1000;
public static final int METAL_HEALTH = 5000;
public static final int METAL_HEALTH_DAMAGED = 2500;
public static final int METAL_BAR_HEALTH = 3000;
im checking ther foraging wiki
seems like its being worked on
this is wrong, as ive actually found crickets with just no level or 1 level
same for this one, you can find this even at 0 foraging
oh wait, hm
so looks like the foraging "level required" they probably just used the data that was already on the wiki
definitely needs to be updated more, eg you can find jarred veggies on roads for example
Gotcha, there was some conflicting info elsewhere on the wiki, just wanted to confirm
I tried to move the Server Hat page to Fast Food Server Hat to match the in-game name, but I haven't made enough edits to do that. So, this is me informing the administrators of what I wanted to do as the message suggested
Had a few questions so just gonna rapid fire them (these are regarding the Items/Clothing page):
-
For items whose definitions utilize ColorRed/Green/Blue, should the icons be edited (that is, tinted) to match their ingame icons? It seems like that's what was done for the light bulb images, but wanted to confirm anyway.
-
I wanted to merge some of the not-yet-created underwear entries into one, so instead of a page for each variant of strapless bra, there would be a single "strapless bra" page (and table row) with all of the variants. They all share the same weight, and this is done for some of the other clothing items, but unlike those items the underwear has different names, so I thought it best to ask.
-
Already added a discussion on the talk page about this, but while I'm here, I think Tank Top should be moved from the underwear table to the torso extra (or shirts) table. It's the only entry with fabric type, insulation, and wind resistance so it makes the table wider than it has to be, & I think it fits better elsewhere anyhow
Sorry for all the questions lately, please do let me know if these types of questions are better suited for discussion pages
Hey guys, just wanna share my first pz wiki articles an so there's my question: Have I done everything correct?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Weapons/pl
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Occupation/pl
I'm still unsure of what the standard is, but Fast Food Server hat is not the only display name for server hats. There are: Spiffo's Server Hat, Ice Cream Server Hat, and Fast Food Server Hat
If anything, I feel like the infobox should just say Server Hat as the name. Or the alternative versions should have their names listed with |alternate-name or whatever that field is called
Is there a way to find stats for food as it goes stale/rotten in the game files? my current memthod of going into the game in debug and just trying to find all the stuff so I can skip time until it gets to the stale/rotten stage isn't super efficient
Could someone take a look at the Electricity article I made? It seemed like a pretty crucial topic that didn’t have an article so i made some general information about it, but it could use some more love
I would love if someone checked my bagel entries for any jank, and also explained how I could add them to the main food entry, as I'm really scared of messing that one up
All my answers are predicated on the fact, I been out of the wiki editing game for a couple of years and only recently returned.
-
As in for recipes?(Actually can't imagine they are used this way) It would make some sense, at least from a quick visual check. -
In theory I think that sounds like a good idea, as long as the variants are documented somehow on the base page. (Much in the same way as Light Bulb)
-
Intrinsically I would associate tank top as a torso thing rather than and underwear thing, but maybe there's a script definition reason why it's placed in the underwear section? Though I don't see why it would be from my recollection.
Thank you for the answers! Response to the response: #1 was regarding one of the underwear items; #2 okeydoke, sounds good! I'll make sure to add redirects, as well; #3 I believe the tank top has its own clothing type, "TankTop", but I'll have to double check (yup, body location TankTop + it's in the same file as shirts)
Having it's own clothing type would make some sense from a code perspective, but I see little reason why it can't be placed under torso section if it acts like other torso items. As an aside, I have also personally believed in the idea that variants of things for the game should need a very good reason to have their own page, because it spreads information that needs to be updated further (which to me was always annoying)
Nice!
ty
Looks good, I would advise you take a shot at adding it (learn by doing 😉 ). You can always preview changes, and if anything goes wrong you (or I) can revert the changes with little fuss. If you have any specific questions, can try and answer them.
Further clarification RE: 2 - I would be curious to see how things looks with variants in table entries still existing but all linking to the same page. Probably would depend on context.
That'd look similar to the current table, I think; aside from reducing unnecessary pages, my motivation was decreasing the size of the very large underwear table
Images for the variants could still be included in the icon field if they aren't included as entries (that's how some variants with the same name are treated)
I can see the argument of item pages being used as reference pages for admins to spawn stuff that it's good to have them listed there. I guess there just might need to be a consistent style guide in regards to variants.
Like with shirts?
Seems like the standard is individual pages for items of different names, so I'll leave that issue alone for now. Thank you for the guidance
Shirts & some other clothing, I think the baseball cap is an example
Hmm... I think you might be right then. It's a more concise way to convey the same information.
Plus I think it's odd right now that it's ordered by colour in the underwear section rather than type. Which might be helped by it all being folded into one entry.
Agreed, it looks a bit strange as it is
Might be nice if I could figure out a way to maybe make a gif of the variations rather than having each variation in the image field.
I was just looking at the existing ones earlier (one of the tailoring recipes is outdated, as underwear is unusable in certain recipes), seems like the standard right now is 1 frame per second, 1 second per image
I'm sure creation of those can be automated if it hasn't been already
At the very least, you could add the item to your inventory with the terminal in game's debug mode
thats what I ended up doing for the bagels, and will probably do for everything else. The only real problem food for that is going to be the granola bar, as iirc it takes 80 days to go rotten
I can see if it can be calculated from the code later, but I'll be a bit
Almost certain it can, but would need to look at the source code to grab values which I can't do right now.
Same here, maybe someone available can take a look sooner
Wait, what are you trying to figure out? How long something is fresh, stale and rotten or the associated negatives for each state?
associated negative values
I can see the rotten/stale times in the game files, but it doesn't show the reduced hunger values there
I believe it's uniform amongst all food types.
Some have danger if uncooked and sickness if eaten.
But believe that's around meats and such. (even if not rotten)
yeah, I'm just trying to figure out how much less hunger reduction you'll get from stale/rotten foods
Like, the fresh bagel is -10 hunger, but the stale is only -7
Is it just a flat percentage reduction, or unique to each food?
Flat percentage I think that gets clamped.
neat
that will save me a lot of work
I might still do in-game tests because it looks like the boredom/unhappiness for rotten food still varies
I think values scale based on time between the two points of stale and rotten. I WAS WRONG @deep hearth WENT ALL DETECTIVE ON IT
I think I figured it out, I was just being dumb
stale gives +10 to boredom and unhappiness, and rotten gives +20
but if an item gives -unhappiness baseline, that carries over to its stale and rotten states
so pizza gives +10 boredom but no unhappiness penalty when stale, and only gives +10 unhappiness when rotten
Nice!
That looks right at least
I honestly only got there because I was staring at the pizza entry on the wiki and losing my mind about it only having +10 unhappiness despite being rotten
It does make some sense.
that also explains why it isn't part of the files for each food item, as it would be easier to just have it run the calculation for stale/rotten food and apply the new stats instead of adding a bunch of lines to each item
Good afternoon everyone. I hope you're all well. My character got to level 10 foraging last week and I have been testing out what I could find in Deep Forest. I've found a lot of things that aren't on the wiki. Today I edited it to include that Apples can be found as of build 41 while foraging.
Is this the right place to report about what we do on the wiki? Thank you
It's certainly an avenue to do so, but not strictly necessary. Greatly appreciated though!
Jeez, pzwiki chat is becoming rlly active again
I gotta get back to making more pages
Didn't see this until now while checking an earlier message, sorry. The style guide says that article titles should match ingame names, so I intended to move it to conform with that. Considering the variants, I suppose it'd be better to handle that with redirects
@lusty mantle I know I said I'd leave it alone for now, but I did the other two things & therefore cannot stop myself from double checking to see if going ahead with the underwear variant change would be alright
I intend to work on clothing pages at some point later in the week, so changing it before doing so would help to know what needs to be done
I took a look at the article you wrote and have a few ideas for improvement - however I am a new PZWiki contributor so I'm not exactly across the etiquette for editing aside from presumably reading the style guide etc. first - should I just change the article at will? Seems that the version history is easily accessible if need be.
go for it!
i’m pretty new to making articles in general, so my formatting is abysmal
I added the changes just then, feel free to give feedback
Might have missed my question so I'm @ing directly; @restive adder I'm noticing a lot of inconsistencies between infoboxes and tables of items. This is because all tables have to be edited individually and manually rather than going off infobox statistics. Has anyone explored installing Cargo (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Cargo) to better manage all the various tables and dynamically generate them from the infobox data instead of hand-editing? It would really cut down on the inconsistencies. If that extension could be installed, I could do a quick pass on the most common tables (bags, weapons) and modify it to reference the infobox directly.
Do you have any good examples of sites that use this extension? I’m curious on the ease of updating and changing things.
Sure, check out the caves of qud wiki: Example, the full axe skill list here https://wiki.cavesofqud.com/wiki/Axe is generated from in skill tree, and since all the items use the same template, in that template you add the cargo_declare:_table section seen here to identify the fields you care about in tables: https://wiki.cavesofqud.com/index.php?title=Template:Skill&action=edit which enables the table auto-populate on the Axe page (and anywhere else)
You can also take a sublist of the elements and instead of the basic list query by embedding a subset like in the armor example https://wiki.cavesofqud.com/index.php?title=Armor_(AV)&action=edit but this is a bit advanced and don't need to do it initially though it might be useful to add a simple query to separate out axe, blunt, etc into separate tables to keep the identical look: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Weapons#Blunt_weapons
In the pzwiki, I'd use the fields already extant in the infobox, add the cargo declare into the infobox template, or maybe the infobox weapon template.
Done this way, the subdata of an item lives on the individual item infobox and when you update that all dynamic tables are updated as well.
Updating MediaWiki is a pain, extensions make it worse. I’ll only be up for adding new extensions if they’re essential, and help massively.
As far as I know extensions are the only way to do value reference like that. I don't see value drift across pages getting better without some solution. Maybe there's a different solution I'm not aware of, but it's a persistent problem that needs addressing IMO.
What's an example, if you have one off the top of your head? I know at least some of the pages are mismatched due to discrepancies between builds 40 & 41, so they'll be fixed as the update project proceeds
Random example, Tote Bag weight is .5 on the tooltip and .1 on the list. There are items missing from the list like Rain boots, and yeah, of course someone can go in and spot fix items manually but it's just multiple places to edit instead of one
Gotcha, yeah I've noticed inconsistencies on the clothing page as well. Cargo would prob be helpful but I'm sure it won't be too bad to do manually
Is there any documentation on adding and playing music in-game, that's not from a cd player? i.e. actual background music
Edit: think i'll just add it to a cd player and trigger it from there
@dire saddle I think you might be looking for #mod_development, for future reference (unless you were asking if documentation is available on the wiki?)
oh crap, yes that's right. wrong channel sorry :--D
No worries 🤠
Is there a way to determine which distributions are associated with which areas? I know that I can use ProceduralDistributions.lua + Distributions.lua to see which loot tables items are in & the XML files + item GUIDs for zombie outfits, but I'm not sure how to tell where those loot tables are used. Asking so I can add "distribution" sections where necessary
Also, am I mistaken or did someone mention at some point that the "code" section is being phased out? I don't want to add it to new pages if it'll be more work to remove down the line if so
Third question because I apparently can't avoid asking questions in sets of three: Is there a standard method for creating renders of models for the main infobox image?
Not that I know of atm, but I can share how I did mine for the rifle weapons
Please do, I'd love to add some of the missing pages but I want to make sure they're complete/compliant w standards
Alright, you know how to grab models from the game and get them into a rendering software like blender?
it doesnt have to be blender but its what im most familiar with
Oh, I thought you were talking abt a different question. No, I don't; I've used blender but only a bit
I don't expect you to explain at that level though (I mean, you can & it'd be easier for me, I just figure it'd be tedious), I can probably determine stuff like that given a general overview
Yeah its basic stuff, nothing fancy you just need to know the basics so you can rotate the models and move them around for screenshots
but yeah, before we get to blender though, im assuming you know already how to get in-game models exported to obj for blender or so (again this kinda ancedotal and i based my stuff on already existing 3D renders on the wiki)
I do not
I assume there's a directory, or multiple directories, with model files and I convert the relevant file to that type
So who's capable of changing these blue boxes that are represented on most sides containing items? And the Page Updated info?
It makes 0 sense to contain an item in the "unarmed combat section". Bare Hands is literally a -debug weapon that has nothing to do with the actual "bare hand" combat.
Infoboxes are templates, which means they're in the template namespace (prefixed by Template:). As long as they aren't protected anyone can edit them, but you seem to mean the value so that just involves editing the page normally
I started typing before you added that clarification lol, but yeah
The entire blue box should be removed yeah
It may be referring to stomp damage? Not sure
It's not 100%. Bare Hands is indeed a weapon that exists in the game
you can add it to yourself in -debug and it lets you punch zombies
but its not obtainable in the normal game and definitely has no relation with pushing and stomping
Oh, I see what you mean. Checked out the page & it does have that code as a reference, huh
Yeah I agree that that doesn't really need to be there
I kinda just stumbled over it since I keep track/update the Weapons page. Where I also can't edit the red bar containing the "page updated: version 41.51" info.
Actually is it ok if I post the guide for how I get in-game models rendered to screenshots here? Its a bit lengthy and technical so just wondering if that would be ok or not
That's another template, you should be able to change it by changing values in the template
The part (where ... is the categories between the template name & the version)
If not, is it hosted anywhere? Or could you DM it to me?
I think it'd be neat if guides could be added to the PZWiki namespace at some point, so people who want to contribute don't have to reverse engineer
Yeah I'd love to make this into an actual page on the wiki but I dont know if that would be ok to do or not, I know I followed a guide for this but I can't find it atm
Ill just dm ya it for now
Thank you!
I don't see why it couldn't be.
Probably file it under Modding or something: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Modding
Alrighty, so it'll be cool if I make a guide for how to get in-game models and export them to blender + how to render them for screenshots and etc
Oh, nice! Hopefully I can help expand that section at some point, too
Sure, as long as you're not full on stealing someone elses guide and posting it on pzwiki it should be fine.
Awesome I'll see to it then!
Hi, is it possible to get the permission to edit the modding wiki? Because, for example, I would change How to Add custom XP and the Perks name: link to a post on TIS Discord with the link:
#mod_development message
to
https://github.com/MrBounty/PZ-Mod---Doc/blob/main/How to make a custom skill or perk.md
Go for it!
Because I already can ? I never edit a wiki
You just got to create an account, maybe verify your email and you're good to go.
Mmmm I tried that, I think I didn't find the menu. I will check again
Ok thx
Traits aren’t up to date
It's worked, I change the page
Update on this: there seems to be some precedent for grouping variants together, with Apron, Scarf, Server Hat, & now Bandana. Gonna go ahead & group them and if anyone is terribly opposed then it can be changed
So, I'm looking at programmatically updating the infoboxes on various pages so I'm rooting around in the .txt data... one of these things is not like the others:
'CannedPeachesOpen',
'CannedPeasOpen',
'CannedPineappleOpen',
'CannedPotatoOpen',
'CannedSardinesOpen',
'CannedTomatoOpen',
'DogfoodOpen',
'OpenBeans',
'TinnedSoupOpen',
'TunaTinOpen',
This is violence, beans
Beans are far too important to be standards compliant (or they came first)
I have a server in nitrado I put the ID and the name of the mod and it does not load it on the server do you have any idea why? help plz
Any insight on this and/or the above question? Just in case it was missed
I wouldn’t worry about it for now, and just add code where applicable when you can.
If it gets phased out it will need a concerted effort anyway.
Okeydoke, will do. Thank you!
If I get the mapping down I'll be able to update all the items in big batch chunks, updating the code section to each page is trivial. I'm a large part of the way there, I don't know exactly how many map 1:1 yet because I don't want to hammer the wiki with hundreds of requests at this point (I won't be bulk updating without clearing it with people and doing it in batches. don't worry)
Finally got over my fear and added some food entries I've done to the main page
I'll try to knock out as many perishables as I can, then start on the other ones
is it okay for me to translate pages that doesnt exist in my language ?
also can i ask why translated pages (ex. Mechanics/ja, Mechanics/zh) are displayed their current location in the navigation bar as just their language code ?
for example:
(the original english page)
Side effect of how the header* template works; translations are subpages & technically the page name is "zh", not "Mechanics/zh"
Could probably be changed to check if it's a subpage + named one of the expected language codes then use the parent page name (or its translation) instead
Haven't messed with wiki templates in a few years so this is assumption, but off the top of my head I'm pretty sure all the necessary tools exist to fix that (to clarify, I haven't messed with wiki templates on PZWiki ever; I'm talking abt different wikis)
hm so well the navigation bar can be translated too right ?
Seems like it can from the screenshot above, but I'm not super familiar with the template. I've only given it a glance
Not at a computer right now so I can't take a closer look, but hopefully someone knowledgeable about them can help out
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/양동이 made my first actual pzwiki page
(altho i had to make several template pages because there were none)
I think the standard is that if the items are similar and have the same statistics, they can be grouped. If their stats are different, they /should/ be their own pages (but that doesn’t always happen)
One example of one I feel should be changed is bulletproof vests since they give different insulation
I figured that was the case, although scarf currently goes against it. I think for some items best judgement is probably ideal anyhow, as the scarf variants fit together imo
I think the same is true for large backpack and military backpack, as the latter currently redirects to the former, but I'm working through clothing before messing with equipment
Thank you for the guidance on the standard, also
Idc really as long as they say in text what the differences are in values I guess. Maybe for insulation values just do ‘see #insulation values’ or something?
Like, bulletproof vests you have to look at the code section to see that values, which feels very not right
I like how Scarf set it up & I modeled Bandana after it: a "Variants" section which lists any relevant differences in a table
i found a way to do it; i just needed to feed it the pagename variable
Nice! Hopefully the default template can be updated at some point to do that automatically for translations
whew it seems like templates in other languages are almost nonexistent 😭
Yeah, I think that the other languages are a bit undertouched in the wiki. Unfortunately, I'm a one language man 😦
bahaha im trying my best with korean
i have no idea on programming whatsoever but ive managed to translate some templates
Oh no twitter speaker
Yay

Go pick a fight with someone else
some infoboxes and the header, etc
also the language bar is weird, it fetches language/title but the way its made it only fetches "Language:" and ntg else
What do you mean?
I have a (perhaps radical) suggestion for the header template: I think it should take you to the page if it exists, rather than the category
For example, clicking the "Clothing" link in the header navigation bar brings you to Category:Clothing, which I personally think is unintuitive considering the existence of the Items/Clothing page. This could be accomplished with #ifexists (which would work fine with Items/Clothing because of the redirect from Clothing)
This is the code for Template:Languages
...
<includeonly><table width="100%" style="font-size:14px; margin: 14px 0 14px 0; background-color:#F8F9FA; border: solid 1px #A2A9B1; min-height:34px;" cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0>
<td valign="middle" width="101px" style="min-width:101px; padding:0 5px 0 5px; border-right:solid 1px #A2A9B1;">
</td>
<td valign="middle" style="padding:0 10px 0 10px;"> :BASEPAGENAME}}}|English{{Languages/Lang|fr|{}|
...
</includeonly>
...
Take a look at
This is the code for Template:Languages/Title
<onlyinclude>{{#switch:{}
|=Language:
|Languages=Language:
|MediaWiki=Language:
|af=Taal:
|aln=Gjuha:
...
|de=Sprache:
...
|zu=Ulimi:
|#default=Language:
}}</onlyinclude>
...
it takes in the first parameter and feeds it in a switch
but isnt BASEPAGENAME the title of the parent page ? like Mechanics in Mechanics/zh
if you feed that to Languages/Title then it would only default to Language: all the time instead of actually translating to 语言:, 언어:, Sprache:, etc wouldnt it ?
i think it should be SUBPAGENAME instead of BASEPAGENAME
idk abt coding at all but thats the way it seemed to me
Hey, new to pz so i dont know the answer to this, but which table on the tayloring page is right? One says (Scratch/Bite/Bullet) and the other says (Bite/Scratch/Bullet), which would be fine but the order does matter. Also, are lacerations completely unaffected? Thanks for whoever fixes this! https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Tailoring
I think that's the idea; Language: seems like a namespace here (like Help: and Category:) disregard, upon closer look you're totally right
Wait, actually looking more closely at that I'm not so sure
Oh, I see what you mean. That is strange
yeeah but since i cant edit i can only hope someone who can do it sees this
anyone know anything about https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Pipe_Wrench?
Hey guys, I'm adding my tests done in debug mode covering bandage life and how the first-aid skill influences it.
I actually have my notes still on me from the tests I did if you guys want to refer to them.
I simply bandaged multiple wounds over and over again and calculated the average bandage time between 10 bandages and then compared the results to eachother with each skill increase
Big thank you forum bois
Hello 👋 😃 just arrived on the wiki and did some (I guess) needed contributions. Feel free to look over or correct my edits if you spot any mistakes. Have not got a good overview of all templates and categories yet. Also I can be a bit rusty, haven't been editing wikis for 2 years 😶🌫️
Thoughts on this? I'm curious as to whether there's a glaring problem with this suggestion that I'm not seeing. If there isn't, I think it should be implemented & I wouldn't mind making the change myself, unless someone well-versed in templating would rather do it
Does anyone know if there is a list of credits for Project Zomboid? Programmers, directors, artists, etc. Trying to update and simplify the Wikipedia article.
do you mean this https://pzwiki.net/wiki/The_Indie_Stone?
A more in depth one that describes each role like the one in the main menu
So not that exactly
Can I get a check on whether the weighing scale is legit? I got one but it doesnt work
You can click the names for more details on the team members individually if that's what you're looking for
with regards to the automated item/craft wiki http://undeniable.info/pz/wiki/itemlist.php it has just been updated to hold information as per version 41.65, as well as fixed the mini chat box, and now each items spawn chances with regards to the new procedural item spawning is outlined for each time that has procedural spawning
Disagree. Better for spawn locations and potentially crafting, but as a whole, less useful in theory. It doesn't say what the items DO, just where they are found and crafted into/from.
And in my opinion, that's the more useful information. You can always find crafting info in game
I didn't say you could
I just use my custom distribution code if I really care, but undeniable is really good for it as well. Just less useful for new players, which we have a ton of right now
(undeniable is probably better than my shit code, I just need reasons to write code sometimes, lul)
I sent Nolan an email some time ago wondering if there was an easy way to get that information pushed to the wiki without trying to parse it myself - some underlying API or if he could add the wiki as an endpoint if he manually pushes
I'm so far removed from what actual wiki editing is like, I'm just a glorified text editor
So I don't know exactly what that would like like or how it would help the wiki. I know you can programmatically edit pages but I assume there's some not so fun bits before you can really make any changes so I've never bothered
script populated / automated wiki has some advantages, easy to update, acurate, but limited info with regards to the spesific uses of items etc
Of course. Since I have you here, would there be a way to auto populate the pzwiki using the code you have now?
Mine doesn't touch procedural lists, or I'd use that
certainly would be possible, but i would need a very high level access to the PZWiki database to automatically insert such a quantity of info. Its unlikely PZ devs would feel confortible with that kind of idea
@digital helm Do you think it could be possible to automate the crafting and distribution code using the same code that pushes to http://undeniable.info/pz/wiki/itemlist.php ?
Is Vaileasys still kicking around here? Haven't seen a message in some time
idk about this Vaileasys fellow.
but the undeniable.info/pz/wiki/ is powered by a php script which reads/parses the game files in order to populate a database which the site reads from.
He and @vital raptor are the PZ wiki admins
Vaileasys is still active on the wiki (so probably accessible via talk page), dunno about discord
There are ways to automate large scale page editing/creation without that
Without a database, I mean
To have a wiki which is partially populated / updated automatically AND still have it user populated/edited would be possible but would need a number of save guards to prevent automatically content from possibly overriding user content when it should not. Doable with the proler access but woukd just need to be done carefully
Why can't we just make assumptions that aren't strongly enforced. Such as, if a Distribution section doesn't exist, create one and populate it. If it does, destroy it and write new content
Just saying that there's an alternative since you aren't fond of manual editing. I didn't say it's ideal or even better
Sure maybe fine. Just devs were not interested last i brought it up. Thus we have 2 wikis still
Fair enough
Probably. It's beyond my understanding though :/
I got a question, how is it that on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Big_Locker
using template
has 3x pipes (which is wrong) but on
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Crafting_metalworking/doc
it is correct with 8x pipes even if it is using the same template?

or are these taking the info from a separate source?
its using the recipe for the small locker thats why lmao
idk why that big locker page has descriptions of a small locker
oh wait

hold on
i edited it a lil bit you can see the changes
clear prevents from any elements beforehand from protruding to ones afterhand
yea I know 'clear' but sometimes no fan of it. If a page is a bit emptier, it can also destroy a structure of a page.
definitely better than this though
that bit was protruding out of the page because the content was too smol
sure 👍 , but does not change that I generally are no fan of it ^^ wish I had a example on hand for you too haha. Sometimes it is used wrong.
yeeah its not the prettiest but sometimes you gotta make do
Do you know whats going on with https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:RecipeLookup ?
If it will not be used in the future, why not protect the page from future edits by admins and/or simply remove it? ^^
@fervent saffron
probably because there are still (old) pages that use recipelookup
so you cant really remove it or else the recipes would just disappear
but well i have no idea either, im not the ones in charge
well yea true, yea I'll use this to replace some with the new template
@quartz bear Shouldn't that be done by an admin? I wouldn't want to play around with big mass edits on a template, not sure if I can also break something with this action.
haha I know, still I am not very good with templates. I would rather leave that somebody who also knows how to build them.
Conflicting information:
The magazine no longer allows ability to collect medicinal herbs
Correct with bad formatting is better than incorrect with impeccable formatting
As much as we talk about stylization here, having the correct information is like 75% of what a wiki needs to do, like 20% of the remaining is easily navigating to pages lol. The last 5% is stylization
Hi guys, I've recently made a account on the wiki to attempt to help out with some articles and stuff. However, I've never done anything on a wiki before. Is there anywhere that would help me get started with making new articles with formatting and what not?
As I was saying just a moment ago, I wouldn't worry a terrible amount about how to format a page. But if you are: here is a link to the style guide https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Style_guide
What Alluseri sent will be things that need to get done. I've also found https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys 's planned section useful for finding work.
You can also check off items on my personal page: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Thing_II if you want. I haven't touched any of those in some time 😦
Thank you guys, I'll take a look and see what I can do, would it be okay if I have any questions regarding the wiki and bug you guys occasionally if I'm stuck on something?
Of course. Any editor is welcome to ask here 🙂
I've been playing PZ since like. 2014 and it was about time to actually help out some LOL, especially with the new update and all.
New update and new players galore. Definitely a lot to be done
Sounds like it. and that's awfully tragic, I heard that the switch between the builds murders folks computers with the graphics and all lol.
Absolutely agree here. I had to remind many community admins or editors over and over again. They often tried to plan way to big before just adding some useful information already. So even if a item page just has a list of pin points like
"- can be used as...
- can not be repaired
- is useful for..."
it is already more useful than any empty/undone but nice looking page.
Do the IDs all match between the two templates? I thought there were some differences but I've only looked at them a bit & might be wrong
Unsure if that'd even be a problem for what you're talking abt, just figured worth asking
Yeah
Okeydoke, wanted to make sure you were aware of that possibility (like I said, wasn't even sure that was the case)
Hey welcome, some advice from me is also to start small. Like seen here https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Editing_for_beginners
I recommend for example adding, editing or just doing small corrections to get a feel for it. And to have absolutely no fear of breaking something. It's like we all see your edits anyways and can do corrections, improvements afterwards or even undo it if you created a monster ;P . I mean no pressure, just so you know we are all here for you too. We can also just check over some of your edits if you are unsure and need direct guidance.
As much as I love editing wikis for years now, dig deep into spreadsheets, upload images/icons to improve pages...I still can't get over how much templates annoy me when I can't understand how they work sometimes and am very glad to have other editors around that can give me a hand too or tell the one missing peace to understand it. 😉
lol not me this time! I haven't broke the template! 😄
any thoughts on Garden Saw? create a identical page for it like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Saw or even redirect to saw page? since there are no known differences to each other, or did I miss something?
Thank you for your advice! I’m excited to start fiddling around and seeing what I can do. Glad to be on board with you guys
done! problem solved! never have to go back to it! 😂
are you asking for all possible keys of a key/value pair from items from the .txt in game data? because I have a half-finished import script that pulls from it to apply values to the infoboxes and I can share the list. IMO most of them are not relevant
😄
hey on the health page (https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Health) I noticed that normal and weak stomach were flipped around
From what I read, the former took up too much space on a single page, thus the splitting into different templates. The descriptions may have contributed to that, which is unfortunate bc I think they added a lot to some recipes
I wasn't around for that so that explanation may be inaccurate or incomplete, but that's the reason as far as I know
(but yeah, the empty recipe column in the new one is kind of bleh)
btw
Crafting also lacks a lot of the "recipes" that were in Recipelookup
like filling containers with water
so that kinda deletion inevitably has to be done manually
Not off the top of my head, but I'm forgetful
i checked the code, am i reading this wrong?
i probably am lol
you're reading it right, weak stomach is bugged and does the opposite of what it's supposed to
(wtfrick)
are we not able to play with the css on wikis? forgive my ignorance I have never edited one but am considering
it's strange if I manually remove the extra added <td> it looks OK to me unlike your screenshot that looks like it has additional spacing somewhere
can we see the code that generates the HTML for the table?
no worries I just glanced over the mediawiki implementation of templates, basic understanding but not sure where the HTML is generated from templates
basically, I am curious how the extra <td> appears on your page
ohh I see, thanks
strangely it adds 4 additional <p><br></p> with ing=5 (as you mentioned) 🤔
@quartz bear ur problems have been solved
i edited a small part of the crafting/core it should work with matching ingredient numbers
those newlines that were in between cells that turn out to be blank, turned into <p><br></p> because theyre newlines lmao
when you set the ing to a higher number the leftover <br>s (from newlines) would just migrate to that empty cell which is why it "worked"
and fetching the /core from other headers such as crafting carpentry also worked because everything is within a switch so all the leftover newlines are ignored

ive basically added <!-- --> between all the cells so that newlines wouldnt make it into the article
Wow that happens quick
Yeah I was not expecting it to be deleted that quick lol
lol
Good night!
Goodnight 😴
gosh
why did they make all tables with one barline ?? 😭 no regard for compatibility with other templates
@quartz bear I think it is better to go mostly with the crafting one https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Crafting_header
and manually make a spreadsheet if needed for something special on pages, like when it's not involve crafting for example.
Also because what is listed on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Community_portal/Priority_issues
"Recipe Lookup documentation reached maximum templates per article, any more and the template crashes. Needs to be fixed."
So I wouldn't recommend going back adding more to the lookup page.

I assume that i need some kind of proof here if i want to tell someone about changing/adding info?
Cause i figured out that you can use snow shovel to dig furrows
But i did not get any screenshot
Nvm, i'm just gonna spawn snow shovel anyway
so as you guys see, you can dig furrows with snow shovel
it should be added to wiki
WHAT
LOL
oh wait
i think with weak stomach
you just almost always get sick from bad food
but for less time
a
b
The nightstick seems to be in the long blunt category
The game file says its short blunt
it is a short blunt
Its that stick/baton police uses
weak stomach makes it a 100% chance to get sick from rotten food
Are the effects worse?
When I casually play I just avoid bad foods like the plague, so I've never even been sick and I've never looked into it for wiki purposes
Can someone check if the raccoon hat is obtainable without spawning it in? Have never seen one and I'm fairly certain it's an unimplemented item
No entries in the distribution tables or in clothing.xml. Unless there's some other way to check that I'm unaware of, you're right
Addition for Life_and_Living_TV : Day 8 (07/16) 6:00PM is Carpentry. I don't know if Carpentry was on at 12:00pm on day 8, I don't think I got xp for that.
trust me i have difficulty finding it too. according to rumors they spawn on zombies in spiffo burger chain or spiffoland in louisville. they dont spawn in any container
Its even more agonizing as a raccoon
Hmm
I'll have to do a hunt for one then
I like to go for a redneck like, prepper look so it's a must have for me
ooh spiffo hat, thought you meant the fursuit
"As a racoon"
I checked the file that defines zombies' clothing and didn't see it referenced, does anyone know if there's another way ?
Unsure why you replied to one of my messages, I'm assuming accidentally since it seems to have been deleted
Yuh it was lol
But while I'm here, it was three days ago let them live dang
Okay omar lol
Anyone going to change the speed stats for weapons in pz? as of right now it shows the recovery stat which doesn’t give an accurate representation of how fast some weapons are
how do i get thread
rip up clothes or find it
Thread can be found in sheds, stores and some vehicles. ```
i ripped up 100 clothes at lest in zombie horde not one
Sounds like you may be using mods.
It's based on your tailoring level
yea im using some mods

I found "Seeding Broccoli" through foraging in the current build, Vegetation area, with level 8 foraging. According to the wiki it is unobtainable. (1 mod, Antibodies, current version- shouldn't be related) - annoyingly it does not give seeds, unless i missed something with it.
A lot of brain work here, my brain hurts!
Sorry, anyone else have problems with the wiki?
pobre tomate
perfect
this will help with editing the wiki cuz more info
gimme a sec to edit and test more in debug mode
interesting
christ there are so many more item categories in foraging now
gonna keep working on it
I have a question about the food section of the wiki. It shows how many minutes until a food is cooked or burnt. At what temperature is this assuming?
I dont think temp matters, just make sure heat source is on. Use the timer or risk burning down your entire base. (happened to me).
So I can cook food at any temperature and it’ll always finish at the same time?
try with wood maybe
What heat source were you using? The Antique Oven doesn't have an open flame, so it won't burn your house down
Same with the fireplace apparently, "Doesn't cause fire spread"
🤷♂️
it was a microwave. Dont remember what I was cooking, walked away for about an hour (in game time). Got distracted doing other things. Went back into my base and the entire kitchen was in flames. I had no fire extinguisher either.
even though Marksman is removed (originally an unique for Police Officers), the devs still included a few bonuses to foraging into the trait
should i still list it?
I checked all the vhs lua to see if new exp tapes were added.
These are currently the non-obvious exp tapes that exist in the game:
Retail:
Dead Wrong (AIM+1 REL+1)
Mother's Boy (SBA+1)
Z-Squad (MTL+1, MEC+1)
Home:
Stock cars (MEC+1)
Granny Nani (TAI+6)
Tailoring 101 (TAI+6)
Nof Vid (MTL+8)
No 9 (MTL+9)
Muldraugh AV Club (ELC+6)
TV Repair (ELC+6)
RMFA (DOC+6)
Combat Wound Management (DOC+7)
Grady V King (LFT+1)
Tree Planting Guide (FRM+6)
Matchematical Quadratics and Algebraic Configurations (BUA+1)
Basic Gun Handling (Officer Use Only) (AIM+8, REL+8)
Any idea what SBA or BUA could be?
DO NOT CLICK THAT
do u have 2FA?
I don't think they were serious y'all lol
you must be hacked to say that
Reason: Don't post links like that.
Maybe ask in #old_techsupport.
Even though it didn't work, I don't think you should try and ping everybody on a server with thousands of people.
It's more that pinging everybody won't work since they've disabled it. Also this channel is just for editing the pzwiki.
Best you can do is just wait for somebody to help you with the issue on tech support. Or ask on other platforms like steam discussions, reddit, tis forums
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Occupation
The "Removed/Future Occupations" section has an ambiguous title. Will the blacksmith occupation be added, or was it removed?
not into editing wikis, just thought i would drop this suggestion
It was removed, but it may also be added back in the future
It more than likely will be added back in the future, if the last few Thursdoids regarding crafting are anything to believe
wouldn't it make more sense for this to be a disambiguation page since there is also the sawed off double barrel?
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Sawn_Off_Shotgun&redirect=no
The page in question
got here by searching for sawed off shotgun
some info about foraging still inaccurate in a way
like how the cockroach u can find without any foraging skill from what i know of
there probably should be like a better version of this or soemthing
like a new table of some sorts, that shows where u can find these commonly and such
off topic too : Also need to be disgusting
You mean disguising? Also keep the channel on topic please, it's solely for editing the wiki
Hey, found a tiny problem in the wiki. On https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Items/Food, milk isn't ladled as perishable, probably because none of the other things in the drinks section are perishable.
Also, yoghurt is labeled as being negatively perishable, on the same page.
Thanks! Currently looking through all the foods for updates. I'll fix it.
you can actually refill a water dispenser. i just did from a water bottle with non-tainted water.
There's also the fact that the actual water dispenser page has that info correctly.
SBA = short blade.
(sorry for replying to an ancient post but thanks for looking this info up)
Do bags actually reduce attack speed when held in secondary? The wiki says they do but from the code and experience this doesn’t seem to be the cadet
could be outdated. Build 41 was a big update. Most of the wiki isn't up-to-date yet
Alright. Don’t want to automatically write it off though, do you have any recommendations for where I should check for that kind of thing in the code? (Besides the backpack code directly)
That makes sense. No worries!
BUA would probably be short blunt then, not sure what that has to do with maths though
honestly, I've got no idea, sorry. Probably baked in somewhere in Java.
Got it, thanks anyways
A lot of that stuff has been tweaked and such in the build updates, and there's a fair amount of flux with game mechanics.
Short Blunt for BUA is all I could think of too. Unless Strength is weirdly called ‘burden’ somewhere or something like that?
SBA is definitely correct I found that out in game- Mother’s Boy is a parody of Psycho so it’s a pretty neat reference
From ISRadioInteractions.lua, explains all the skill codes from broadcasts/VHS
I’ve got a feeling the one called “dad’s tape do not touch” isn’t about fatherhood so maths and blunt weapons could fit right enough
quick fact check: on the nutrition page it says you can "use weight scales in hospital to check your nutrition" is this outdated, found a scale and it doesnt work, the furniture wiki also says its "non functional"
Heads up, I made a change to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Debug_mode#Lua_debugger thinking it would submit it for approval but I guess not
ah roger will continue butchering this page with bad grammar and horrible wording
https://williamvenner.github.io/pz-rm-explorer/
just wasted half a day doing this cursed shite i hope yall enjoy xxx
this shit actually just runs the recorded_media.lua file and grabs the data out of the global RecMedia table
its so cursed
i did use a bit of regex for parsing the language file though

all my repos gone
i live for regex
if u ever need some stupid regex made ill do it
just ping me i froth at the mouth for that shit
that sounds akin to that regex that can detect prime numbers
not the hero we deserved
Isn't this getting even numbers ?
Yes I'm lurking no I'm not ashamed
I'm not going back to intro cs, you can't make me
I meant computer science

4 - KOROSE
Looks good. I'm assuming this is replacing the current RecipeLookup?
(have been out of the PZ world for a few months)
Sounds like an important first step
There were a few reasons for switching to the new crafting template. The biggest, was because I kept running into a "Template include size is too large" error. Stopping anything from being displayed, making it hard to use it as a lookup...
Seems the Documentation template was at fault. Maybe running every template twice?
But also, 'trying' to make it look neater, specifically when multiple items can be used.
Before
After
The empty columns are pretty disgusting, but 🤷♂️
How you've done it using <br> would still work. May not be as tight, but it's functional
the m#_# parameters replace the i#, f# and q# for the same number. And all just runs in a line. Similar to how it is on yours, except without the <br>
| m1_2 = Hunting Knife
| m1_3 = Meat Cleaver
| m1_4 = Stone Knife
| m1_5 = Machete```
another thing is the image size... that gets defined manually too.
Part of recipe
needs better explanation
the occupation/trait goes there too
what do you mean?
the text?
I prefer without. Makes it more compact. Hovering also shows the name
but not a big deal either way.
Regarding issue #1, can you provide any further context on it? Seems standard that the wiki would just replace angle brackets with the corresponding HTML entities for safety/display, so I don't see the issue (unless the "<" is what's being rendered?)
Is the wiki down?
Sure is.
Yep, Cloudflare SSL issues, Kirrus is on it
Is it okay if I change the text in door from As the name suggests, the locked door is locked. You cannot open it from the outside unless you have a house key for the building or to break the door down. It can be opened from the inside, unlocking it from the outside. to As the name suggests, the locked door is locked. You cannot open it from the outside unless you have a house key for the building or if you break the door down. It can be opened from the inside, which will unlock it.?
Alright
Is it okay if I go around some pages and make small changes like that for clarity or to fix typos/whatever?
I feel like I'm stepping on toes if I do that, but idk
I have never really done any wiki stuff before so I'm not sure what is usually seen as acceptable etc
Alright I'll do some small edits here and there when I notice stuff that irks me then, thanks
No complaints. Looks good. The gap for empty ingredients isn't a big deal. I think you're good to go.
You've done some awesome work
It does eventually need to be changed to a RecipeLookup style template (i.e. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Crafting_cooking), purely for future time saving. For when recipes inevitably change. They can be updated in a single place, instead of finding every single page and changing manually.
But that's something that I'm guessing will be done slowly over the years.
Yeah, it'd be done manually, as a "while I'm editing this page, I'll also change that"
Door damage and tree damage for the stone axe listed on the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Weapons page is erroneously swapped
source:
- even the wiki code entry for the stone axe https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Stone_Axe has them at: TreeDamage = 10; DoorDamage = 15
- personal in-game testing
fixed, thanks
instigated by this https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/rjdlb0/comment/hp2xrit/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3. I'd like to ask how the maintenance formula for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Crafted_Spear was made? is there a unique formula that the crafted spear uses for durability? Or is the formula missing a "/2".
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Skills#Combat also seems to agree with the reddit comment's formula that the max durability chance a weapon has is N+14. Whereas the crafted spear formula on the page implies a max extra durability chance of N+25
No idea where that formula came from. The only formula I'm aware of for durability loss is: 1 in (ConditionLowerChanceOneIn + maintenance x 2)
Since the wiki can be edited by anyone, there's no easy way to know where it came from. If it's wrong, feel free to change it.
The only unique formula I'm aware of for Crafted Spear, is in the crafting recipe, defining the max durability. Which is dependant on the carpentry skill.
-- also lower the used knife condition
function Recipe.OnCreate.CreateSpear(items, result, player, selectedItem)
local conditionMax = 2 + player:getPerkLevel(Perks.Woodwork);
conditionMax = ZombRand(conditionMax, conditionMax + 2);
if conditionMax > result:getConditionMax() then
conditionMax = result:getConditionMax();
end
if conditionMax < 2 then
conditionMax = 2;
end
result:setCondition(conditionMax)
for i=0,items:size() - 1 do
if instanceof (items:get(i), "HandWeapon") and items:get(i):getCategories():contains("SmallBlade") then
items:get(i):setCondition(items:get(i):getCondition() - 1);
end
if items:get(i):getType() == "SharpedStone" and ZombRand(3) == 0 then
player:getInventory():Remove(items:get(i))
end
end
end```
I'd say it's likely they've missed dividing by 2 the second time.
Should be: 1 in (2 + (MaintenanceLevel + (WeaponLevel/2))/2) x 2) according to that comment.
Is WeaponLevel the skill in that weapon-type? i.e. "Spear"
weaponlevel is skill level, yes. I've also checked the .class files referred to in the comment and it seems to check out, although I'm not sure if there are specific conditions for other weapons or if that's a generalized maintenance formula applicable to all melee weapons.
i'm not sure if its ok to put .class file info on the wiki, although whoever put into on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Skills#Combat seems to agree. based on
Weapon proficiency decreases the chance of weapons breaking equivalent to a maintenance skill of half its level. A level 10 weapon proficiency means the maintenance skill for that weapon type is effectively increased by 5. The effective level of the maintenance skill is first divided by two, then rounded down, then multiplied by two and finally added to the N from the (1 in N) odds of lowering a weapon's condition. This means that the effective maintenance level increases its power only on even level-ups and that the maximum bonus from maintenance and weapons proficiencies is N+14.
A more accurate formula would then be "1 in 2 + int(int(Maintenance level + (weapon level/2))/2)*2" for all weapons. If in the interest of accuracy, the "int"s make sure that only weapon levels 4 and 8 actually affect weapon durability, and only even level ups of maintenance affect weapon durability. hence a maximum of 14 extra durability.
Imma take a guess that it might have been this guy #pzwiki_editing message that added that info on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Skills#Combat
Edit: yeah it was him. So 2 possible sources that have looked at the class files seem to agree (the reddit and wiki one)
That's enough evidence for me to justify changing it.
My only concern is that the entire formula may be too advanced for your average user, when considering including it on every weapon page. Considering your average person probably comes to the wiki for quick facts. They just want to know, "is this weapon's durability better than that weapon's?" Therefore, the main piece of information people would be after here is: ConditionLowerChanceOneIn
So, for each weapon page, simplifying the formula to 1 in (ConditionLowerChanceOneIn + MaintenanceMod x 2), and adding an abbreviation or linking to the durability page (which is bare currently) with the full formula and explanation.
Interested to know if others agree
Feel free to make those changes. Otherwise I'll look at doing it over the weekend.
This page now needs some serious love: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Durability
It wouldn't fit. The calculation uses the maintenance and weapon skills.
Might be able to get it in a calculation template. If we give a few examples showing what the chance will be with specific skill levels
Works beautifully. Thanks
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Durability_weapon
Let me know what you think of formatting and example skill levels I used.
On the wiki it says it is possible extra ports might not be needed for a server anymore, has that been conformed or is the wiki incorrect and needs to be changed?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Dedicated_Server#Forwarding_Required_Ports
Is the thick/thin skinned thing doing nothing still true as mentioned by that guy? Can’t see it on the wiki any more and have no idea where the trait info is in the class files 🤔
okay so I'd imagine this is a mistake unless I cannot comprehend what it's implying (hence my username)
what do you not understand about it? (the wiki saying weak stomach makes food illness last shorter?)
yes
(Weak Stomach multiplies the severity of Food Illness by 2, but also makes it last shorter, doesnt apply to tainted water)
ProjectZomboid > zombie > characters > BodyDamage > BodyDamage
you should find something there about Thick/Thin Skinned
ah, I've just checked what the trait does and now I feel dumb, sorry
oo thanks man I'll have a look
Would there be any pages that need to be written out? i've got nothing better to do, so if given a list of pages i'm sure i could whip something up in the endless spare time i have now that i'm on holidays
Any templates for articles that need to be followed or?
Appreciate it
I just realised the wiki is in HTML. the single most painful 'code' language, if you can even call it that, but oh well xD
at least we can use inputbox, which makes it slightly easier
spain without the s
i havent done markdown/html in soooo long lmfao
pulled a markdown template, currently fixing it up bit by bit
too lazy to write the whole thing from scratch, so am using templates from other pages
fixed 👌
soon™️
shit, forgot to save the page, better do that rq xD
again, i blame the template

I'm using the trunk vehicle part page as a template, which means after i do the glovebox i can use this page as template to update the trunk page
xD

fix it then
ah
the game or?
Yeah feels, PZ doesnt like cooperating with my PC, so i usually play on my gaming laptop, but since thats in the shop being repaired, stuck with shitty notebook for now to play PZ, and boy it sucks
coming from like, 300fps on 16x pop to 1fps on 2x pop is not fun lmfao
thankfully my gaming laptop should be done in like 2 weeks, but still cant figure out why PZ hates my rig but oh well
ouch xD
in what way?
xD
I never had issue with mine lol
yes but you're not running essentially server level components
My computer is too fast for the game so it just returns errors and crashes

how is my potato having less problem lul
BECAUSE MY RIG TOO FAST
PZ ENGINE CANT KEEP UP

also your rig isnt a potato xD
anyway
i am done for now, Markdown giving me brain tumors
hm?
I've been working on re-organising and cataloguing all the files, specifically item icons.
The new category for files/images is: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:File
That's broken down further into subcategories, e.g. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Item-Food_File
Please check there before uploading a new icon. If it's not there, upload a new file, adding the appropriate category, and following these naming conventions: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Style_guide#File_uploads
There is also a template for item icons. The idea is that you just need to know the item's name and not going looking through the scripts finding the icon name. It's fairly empty currently, but I'll be adding to it in the future. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Img_item
I've found so many duplicates dating back to 2011. In some cases, there were 5+ files of the same icon
Certainly!
I wasn't entirely sure how I was going to do it. Figured it'd be a future problem to worry about
A bot to take the item ID, icon name and display name from the scripts and puts them in the right formats would be ideal.
is ther any one looking for friends
Any objections to copying the first three rows of the weapon proficiency table and the middle four rows of the Strength effect table from Skills (https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Skills) into Weapons (https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Weapons)? Doing some statistical analysis on PZ's weapons; having all the needed data for calculating final damage/knockdown chance/critical hit chance would be a blessing.
dunno when your evening is, so i'm going off my timezone, here's your reminder @quartz bear
i see lol
unfortunately, it's the painful split
it could be redesigned. I can't remember why it was done that way
it does
It's not really used anywhere yet
I take that back. It's used in the clothing infobox, which is used on nearly every clothing page
We can just rollback if it does
No reason. /name just changes the tooltip.
The important thing is making everything before the = the same between each of the 3 sub templates.
so item=ShotgunShellsBox will show the right image, link and tooltip/name
in /name yes
oh, yes
it uses
That was quick
awesome stuff
no, looks good
I'm guessing you were able to remove duplicates?
I'm going to see an issue with the pages with multiple items on a single page. e.g. Poultice or Medicinal Herbs
There shouldn't many pages like that, so not a hard manual fix
oh, right. that'll be fine then
yeah
are you able to create "test page". Adding each line into the template, in a list?
so we can review and manually adjust where needed
yeah
if you're able to keep a list of them, that would be ideal
heat source is one that'd be removed anyway. As this is only intended for item icons
I think it's pretty good. I haven't noticed any 'major' issues.
There are some missing files, but that's my fault, during my recent purge of duplicate files. Other than that, I've only noticed the hash links causing issues in the name.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox_3
I've substituted the 'link' with the 'name'
some dead links in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Planned_features
6, 9, 10, 17, 18, 20, 22, 28, 31, 32, 33
Those dead links seem to be very old ~2011, so may no longer be relevant.
I'll take a look through them and update
Thanks
Fuck it, I'ma work on polishing some of the location pages.
It really bothers me how the town pages each have a list of locations but it isn't in alphabetic order.
I'ma fix those up
@digital helm Had an idea that might improve the pages for the towns. Adding shopping district, suburbs, outskirts etc categories to the businesses and landmarks lists to make it less vague.
Obviously the stuff in those categories aren't right, still gotta organize that part
Good idea
I'm also doing a bunch of changes to the Louisville page since quite a few notable locations are missing from it. Although I'm not going to add all the businesses there like we do with the main towns since it'd just massively clutter up the page and be a pain in the ass to research.
definitely agree
the same could probably go for some of the other towns. Once they're more unique, with NPC stories, etc.
Not perfect, probably missed several important landmarks but it'll do for now.
I also got rid of the teaser screenshots since they aren't really needed anymore due to Louisville being out already.
very good. I just fixed up the section headings. use 2 equals signs ==
the page heading uses 1 =, then each section should use 2 ==, then 3 ===, etc.
It's a html thing
Probably gonna start sticking to location pages for a while tbh. Doesn't feel as tedious for me as the item pages do.
Pretty much why I'm focusing on clean-up for now
Doing items quickly becomes mundane
That and much of the wiki is in dire need of updating.
I sometimes look at the old pages I've made and think how garbage it looks.
I think I'd have to just include the notable/important locations now actually. Cause look at how many fucking businesses there are for Riverside. This isn't even all of em. I probably left out a half dozen.
Too damn cluttered
you know what you can do?
Make a link to an entirely new page that shows all of em?
add this to the top of the list <div style="column-count:3;-moz-column-count:3;-webkit-column-count:3">
then </div> to the bottom
change the 3 to 2, 4, etc. whatever is needed. splits into columns
Fuck yeah that definitely will work.
But I'm thinking eventually for Louisville if I ever get around to it, I'd just make a link to a new page that lists all of the busineses.
Cause even with this column thing, it's just too many for Louisville.
yeah, unless the page gets split into districts?
like the original map
There may only be handful like that, so not sure if worth accounting for it... but I have no idea how much work is involved
I'm kinda hoping I can get a mix of these two template types though if possible? First pic is from Rosewood page, 2nd is from West Point page. I do like how the 2nd one has coords for the location and the business type, helpful for businesses with a name that's vague and people don't know what kinda loot it has. Basically I want that but with the rows/colums
I'm assuming what you're after is to have the tables in columns? I feel like that might look a bit weird, and be incredibly squashed on a phone (something the wiki already doesn't have any support for)
Whenever I'm doing the prison page, I gotta remember that it's now called Kentucky State Prison
Damn. Should I leave the town pages that have those templates alone then?
Or should I just replace all of it with the column thing I'm using now, for consistency? Downside being that it doesn't have the coordinates.
I'm conflicted
Like Alluseri said, is everything looking squashed on a phone really that bad?
if you can just view in desktop mode
Yeah, that's why I'm trying to figure out whether or not we keep the column idea or just use this coord idea
I can think of a possible solution though.
Eh, March Ridge?
Not sure
WP and Muldraugh are like that too though
If we can't figure out a solution, my idea was to just do that idea we had before and just only include the important landmarks but use that template.
But we also make a link to a seperate page that lists all the businesses and landmark in that town.
When I tried to merge both the column and that template, it didn't really work for me. Unless I did a fuck up or something, not all of them appeared on the page and some were cut-off.
not sure about the best way to use the columns. Things either look weird or get too complicated
I think just fuck it, we use this template but only include the unique/notable places.
Can I just suggest doing it like this
* Buffet (<span class="plainlinks">10629x9441</span>)
* Burgers (<span class="plainlinks">10608x9475</span>)

Yeah that could work actually
I just don't like the idea of deleting someone's work. They've had to manually get each of those coords
That's also why I was hesitant
I'm not going to do the specific food & drink, services categories though.
I'd just do the downtown, suburbs, outskirts etc.
Unless ya think the specific categories are a better idea
since you'd be getting rid of the "type", having the sections more specific might be better
All of this is why I've stayed far away from overhauling the Knox Country page. It's currently just POIs.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Knox_Country
I'll get around to overhauling that page when I can
Making columns, categories, making sure all got coords etc
Some town pics are outdated too.
Rosewood and Riverside are since Rosewood got the drive-in and Riverside got that small shopping center.
I just don't want to add to that page. General POIs I feel should be kept to the dedicated town pages
Major ones, yes. But do we need to specify that it has a gas station?
I feel like if it's something that's unique or some sort of major asset.
Like WP's gun shop.
exactly
I forgot I did that page
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Rosewood_Drive-In
Yeah
I think it's still called the Rosewood Penitentiary in the town description ingame though?
Here's an examples from DayZ and The Forest
https://dayz.fandom.com/wiki/Chernarus
https://theforest.fandom.com/wiki/Peninsula
They're more about the lore
So you want Knox Country page to be more lore rather than specific buildings etc?
Still have each of the towns and major POIs. But the rest I feel should stick to those town pages
If ya want lore with it, we could add it as a category at the bottom
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Knox_Event Merge the knox event page with it?
Also this page on the bottom of the towns pages? I think what we should do is change that up a bit.
Make a category for towns you can spawn at, significant towns/cities that you can't spawn at.
Rather than them all just being next to the knox country tab.
Ya think I should add a gallery to the knox country page? Show off some unique areas outside of towns.
I think it needs to change, but not sure. I think "spawnable" needs to be added to the infobox though.
Something to think about
While I'm cleaning up the knox country page though
I'm definitely changing where the towns are on the page.
Cause I really don't think Ekron should be at the top of the page.
It's not as significant as towns you can actually spawn at and Louisville.
Looks good.
I've been playing with Turbo's ItemZed today and found it can extract this info and a lot more directly from the script files.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox_2
Which solves the issue we had with items that aren't used in crafting recipes
Definitely. Probably just put in alphabetical order
Issue with putting it alphabetically is that Dixie and Ekron are going to be at the top of the page, before any of the important towns.
I'd suggest prioritizing the spawn towns?
Yeah, that's what I think.
Spawn towns first - Louisville - Valley Station - March Ridge, small towns etc
agreed
How many cells is the map currently as well?
Top of the page says it was 8 as of build 40, but since Louisville is added
Cells for the entire map? Probably around 1000 😄
that's just referring to Muldraugh
AHHH
it's saying that's 8 cells
right
Ya want me to remove that part from the page then?
Maybe move it to here and the Muldraugh page
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Knox_County
I'll do it, since you're probably deep into the Knox Country page
yeah cheers
I'm definitely going to add a bit more about the lore to the top part of the knox country page though.
Since it doesn't really say much.
@digital helm How do I prevent it from doing this? It's annoying since I just want 2 rows with 3 in em rather than this.
that's weird... I haven't seen that before.
Yeah, I didn't mess around with the text.
Dunno why it's doing it
Also do you want a lore category on the page or just a short and brief description at the top?
I dunno, it's your call really.
Brief description or lore at the bottom of the page I guess.
I'd say brief but slip in a link to the knox event wiki page.
since there's not a whole lot of lore at the moment, just keep it brief
maybe also slip a link to the knox infection page https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Knox_Infection
fair chunk of lore there too
After the latest blog, seems the NPC pages are going to be fun to do...
not sure how that'll go with these dynamic events
Yeah, I'm just making it so the gallery features some unique-ish map locations outside of the towns.
