This category contains all buildings that can be constructed
Maybe buildables?
that first part is off to me 😅
a bit awkward sounding
Was tired 😄 Feel free to correct I already realized how inconsistent all categories descriptions are – initially wanted to rephrase https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Items to be more concise but gave up
i'm not big on 'buildable' (sounds awkward as you say) but i'm not sure the word 'building' can even mean that
so buildable would be preferable imo
Nothing is really great. But buildable seems the best to me
I kinda think technically we should rename https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Tiles to Furniture eventually? Though Amphora is both after picked up (I don't mind it being in both actually)
Building as in verb for the menu (to build) create buildables (buildable elements), so I guess technically correct 😄
Tiles was intended to be a parent category, like items. Where it includes things that aren't furniture, like trees or grass
Especially since we have https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Traversables
let me change it to Buildables then
I just realized, TF2 wiki also suffers the same with WantedPages https://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/index.php?title=Special:WantedPages&limit=500&offset=0
Most are language ones, so not really something to do, except actually creating thousands of pages sadly 😄
Which I silently hope for to be automated once we settle all the scripts and translations will be there 🤞
The only thing I thought about is that I think FANDOM only lists 1000 of the most linked pages, so the page actually loads (rigtht now I bet it puts too much load to actually load, so cloudflare blocks it; something we could ask Kirrus about I think)
The following data is cached, and was last updated 09:02, 22 April 2025. A maximum of 1,000 results are available in the cache.
https://cyberpunk.fandom.com/wiki/Special:WantedPages?limit=500&offset=0
and TF2 wiki caps at 10000 pages too https://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/index.php?title=Special:WantedPages&limit=500&offset=9500
I think last time it worked, we had 20k+ too
and yeah, it's cached too
The following data is cached, and was last updated 06:13, 23 April 2025. A maximum of 10,000 results are available in the cache.
So probably a setting that has to be enabled in MediaWiki
We could technically use a bot to check all links on all pages to see if their target page exists.
ah, you mean as an alternative to WantedPages?
To see which English pages are wanted?
Yeah, then generate a list for each language if we wanted.
It's something we could do. But not something I'd be in a hurry to do
Sorry if anyone was trying to use the B42map site before, was having a little.. issues with some permissions somewhere else and did some updates and a restart. Wasn't till after I restarted I realized I forgot the site was in use xD
Still thinking about this. Is this essentially just the Construction category? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Construction
We had the "Crafting" and "Construction" categories. "Crafting" for the Crafting menu and "Construction" for the Carpentry and Metalwork menus, which are now just the Building menu.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Crafting
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Buildables
Should it then also be a subcategory of Game mechanics? Along with "Tiles"? Since they're also all tiles?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Game_mechanics
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Tiles
think we could actually replace Tiles with Furniture (I think I said that?) other than that yeah, seems Construction and Crafting are Buildables now pretty much, not sure what should we choose? And yeah, it's something I'd like to put more effort to too, as so far it was just a quick "let's do something about" 🙂
Honestly, I think tiles works better as a parent category. Like how we have items. Tiles we can have furntiure as a subcategory. Since it also includes things that aren't furniture, like crops and other vegetation, walls, floor, etc.
I'll add a merge notice to construction
although buildings like forge consist of multiple tiles… Though I guess it's kinda not a problem I guess?
it's similar how we treat multi-tile furniture
I actually just got to look at the page, seems nice, the version is 41.78.16 though?
Also minor nit is that I think item names could be sentence case (though it's extra work sadly to format them like that), and you can use – instead of - (harder to type though without additional aids).
May a link to room definitions could be made, but currently that page is split into many smaller ones.
they're the same symbol
yeah still 41.78.16 - haven't checked if anything's changed
like the story could be spawning corkscrews now
so I'm not 100% it's up to date with B42
I'd work on more today but I got an assessment tomorrow so that's not happening
I think that Tiles should belong to Project Zomboid (same as items and fluids), I'll make buildables a subcategory and move Construction from there (I assume we keep the Buildables name?)
are tiles consider as an entite ?
I started renaming "Construction" to "Buildables", but now I'm having a second though; which one should we use? There's also this https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbox_construction
Would be nice to decide on these too, as well as Boonie Hat, as maybe I'll focus on the remaining pages to merge
Also, are we going to retire https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Archived_pages in favor of just https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Outdated_articles ? If so, I can start doing that tomorrow or so
If we want it to be like Crafting then maybe we call it Building? (feels like we're going round in circles). So rather than it being "tiles" it's everything related to "Building", which is what Crafting is. It's not necessarily just items, it's everything related to the Crafting menu. Which is why it's in Game mechanics. So I think if it's called Building then we follow that same structure, and have it in Game mechanics? But also Tiles as a subcategory. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Crafting both may need a major rework
They're all technically entities. But only some tiles are in the entity scripts. The same as how some tiles are in the item scripts.
They have different meanings. Outdated means they need to be updated. Archived means they're an old feature that we want to preserve/archive.
that have impressed me
categories are generally plural, so "Buildings", but yeah, going circles indeed 😄
Maybe we should get back to the drawing board like in the old days of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Navigation_and_Categories 😄
oh sorry, meant Obsolete, my bad
The only thing is that in this context it's a verb, not a noun. So Buildings isn't right. Same as how you wouldn't have "Craftings" 😄
Personally, I like the sound of archived more than obsolete. Obsolete (created before my time) was items with the obsolete tag
so maybe we should go the other way around, and remove obsolete in favor of archived?
We also have this https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Removed_features
ah, makes sense lol. I always assumed you meant noun
I'm happy with that. Archival is kinda multipurpose
Especially since obsolete is actually Obsolete items https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Obsolete_items
and parent above is https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Removed_features 😄
btw, what are those circles on spawning map? They appear only on one Louisville's district, Muldraugh, Brandenburg and Ekron but not other towns
Could they be possibly Siren sound radius? Maybe once upon a time a static Siren noise?
I might be dumb, but it took me untill now to realize what this number means
@languid kayak did you even notice it?
oh true 😄
old calculator trick
but true, I did not. Feel free to put it on Easter eggs, I will add a note in phone numbers
though actually it should be 5318008 ?
we're missing these two (new) advert trailer ads btw (which is expected, as the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Advert_Trailer page was not updated to 42 yet)
Maybe someone tried to be subtle
And we are missing... All of the new independent and dependent business vans
a typo here; 991 instead of 911
@thin cloud for that, though probably not exactly your area ^
I've been digging into vehicles. So I'll get them updated.
@digital helm the Dash Bulldrivers have no names in them? Other vehicles seems to have it
Some have custom names, some just use the generic name
I wonder if that's intended or omission
Unintended is my guess. There's a a carModelName property. If that's defined, it'll use that vehicle's name as this vehicles name, if not, it'll get the translation of its own name.
Vehicles like StepVan_Cereal have a translation IGUI_VehicleNameStepVan_Cereal = "Cereal Delivery Chevalier Step Van", but in-game they're called Chevalier Step Van because it has "carModelName": "StepVan",
ISVehicleMechanics.lua
local carName = self.vehicle:getScript():getCarModelName() or self.vehicle:getScript():getName()
local name = getText("IGUI_VehicleName" .. carName);
if string.match(self.vehicle:getScript():getName(), "Burnt") then
local unburnt = string.gsub(self.vehicle:getScript():getName(), "Burnt", "")
if getTextOrNull("IGUI_VehicleName" .. unburnt) then
name = getText("IGUI_VehicleName" .. unburnt)
end
name = getText("IGUI_VehicleNameBurntCar", name);
end
is it 555-35683? Number's not really clear
I'd guess it is. But could also be 555-35663
so blurry 😩. ChatGPT isn't really helpful:
Looking at the texture you uploaded, the telephone number that appears written on the car is:
555-56683
Would you also like me to help you clean up or enhance the texture if needed?
You said:
are you 100% sure it's 56683 and not 35683 or 95663? First number is different
ChatGPT said:Good catch — let's slow down and look carefully.
From the texture you shared, the phone number appears multiple times on the sides and back of the truck. Inspecting it closely:
The number after "555-" starts with what looks like a 5 — not a 3 or a 9. Comparing the shape: It's wide at the top and bottom like a 5, not narrow like a 3. It's not curved and angular like a 9.So, I'm very confident it says:
➡️ 555-56683
Not 35683 or 95663.
still not conviced me TBF
In-game isn't any better either
Gotta be 555-356_3 that second last number isn't clear
I think so too
I think the fax is missing one "5" in here?
there's a differentr vehicle with fax on it, and it's 555
The vehicle models look so good in the list @digital helm
@digital helm there's a double entry in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox_4
just to make sure, fax is 555-3333?
Well worth the time spent I think
No double entry. Mobile and Moore. Caught me when I first saw it too
555-1111
OCR-A is a font issued in 1966 and first implemented in 1968. A special font was needed in the early days of computer optical character recognition, when there was a need for a font that could be recognized not only by the computers of that day, but also by humans. OCR-A uses simple, thick strokes to form recognizable characters.
The font is mon...
but why is it different than "1" above? Should be the same font
1111 was my initial idea, as 1/0 and electic
or is 1111 in italics? But why?
though electrics != electronics so yeah
They're mostly the same. The 5 is just as different
maybe just blurry, not sure why
Some post processing maybe
I see 9832
See the 6 in fax
9832, yeah
I have to switch to neightred neighour for zoom on my image browser, else It's hard to see 😄
but either way, that was the last vehicle
all at https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Phone_numbers#Phone_numbers – I just need to link models there
Then it's Flyers, newspapers and radio/TV 😄
btw
antialiasing = METHOD Scale method to use when anti-aliasing is enabled, valid choices are: nearest: nearest-neighbor, equivalent to antialiasing = no; box: nearest-neighbor on upscale, average in a box on downscale; bilinear: bilinear; bicubic: bicubic with the Catmull-Rom spline; mks13: Magic Kernel with the 2013 Sharp approximation (default); In general, the methods improve in quality and decrease in performance from top to bottom.
default was mks13 for me
Do any b41 wiki pages still exist?
I used the wiki for a crafting recipe about a week ago and it was mostly accurate but somewhat off, I’m just now realizing it was probably referencing b42
So I’m just wondering if it’s still a thing for b41
I have a question guys
If you play on another device and you joined your friends server, do you still have the same progress on your last computer
There's an oldid filled for most of the pages, you'd have to click the "For the Build 41 page, please see this old revision." link. Sometimes pages are not updated to Build 42 too, but in general it's a stopgap and may not be reliable. We basically focus most on the Build 42 content with hopes of the wiki being as updated once b41 will stop being relevant (mostly MP, as most mods carried over nowadays)
I think it's more #pz_b41_chat or #1019767076094758924 question I guess
Dang
Can you answer it?
Valid, just was wondering. Thank you
Put simply: yes
OH WAIT I THOUGHT THIS WAS B41 CHAT
Thanks
I can finally play the progress I have on another device
Just make sure you’re on the same steam account, and you input the same player username and password
Oh
IIRC it’s all stored server side in DB files
K
Wait
What if it's just steam account
I didn't put any information on the name and password
Well I’ve never seen smth like that so I’m not sure
I just realized:

Flyer
as well
Not only flyer in the file name
But also in the image
We sure it wasn't fixed?
I think not?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Adverts#Gnome_Sweet_Gnome in advert it's Gnome Sweet Gnome and telephone is 555-GNOMES
I think those are all numbers we have so far though
Funny how the numbers are translated in adverts

I think drilling down into telephone numbers is a LITTLE too far imo, they have absolutely not functionality in game and never will
aw, you let me down now 😦 Would be a fun easter egg to have a working phone with what Turbo's stuff like vending machine, unironically 😄
Still, how much useless it is, something I wanted to do and started as a way to put that advert icon 😄
Although with Knox telecom down, otoh, that'd be unrealistic, so just mod realm I guess
"Faalagorn's Working Telephones" mod when?

I assume 943 would be some in-game area code? Although Wikipedia says it's for a different regions https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Area_codes_678%2C_470%2C_and_943
Also, there's one number that puts (555) in paranthes, which makes sense kinda as it's omitted, but shouldn't (943) be put in paranethes instead?
Area codes 678, 470, and 943 are telephone area codes in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for the U.S. State of Georgia in the Atlanta metropolitan area. but yeah, Kentucky's area code is different https://www.allareacodes.com/area_code_listings_by_state.htm
okay, https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Phone_numbers is done 🎉 other than any possible mistakes or things that I might have missed.
btw @digital helm not sure if it's intended, but as I add phone numbers to individual pages, I realized that when type= is not filled, the whole general section that'd include a phone number is not displayed. I just add type to the pages I edit, but not sure if it's intended?
When adding type= where?
to infobox location
ah, got it
see https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Ben's_Cabin&oldid=834907 - it has a phone number, but it's not showing
Fixed
works too, also updated the page https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Ben's_Cabin
added numbers to respective pages, except for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Leafhill_Heights as I'm not sure whether we should change it to from suburb
@digital helm I noticed https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:WatchClassicBrown_Model.png is back to being unused, seems we don't have a page for a brown watch?
We do. Must've forgotten to add the model? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Wrist_Watch_-_Classic_(brown)
Base.WristWatch_Right_ClassicBrown
I renamed it
added https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Site_maintenance to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Site_maintenance
and @proud cobalt @digital helm what about https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_where_template_include_size_is_exceeded – should they be suppressed too? Can I do that for these pages?
as I think proper solution for these and suppressed pages may take a while?
would also be nice to settle these four https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_with_too_many_expensive_parser_function_calls but not sure what's the cause there
Other than that, I'd love to finish https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Articles_to_be_merged since it's not much
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Construction is one thing we discussed and would like to settle, maybe I'll decide on this unless someone has something to add there, other than that, I'll take another look at Camo Boonie Hat, Colored Party Hat and Hawaiian Shirt
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Water_containers I'm not sure – are these all tags still relevant? Rainwater collection factor I guess should be, the fire and microwave I think too? Not sure about the coffee maker?
Crossword Magazine and Wordsearch Magazine should be straightforward I guess.
Yeah they should be suppressed where appropriate
I havn't kept up with the construction/building/builable/entity iscussion what was the decision
For Category:Construction, I'm on board for having "Crafting" and "Building" as parallel categories. My question is where we go from there. Do we have buildables as a separate category under "Tiles"? Or do we have them all in "Building" and keep the subcategories like "Metalworking" and "Carpentry", and expand on them (which would contain the 'buildables')?
These water container properties are still relevant, but they're a bit different now. I think they're tags now instead of a key-value. I was thinking of how to best fit these into the fluid container list, since these are specific to water.
I suspect we may want a "Building" page eventually too. Similar to the "Crafting" page, although due to the huge number of recipes now, we may want to rethink how these are displayed. Maybe just have list of recipes? Something to look into
Nearly finished the vehicle list https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox_4
Still need to add some things like glove box capacity
Considered adding all variants since they each have their own id, but there's a lot of them. https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?oldid=982429 https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Vehicle_list
Figured these can be listed on their respective pages.
Nope. It was generated by someone I don't think is in here
Yeah. We have a new script parser which parses all script files btw
Nice !
it's actually script_parser.py this time
I'll try to see if I can possibly regenerate that table. No promises tho
Here it is json if you want to play with it
Yea I got it no worries
High five. Same feeling on mapping street names, pretty sure no one else will care, but it brings warm to my heart. One day, someone will look that and find it interesting somehow, and that is enough to me. So as long as I can, I'll continue to update those, so maybe you could do the same ♥️
I hope the redirect from Stats to Moodles wasn't important because I had to nuke it
gonna nitpick modding page names again:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Modding_structure 'modding structure' should probably just be 'mod structure', it describes the structure for mods
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Java_documentation this one is more opinionated but 'java documentation' should probably be 'JavaDocs'. it's a proper noun (javadoc is the tool used to generate them) and in the java world they're referred to as JavaDocs near universally, so extending it out to 'Java documentation' isn't really correct. 'Java documentation' imo would be a much broader topic that isn't covered here (this is actually one of the only modding pages that *doesn't* document any java object in any way) and not just a link to the javadocs
Fine lol
Done
So I'm wanting to make a thing for Modding projects to easily link things that exist for the various modding projects
Do you guys think Infobox would fit or should I make a custom one ? Or is there a template which exists already for that ?
Like be able to link steam, github and possibly more and it'll add the lines with the icon of the application with the link to it
I think having them in Building would be as a name, yeah. So Crafting and Building as you said.
As far as mentalworking and carpentry, you basically mean the new categories we have in the window? Makes sense for me.
looks really neat!
are variants really different as far as stats goes, or is it just looks?
I know some may have different seat layout maybe?
I think not really, yeah. it was there from 2011 or so
👌
Got anything about that ?
To make sure I don't create a template for something which already exists
infobox? All infoboxes are for the page type, like items, locations etc.
No
This
To do something like that
won't it be navbox at the bottom?
Basically have a side pannel, similar to infobox but to have socials to projects
ah
To link steam pages, github pages, discords if exists
I think we have nothing like that, just infoboxes
though technically infobox would do the job
Alright, I'll create a template I guess then
You think so ?
Can I add icons ?
Like to have discord, steam, github icons ?
i think item infobox has icons? or was it vehicle?
should be quite flexible
I also don't think I'll
Text icon: text
I'll probably just do
icon description
and whole thing linking
So like
[Steam icon] Mod page
linking an url
Let me do some tests
I think I'll create new subtemplates for it
Getting there
Is there a template on wiki for links ?
Tried {{Plain link|{steam}|{}}} but doesn't seem to exist in the PZ wiki
Guess I go for html
I found out why 💀

Aw man
Hell yea found a way
Fuck yea
There are some minor stat differences. Firstly between the normal and lights, then even with lights variants. Look at the second link and you'll see there's some variation.
Hello
First of all I find Wiki to be really bad design wise, hence I am here. I feel a great need to update television page with very important information and I struggle to do this.
I have created and verified my account
i am logged in, and I still don't get Edit page
there is no indication if I am doing anything wrong. I am supposedly in "users" group, because wiki states that anyone who registers is a "user".
There is currently a bug where users sessions are logged out and they cant edit, it's being investigated by the server administrator
What's wrong with the design?
Have added condition to pages that were missing it
Gonna try work on some more usage tomorrow. Very slowly getting through the Autogenerated articles... Very... Slowly.
Well, this could be a bug and not design issue then.
Yep, you were right, I see edit button after I tried to log in long time after the problem originally took place
also page updated
if someone can approve my change pls
Exposure survival teaches you carpentry?
are you looking at the code?
I don't understand your question to begin with, then.
Just never new that exposure survival gives you carpentry, so Im asking to double check
I don't know when last you started playing and if you character is now a grandpa/grandma, but Live and Living does give carpentry lessons. I never explicitly said that exposure to any specific program but carpentry lesson - can give carpentry.
Pal, look
You have explicitly written that Exposure survival gives you carpentry xp
that was not me. I added section about limitation
You've linked content part, so I assumed you were the one to add it
no worries, now this is out of the way, approve my addition to article please.
Its fine addition
Thought its written in more, steam guide like manner
And contains grammatical errors
I am not a native speaker, my apology and please correct what you find. I speak like I do speak, I have never written a steam guide.
But not bad overall
We will
By the time it takes log in issue to resolve
Which is about the time b43 will release
i mean, I have updated the article myself, please approve
i believe in incremental improvements! I believe in Harvey Dent!
I have made changes to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Foraging#Positive_traits
please consider approving
is there some xml file where different values for different properties are stored?
I could automate extraction of those and share my methods
media/lua/shared/NPCs/MainCreationMethods.lua
wdym by that ?
found it
What kind of property ?
Stats modified by the trait ?
You can't, that's the issue
watch me 😉
What the traits modify, just can't be automated
I mean man you can trust me I've got some experience with the game code and what traits modify is all over the place lol
just to clarify what i do, i find data and refine it to some degree
You'd have to parse the game code to find out every single bits
readarray traits <<<$(grep -R -I 'UI_trait_.* false' |grep -v '--'|sed 's/false.*$//' |awk '{print $(NF-1), $(NF-2) }'|sed 's/getText("//'|sed 's/")//'|sed 's/,//g') ; for traititem in "${traits[@]}" ; do trait=($traititem);printf -- "${trait[0]}"; grep -R ${trait[1]} Translate/EN/UI_EN.txt|grep -v Desc|head -n1 | awk '{ $1=" ";$2=""; print $0}' ; done
took me 3.5 hours
readarray traits <<<$(grep -R -I 'UI_trait_.* false' |grep -v '--'|se
d 's/false.*$//' |awk '{print $(NF-1), $(NF-2) }'|sed 's/getText("//'|sed 's/")//'|sed 's/,//g') ; for traititem in "${traits[@]}" ; do trait=($traititem);printf -- "${trait[0]}"; grep -R ${trait[1]} Translate/EN/UI_EN.txt|grep -v Desc|head -n1 | awk '{ $1=" ";$2=""; print $0}' ; done |sed 's/,//'

You think I'm going to verify all that ?
Anyway, what you did is just retrieve the traits cost ?
no, what I did i created a REPEATABLE script that can do extraction of all above any time any update comes up and any value changes
as long as The Indie Stone does not change their files too much\
also by changing just one part it can do that with translations to other languages
this part: Translate/EN/UI_EN
i did not test other languages, but likely it will just work
i could do it better, but I work 6 days a week on average. i need more motivation than just "Anyway, what you did is just retrieve the traits cost ?"
i just tested one extra language, it just works
minor bug somewhere, - translated to 8 in russian just in one instance.
but otherwise looks OK
if someone thinks of doing it again - you need to be here:
/mnt/gigSSD/dimko/steamapps/common/ProjectZomboid/projectzomboid/media/lua/shared
adjust to your file structure ofcourse
Linux is a requirement
Tbf I'm basing my interactions based on all your interactions with us so far. So don't take it bad on how I react especially as you weren't very communicative on what exactly you wanted to do when I asked what you were trying to achieve
no ill will
Be aware also that this applies to almost every single wiki editor around here, we edit the wiki out of passion and thus yes the wiki is not clean on every aspects
i wanted to get data from files in automated way, so when update comes up and devs change values in the game - automatically script would catch it
i could possibly automate other aspects of wiki, but its long, and I have long hours and stressful job. i want actually play game
Yea that's fair but when I asked if you were trying to retrieve every stats modified by every traits you literally didn't answer me, you just said that in your message
That's why I said it's going to be quite an insane task
i prolly was busy making the script, dont take it personal
i am curious to know why in one case "-" translated to 8. this literally and figuratively bugs me now
it was not in english though
What are you talking about exactly ?
russian translated:
-5 "Гемофоб"
-5 "Астматик"
6 "Кузнец"
3 "Кулинар"
4 "Травник"
86 "Дебошир"
6 "Бывший скаут"
4 "Бейсболист"
6 "Путешественник"
I mean the numbers should be dissociated from the translation itself ?
Tho I do remember an issue like that
Yea exactly so, why would any of these numbers "translate"
The number should stay how it is ?
yep, and thats exactly my problem, i have no idea why bug is triggered in russian
oh well, as they say first 90% of development goes to write a program, and other 90% - to debug it.
What do you exactly ? You retrieve the translation entry ID associated to the trait cost right ? Then parse the translate files for the translation entry ID and find the text for that language ?
same in german, exactly same issue 😄
first i seeked for UI_trait_. and FALSE string, that tells me this is unique trait
because there are traits related to occupations as well
so my traits are ONLY traits
devs were unkind and same string that had trait had semi unique string twice:
getText
so i isolated second part of it
and point number
Why not make the script a mod which directly retrieves trait costs directly from the game environment instead of parsing the files that add the traits ?
than i went into Translate/EN/UI_EN.txt file to get trait name
this IS directly from game environment
No it's not
No you're retrieving from the game files, not from the game running itself and the functions available to you
Almost every UI in the game are in Lua so the character trait choices can be retrieved from any Lua script, even modded
You could use the exact method that UI panel uses to retrieve traits and costs, and apply it in a mod which exports them in a file or even just prints them in the console, which you can easily retrieve
But better would be to export them in a txt file
This does involve launching the game, but due to the simplicity of the Lua script, that should stay valid for a long time and for a lot of game versions
but I DID get it from Lua files
No you parsed the Lua file
just because I did not explicetly mention NPCs/MainCreationMethods.lua in script - doesn't mean i did not use it
i did yes.
Yes and that's not what I'm talking about !
what difference does it make, if data in lua file is taken into game, it makes no difference where i take it from
Bcs you mentioned that your script wouldn't work if the trait file syntax changes
if they did then data from LUA in executable would change as well, but at this stage i would say they would not dare to change LUA file structure
values - yes, structure - no
it would require them to rewrite code in Java, instead of appending to it
No not really, they don't rewrite the game every updates
exactly my point
they tweak variables and values like stats on perks, they add perks
but they wont change whoe structure of translations for example
too much work for no benefit
so you gonna see incremental changes
not major ones
but yeah, i understand your bad attitude due to previous communication/misunderstanding, but last message is just not cool brah
🍿
Good changes overall, i have made some formatting changes to be standarised with the wiki. You can see them here.

It may be worth having a read of the help and style guide pages
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Contents
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Style_guide
Again not bad, some linking to topics helps, and the flow of the sentence, which is fine as you're not a native speaker

Nobody has to specifically approve, but it will be patrolled by admins as part of our routines
may be I misunderstood something, i think i was reading that there is such thing as auto submission, that is applied after some time or some other criteria
in the wiki itself that is
which assumes, quite rightly so, that my stuff does not get published upon me opening an account
i have read suggested pages. with that said Its deep night for me here, and i did not see my bed for rougly 18 hours so far or so. so please excuse me if I forget some. will try to read again perhaps later
Any time you save an edit it is published
I reinvented half baked bicycle basically... While tool exists, it seems to me its not necessary in use
It's definitely neccesary, used with a bot to update 5000 pages every patch
may be i suffered some browser cache issues, as in different tabs, in usual and in anonymous mode, same pade did not show update of content
I mean, you just gave a Python script, i did not look at content of it, but looks like its used to automate data collection from inside of game for purpose of updating wiki, or did I misunderstand its purpose?
I mean, its literally there:
Welcome to the PZwiki Parser wiki! This project is designed to streamline the processing of game data from Project Zomboid into a structured output format that can be easily integrated into the PZwiki. This documentation will guide you through setup, usage, and development.
Which part of that is not neccesary?
it IS necessary, automation is good
Oh i understand, you were referring to your script
i did not realise someone already did create the tool, but i was guessing that tool did not update the wiki in a while. as I did see differences between traits in game files and in wili itself
i am talking about your tool.
i have to hit the sack.
you may see little old annoying me again, adios!
We dont currently automatically update traits as we have other priorities, but the capabilities exist, like you myself and Vail both work full time jobs
@hushed bobcat @lucid junco and anyone else experiencing the issue, there has apparently been a fix with the session issue, please try again an if you still have issues if you could email Kirrus again
Hey hey, it looks like its solved now (at least it's showing as logged in). I'll try to edit a sandbox or whatnot tomorrow (at mobile rgn) to double check, but it appears that we are back to business
A malignant bug that seriously affects the gaming experience...
Bug reports go here https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/forum/85-bug-reports/ this channel is just for editing the wiki
Bugs go here. Please save us the time to translate all the posts in different languages and post them in English instead.
Looks like this has been reported? https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/topic/82887-m16-and-general-gun-bugsm16-shoots-out-the-whole-magazine-in-mere-seconds/
How to recreate the bug: 1. Get the m16, load it. 2.Change the fire mode to rapid fire. 3.Shoot using LMB. 4.Enjoy wasting a whole magazine in mere seconds and a possible game crash. P.S. I know that this bug is common, and no, i didn't have ANY mods loaded, and YES it was a new save, the version...
I've added a scroll-x CSS class. It just adds horizontal scrolling for a container
Instead of:
<div style="overflow: auto; white-space: nowrap;">
Just use:
<div class="scroll-x">
Nice
I got something interesting by some missing new fliers:
- Lenny's car repair is considered as Ekron, with is very very far. I was impressed with Mad Dan's den, but Lenny's car as well?
- The drag racing is considered west point instead of valley statio
- Nolan's car is also wespoint, with put the boundaries of Westpoint way south, but at least that location has a name.
Question: should we consider other business on those areas as part of the same city/town as the fliers, or just flag those "inconsistencies" to devs?
yay, welcome back guys 😄
missing new flyers? as we're missing some that were added in 42.6.0?
There were a few since the last update but I wasn't able to upload it (just the new version ones). Now everything is there
I guess this is indeed impossible to keep @flint vapor? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Modding&curid=736&diff=984087&oldid=984085
Not sure if could be automated? A bit niche, but potentially useful? Idk
but yeah, doing it by hand would be terrible 😩
I wonder where to categorize https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Link-icon.webp
There seems to be an emoji for that, not sure if useful? https://emojipedia.org/link
Pinging @digital helm for this
The problem is that:
- you need to find the changes in the game code
- you need to find what's interesting for modding
- it's annoying to update
- it's annoying to keep track of
- barely anyone will use it
- informations can be added later but people will probably just read last changes and not old ones
I'm starting a translation of a new language, specifically for Vietnamese. However, I don't know how to display a new language in the box below. Could you please tell me what to do next? Do I need to contact the administrator to make a new language available?
Yeah, we were actually discussing that with @digital helm and @proud cobalt the other day 😄 Vietnamese is not supported by the game sadly (though if there's a popular 3rd part mod, do let me know!) but the language should be supported by the MediaWiki just fine. There are some strings to translate too that only admins can add, see https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Translations#Sidebar
Okay, @digital helm I changed https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Construction to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Building pretty much, but does it mean we will move https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbox_construction to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Navbox_building as well? There's also some heavy linking there.
It probably should be moved over. Navboxes should go to lua too but they're not a priority, they don't actually have too much an impact on pages anymore
I assume moving to Lua would be favorable, but what do you mean as don't having too much of an impact on pages? I still find navboxes a good way to navigate between pages, so navboxes being so widely outdated is my personal gripe 😩
Impact on page load times
does a page exist for all the bars in the game in the same manner as, say the convenience store or grocery store page?
or is that not a thing
Don't think so, i think the generic pages were the last thing that was going to be done
I see
We brought something similar up a bit ago with Pat. I could be wrong, but I think it's because those minor locations aren't actually locations. Like Dixie, it's not a town, it's just a place along Dixie Hwy, and is more of a colloquial name. Same with valley station, it's kinda just the border between West Point and Louisville. And the Crossroads mall part of Louisville.
If you collate the ones in question we can pass them up to double-check
Unfortunately it's not currently a language we support, and would need to be added by an admin. Currently we'll only be supporting languages that are supported by the game itself, which are listed here https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Translations
If it gets added into the game, we'd be happy to add it
Is it an issue if I start updating some of the vehicle pages with the new vehicle variants?
It could be yeah. 😅 something I'm currently working on, so your edits could get overwritten.
Feel free to add them though, just note that they could be overwritten
Understood, I will avoid messing with anything much then so I don't inadvertently make anything more complicated.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Lenny's_Car_Repair_Flier.png
That is the one that is driving me crazy. Ekron? Look at the map how far it is from Ekron
https://b42map.com/?5466x9658
There are some things that were previously assumed to be in valley station, but aren't
Or something like Guns Unlimited being on the same road as AMZ steel
But one is in Ekron and other in Echo Creek
Sometimes you gotta look at the whole picture to realize the futility of your choices.

@languid kayak A few weeks back you spotted some item pages missing code, that should all be resolved now
Not hugely happy with how the sprite looks in the infobox. Would pixelart work here? @digital helm
I'd say definitely.
BTW, when it comes to tiles, I noticed that the tiles that are used to create movable items are actually cut to the size.
Do the game store values how to store it or does it cut transparency? GIMP has an option to cut to visible area.
I was susing it for tiles, and I think we should use it too, but maybe it could be automated?
What are you trying to do exactly ?
Was going to ping you also actually so glad you saw it. I believe this version of tiles has been cut and resized via a script, but I don't love how they look these days. It's a bit better on larger tiles like ovens. I actually just mentioned to Vail a few minutes ago I was going to look back at tiles, it may involve a rewrite though, possibly to implement into the wiki parser. Just a thought at this stage.
Would like to get tiles up to B42 and add the new ones that exist. The script to generate them could be much more robust than it is currently. Doing this would cut a big chunk out of the 41.78.16 category
The sprites are all 128x256 but they all have huge amounts of empty space, resulting in small images in infoboxes. Cutting them down to visible pixels can help with that but breaks the standard size
Hmmm
Should they all have the same size ?
Resolution*
Like square ?
Also empty space like that is cheap in images no ?
They're all the same in game
It's not about the file size but more they're hard to see in the Infobox
Not with this image. This image was scaled up not using nearest neighbour 😄 https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Lighting_outdoor_01_27.png I'll reupload with the original scale
Also some stray curlies }} which I'll fix
Thanks, yeah ok so maybe worth just cropping to visible space and scaling on wiki 🤔
I think that's best. There's no easy way to do it that I know of. All the tiles are the same res which are just tiled on top of each other, from what I understand.
Yes that ik
@proud cobalt I noticed these were uploaded as 128x256 so they're bigger in the infobox. Want me to set the tile infobox image width to 128px by default? I've fixed the pixelart class now so they'll appear as they do in-game, just bigger.
Increase the info box image size ?
Yeah thats the default tile size so that would be best
Unfortunately you can only make the infobox so big
https://pzwiki.net/w/images/archive/f/fc/20241022020742!Appliances_cooking_01_33.png
I see
How about cropping the tiles ?
Yeah that's one direction, or zooming in. Zooming in is what i went with last year as i had to automate it for like 1000+ images. It also means the infobox doesnt change height when viewing different images. But it's about time to revisit it
I've set the default width to 128px, and it will scale with the pixelated class
Will also need to visit (still) the icons being thin. It's not a simple fix because the js and css are tied to the image size. One day
and the 128x256 tiles look awful when scaled down to 32x32 on item listp
I've made the minimum width for the crafting table a bit wider so it doesn't look so squashed. Up for feeback if it's too wide or even too narrow still
I used to stick them manually in GIMP and then use cut to visible area. Sometimes there was barely visible alpha pixels though
I wanted to go through all the tiles that are not named by their name, there's a lot of them, but maybe we should just remove them? They are all used on tile lists which is really outdated (pre-Louisville outdated), so prior to 41.65, that's last time I spent work there
I started looking at doing the tiles pages again but then B42 dropped
I got about two lines in
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Calvy/Furniture
I think I did that too at some point. But they don't scale consistently. So I always crop to a power of two res
Thank you for the information. I'm a little bit sad to know. However, I have questions, like how a language was chosen to be supported? based on the popularity of the player or how? I'm just curious because I look at the list and see some of the languages only have like 1 speaker.
By people that come in here and say "Hey, I speak X language, Id like it to be supported"
And then if they add in basic stuff for generating articles on that language and maybe translate some of the main pages, then its considered to be supported
a lot of the languages only have the main page and a few other random pages translated
which is kinda funny to me
Makes sense to me since it's the exact thing I do. Randomly edit pages that spark my interest for a week or two and then move onto the next random one
Imagine doing that
we have stats there https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Translations so yeah, not a lot of pages for some languages.
@thin swan we did talk with Vail and Calvy the languages support and we may indeed limit the full language support for at least the ones game support, maybe even to just official translations as per post pinned in #translations if they arrive.
The problem with adding a full language is all pages are added to the wanted ones, and it artificially inflate the language bar on top and sadly we don't get enough people translating for various languages.
At least with the translations from the game, we can automatically create stubs for items and maybe other pages in the future, so at least that's that for a start.
You still can translate the sidebar if you want to use Vietnamese on wiki, as it's supported by the MediaWiki interface: https://pzwiki.net/?uselang=vi
Thank you for clarifying things for me. I think I'll start to translate sidebar and couple helpful articles in my free time.
@languid kayak that logo is not square
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Discord-Logo-Color.png
That's why I had uploaded the other one ...
Tho I guess it worked ?
I guess it was more of a problem on my first iterations of the template
good to know then 😄
Can replace this one with a square one if you prefer too, I think I took it out of Discord's logo package
I think that's fine ?
Speaking of cutting version pages, @digital helm didn't you said wanting to include counting infobox etc. versions in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Version to avoid one page being categorized twice?
It's not the infobox, it's the codebox. I must not have done it yet. I'll set a reminder
Can we hold off on this? It will be handy to know what non-item code boxes are outdated still
Now that I'm able to edit again, ima do some touch ups to some trait pages since I'm already doing the occupation pages. I got a question regarding fear of blood if any of you know. Do blunt weapons cause less blood splatter than sharp or is that not a thing?
That'd be interesting to know. I know they cause holes in clothing and also have a "slash" DamageCategory. I'll try to look into it when I can and let you know if I find anything.
Yeah that sort of thing is what made me curious, but then again I've never really heard of anything about it causing less blood splatter so I'm leaning more towards probably not
Okay, I left the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Archived_pages but removed the mbox after a brief discussion with @digital helm and @proud cobalt (sorry Calvy, though it did serve it's work!), as for pages it was duplicating stuff with obsolete template (soon to be renamed to Removed as it fits the category and purpose more, also after a brief chat).
As far as speaker categories, I think adding __EXPECTUNUSEDCATEGORY__ to them is not fair, as they technically should not be unused eventually, so we'll just wait for people to add it to their page eventually hopefully, while leaving them as it's trnaslated. There's current 5 of them (Catalan, Hungarian, Italian, Dutch, and Norwegian where we got translations, but users did not decide to add it to their pages (Catalan and Italian), or were done before the infobox was created (Hungarian, Dutch, and Norwegian)).
The same is true for the other pages in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:UnusedCategories – these are translated categories that have no pages/categories in them, so we're waiting for actual translations for them to be populated hopefully 🤞.
That makes the page sitting at 28 categories right now and without actual contributions, that's how far it goes currently 🙂 May be lower or higher in the future dpending on that, but at least it's cleaned now 👌.
I updated https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=PZwiki%3AProject_Translations&diff=985705&oldid=958509 with the info we have in #translations message
This bit is ambiguous: "As a part of this there will also be an edit pass on all existing B41 text, in all languages, to make sure everything is standardized." – not sure if that means that Catalan, Czech, Argentinian Spanish, Tagalog, Romanian and maybe English (UK), Afrikaans and Estonian will get the same treatment in the future?
I think only Russian is currently implemented in the game, in its early form, or did I miss some of the new translations too (or is it all so far B41 only?)
Main page and sidebar translations were historically tracked in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Translations#Translation_progress – I marked it as outdated some time ago, so some second look could be made to this, especially since we got Citizen skin since then with two unique strings https://pzwiki.net/wiki/MediaWiki:Citizen-footer-desc and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/MediaWiki:Citizen-footer-tagline that are translated differently than the rest of the interface (sidebar) and are instead shown on any /xx page instead of when the MediaWiki interface is changed.
I once wanted move it to the table, maybe now is the time?
I did not add the Vietnamese to the table since there's no foreshadowing of it being supported, but the main page is handy to keep I guess so that https://pzwiki.net/?uselang=vi works, it's just the links would lead to English? (we can add a notice that it's unsupported translation?) The https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Translations#Sidebar could be translated too. The only thing we won't have is the autogenerated Item count.
Pinging @proud cobalt for this as you were the most active in the project in recent times 🙂
I don't know if it's just Russian implemented, but I think Russian is one of the languages they want to iron out first because of its player base for pz.
Translations unfortunately lacks any solid movement with Ksilem away for his service. I'd say make any movements now while there's nobody to push back 😂
Ksilem was Lore, it was (well technically still is :P) Vibrance was the one pushing it mostly forward, though Ksilem made a great deal of Turkish translations.
I wonder when we'll get the full lineout of thew new official translations, maybe we can push autogenerated pages for all these then (but till then it's best to iron out the English pages as much as possible)
Yeah Vibrance hasn't been around for about a year now. Most translations were Ksilem doing Turkish. Sarah on PTBR, and Xianah on Fr
No real project leadership though. Understandable though folks are just working on individual pages (we see some big spikes of folks coming and doing translation for low hanging fruits like categories, as they are easy, which is good overall)
What are the chances of finding a portrait of Kate?
Kinda that's why I always come back and make the description for categories as consise and to the point, as I know they will be translated quite soon 😄 (same for templates)
Any idea why https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Translations is being put in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Unknown_version ?
Can you tell me if the chance of finding this item is 0.01% with the default loot settings in the sandbox, what percentage chance will there be if the total loot is at its lowest? Only the lack of loot is lower
Codesnips without retrieved
We don't have the percentages for other settings
GPT chat, helped me roughly calculate the chance given my settings, the actual chance of finding this item is 0.001%. and I found
Combined chance:
18% (that the item will be in the game at all) × 0.001% (that you will find it in that closet) = 0.00018%
And that is:
1 chance in ~555,555

Uh
eh, not that rare 🙂 Before the balancing patch Vaileasys estimated that the chance to find issue 1 of The Impossible Steelam with 398 issues would be 1 out of 625,000,000 on default settings 🙂 #pzwiki_editing message which is even rarer than the winning $10,000 lottery ticket which was 1 out of 8,857,805 https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/1hrh8yb/you_can_get_a_10000_scratch_ticket_with_a_1/
I wonder what are the chances to find issue 1 of Chuckle now? It seems to be a comic with most issues currently at 535 issues total https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Comic_Book#Variants (Steelman being 399 issues)
Thats not quite how the loot spawning works
Did I make a mistake in the page somewhere ?
Jesus
Yea like Calvy said, that's not how it works
It's way more complicated than just a percentage of chance to spawn
Too tired to look closer, but the codesnip doesnt have a retrieved version, which may default to unknown. But i think if retrieved isn't given it should call retrieved at all
So no i dont think you made a mistake, it may be a mistake in the template
retrieved takes boolean and then it's the version to be filled
@digital helm do we still need the " Update image links to new files, so duplicates can be deleted.
See table below and Category:Pages requested for deletion." task and a table below at https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tasks#One-time_bot_tasks now that all images are moved?
(@proud cobalt too)
It should default to false, but at least that worked
well, the version was being put but in a wrong manner 😛
All good on my end, up to Vail
Oh right, i read the diff wrong
In that case, yeah just a small mistake
btw @proud cobalt not sure if that will be ironed out with the next item update, but I forgot to tell that after splitting https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fishing_Rod_without_Line back I marked it as missing distribution tables, just in case so you're aware.
Aaah yea mb
Added, i dont check that cat anymore
Yeah, I wonder how much it's needed since the automation 🤔 as in users marking it manually.
I check categories on https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Site_maintenance now, trying to get them as much to 0 😄
Shouldn't be needed anymore
Load up debug and look at it
It's so small that has a E in it
Thought it can spawn in almost any bedroom and living room
If we are talking about finding it by looting
Foraging is better i think
@proud cobalt I merged the helmet - hockey but we seem to be missing distribution table for Hat_HockeyHelmet_TINT as well https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Helmet_-_Hockey#Location
also not sure how we solve the colored TINT icons in infobox?
Anyone with 41.78.16 installed? I could add the the code to the old belt item (now removed) https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Belt_(old)
nice
Okay, https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Articles_to_be_merged are clear now. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fluid_container is the page that needs most work out of merged ones.
Okay, I added all the knives (most if not all items from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/SharpKnife_(tag)) that were unsuppressed in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_where_template_include_size_is_exceeded into https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Suppressed_articles
However, I noticed that the only template that got suppressed was https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Infobox_item
I know it has already been simplified with ll removed from it and I know it's in the works to be revamped eventually, but what is the actual benefit of us suppressing (commenting out) the what it makes section over just leaving it in pages where template include size is exceeded (except maybe it being less server tasking? Though I doubt)
I know not displaying the navbox template is not ideal, but I wonder if not displaying it is worse than not displaying crafting recipes, which is what most likely people come from in the wiki? Especially as navbox template can still be clicked to navigate further.
I know it's just the recipes for sharp knives, which are used a lot. But still.
Either way, all the suppressed pages (including Items and Crafting, which desperately need some rethinking/rework, as they are popular and large) are in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Suppressed_articles now
Now stuff that I have no idea what's wrong with (probably some templates) is https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_with_too_many_expensive_parser_function_calls – just 4 pages, and non-English ones only, so I suppose that's some language templates involved with them? Pinging @digital helm again when you have spare time.
They seem to work fine though. Relevant page on Wikipedia with potentially more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Pages_with_too_many_expensive_parser_function_calls
This category is populated automatically by the MediaWiki software. It lists articles that issue too many expensive parser function calls. As of 14 October 2010, expensive function calls were #ifexist, PAGESINCATEGORY and PAGESIZE. These pages should be edited to reduce the number of expensive calls.
For a list of MediaWiki-populated tra...
I removed under construction from Irvington and moved the inspiration section to trivia, but it definitely require some shortening https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Irvington#Trivia Pinging @naive imp for that, though the location pages could use some standardization and updates I guess
@proud cobalt seems https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Seeding_Broccoli was totally removed; I wonder why your history script didn't pick it up? Was it ignoring obsolete items?
Cleaned some https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Articles_requiring_verification – the remaining ones are mostly old patchlogs I couldn't verify easily back then, some 41.65 modding stuff, https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Stressed and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Tired foraging modifiers, https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Morale, things like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Talk:Exercise or https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Talk:Scrap_Metal, NPC and zone stories and other stuff that just wasn't updated to B42 yet, but might be some low haging fruit, so if anyone wants to take a look, be my guest. I'll come back to it eventually too to hopefully get it to 0
@lucid junco I suppose you don't have logo for this ready? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/AMZ_Steel
oh and a bunch of tile stuff, so hopefully something that will settle if Calvy brews up new tiles automation 🤞
This one was also not picked up as removed I believe? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Kindling
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Articles_in_need_of_improvement cleaned a little too
Found two more, were marked as Stub before: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Articles_requiring_distribution_tables
Went through https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Stub_articles as well, not much done, but unmarked some at least. I'll be coming back to this too
Currently sitting at this. Will be going through splitting boms and then the car parts in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Articles_to_be_split then maybe I'll tackle https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Image_improvement_needed
Split these three further first:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Aerosol_Bomb_with_Short-Range_Sensor
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Aerosol_Bomb_with_Medium-Range_Sensor
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Aerosol_Bomb_with_Long-Range_Sensor
@proud cobalt I assumed that https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Aerosol_Bomb_with_Long-Range_Sensor#Location is true since it was missing from the page?
you may also want to update crafting recipes to link directly to these, I will now proceed to split further items
Oh ye btw @restive adder Thanks for fixing up the wiki login issues for us.
Welcome, sorry it took me so long!
Ah no worries
I've given the antispam folk access, so hopefully we'll have that anti spammer plugin active again soon
There is no table for it
Yeah the ones that aren't too bad i think if we suppress the navbox it would be better than the crafting
We also consideredd not including its use as a 'tool' as part of the page but that feels wrong
Something on the bots end
<@&671452400221159444>
It's in the works, i just got Jabs script working in python
I've deleted from here and reported the user id
There's no table for these
Only for this
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bullets_Bandolier
Added v3, they were only added in B42
interesting, so they can't be found currently?
The Abuse filter is working wonders atm too. When i was testing it the Captcha was still active, so these bots are the ones smart enough to get past the captcha
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:AbuseLog
They likely do, just not in a way we handle. Item spawning in pz is wild
I'm splitting the rest (is going slow), but so far https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Remote_Fire_Bomb#History and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fire_Bomb_with_Timer#History are missing history (there's no for the V1/V2/V3 as well)
I added the two you linked, but heres the history folder for 42.7
no distribution table and only one item split but still progress I guess 😄
They're fixed now. They got stuck in the cache. You can tell because it's there in the category, but doesn't have that category on the page. Just needs a blank edit to refresh.
split Pipe bomb now, so only Smoke Bomb and Noise Maker left
a Dr. Oids poster is hidden behind this wall: https://b42map.com?11747x6745
just found it kinda funny
I thought about something but, for the page Scripts, we got a bunch of parameters associated to it with their own pages. Would naming the pages for the parameters as Scripts:theParameterName be a good idea ?
I'm not used to the symbol : and what it means exactly but I noticed its usage for subpages of specific modding fields in the Vintage Story wiki
these are namespaces. We though of this, but eventually scrapped. Originally they were laid out like that: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:AllPages?from=Modding%3A&to=Modding%3B&namespace=0
I think it overcomplicates things though, as without these they are shotrter to find/type and there's no terrible confusion and not that many collisions
Yes I agree that one list is terrible however for objects that have parameters, imo it would be okay
Like I' not suggesting to apply it to every modding page, but the script parameters that might be good no ? Since technically they are subpages to scripts in a way
Subpages use / not : BTW, so mainpage/subpage
The colon indicates a namespace like User: File: Template:
So perhaps we should do Scripts/parameter ?
namespaces are something Kirrus would have to set up and I think they give us little to no benefit (you can enable/disable them in search, you can count pages in namespaces, and I think that's it? They don't count to page count by default too).
Subpages just show the back arrow by default, we used to have subpages more, but moved away from it. Cyberpunk Wiki relies on it for example https://cyberpunk.fandom.com/wiki/V's_Apartment/Computers or https://cyberpunk.fandom.com/wiki/V's_Apartment/Memorabilia
V has one computer in their main apartment. Unlocks after completing Queen of the Highway. Requires Kerry Eurodyne romance.
Okay, the bombs are now all split 🎉
There might be be some minor issue and inconsistencies, especially if something is missing in the infobox. @proud cobalt @digital helm will a bot take care of these?
These are missing distributions, I assume these can't be find then?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fire_Bomb_with_Short-Range_Sensor
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fire_Bomb_with_Medium-Range_Sensor
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fire_Bomb_with_Long-Range_Sensor
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Remote_Fire_Bomb
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Noise_Generator_with_Timer
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Noise_Generator_with_Short-Range_Sensor
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Noise_Generator_with_Medium-Range_Sensor
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Noise_Generator_with_Long-Range_Sensor
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Remote_Noise_Generator
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Pipe_Bomb_with_Short-Range_Sensor
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Pipe_Bomb_with_Medium-Range_Sensor
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Pipe_Bomb_with_Long-Range_Sensor
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Remote_Pipe_Bomb
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Smoke_Bomb_with_Short-Range_Sensor
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Smoke_Bomb_with_Medium-Range_Sensor
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Smoke_Bomb_with_Long-Range_Sensor
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Remote_Smoke_Bomb
The links in the crafting should be updated to lead to specific versions now, and so the list in item list (which I submitted 8 PRs for as I was merging/splitting items btw, didn't send one for the bombs; not sure if the script will pick it up? https://github.com/Vaileasys/pz-wiki_parser/pulls )
btw @proud cobalt can you generate https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Newspaper&action=edit&redlink=1 form the IDs? It's Base.Newspaper_New and Base.Newspaper_Recent, the old Base.Newspaper is now https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Old_Newspaper
Or do I have to create a stub manually?
They used to be like that, but we moved them to their own pages. They can mess with templates. I'd really only recommend going with that if there's a functionality reason for it, such as what Faal linked #pzwiki_editing message they're good for accessing with templates. But if you're not wanting them for that reason, then I'd just stick with using a descriptor. E.g. "Type (item script)". No real problem with consistently using the descriptor, we do it for fluids and tags.
In general newspapers could use some love; the old ones is missing titles (which I just noted) https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Old_Newspaper&diff=986703&oldid=986701 and I think we should add variants to all of them now?
The titled ones were only autogenerated briefly
If there's something missing, then the bot should add it
Script gets all item links from that item id dictionary, so they should get updated when run next
Here
Calvy would have the most up-to-date history, which should update automatically next time
Yeah, I want to come back to them eventually. Along with the books. I should have the framework done, so I'll see what I get done over the weekend, and see if I can generate a list of them
I guess car parts should be split to individual items now? Names are unique, would make putting stuff in infobox easier too, potentially deprecating some attributes in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Infobox_vehicle_part
page is missing variants and recipes, the recipes I think bot should take care of?
Mentioned these to Calvy, yesterday I think, I was going to cover them while I do the vehicles. I expect to merge them into Infobox_item
I think they get skipped right now, because they don't use Infobox_item. But I may be wrong
Correct
Created https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Newspaper though location seems to be from a different ID? Base.Newspaper
Also combined both in one page.
Should I continue splitting them, or don't bother then?
Split them, they will be moved to infobox item soon
I realized why https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Fishing_Net&action=edit is marked with * in item list; it uses tile infobox
Alright fair enough
TIL you can drive a vehicle with no brakes and suspension 😄
I'll continue splitting the parts later, till then here's two more I marked missing tables @proud cobalt https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Articles_requiring_distribution_tables
(names for reference btw)
Missed this @ from awhile back but feel free to kill it. That image is hilariously large lmao.
Could be useful to someone trying to update old mods to the new coordinate system, but it wouldn't be that hard to recreate tbh
New WIP vehicle article https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox_4 existing page for comparison https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Chevalier_Nyala
Main changes are the infobox, vehicle mechanics table, and variants table.
I kept the list of vehicles on the vehicle page short https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Vehicle#Vehicles, so I could then list the variants on each of the 'base' vehicle pages. Since most variant's stats are identical. List by variant is here https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Vaileasys/sandbox_5
I'll then automate generating a page for each of the variants, which will just be a skeleton for more info on each variant, such as spawn location. Similar to what we've done with items.
funny as I temporarily brought it back as it's being linked in the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Mapping page 😄
But the moment page will be updated to B42, it will most stop serving almost any purpose
oh, that's a fair point
Much better; btw, why the red links link to "Unknown"?
I also see the UI is linked in the right; I doubt there's an easy-ish way to wire it up to the table? Maybe add numbers as a stopgap?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Brass_Nameplate#Trivia Cranlon or Cranton?
I'd also link Mechanics in the table
Daryi Cranion
Someone just felt like typing i in upper case
It's Daryl Cranton. He's a reporter on GBC
Because of what we mentioned before with vehicle parts, they're not defined in the parser. So I might help with splitting them next
I was considering adding the icons. I'll have a think
I suppose the transcipt is right? The font might be misleading but it really looks like "l". Either way, I think I'll change it to "T"
Ye I'm just going off the transcript on the wiki page
I actually went ahead and did some splitting. There are still some items to split, but at least windows/windshields and doors are done
Splitting https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Hood now (though splitting by the types is kinda a lot of duplicated content sadly).
Then there's just these:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Gas_Tank
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Muffler
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Suspension
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Tire
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Trunk (though this one includes trailer trunks)
Also created https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Trunk_-_Small_(Heavy-Duty_Vehicle,_VanSeats) but that might need a second look
Seems that'll be it for me for now, so these 5 are for splitting https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Articles_to_be_split
There's also these https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Articles_requiring_distribution_tables and a bunch of split pages that either lack ==Code== (I marked them as stub) or the code is from 41.78.16 which I marked as outdated
Can we up the brightness on the light? or move it back towards the camera a bit? Losing detail on the camera side of the car
Yeah, I thought the same. I needed to render them again. I fixed it with the items
I didn't realise there were so many trunks now. These look like a nightmare...
@languid kayak how do you feel about them just being "Standard" or "Heavy-Duty", instead of "Standard Vehicle". They're all vehicles. The vehicle type is just "Standard"
oh, never mind. It's in the item name. I don't like that 😄
Yeah it's the item name 😆
Ilovepz
In that case the descriptor here should be separate. Since (Heavy-Duty Vehicle) is part of the name. So Trunk - Small (Heavy-Duty Vehicle) (6-seater) (6-seater) to match the vehicle descriptor
Vehicle part names fixed https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_list#Vehicle_Maintenance
I thought so too, even on light they are a bit dark, if it's not too much trouble then yeah, great 😄
yeah, I did split them all now, was quite some work (well, maybe not that much actual work, compared to researching), but I even wonder whether the 3 variants should be split at all. There were differences with brakes, but not with the rest.
I think that having spearate variants of standard/sport/heavy is not logical for everything, especially as the differences are so minor; even when it comes to seats.
How nice are vehicle compare to what we were expected and how clunky and overcomplicated the system in CD:DA is, there are some more logic in the parts in CD:DA 😄
I had a look at some of them, and the big thing for me is all the text. I wonder if it's worth having a parent page which has all the shared info so it isn't duplicated. If something changes, it's likely only going to be updated in one place. Then we can specify anything unique to an item. I think this is what @proud cobalt was doing at one point with items
I've also just added the vehicle part stats to the item infobox. So I'll start adding them now
These two are exceptions
Funny thing about trunks is that most of the time it's defined in the vehicle itself
Yeah, probably. Cn't find it right now, but someone did the same with reloading, but it was through a template and was not-ideal from what we discussed
not sure if the names are even shown anywhere in trhe vehicle screen
nah, it's just trunk. But it helps with some curious people that stumble across it in debug
Other splits and merges were fixed too 🎉 https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=PZwiki%3AItem_list&diff=987369&oldid=973065
Yep 🙂
except https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Newspaper though? and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bare_Hands is still there. * and color marking is automatic, right?
and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Umbrella still; maybe it's too much IDs on one page for these though
and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Water_Drop isn't picked for some reason too
and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Garden_Fork no idea why
and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Mushrooms (might be the case of too many IDs too)
and while https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fishing_Net is not picked things like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Box_Trap are, so maybe the issue is not with the infobox tile in there?
Not sure what's happening with this one @proud cobalt https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Umbrella&diff=930447&oldid=926639 https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Umbrella&diff=972909&oldid=966341
Splitting these would be convenient
Yeah, the * is based on whether the id has a page in the script. So there's an issue with parsing the wiki pages to get the id
and desert variants of some armor are red links for some reason
oh and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Helmet_-_Hockey is not picked too 😄
I hate this article, umbrella was on the blacklist for a long time but i thought we had it working with the combined infoboxes 😐
Looks like the bot really doesnt like the mix of open and closed umbrellas. I'm going to blacklist it again for the moment
@languid kayak After a nightmare 24 hours, the building data now uses the proper translations and build icons where available, so you shouldnt have to do them manually
In all the criticism, it's nice to share some positivity
I must say that the PZWiki is one of the best I have seen for a game, hands-down. It is rich in content, very fast, not full of ads (I loathe any of those Fandom sites since loading the ads takes a while and uses GBs of memory), and well-organized (most "wiki" software misses the point).
Yeah, thank fuck we didn't stick with a fandom wiki. You go to a fandom page and the site is just an absolute mess
fucking awful site
even with adblock the site just aggressively tries to steer you into a bunch of other more “popular” wikis
And that we have some dev support
Since 90% of fandom wikis are made by poor teens that cant afford hosting their own wiki
Or wikis that are too big to now be moved by however working editors they have
We found a new weapon to fight bots
An umbrella
my initial prejudice to Wikia turned out to be accurate 😄 Kinda fell downhill for many wikis when they bought Gamepedia too
I used to use this https://gist.githubusercontent.com/Faalagorn/0d9dbac615fc20ddd7161b3066a1d48f/raw/a0e2f63cbdfdb87ad69d45981e575078041c9ba6/gistfile1.txt when I was editing Cyberpunk wiki, which allows me editing, I think the original is here? https://gist.github.com/xtref/f94e67a2d8bf44095c88f8d710f6fe4a
There are also ways to browse through 3rd party websites, but yeah.
There are official wikis (Escape from Tarkov, Cyberpunk), but a lot has moved over anyway. And those official are just a stamp really
still in fandom, instead of you know
providing some support and putting your own wiki server
I think the most annoying is how high fandom are in the search results, without https://getindie.wiki/ I would often just end up in Fandom instead of proper wiki myself lol
Seems much better now, though I wonder about this one (line 324) https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Module%3ACrafting%2Fbuilding_data&diff=987621&oldid=981361
products = [=[<small>Construct Forge</small><br><br>Construct Forge ×1]=]
Also in line 63, though it might have been my mistake
and lines 927/999
RainCollectorRoundClosed
is this used for anything?
I'm aware of this one, seems to be a weird interaction
No these are not real, theyre debug
But theyre in a real file
Hard to explain 😆
Okay, a little early this time, and we may get an extra summary from @digital helm but here's the new monthly summary <@&1205891296565268520>! https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:News#April_2025_summary
WTF
does anyone know where to get mods for all these vehicles?
#mod_development But it's just one mod called "Filibuster Rhymes' Used Cars!"
why didn't i ever realize it
wow amazing work
ilovethisgameilovethisgameilovethisgameilovethisgame
"id": 259065,
"type": "MAX",
"tileSheetIndex": 65,
"properties": {
"generic": {
"CustomName": "Filler to Change The Filesize"
}
}
},```
Me when i have 24 useless tiles
I've added my summary. Bulk of it was on the parser project, which is stepping into a new phase of its development
Some WIP automatically generated vehicle articles https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?oldid=987723 https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?oldid=987725 https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?oldid=987727

Yeah editing and stuff
.
Suuuuure I edit...
@digital helm seems that the infobox item doesn't have the |container= parameter, e.g., |container=truck bed. Is it something we want to add?
(compared to vehicle part template that is)
That would make sense yea
Okay, trunks are split 🎉
Is it necessary? Because won't the icon be displayed beneath the model?
I'm just thinking about all the other containers too, like bags
probably not? If not, then I guess the |container= parameter can be safely deleted after moving to item infobox?
for those it is, I think the edge case would be some real containers that don't have the item icon: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Container_icons
Yeah. It was just a copy over from tiles, which makes sense for them.
It'd be simple to add. If there's an example, I'll add it
mufflers split too 🎉
okay, merged suspensions; just tire and gas tank remaining – I will do that later, maybe(?) tomorrow(???)
Do you know if anyone is working on blacksmithing part of the wiki? If no one's working on it I can do it perhaps. (I blacksmith irl)
There is nobody specifically working on blacksmithing. I made the pages but they're not too in depth
Mind if I work on it? Go a little more in depth.
Id love nothing more, just remember its about in game blacksmithing so things that occur in game may not be 1:1 in real life
As much as I love to talk about my IRL experiences, I will stick to the game.
That being said the game does damn good job at replicating real life blacksmithing
Great, let us know if you need a hand with anything
Also being a blacksmith is awesome
some trivia if anything's off would be welcome I bet! If there's something off (that wouldn't have to be due to game balancing), maybe even something that could somehow forwarded to devs eventually too
what's the policy on using source code and datamined info to update articles?
the agriculture info is all available on a lua script, but that would be my only source
ingame experience is not feasible with those growth times
You are free to use it
Try using more text than code though
I'll test and confirm in debug mode then
idk if skipping time months at a time breaks something in debuf tho
Using code to write text is fine, though be careful of falling for the old what the code says isn't actually how it works trap, as I have before. Just confirm it actually works how it's written in code.
Direct code on main articles should be avoided bar the code section.
@digital helm @languid kayak @naive imp
In my ultimate quest to make items better I'm going to suggest a significant article reformat. I'd be happy to spearhead this and it's implementation. This is my proposal, along with an example:
Location header gets a name change to Obtaining
How it's made gets a name change to Crafting (or recipes to be distinct from crafting in usage) and is a subheader of Obtaining
What it makes gets a name change to Crafting and is a subheader of usage
Location tables move under a subheader called Generated loot in Obtaining
Fixing renamed to repairing (really only used for weapons now too)
Building becomes a subheader of usage
repairing, condition, evolved recipe, etc are all moved into usage.
Body part is a sub header of usage
Navboxes get their own Navigation header, after See also (if included). This keeps them visually seperate from article content
(Note: Example has many templates that wouldn't actually go on this page)
massive improvement imo
I agree. Big improvement. I guess the main difference is splitting Crafting into Usage and Obtaining. I'd be happy with this.
Yeah crafting would just be a subheader rather than its own header. Along with the other headers moved into usage
Sounds good
shouldn't breaking doors and chopping trees be near "weapon"? Or is crafting higher to be more in the face?
but yeah, seems fine at glance. I'll take a deeper look if you want to iron some neats before you made it live for thousand pages, but not sure if today.
But generally the What it makes and How it's made is now shorter and easier to link for sure.
I like Crafting/Building as we discussed with @digital helm (had to chnge my way of thinking of Building as a verb :D)
Navboxes getting headers will finally solve the issue of them collapsing when you click "see also" or "referecnes" which were the last section. That should be applied to the rest of the pages eventually too.
Yea
Simply add the header to the template no ?
Also, I know we are pretty much rolling everything automated now, so it totally lost relevance, but I guess https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Boilerplate_item should be updated? Unless we want to phase boilerplates totally? These were from the beginning of the page.
Force a header on the template
Back when I was doing some contributions in PCGamingWiki I liked https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/PCGamingWiki:Sample_article and it was a great to keep pages unified. PCGW is also mostly botted (I think it's people with AWB mostly)
so far it's just you and Vail rolling the bots, but I'm slowly wanting to get used to them too 😄 AWB was terrible experience for me
Subheader order is not 100% but yeah might even be a subheader of weapon itself. At the least higher up
Seems everyone's happy so I'll write up some style guide changes and put them here for feedback
Won't be immediately though
I think so? Though the item and other navboxes are due to be revamped. All new items are missing and these cause templates to throw https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_where_template_include_size_is_exceeded
WE commented the crafting on other so they are in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Suppressed_articles but wastalking about maybe uncommenting
yeah, something we all hopefully have time and clear mind to get right and collaborate/discuss, it's best to have it once and good 😄
Will keep it seperate for now in case we decide to add something else to navigation too
having it separate while technically adding extra thing to the page might make editing flow easier for people coming to edit 🤔
not sure if "Generated loot" isn't a bit ambiguous? Is it generated as in generated by the game, or is it generates as in table is generated?
Maybe just "Loot distribution" or something like that? Though otoh it has other sources in there too
The table itself is more specific, I don't think outside of wiki editors generated loot would cause any confusion
but isn't a loot table something that people will be accessing too in the end?
Not sure what you mean. I think loot distribution is too vague itself, that's also why we moved from distributions to location
Sorry, was supposed to reply but got distracted; anyway, it was about just the name of the header, "Generated loot", more about the "generated" part of it. Maybe just "Loot" could be fine?
Is there a guide on editing the wiki? If not, could someone guide me? Do I have to get into coding in order to edit the wiki and how do I get the privilege to edit the wiki?
No you don't have to get into codding don't worry
Simply make an account
Log in, and you will be able to edit most of pages
As for guides uuuhh I don't have the links on hand, there's a few things
@languid kayak possibly pin them in the channel no ?
I don't think he is online rn, that being said thanks[:
should be pinned post by Calvy: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Contents
Aaaah yes didn't notice that was in Help:
this
@digital helm seems |chance_damaged= is missing in the new item infobox? Noticed while I wanted to move https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Trunk_Lid_(Standard_Vehicle) to the item infobox
same with |noise_mod from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Muffler_-_Old_(Standard_Vehicle)
as well as these three from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Suspension_-_Regular_(Standard_Vehicle)
|damping=
|compression=
|chance_damaged=
Okay, tires are now split, so the only page remaining is https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Gas_Tank though I might not do it today, especially as names seem to be wrong for some reason
Actually, screw it, I went ahead and split them just to be done with it so all the vehicle parts are now split 🎉
@proud cobalt @digital helm back to the question, do we really need to suppress knives anymore? Pages like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Stone_Knife are already categorized under https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_where_template_include_size_is_exceeded so we can track them easily and while the navbox template is not expanded, it is shown, it is clickable
These ones are there, just new names. See the bottom of properties https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Infobox_item#Properties
This one I think I missed
I can update the infoboxes. I've got them all generated
There are also missing distribution tables noted in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Articles_requiring_distribution_tables as well as missing or outdated code sections (noted in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Stub_articles or https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Outdated_articles)
I'm not really involved in this, but I guess it would make sense
I think I'll just uncomment suppress for these then, and keep an eye on them as-they-are. I don't think having pages in the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_where_template_include_size_is_exceeded is really crtical, as mediawiki already supress the articles anyway and I don't think it suffers any penalty hit
Items and Crafting will keep using suppressed, though at one point we might not need nor the mbox nor the category anymore
I kinda agree, although I'm not overly fond of loot either. Only alternative I've got is if we split the current locations tables into separate subheadings. But that might be a longer term change
as far as a possible item location, I wonder if it would be possible to add vehicle parts there which can be salvaged off vehicles
Possible, yeah. Especially now
UI only see these 🤔
brake_force
BrakeForce in game files. The brake force stat of the brake.
engine_loudness
EngineLoudness in game files. The loudness modifier for the engine.
degradation_standard
ConditionLowerStandard in game files. The rate at which the part will degrade on standard terrain (e.g. roads).
degradation_offroad
ConditionLowerOffroad in game files. The rate at which the part will degrade when offroad (e.g. grass).
suspension_damping
SuspensionDamping in game files. The damping stat of the suspension.
suspension_compression
SuspensionCompression in game files. The compression stat of the suspension.
wheel_friction
WheelFriction in game files. The friction state of the wheel.
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template%3AInfobox_item&diff=987455&oldid=965161
nothing about noise
adding chance damaged would let us to move most pages from https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Infobox_vehicle_part&limit=500
Not sure what to do with Turkish, Russian and French pages though 🤔 Plus technically the template is used on build41 snapshots, so not sure it'd be straight up for removal yet? I marked it as deprecated for now https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Infobox_vehicle_part
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Spare_Engine_Parts/tr should work, but for some reason I had issues with some attribute not showing when I tried switching it to infobox item
This one's done, knives are uncommented, show all crafting recipes and just show a link to navbox and are in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_where_template_include_size_is_exceeded while the item/crafting pages are in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Suppressed_articles currently
Pinging @proud cobalt for that too
Not sure I'm up for splitting https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fuel but that might be something I tackle next, seeing as I spent some time in this page, unless someone wants to or have some feedback. Pinging @digital helm for that as you were engaged in the energy sources 😄
Basically what I think is
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fuel being things that burn pretty much
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Gasoline (not sure it's need actually, since we have liquids?)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Energy things about electricity, https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Recipe_UI_icons will probably belong there too
engine_loudness
unrelated, but I just realized VEIN is having Franklin for a vehicle names too?
Instead of energy, electricity might be better. I suspect, we'll have other types of energy, such as steam.
Happy with fuel being burnable items. I can actually generate this list fairly easily. I've already done all the logic, as you'll see in some infoboxes
Also happy with gasoline not being needed. And just having "Gas"
Franklin was an old car company and trailblazer is a car model. So just a coincidence I'd say 😄
oh, the generated burnable items may be better indeed! The old list was, well old.
We already have https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Electricity so I was thinking explicitly of these other types of energy like steam/mechanical/solar/wind 😄
Oh, yeah sounds good. But it'd be unneeded until they're added though, right?
probably yeah. The idea of creating the page came from the link in see also in fluids: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fluid#See_also – see https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Energy as well
or maybe in fact it was https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fluid_container#See_also indeed
we could be lazy and just do redirect to fuel, though I think energy and fuel (as in burnable items) are fundamentally different.
We still have batteries (to power flashlights and radios) and gasoline (to power generator and vehicles), but these are kinda unique so I'd not threw these together I'd see
I'd redirect energy to electricity for now.
Sounds reasonable.
okay, that'd be no split for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fuel then 😄 just rework (which page probably really needs).
These two pages link to redirect currently; not sure we'd want to change it? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Energy
Links can change. Fluids were the first thing I did.So before finding out we didn't have that second half of the crafting system
@quartz bear can we verify these? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Tired and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Stressed modifying foraging? As per https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Talk:Tired it should affect it?
time to update pz
@digital helm @proud cobalt There are some pages in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Image_improvement_needed that were manually marked as missing 3D images; could we get these to have a (missing) model name, so that they'd be put in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Articles_requiring_verification ?
Some examples:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bandana
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Belly_Button_Ring
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bow_Tie_-_Clip-on
and more
Might be it for me for today though, I will probably focus on these two next:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Image_improvement_needed
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Articles_requiring_verification
So expect me asking for everything 😄
soon guys
correction
it's tired and panic
actually nevermind
it's tired, panic and stressed
and the Fear stat, also
nice to know fear has an actual effect lol
any chance we can get specific values?
well
can you remind me in like 12 hours
I'm going to sleep rn cuz I have school in 1.5 hours
Loot might work. Minecraft wiki uses Generated loot too
If it's just the navbox that is getting cut off then it doesn't bother me, its when it starts effecting the rest of the page i think its detrimental
Distribution tables done, not a single one had one 😄
I've always been a fan of the Minecraft wiki. I think that's where "Usage" came from.
Also, their use of 'generated loot' is to differentiate from other forms of loot like 'mob loot'. For us it's all bundled together. So I think loot works
I think I found an easter egg but I'm not entirely sure. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Magazine:_FBI_Incident_Report:_San_Fernando_Bank_Robbery Is this probably referencing the North Hollywood shootout? Even though that shootout happened in 97. Cause it seems like it might be. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Hollywood_shootout
The North Hollywood shootout, also known as the Battle of North Hollywood, was a confrontation between two heavily armed and armored bank robbers, Larry Phillips Jr. and Emil Mătăsăreanu, and police officers in the North Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles on February 28, 1997. Both robbers were killed, twelve police officers and eight civi...
Already had the trivia for it 😄
ah lmao nice, shoulda scrolled down
It also teaches bullet proof armour, which they used irl
yeah I just figured it had to be. It teaches you how to make armour from bulletproof vests and these guys were heavily armoured
yeah
I do gotta love though that his report teaches people reading it exactly how to make their armour.
Same energy as making some report about some chemical attack that kills several people and you just tell people the exact formulas and what equipment they'd need to make it.
The Tokyo subway attacks used a deadly neurotoxin known as sarin which is produced by...
Proceeds to give step by step instructions
ah. Funny you mention those guys. They had a farm over in WA where they tested chemical weapons on cattle.
Yeah Aum Shinrikyo
actually probably the most terrifying cult I heard of.
He convinced his followers he was levitating by doing this ^
Also gif from an official anime made by the cult
god, we gotta make a cult with the sole purpose of brainwashing our followers to get them to become contributors for the wiki.
get entire teams for the wiki.
Indeed; they do have https://minecraft.wiki/w/Generated_loot page though and it's only on some items it seems – we on the other hand have "distributions" (like https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Procedural_distributions)
But yeah, all minor nits I'd say
so far it's only navbox, yeah. See alsos aren't cut at all.
We can also make a temporary navbox-light for those, though with navboxes getting revamp, I'm not sure how much effort it's worth
yeah, noticed that too 😄 (as in loot types)
yes it is, and i think we had that in trivia?
or do you mean adding it to the easter eggs page itself?
Yeah it was in trivia, just not easter eggs
sounds like stereotypical police in media 🙃
you will get salvation in zomboid, and zombies will have less chance of biting you!
Listen our loyal editors and followers. We need donations for our holy pilgrimage to the Bahamas. But the Lord Spiffo has requested that we specifically need first class tickets, because only the foul degenerate Jay's Chicken worshippers fly in economy.
I mean, thats actually true
Since starting editing the wiki, I've experienced less deaths from bites
In fact, my death count is as low as it can be
That may be because Im playing less... Nah
Yeah i think Loot will work, i'll go ahead with that in mind
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Easter_eggs Ok since the popculture section was getting super bloated, I've added some subcategories to it to hopefully make it better for people to read.
Coincidence.
Good idea
All vehicle variants added. Still more work to be done, but wanted to add what I had
e.g.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Franklin_Valuline_(6-seater)#Variants
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Chevalier_Nyala#Variants
The Wiki must grow.
enough to warrant page bumps I'd say 😄 I'll be looking over them next
Here's all the burnable items. Just separated by Type for now. I'll clean up, maybe tomorrow?
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?oldid=988353
chance_damaged is added now btw. Not sure how useful it is though. It's for determining if the part is damaged on a vehicle, but only if the vehicle isn't a "good car". There's also some RNG on top of it to damage it, such as the vehicle zone.
neat 👌
oh, I for some reason though it's a chance of damaging part… Maybe worth clearing up?
We have degradation_standard and degredation_offroad for that now
Reminder for tomorrow
Might be dumb but wouldn’t incident reports suggest it being internal documentation?
It’s like “these chemical making equipment would be suspect to trace who’s doing it along with these base chemical”?
yeah to be honest, it's probably that, but I like to think of it as them just releasing a guide on how to make this stuff to the public because it's more funny that way
Fair, that’s true
I was actually thinking about that this morning 😄
Was going to take the verify status and ping you, didn't have time to be much online yesterday
Tomorrow begins with school
Reminder for today
I'm on the bus
@languid kayak I just watched one of the old Defunctland videos about toys r us and uuh
They actually had an ice cream parole
@naive imp @languid kayak What should we do with West Point Gun Range and Hunting Center?
Should it be moved to Stendos firearm emporium
Or we create a different page for stendos
and leave it as is
If that building replaced the old one yes I think so
But open to others opinions too
In the core its the same building
That still requires a sledge
But overall its a new building, fairly different from the old one
and in slightly different location
and any mention of West Point Gun Range and Hunting Center are now gone
probably a conincednce, yet funyn indeed lol
I'd say move, with the oldid poinitng to the last revision of b41 – name of the page will be different, but it's just a stopgap so I wouldn't worry too much
On one hand categing for folks playing B41 on MP could still be important, but we'd rather focus all our focus to keepint updated to B42.
Yeah, move but also mention its old name on the page
that definitely (trivia I guess) + a redirect
didnt we have previous name in the infobox
in locations? Not sure, let me check
oh indeed
|former_names=<!-- or | former_name = -->
There's even
|altnames=<!-- or | alternative_names = --> <!-- or | alternative_name = -->
the more you know 😄
I even forgot about this 😄
former_names, former_name
Insert name(s) the building was formerly as.
altnames, alternate_names, alternate_name
The alternate name(s) for the business/building.
So yeah, former_name(s) for it I guess. Not sure which format is preferred, both are probably for legacy reasons?
hidden depths of wiki never cease to amaze even us 🙃
PZwiki iceberg when?
Unfortunately the results of games being bought out by publishers who don't care.
For those that havnt followed the KSP story KSP1 was a rocket building game made with love by Smash studios. The KSP brand was bought out by the Publisher who enlisted a new in house studio to make KSP2. KSP2 released in early access, and a year later the entire development team was axed while the game is still available on steam. The publisher shut down the studio and along with it the absolutely enormous official kspedia wiki has been left to lapse. It's now only available on the way back machine.
Fortunately users have made backups knowing this was coming, and are looking into a community wiki and forum.
I hate when wiki dies :/ Was the case for me on several occasions
That's really sad to hear. While KSP2 was a crash landing, KSP1 was a great and much loved game - a huge part of why I got into Science. The content on that wiki was really in-depth and sophisticated, sad for it to just disappear. Glad they could recover it.
Literally, was reading an article this afternoon and the first header was "Introduction to rocket science" 😆
I took Astrophysics at uni and my professor mentioned KSP as a good introduction 😆
Going to say now that I don't think vehicle's should have a code section. Each vehicle is around 1700 lines (including the templates)
Imo this is basically useless because modders will look at game files anyway and normal users won't do jack shit with those
Even for items you have these ?
Yep. I think items are pointless too
Sometimes it can be useful when wanting to see what the game files say without having to look for it. But still, it's not that hard
Exactly
I think I only played the demo, I should give the game a proper try someday
as long as all the files are properly parsed and included in infobox I'd say so, if not, I find looking at the items' code sometimes more informing than the infobox sadly
was mostly the items I was doing splits for, so odd cases
There may still be some of those; getting missing stuff from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_list (stuff marked as *) was most of my past time last time
I've just finished getting a new list of item ids with a new script. I have 140 more pages than the current one, so I'll see if it fixes the issue of the missing pages
Looks like a lot of the missing ones are fixed now https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_list
Vehicle infoboxes updated. Here's a few
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Livestock_Trailer
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Dash_Bulldriver
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Masterson_Horizon
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Mercia_Lang_4000
it seems there's 484, was above 500 before
most of which are movables which hopefully reduce after Calvy update the tiles
The other 124 were likely tiles then
I disagree with this, I've seen quite a few people point out that you can fact check anything on the wiki by the codebox, I use it myself for that
Good point. Especially since it's practically always up-to-date.
And it's sourced, with a version and line number. At the very least it gives someone a starting point where to look. Purely for item blocks though, I'm considering not including them for tiles, though I did finish the tile Codesnip script last night...
There are some flags we don't include in the Infobox that are in the json snippets, but that's because they're already not very important 🤔
Can be really hard to know which are important enough to include, without it being overcrowded
If you mean tiles specifically, I think knowing if it's a valid surface would be helpful
oh, we already have that
I've added if it counts as a surface for crafting today
That'd be why I didn't remember it 😄
Added a few new flags today, as well as using the rgb template for light colours (yay not just fluids)
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template%3AInfobox_tile&diff=988389&oldid=985405
There's a new flag for crafting surface which is different to surface which is different to table_top
Admittedly I didn't add any documentation for them
It's a surprisingly helpful template. I'd also like it's usage with locations to mark the building type
this comes last, if you can be bothered 😆
Like the same as on in game maps?
My excuse is I'll do it when we go to lua
(I won't do it)
Yeah. Halwaru first used it, although I don't think it's used anywhere yet https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Halwaru/sandbox_2
Oh yeah I remember that.
Unrelated, the default mW collapsible looks nice on citizen, if just a little subtle
You talking about the highlight on hover?
oh, nevermind. These. They do
The boxes themselves are just quite clean. I'm used to seeing them in pzwiki red
The whole skin in general is really clean
why is this page marked for removal btw @proud cobalt? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Small_Locker/pt-br
i can automate information about every vegetable
but i need to talk to someone in which format they want information
i need someone big time editor to talk to me
for example
farming_vegetableconf.props["Tomato"] = {
icon = "Item_Tomato",
texture = "vegetation_farming_01_70",
-- waterLvl = 75,
waterLvl = 70,
-- timeToGrow = 432,
timeToGrow = 360,
minVeg = 4,
maxVeg = 5,
minVegAutorized = 6,
maxVegAutorized = 10,
vegetableName = "Base.Tomato",
seedName = "Base.Tomato",
harvestLevel = 6,
-- waterNeeded = 85,
waterNeeded = 80,
mature = 5,
fullGrown = 6,
specialSeed = "Base.Tomato",
badMonth = { 10, 11, 12, 1, 2, 3 },
sowMonth = { 4, 5, 6 },
bestMonth = { 5 },
riskMonth = { 6 },
seasonRecipe = "Tomato Growing Season",
seedTypes = {"Base.TomatoSeed",},
harvestPosition = "Mid",
slugsProof = true,
mothFood = true,
}
i can get it out, but I need to know how to format it to create page for it
i really need to look at the python code, but it will take much time
similar to what i did with bait: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Fishing
alright...
The name is one of those Italian brain rot memes the kids are hyped about too, makes me think this is an edgy 12 yo.
Thanks! They've been banned
As in the crop grow time? This is already done https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Agriculture
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bell_Pepper_(crop)
i see
Also, looks like you've used the item id as the icon. The icons are in the item scripts which corresponds to the item id. Also listed here https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_list
i am trying to guess my best with regards to icon names. its not like its documented somewhere
i am not pushing for it, but I could make all plants being in same page, like list of it
instead of individual page
and it would be up to date
so when someone looks at cabbage, they can see tomatoes too on same page, etc
That's on the first page I linked 😄
