CDs is usually correct, would only use possessive if it was something like "The CD's back cover"
As I said - citizen on mobile is good. Menus are a great way to fit all necessary info into a small phone screen. But I think that its redundant on the pc since you have so much space to put info on screen without making it look bad
And at the same time, Vector is perfectly centralized, making it easier to read and work with
(Thats why I dont like MonoBook)
@proud cobalt What do we do with all of the items w/o location table?
Specify how they can be found in other ways such as zombie outfits
Thats for clothes right?
Citizen is very customisable on a user basis, which align with its dark mode and mobile design made it a very good option
Yeah clothes
For that specific example
Foraging for some clothes too. I probably won't be updating the location table output until B42
There are also some items that lack location though
Maybe they dont spawn in the world naturally, but I have no idea how to check this
Seems this can only be find while foraging - Rare trash item
I couldn't find anything for this. So I'd just say something like "It can only obtained by spawning in with debug or server commands"
Add images from the gallery also in infobox as alternative images for the locations. can't really be automated.
Starting replacement of models on item pages only. This should be the bulk of usage
Am I going crazy or all the infobox's have shrunk in size just slightly?
Not going crazy #pzwiki_editing message
Seems to be a bit smaller on vector22, so let me know if it's too small
translation
@proud cobalt Should I touch the "translation" part in this case?
Seems like a displaytitle
No, translation is the conditional key, so it determines the output. Leave everything next to #default untouched when translating templates
Yep what Vail said
Repairable column added to weapons tables https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Weapons#Axes
Axe model needs to be replaced please. Protected page
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Infobox&action=edit
Looks good
What do people think of adding 'sticky columns', so when you scroll horizontally for some of the wide tables, it doesn't hide the first column. This is the same effect as something like 'freeze panes' in excel.
This is an example of the weapons table. The icon remains on screen, and the other columns slide behind it.
I'd like to explore this for table headings too, but haven't look into it yet.
Credit for the idea to @proud cobalt
Table headings is also doable from what I've seen. I just had the idea Vail made it possible 😄 I figure this could help our main item tables width issue.
Not just slightly
text size is definetly smaller
Yeah I think the old size was better
There is this one thing I want to share about CDs, I didn't know at the time that https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Premium_Technologies_Radio is capable of playing CDs, therefore the first overview sentence is as such: A CD is used in conjunction with a ValuTech PortaDisc.. Should we change it to A CD is used in conjunction with a ValuTech PortaDisc or Premium Technologies Radio.?
Is "Months available" used to indicate in which month item can be found?
That's how I translated it
@languid kayak How do we deal with gender of words?😅
well, for now I'm improwizing 😄
but tbf, I can't get my head around catching on that. I used what the forms in Polish are.
as in multiple suffixes in parantheses
✨ O ✨
if that's the case, future should do too (done btw)
done, thanks!
Hm, I'm actually hesistant now, maybe we should have a page for it? Sounds it's just missing logo due to angle (like majority of stuff we have): https://map.projectzomboid.com/#12684x2281
I have a plan for buildings like this but for now I think we should be consistent and not have a page for it
It will be documented in the future I just have other stuff to handle that's more pressing atm
ah, so there's more like that? So keep it in the list, but remove the actual link?
Yes, keep the building itself in the list just get rid of the red link
My plan is to have all the buildings even the ones without signage documented and listed but for now the named locations take precedent
The Unnamed ones will be listed and documented in the future, I've got a basic proof of concept but it's not ready for a sandbox in my userspace yet
Just not at that stage if development yet but it is planned
makes sense
btw @proud cobalt you might want to update links on your usage page 😛 https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Calvy There are two linking to https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Category:Articles_requiring_editor_verification&action=edit&redlink=1 that are no longer relevant.
Also, I know you're busy elsewhere, but I've been thinking of at least moving https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Tiles to Furniture and going back to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Seat_Yourself_Furniture a little more.
BTW, the irony is, pretty much all the quick links that are most prominent on main page need attention
I've been thinking of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Locations now that https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Knox_Country is improved, though it's supposed to cover more (tutorial, challenges, businesses (that page lost interest as of lately), knox county (I think we removed links to it lately too)).
Other than that, Crafting and Items and Tiles Furniture could use autogenerating and Vehicles could use some tweaks while when modding page is fine, the whole modding needs much love 😄
I've been spending a lot of time getting items autogenerated. Progress has slowed as I've been rewriting a lot of stuff. I currently have weapons and clothing in a usable state. Just need to set up a framework for generating those list tables.
After I'm done with items I'll be moving to vehicles. There's a lot of technical details that are missing for them.
Crafting will wait for b42 for obvious reasons. And tiles is a challenge to autogenerate. @proud cobalt the parsed tile data you got, is that only for b41 or did you get the tool to parse it yourself?
I did notice the redlinks, just haven't fixed them yet 😄
Happy for you to move things and come back to SYF
I was also thinking about that. Been spending some time looking at it lately. The quick links and the links underneath.
Nah the guy couldnt find the script he used for it. And i couldn't figure out how to parse it. No encoding or lack of encoding worked. I think its some kind of binary file but I just couldn't parse it. I would love to figure it out
So only B41 stats
I looked into it a little bit too, and couldn't get any useful output
Also, is it important to keep the word length in the tables roughly the same?
Just thought of a simple solution for this. Will implement when I can. Should fix all the subpage headers
Tiles (the page themselves), are mostly done (just require human improvements), just missing a few from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tile_list and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_list#Furniture for some reason. The tile page is what should be rewerittern to lower the scope to just the movables 😄
yeah, getting in the back of my head 😄 Will see how much time I'll scrape, but this week might be busy for me
Haha fixed it now so no redlink.
Or can I make them a bit longer for translation's sake
Glorious news indeed, thanks bruv!
Being roughly the same size is nice, but I think the translation should be the priority
I've had SYF in the back of my head for years, long before you took over from me 😄
never got back there though
They probably have different names in the tiledef and were later changed in the translation file to something else.
Tile list only looks at the translations, of which the keys are only the previous tile names. And since the movables as items is only new it likely copies the tile translation
All model redirects have now been checked for usage and marked for Deletion if not used. There's a couple that are using old names as their new names, so just be careful when mass deleting. If whoever deletes could make the same changes to the model table that would be appreciated.
@digital helm @languid kayak
Aight then
I think Im finished with that
Great, if you want to send it over I'll have a look at it then I can start working on getting the articles up
Looks good for the templates, it's just this part that needs translating
"intro_template": "{lowercase_name} is an Item| in Project Zomboid.",
"headers": {
"Usage": "Usage",
"Condition": "Condition",
"Location": "Location",
"Code": "Code",
"See also": "See also",
"Consumable properties": "Consumable properties",
"Repairing": "Repairing",
},
"help_text": "Help PZwiki by adding information to this section.",
"translate_reason": "Translated using game translation files.",
"condition_categories": ["Weapon", "Tool / Weapon"],
"condition_text": (
"The {name} has a maximum condition of {condition_max}. Its rate of degradation is influenced by the {skill_type} and maintenance skills. The chance of losing durability can be simplified to the following formula: <code>1 in (35 + maintenanceMod × 2)</code>. Where \"maintenanceMod\" is calculated using the {skill_type} and maintenance skills.<br>"
"\n\n{{{{Durability weapon|{condition_lower_chance}|{condition_max}|skill={skill_type}}}}}"
),
},
Change /en to /ru, then translate the right side only for the headers section. Then for the other parts translate the sentences as if it was a wiki article. If you look at the polish example underneath you can see which parts need to stay English.
If you want to leave the categories section I can fill that in
Oh, the one above the example?
I thought it was an example
Yeah the English one is the one that needs to be translated. The polish one is the example
Looks perfect! Thanks I'll get that started when I can
The project's cursed ❌
I deleted some marked to deletion yesterday, but probably best for @digital helm to check 😄
Hey @lucid junco i forgot to add the translation for distribution table header. Is this a reasonable translation?
Axe is the item Id so has to stay English for right now. Would this come before or after the word
Yep, sounds right to me
And its after the word
Google translate to the rescue 😄
Anything look obviously wrong? @lucid junco
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Calvy/sandbox2/ru
Yes, Im a bit bad at typing as it seems
Maybe I should use навыков instead of навыков so it is all red as a link
or rather Skill/ru
We need to change the infobox though
And also its still Распределение Axe
(and also made worse by how bad russian wiki translation is)
Oh waut
So навыков?
Wait
Yes, its less susceptible to the translation changes in the future
And translation changes there will be, since at least infobox is a bit rubbish
I forgot to fix the typo
Feel free to update infobox
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Infobox_item/ru&action=edit
Sorry which is the typo, can you copy paste it
Ive already fixed it, thats why Im uploading it the third time
Its fixed in that file
Im curious if there is any way to make it топоры instead of Топоры when using the {skill_type}
You'll have to help me here, is it a capitalisation difference?
It should be lower case in there
Rules in russian and english about capitalisation is the same, you cant use uppercase letters if it isnt a name
Is there also a way to make it redirect to Состояние aka Condition/ru, instead of just Condition page?
Yep, how's this Состояние
Oh, I used Состояние
And hoped for it to magically work out
Chances will have to be a header on the russian page
Written in English
So probably better not to use # until the page is made
Fixing is wip and cant be translated yet
What is it supposed to be
Распределение Axe
Or Распределение топор in the full-ish translation
Or Распределение топора since russian loves using declensions
Axe has to stay English currently as its the item_id
So this should be updated now
Its all good now, infobox aside
Great, infobox can always be updated on the template anyway, so ill look at starting this overnight
Thanks so much for your help
You are welcome
It is kinda out of date, since it lacks
Equipped Two-handed
And tags
And Metal quantity
And possibly more
Though I think this can be updated with help of others
Regarding location tables. Thinking about @robust latch's feedback for them being in English. How do we feel about having room names formatted like this
Translated_name (roomid)
Wire Factory (wirefactory)
This would require a list of translations for every single room name, and would be added at the script level.
Also @languid kayak @digital helm
(Posted in the wrong channel before)
This could also be done for location table headers? Possibly.
that could work
Yeah, I think russian version is missing...
Some.. things
67% of English infobox
@proud cobalt Unless Im missing something or some parts are not to be translated therefore missing
(Or others idk who to ping apart from you)
Just copy paste the translation guide and start translating from there
Where can I find it?
Wait, Im a bit confused now
How so
|equipped= is used to show if the weapon is one handed or dual, right?
Not sure
Probably
The template is so big and full of arguments that you will occasionally have to make sure the infobox has the same translations with the game itself
|equipped= One-handed, Two-handed will be like this
My only concern is the potential column width. But if that's ok, then I think this would be good.
Not sure it could be done on the template side though.
On the infobox you have the 'label' (left side) and 'data' (right side) most of the translations such as equipped are for the label. Here, 'Equipped' is used for how many hands it's equipped in AND the body location a clothing item is equipped.
Hopefully that helps. Let me know if you have issues
To clarify, when I say 'left' and 'right' side, I mean on the rendered template, not the translating bit.
I need to get onto this. The functionality is final, I just need to add doc and translatability. I'll keep a reminder
I can use a line break?
Wire factory<br>(wirefactory)
That was convenient to wake up to. I do wonder if we should avoid counting subpages now.
That's what I was thinking we'd want to avoid, otherwise we increase the table length 😄 in that case I think just let the line breaks be added automatically
Either way, it's a very minor concern
I think maybe we should too
I think leaving it auto is best. It means we can support translations. We dont even have to do en if we dont want to
Minecraft has 10,000 articles with 660 active users 😆
We're punching up thats for sure
They actually count subpages too 😄
https://minecraft.wiki
Russian redirects going up. Waiting on the final checks from the Italian translator and Italian will start going up too.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Calvy/sandbox2/it
And Minecraft is about 10 different games now 😆
Happy with this. We can always change it if we change our mind
The main problem was inability to comprehend what our translators had done with the word Equipped
I sincerely hope no one will have the same problem with my translation
Same; subpages aren't meaningful, and can still be seen in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:Statistics
Header fix going up. ETA 17 hours 😆
What was wrong? Kinda out of the loop 😄
The language headers used a generic header as they are generated, and the script was made with English B42 pages in mind. But I realised I can just use the English header for language subpages, so all headers will be accurate
Yep, but there's a little over 5,000 pages to edit
that's half the pages we have 😄
(at least it's a finite number)
btw @proud cobalt about these https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Soup/ru&curid=52935&diff=489119&oldid=488639 I guess it's a prefered way now since we're not using ll there?
Also I guess lcs is less heavy than the ll?
Ll doesn't work for templates iirc
In all honestly it was much quicker to copy paste it with lcs for the couple hundred pages missing navboxes, rather than manually figure out what language I was on and writing it
btw, what's the status with infoboxes? Are there gonna be revamped after all the splitting is done?
navboxes*
Yeah they're gonna have to be completely rechecked after splitting, then again for B42
well, almost anything is gonna be rechecked/changed/different after b42 😄
Indeed it is, didn't think of it that way. Will also put CalvyBot at 100k+ edits
I will update the uploader script to use the English header for Italian and beyond
btw; when you find translators in #translations, you can ask to translate that bit too: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Citizen-footer-desc&action=edit
Alo I think some sidebars translations might be missing in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:AllPages?from=&to=&namespace=8 (and some might be slightly updated as we changed them a little)
these all have to be updated by interface admin anyway, means me or vail (or kirrus)
Didn't know they existed. I figured they did, but wouldn't know where to find them 😂
😄
btw, compare how lackluster are some existing pages 😩
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Sheet_of_Paper
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Sheet_of_Paper/fr vs https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Sheet_of_Paper/pl
I guess we'll replace them in the end manually, right?
Also some pages host some historical info still (though if we dig deep enough in English pages, we should find them too: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Shoes_(disambiguation)/de#History)
btw, I updated https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Translations#Articles and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Style_guide#Article_sections with the info following our automated changes in the language pages
So far I crossed it until all the pages we want are automatically generated, but might as well remove it altogether now. Pinging @digital helm for that too.
Also let me know if that thing is mentioned somewhere else, too 🙂
Yeah the main point is that the information is there for users in their own language. And important pages like weapons and food have much more automated information on them too. Copying Crafting over will also help this
I also need to look at adding distribution and code boxes to pages that already existed. Once they're on there is simple to keep it up to date
yup, I don't like touching that, though some sections are obsolete by now (effects for example; history was replaced too, but it's not fully automated). The rest would require splitting into sections.
Infoboxes will solve some of these though, I guess those are planned somewhere down the line?
Different topic (I'm going through them, as I have some time for patrolling changes :P)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Paint – this infobox have empty "General" section; is that how we want it to be for the general pages like that?
I think it's fine like that, a little silly but something I think only editors would notice
And how many languages now, 3?
Yeah pl, tr, ru. Hopefully tomorrow it too
Won't be long before you hit a week to update all languages 😆
I think including page_version on languages is good. Would need to be added for the translate extension anyway, so best to start now.
Code is whatever to me. I've never been fond of it 😄
That's not intentional. "General" would normally be removed, but because we have weight=- weight has a value, so it gets displayed, although weight gets removed afterwards because it's -. I could add a check for this
E.g. without weight=-
So many little things to do
What's the remaining 22k pages? Just templates? Since the ther 10k is readable articles and categories.
Oh the files aswell
Everything else imaginable in all the other namespaces. Includes all the user pages, templates, talk pages, files etc
Lol at least they will be staggered, as all the community language efforts have to be updated. So English will go first asap, then we'll see how we go
I'm for this too
as in code in general or code in non-English pages? If it's automated, won't hurt. I often go to the code section when checking stuff.
also might be good for modders
I was meaning code in general, but I get that it can be useful.
The 2 pages should be identical, just translated, so code and page_version should be on both
Added this https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Paint
I've removed the infobox font-size change from the vector skins. Turns out they already reduce the font size by 87.5% for the body.
Looks good
it works now, but couldn't we just remove weight?
it seems the page doesn't break on preview for me?
Yeah, removing weight would be fine. This is just an extra check as it should never display with nothing in the section
templates, files, categories, help and project pages (we don't have many now, things on Help: and Project: namespaces meaning helps and actual projects + community portal, including language ones), mediawiki pages (sidebar messages mostly, but not only),
oh and user pages + all kind of talk pages
I've spotted the first victim of the model swap. I havnt had time to go through the changes yet so please point out if you see any. Hopefully I can get to them soon
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Hand_Axe
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_with_broken_file_links would help I guess
Thanks yeah I havnt had a chance to look at this
Thanks, they look much better now.
Right, the help pages doesn't actually have a header for page count
Speaking of wich I think I should finally start fixing TR help pages. Just in case there will be some Turkish editors coming to Wiki, one day.
It's actually a built in mediawiki feature. The NUMBEROFARTICLES magic word if interested https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Magic_words#Statistics
You have namespaces (Help, PZwiki, Template, etc.) then the main namespace which doesn't have that prefix.
These are the requirements to be included:
- Be in the main namespace, or a defined content namespace
- Not be a redirect page
- Contain at least one internal link, as configured by $wgArticleCountMethod.
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Using_custom_namespaces#content-ns
Magic words are strings of text that MediaWiki associates with a return value or function, such as time, site details, or page names. This page explains only the standard magic words; for a technical reference, see Manual:Magic words .
There are three general types of magic words:
Behavior switches: these are usually written as uppercase words ...
In addition to the built-in namespaces, it is possible to add custom namespaces to a MediaWiki installation, to further separate content and allow more logical organization.
Custom namespaces are simple to manage using the $wgExtraNamespaces configuration directive.
It is also possible to define alias names for custom (and also predefined) name...
OK this is actually fixed now
Oh yeah redirects too. There's a lot of those now. Probably 10,000+
Yeah, way more than the number of articles we have 😄
So much better for them to get done now. The panic of B42 has dropped significantly since the start of the year
And somehow we just keep on finding things that need to be done
40% done, 4 hours ahead of schedule
Ahh the joys of wiki 😄
The rate limit gods have been good to us
Don't tempt them
That's actually at 12 second rate limit 😂 but it started at 20
@robust latch @lucid junco Fixing template can now be translated if you'd like to do it https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Fixing#How_to_translate
so they're less cruel 😆
yEs
Sorry, I missed a translation and added a caption. I've added a placeholder to TR. https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Fixing/tr&action=edit
Well, the mediawiki one is just pages in the Main namespace, so without prefix (but the pages with colon in title are counted, and IIRC subpages too).
The language ones are counted based on category IIRC, and I think it's indeed the header that adds it currently? Vail switched how it works once so I'm not sure
I should update the screenshots in the help pages, but I'm waiting just in case we'll get a new citizen, it changes how few things look/work
Huh, wasn't aware of the $wgArticleCountMethod, not sure which one we have set. I think it'd have to be Kirrus to check? Or can they be seen somewhere?
The panic has drops and now the waiting game started 😄 I guess TIS are on their toes right now as they don't want to end up as Cyberpunk launched (or pretty much any other AAA game for the matter).
I've added fixing templates for every fixing recipe output by the parser now. Will look at getting them on language pages when i do crafting (most likely)
What exactly is it used for?
Oh

Alright, good to hear. Not going to translate help pages yet then.
Looking into that now and oh boy, its a bit janky
"X Rack Firearm I dunno what it does."
A translator translated like that?
That is just the worst, its better for them to leave there as english or blank than doing this, because these kinds of bs "IDk bro" "Ill edit here later bro" sort of edits can be fucking everywhere
Which was the case for 2 particular users at the time for Turkish back in February or so
Well, entire russian translation was about the same quality for a long time so..
Well, it'd be mostly images but still
What do all these categories should mean?
Voice is already in the Multiplayer
Unless Im missing something
Oh
I do
Tbh, its better off to start over due to how outdated it is
You know what, there was never a Controls/ru page before
Sometimes for particular articles that decision has to be made yes
seems https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Tea_Bag/ja#Crafting is bugged 🤔
I noticed there's quite some pages like that, using model instead of icon for icon, not sure if that's something we can do en masse? Pinging @proud cobalt for that https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Margarine%2Fja&type=revision&diff=505677&oldid=488949
(also some have the same image for model and icon, resulting in a blurry icon, e.g., https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Canned_Tuna%2Ffr&type=revision&diff=505689&oldid=488797)
Hm, what is written in this magazine? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:TVMagazine_Model.png
I think this page is due to removal? No need to keep it I guess? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Broccoli_Chicken_Casserole (same with French one)
this would need revamp, but I think the item is still spawnable in debug? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bowl_of_Ramen_Noodles#Former_crafting
Interview with TV star Kelly Vader
Kelly Vader? Would that be a reference to something?
I also think it's "B"?
or Bauer?
No. Idt this is referencing Darth Vader.
Pretty sure that's all back-end, no way to see as far as I know. I have a method for counting articles by language though. Just need to add it
Thanks, but you missed Required items: which gets used for fixing things like car parts
Italian going up, 4 hours eta
yikes. It was 10,000 yesterday
Main page stats changed to be per language. Unfortunately now it'll only count articles that have Header, since it references the language code category (only pages, not categories or files). https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:En
I think the second name is far too blurry to determine what the name is. No reference comes to mind for me
IT pages up, redirects going up
Should we be using model if the icon is the same? This will make it harder to know what pages are missing models. Possibly automatable, depends what we want to do and how to identify those pages
Looks better, its more accurate to the wiki itself which is English main language
Oh
My bad
Fixed it now
All pages should have header right?
All articles at least
Yeah, main namespace
This is fixed (and more with the same issue)
icon should be used if there is no model. If model is empty, the template uses icon, but not the other way around.
These pages seem to be missing icon altogether, so maybe check for that?
Also, if model and icon are the same, model should be removed. The pixelart class is only added when using icon as the model image.
Here's an example of one I just fixed https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Mustard/ja&curid=19769&diff=508611&oldid=488973
I don't see the harm in keeping these removed items
Still spawnable. Item still exists, and not Obsolete
@proud cobalt I've added/updated Item list for ru, tr, pl and it, in case you want to see which item pages are missing.
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_list/ru
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_list/tr
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_list/pl
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_list/it
Awesome! Was gonna look at those at some point
these are supposed to be in LL format right? I am changing them to LL whenever I see one
No issue. No harm in not changing them, just makes it easier when translating
That works, yeah. We can also link to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:Statistics as other wikis do
Well, currently if there's nothing, we omit the parameter and icon is used to display pixelated icon instead of models.
For missing models Reupload should be used and for items that don't have models at all, we usually just mention that in trivia (and update the page once they do get models)
Could be more specific with Reupload, as currently those are stuffed with other images that need improvements
Is it still in the code though? Even as obsolete?
Also, for the obsolete items, the old recipe templates are commented out, looks kinda ugly 😄
It's not in the code, but it's still part of the games history. Isn't that the purpose of the obsolete mbox? To indicate that the item is no longer in the game.
I think the recipes should be removed, and maybe just mentioned
I see you fixed https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:EvolvedRecipesForItem/ja @digital helm 🥳
I know it's due to be revamped, but are there any immediate fixes for the template btw? If not, I'll just change animations to cycle-img for now
That was the point, yeah, though as the time passed and items blurred I removed some obsolete clothings and recipes as they were hard to maintain 😄
Generally, if we can find a direct replacement for an item, everything should go into ==History== table
No immediate plans, just on the to-do list
I'm neither for nor against it, I just like think the history of it could be helpful. For me, after I came back to PZ after I while I remembered the boring soup, and wondered what happened to it, so looked it up (although I think the wiki still said it existed back then 😄 )
I'm fine with its history being merged with the history of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Roasted_Vegetables
Do you want me to link this part? @languid kayak @digital helm
Cartography Skil boks etc. have categories to be linked to
Should we add this https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Gloves category to Navbox Items?
I think it's a wrong model? @proud cobalt @digital helm? Should be white? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:BucketFullPlaster_Model-old.png
C.f.,: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:BucketFullConcrete_Model-old.png
Also is there a blue model of the empty bucket and bucker of water, or are these just the icons?
Yeah, that is the concrete texture
I'll check
I think I marked it with reupload once, but maybe I'm mistaken 🤔
If we'd be really anal about it, all these could be exported to be the same angle, but they don't appear on a single page anyway 😄
Also, I know that splitting water containers is really down the line following the liquid system change in b42, but because of that https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bucket has some duplicate sections.
Also I think it could be worthwhile, if the bucket of water item will be come outdated, while the regular (empty) bucket will be used for example as a last remaining item (so empty bucket + liquid inside)
When I replace/add one texture, I tend to do them all because it irks me 😄
point 1: are you talking about this (screenshot)? It was all automated, so can be manually fixed. I don't think the script will be run again.
point 2: I agree it'll likely be bucket + liquid. I think the history for water bucket would/can be merged with normal bucket
nah, I added the history table myself now
if I did it wrong though, feel free to correct 😄
Also not sure when it was added, but must have been before 41.78 logically, though I can assume it should be 38.30 at least since that's how https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bucket_of_Concrete#History and plaster one
at least. I know it was long before that though, just not sure when.
Ah, I see. Not sure there's really a right way right now, so that'll do 😄
btw, I think the animation models could be split from https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Category:Item_models – also not sure if we have naming scheme for the animation models in style guide?
I've been adding _Animation lately, since _Anim was already a thing
Not sure why it would be split from that though
would be nice to have all animated models in one category and all the on-ground ones in another I guess?
Though I kinda wish the animated and on ground models could be shared by the game. Originally I though that by the time all items would have models they could appear on character's hands in game, maybe it's planned eventually, but a bit big task for TIS to do 😄
At least we'll get dragging of bodies in build 42, not sure if anything changes about generators (or furniture)
I get you now. They'd both be in models, but maybe 'world static' or just 'world' and 'animation' models?
animated and on ground models could be shared by the game
this would make things simpler
wouldn't it be better like that btw?
<div>The Project Zomboid wiki with NUMBEROFARTICLES articles ( in English) since .<br>Please feel free to contribute by creating a new article or expanding upon an existing one.</div>
Probably. I just slipped the word 'English' in there and called it a day
Feel free to change
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Project_Zomboid_Wiki updated (with a link) as well as sandbox. Other languages are not yet updated with these
I like that. Getting content pages is probably better than all pages
Most if not all wikis focus on these 😛 Especially since now we don't have to hide the small amount of pages we used to have 😄
Thats way better 😄
We look like we know what we're doing
Ok this is what i thought. I confused myself. Ill look into finding pages that use the the same icon and model image, or have model and not image
Side note, Satisfactory 1.0 came out and they've moved off fandom (to wiki.gg). Fandom are undeleting pages so the editors have slapped outdated on every single article, and the developer is threatening to file DMCA claims for use of their images and logos unless fandom stop their bs
I think pz wiki is one of the few to be independent from the start?
Particularly rare for indie games. But many have gone to fandom and are now desperately trying to go back
PZwiki started as a community project before being adopted by TIS. Now its hosted by them but still maintained by us
I think the timeframe of the game helped too. 2011 was such a different internet
Pretty much what I've thought
And its even rarer, since usually it isn't supported by og creators as much
Good on them. I wonder why you don't see that more
Usually, unless its on the another wiki farm, all of the server upkeep bills have to be payed by wiki admins
I think thats the case with the Jojo wiki
I believe its the same with out affiliate https://fallout.wiki
The mediawiki backend is a pita too. That and the upkeep costs are why many people opt for sticking with a wiki farm
Speaking of. I wonder if wiki.gg makes languages easier for them?
https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/fr/wiki/Jalon
Cant see any language plugin
https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Special:Version
But i do see scribunto
They also have a copyright disclaimer for game assets
https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/File:Conveyor_Belt_Mk.5.png
A lot of interesting extensions there. Maintenance must be painful
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:RegexFunctions
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Variables
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ParserPower
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:MyVariables
Was talking to @languid kayak about this recently. Planning to add something similar for non-TIS images
Yeah not a bad idea, especially if we're automatically parsing images from game data. DId you say recently you had a better way to upload models? Or something like that
That's interesting for developer to chime in. Undeleting pages by FANDOM happened in the past (and is often the case)
Just with msupload https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:MsUpload
Add files to the current category, if the page being edited is a category page.
This is how I do all my uploads
FANDOM came at around similar time, but TIS decided to host the pzwiki.net at one point (and they do to this day), similar happened with blindcoder's map
Doesn't help that FANDOM aquired Gamepedia at one point, too.
yeah exactly 😄
but yeah, still later, April 2011 for us June 2011 for them.
Funny how the main page says that:
173 articles since June 2011
Sadly outdated as of Janurary 2022 but feel free to help out!
Starting to clean and refine as of April 19, 2023! All help appreciated!
Kinda feels bad for people contributing there 😦 https://projectzomboid.fandom.com/wiki/Special:RecentChanges
oh actually, it's just been spam it seems
No one has seriously edited since October 2023, by the looks of it
Why would you, when there is already a superior version that has no ads, active support and independence from the shitty wikifarm
I'm surprised it was that recent. pzwiki has been more up-to-date even when it was seriously outdated
I think it's mostly people who already use another FANDOM searching from zomboid from within. Thankfully FANDOM is not showing first for search results, other wikis have issue with that, that's why extension such as https://getindie.wiki/ exist (which I wholeheartedly recommend having installed)
good to see our logo too 😄
I dont think that its much of a problem with our wiki due to how outdated fandom one is
Satisfactory still shows fandom before wiki.gg
That's why plugin is handy
second one is from https://www.wiki.gg/redirect
Install wiki.gg redirector to find the best resources curated by the community, available on our game-developer-centric wiki platform
btw @proud cobalt seems the bot generates wrong links for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Spiked_Pickaxe_Handle/it model, just replacing the last one before removal
Would have used the English version
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Spiked_Pickaxe_Handle&diff=511535&oldid=500827
all changed now, so should be good I guess then 👌
I replaed all items marked for deletion, looking for missed ones now based on what's on tasks, seems that https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=File:WaterBottle_Model.png was replaced by https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:WaterBottleEmpty_Model.png by accident?
There was the potential for that, since both models were in the infobox. The list we got would've said they both needed to be moved to the same place.
I fixed some of them, this one would've been missed
fixing it rn
First live article with autogenerated image cycling https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Nutritional_values#List_of_nutritional_values
The function I've written makes this really easy, so will be used a lot more
It seems that the script can't handle well the pages where there are two variants in one page @proud cobalt? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Water_Bottle/tr&action=history
I copied the English ones for now: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Water_Bottle%2Ftr&type=revision&diff=511567&oldid=505343
was similar with other pages too.
Water bottles are fixed now, but umbrella has issues – https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=File:Umbrella_Closed_White_Model.png&redirect=no&action=edit&redlink=1 is missing and the opened ones are not used – will fix it by hand shortly:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:UmbrellaWhite_Model.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:UmbrellaBlack_Model.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:UmbrellaBlue_Model.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:UmbrellaRed_Model.png
oh found the closed white one: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Umbrella_Closed_Model.png
Okay, fixed @digital helm could you check whether the names are correct now? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Umbrella
Also the language pages seem to miss variants, e.g., https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Umbrella/it
There's something wrong with the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Model_Magazine.png and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:TVMagazine_Model.png – also not sure which item uses which model?
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:SquidCalimariRaw_Model.png is not used following the moving as well
Seems they've been overwritten https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Squid_Calamari
as usual, the non-English pages can't handle multiple variants 😄
some typos in the table indeed too, like requesting to change https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:HankPic_Model.png to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:JamesPic_Model.png
nvm it's the same as previous one lol
These three are named wrong too (not listed):
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Model_EarMuff_Protectors.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Model_EarMuff_White.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Model_ScarfWhite.png
And finally there are some unused models, some need names adjusted, else they need to check whether they are duplicated or can be added to pages:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:ShoesTrainersBlack_Model.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:ShoesSneakers_Model.png (future, see https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:ShoesSneakersRed.png)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:BulletMold_Model.png (future)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:BoxingHeadGear_Black_Model.png (future, see https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:BoxingHeadgear_Black.png)
~~and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Snackcake_Chocakes_Model.png~~ (it was some error)
I'll try to settle these (finding unused ones and seeing how magazines are in-game), maybe take a look at the model ones, just going out for a bit.
With that in mind, I guess it'll mark the model renaming task done in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tasks or are we missing some @proud cobalt @digital helm?
I'll then be moving to hopefully clearing https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_requested_for_deletion – there's one new task added for replacing https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:IndustrialFridge.gif if not I may do that manually, it's just 13 pages 🙂 More will come once I get to tiles though I bet.
I also know that you've been working on automatically extracting models, I wonder if it'd be possible to extract or at least list them all? There are some unused models and some WIP ones and the majority of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Image_improvement_needed is missing models.
Models should be added to non-English pages infoboxes. A lot are missing the models.
The https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:BoxingHeadGear_Black_Model.png is from an unimplemented item along with https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:BoxingHeadgear_Black.png – we're not listing it anywhere including https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Boxing_Head_Gear_(disambiguation) – do we want to add it? So far the only links to items that aren't in the actual script txt files is this: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Insect_(disambiguation) mentioning the Honeybee and Wasp
@digital helm I think the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Magazine_Model.png is not the model for magazine?
It seems the newspaper model is different too? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Newspaper_Model.png
Also trivia states that Journal shares model with newspaper, but we're leaving the unused model in the infobox? Might be confusing for the readers to notice a different model is ued when placed/found: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Journal
I guess these three would need decisions from #pzwiki_editing message settled. Clothing is complicated 😩.
In the meantime, I guess we could at least move _Model to the end.
Also @proud cobalt if you're adding pages, mind changing {{location table to {{Location table so we could avoid renames in the future?
Well, I moved these and updated the tasks page: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=PZwiki%3ATasks&type=revision&diff=511665&oldid=511657
BTW, are we at the stage to move https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Evolved_recipes to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients yet, or are we still missing something?
It's now pretty much https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Recipe_list and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients that are preventing animations from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_requested_for_deletion
Would be nice if Recipe list could use cycle-img, though the whole recipe list is having a lot of old outdated links 😩
Anyway, any help in getting rid of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_requested_for_deletion is much welcome 😄 At that point, it's mostly these two templates and non-English pages for the satic PNGs
@serene sage are these two good for removal now? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Mid/sandbox/survivor_stories_bloated_mid https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:Mid/sandbox/survivor_stories_original
think so, those articles were done a long time ago
I think we could make placeholders in recipe list similar to https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Roasted_Vegetables&oldid=478171&diff=prev ?
Fixed the names. Should be it's just 'Umbrella' and 'Closed Umbrella'.
I'll have to fix the model priority. Currently StaticModel is last, but maybe this should be first. Open umbrellas have a closed umbrella as their WorldStaticModel, which is why the model images were wrong.
We used Magazine_Model (animation) for the normal magazine because the WorldStaticModel texture/model was messed up, iirc. The TV Magazine uses the TVMagazine_Model as the WorldStaticModel
The models had the wrong names, which I've now fixed. Will just take a minute for cache to update
Currently the script (unsure if @proud cobalt uses it directly or partly) only grabs one model (and item id). It only grabs all the icons, for that one item id.
Remember the new pages the script creates were only supposed to be a starting point, they won't be perfect
This was because the item id in the infobox was wrong. Calvy's scripts refer to that when determining what should be on a page. Fixed it now
Don't pay too much attention to clothing. These should be skipped over. These will need to use texture names, which I'm still working on
Once I get the model function finished, I'll get a list of the model(s), page/item name, and item id. Should help with seeing what is missing.
I think we're fine to leave it for now, unless you're really itching to add them. The model names may need to be changed too
See #pzwiki_editing message we went over this one quite a while ago. The world static model for it didn't make much sense, so stuck with the animation model. We were going to wait until b42.
Newspaper model was also the animation one. Models from 2020 were all from animations, since world static models didn't exist yet. This can be updated though.
Again, that would be the world static model. I'll clarify the trivia.
Thanks. They would've had Model at the start from before we standardised it, and I forgot whether I was putting it at the front or back previously 😄
@proud cobalt for that one.
I haven't really had a proper look at it, but it looks good to me. I know we were just unsure about the ingredients table
Still planning on doing it. I was hoping to look at it this weekend. Will see if I have time
Thanks for doing all those models! If the above were all the issues you found, I'm surprised there were so few 😄
I've modified the template and js function so that this is now also an option https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Roasted_Vegetables&type=revision&diff=511777&oldid=511717
Although it ideally needs to be separated as they have different hunger values
Thats 5,500 articles to change, how important is that?
Catching up on messages now
I might have time at work todat, will try get these done if i do
Thats basically what it comes down to. So long as the information in the infobox is up to date they're serving their purpose
Some issues with models was due to the way the replacement script works. It's very hard for it to know what is part of the model and what isnt. Thats why StoneAxe.png got changed to StoneFireAxe.png because it saw Axe.png and the mapping was Axe.png to FireAxe.png
Just needs a few fixes and polish #pzwiki_editing message
Oh thats great thanks
I want to die. I was translating "Trait" and when I was almost finished, my internet crashed and the page restarted to its original clean state.😭😭😭
So i'm thinking that i'll split the ingredients on long pages into generic categories, rather than game categories. So meat will include all types of meat, whereas in-game meat, poultry, seafood etc are different
So they wont be 1:1 with game categories but make logical sense
oh right, I forgot they also have animations after all
nah, can be left unused, no big deal 🙂
yeah, I remember; just forgot about the animations like I said before 😄
yeah 😄 Unless I missed something obviously, but seems not (some entries in the table were doubled, but that wasn't really an issue)
not really; just for the future 🙂
aww, that's a shame; browsers keeps stuff that survive browser and system crashes nowadays (used to be much worse back in the day), but when I write something longer then I use to make either a local copy or more commonly now, just DM it to my wife (though a chat with self/own Discord server for safekeeping, or just some google/dropbox works).
If it's not terribly long though, I also sometimes peridically ctrl+a +ctrl+c to at least keep it in the clipboard
I changed the format of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Controls/es to the new one to one step closer to replace both https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Leftsidehud.png (which are directly icons now) and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Dashboard_4043.png (which uses a new version with different numbering). There are four pages using both that needs pretty much the same: French, Japanese, Brazilian Portugues and Turkish currently. We don't have translators for the first three, so I'll see what I can do, but if you'd be up for the Turkish one @robust latch, here's all the changes I did for the Spanish: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Controls%2Fes&type=revision&diff=511867&oldid=489295 (feel free to take a look at version history, as I did them in party:
Before it was like that (I kept the translations, just had to move them, but some things are new and would require translations: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Controls/es&oldid=489295
I ll be fixing controls/tr at some point in near future, knowing some vehicle changes and other changes, I had put Improve tag at the time. Just dont want to do it right away tho. Also controls/tr needs some comparisons with new translation file we have. Basically leave it to me 👍
Yeah, I think the English Controls is fine by now, I might do one sweep to make sure everything's up to date (should be), so far I marked the French Japanese and Portuguese as outdated and updated the intro section to remove mention of some build 3x stuff 😄
I'll probably finish https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Options and I have the bit you mentioned about the Vehicles page at the back of my head, too.
Got it man
btw, I cropped your https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Controls(ru).png to match the English one @lucid junco
I also think we should have some standard for naming the non-English counterparts of screenshots @digital helm as currently there's no such thing 😄
English name (xx).ext or English name/xx.ext maybe? Then they'd be put into the same category as the English one I guess? (that's what I did with the Russian controls screenshot)
Have you also deleted the old .jpg one?
no, just noticed this one when I was editing it, you can link to it so I can remove it, if not I'll get to it when browsing the recent changes I guess 😄
btw @digital helm you have something immediate planned for the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Vehicles page itself or is it just vehicles' pages alone?
That whole page is a little chaotic and like Ksilem said in #pzwiki_editing message some bits from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Controls#Vehicle so maybe I'll at least try to do some minor changes
Took a while, but here's the list of the most visited pages by title (English or not) from the last 30 days
Wow, man

it's sorted by non-unique-views
Okay, thanks
Now I need to find time for it...
Probably, I won't be able to translate more than 3-4 articles a month. It would be great to train some AI to at least translate repetitive parts😩
Build 44 is way higher than it should be. People are too eager 😆
Actually, I'm having a second thought, maybe the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Controls#Dashboard should be moved to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Vehicles instead? It probably fits there more and used to be there before, see https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Vehicles/es#Panel_de_instrumentos and before that in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Vehicles_Guide/es#Tablero
Is this infomration only accesible by You and Vail?
Pretty much yes, as well as Kirrus of course, and maybe some TIS staff. I mentioned it it one of the blog posts and Kirrus mentioned it being added back then here on Discord, too. Though the actual numbers are not to be shared as per Kirrus' request
Thanks for sharing this, something I wanted to know time to time but never really felt like asking it
Not one Turkish article in the 500 most visited pages is kinda sad tbh
Maybe ignorance was bliss 😄
I was expecting atleast 1-2 Tr in there, be it main page or something
1,6% of visits from the last month was Turkey though, I guess some might navigate in English though
Yeah I mean if I was a proficient English-speaking Turkish reader, I would also navigate in English
Simply because TR isnt complete at all
OK I will translate Life and Living then
easy solutioın
But Life and Living article has to be changed to show format instead of date in my opinion, BUT seeing as its undoubtedly the most visited page I think I should get some ideas from you first
Like it might confuse readers when it gets changed maybe
It's a page that's been sitting in the back of my head, but it's one of those high traffic pages that are hard to tackle.
Though probably better now than after build 42 I guess. Though I think after build 42 there will be more feedback, as that's when the old players will come back to the game and spark interest to friends and other players who might be new to the game and go to the wiki.
Is not complete, but in pristine condition besides 25 or so improve&outdated articles
cough and 1404 translation needed items cough
We both agree to change it to show format then, If I didn't misunderstand?
Please use sandbox before making any changes to life and living
Alright, I shall start with a sandbox
Cheers, that way everyone can see what you mean and be happy with it before editing the busiest article on the wiki 😄
Okay, with that in mind I moved controls (dashboard and vehicle radoal menu) back to vehicles when it'll be more visited I guess, with the links in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Controls
I also did the first sweep of cleanups for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Vehicles – the refueling and towing sections could use new screenshots and some reorganization probably, maybe I'll do the screenshots next too.
That means that you'll have some updates to do @lucid junco in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Controls/ru sorry about that 😄 Although it'd be a good time to move and delete any remaining bits from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Vehicles_Guide/ru to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Vehicles/ru while at it.
I'll try to settle the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Vehicles_Guide/es following that change too and maybe tackle the French and Japanese ones along with the controls so it'd be just the Turkish left 🙂
good idea nevertheless, but we did so many main changes over the last two years that went largely unnoticed that I wouldn't be surprised we could touch even that 😄
Or be like: Bruh
Whaatt??!?! How could you?! Now I have to waste 5 mouse clicks!
We should organize PZwiki-sponsored mouses then 👀
Ok i've gone through all of these pages and tried to categorise the ingredients logically, as well as standardising wording and formatting while at work. I think its pretty much ready to remove WIP and start working on redirecting to here. But ill put it up for discussion. I think any other format changes can be done live. Sticky column would be really nice here @digital helm
Category: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Evolved_recipes
Main page: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Evolved_recipes
For me it looks much better, for comparison here's the current monster we have https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients
I'd say merge it and then redirect https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients but I wonder if it should be redirected to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Evolved_recipes or https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Evolved_recipes#Ingredient_values directly? (Though I think just redirecting to page should be okay)
There are also these:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients/es
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients/fr
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients/ru
And to a lesser degree:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients/ja and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients/pl (Polish is just some bits that were leftover and I didn't straigh up delete, but I can translate the page if needed teoretically)
I guess we should keep the old format for time being or maybe just remove some parts from them, leaving the text?
Russian one is also outdated, too
I think I'll add cycle-img to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Evolved_recipes#Recipes when time permits too, and replace the ones in the individual pages
Also, I know most split recipe pages are WIP still, but we will have some redirects left, from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Item_list:
- https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Bowl_of_Pasta&redirect=no
- https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Bowl_of_Rice&redirect=no
- https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Bowl_of_Stew&redirect=no
- https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Cooking_Pot_with_Pasta&redirect=no
- https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Cooking_Pot_with_Rice&redirect=no
- https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Hot_Drink&redirect=no
- https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Saucepan_with_Pasta&redirect=no
And @proud cobalt in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Evolved_recipes#Recipes the Recipe name is the name in code, while the Description is supposed to be the context menu entry, right? The description seems to be a bit different than the ones shown in-game though (Create Fruit Salad in-game, Make Fruit Salad in the table)
Also, the hot dog icon in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Evolved_recipes#Ingredient_values is wrong. And for some reason it's not sorted alphabetically, not sure if that's intended
BTW @proud cobalt not sure you realized, but you link to item and not items in the page. And in autogenerated pages the link point to Item/pl or Item/it and Item/tr but not to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Umbrella/ru in autogenerated pages, see:
With that in mind, however, @digital helm do you think we're finally at a point to just move (over redirect), after no real harm with skills and traits and occupations
Items → ItemVehicles → Vehicle
andTiles → Furniture
?
There will be more, mostly for item sub-pages (Weapons, Tools, Bags) and tiles (Appliances, Lights, Tables), but we can decide this after seeing how moving those big pages goes
Here are all the pages that link to Item (not plural) https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Special:WhatLinksHere/Item&limit=500
Are we sure we want to move tiles to furniture? Not everything is a furniture
I don't think we'll ever be dedicated enough to cover more than a few basic tiles though, so would be better to move on movable ones instead
on one hand, I'd like to rename them sooner, but OTOH I can't force myself to update the https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Tiles properly 😄
it was artificially bumped with a few minnor edits, but the data is from build 41.65 or so
(and I never completed it)
I now removed link to PZ map project which is linked on the sidebar and covered in its own article. The image linked was just https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Muldraugh.png
The old description was A very handy map of the in-game world created by Benjamin 'blindcoder' Schieder (@blind_coder), where you can drag around and zoom into specific areas. Different points of interest are highlighted by blue circles, which can help you pinpoint where your character is and different destinations, as well as letting you set your own custom pins which can be used to mark looted locations, safehouses, or personal points of interest. The map is constantly updated with each map update along with having popular map mods like Bedford Falls, New Denver and Over The River – was wondering if anything could be pasted into https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Project_Zomboid_Map_Project but not sure if there was anything worth salvaging (the page needs some love, mind you).
The link to the GitHub script is part of https://github.com/stars/Faalagorn/lists/pzwiki-scripts (so far I linked it in my user page, I did mention it on Discord, but never pinned, maybe we can make it more visible or organize better, but that's where scripts belong) and did some cleanups.
Now it's mostly three links from Undeniable as well as one extra character planner and PZUnpacker which have unique links – not sure PZUnpacker is something we want to cover as TileZed serves better purpose nowadays. Related files:
- https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:PZ_Unpacker.png for the unpacker and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Zomboid-calculator.png (all contributions were from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:Contributions/Ator – not sure if it's the author). Are we want to keep them somewhere, if so then where?
As far Undeniable goes @spark portal you have anything in mind? We can make a dedicated page for Undeniable on wiki with these three links, even if just to archive.
Collection of random scripts that can help PZwiki in some way or another: https://github.com/stars/Faalagorn/lists/pzwiki-scripts
(pinned now :))
@proud cobalt Honey icon is wrong too, e.g., in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Beverage_(mug)#Condiments_&_Spices
(btw spices should be lowercase :P)
icon is updated now 🙂
@proud cobalt added animations to https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Evolved_recipes#Recipes – not sure if all the starting ones are correct though? Feel free to check, if not I should (hopefully) get to it someday™
now, besides https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients and the language variants, the last place where animated gif icons are used are https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Recipe_list with just these three scheduled for deletion (though it uses animated gifs for tiles, too):
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:BreadAnima.gif
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:MugFullAnim.gif
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:MugAnim.gif
I think something like Controls_RU.png
Nothing immediate, only in an "I'd like to do that someday" state at the moment. What I'm planning is for the vehicle infobox and the table list of vehicles.
I think what you've done with controls here is good
I'll try to look at sticky columns this week. It's just that the stylesheets are a bit of a mess, after all the changes to vector22, which needs to be done first
Yes, I think we're better off moving them now than when b42 drops.
I think the furniture page would be dedicated to furniture/moveables (these are in the furniture category in-game?), but keep the tile wiki category. There's not really much to say about non-moveable tiles
I was looking at recipes yesterday, unfortunately I ran out of time. That's my priority right now, so hopefully I get it done today. Working on it on Recipe/sandbox
Okay, the last 4 links to Recipe Ingredients (uppercase I) are talk pages now: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Special:WhatLinksHere/Recipe_Ingredients&limit=500
Moved Items → Item now; if hells freeze, that's on me 😄
I just used the names from the code
They are in the order of the evolvedrecipes.txt i believe
Fixed hotdog in the table and added to a list for final checks in articles
Actually its slightly deviated, soup and stew are first because they're more common to make, beverages are at the end, and similar recipes are together, e.g. pasta/rice burrito/sandwich salad/fruit salad
Yeah seems to just be a difference in the translation dictionary, ill make it Item now for russian
Both added to the list to update
sounds good
Sounds like we're happy to start moving over to Evolved recipes than. I'll finish this polish and get started on that today. I'll also move links to the new page. Home sick again today
@languid kayak This has me thinking if we should bring back the language bar. We got rid of it because it was added to the sidebar, but now on default skin, the sidebar is hidden in a menu. So now I don't think it's very clear that there even are other languages. This may even help with getting people to help translate. Your thoughts too @naive imp since you had some interest in prompting people to translate.
I was looking at this template https://wiki.qt.io/Template:LangSwitch which is incredibly simple. This would also ease the transition if/when we get the translate extension (adds its own language bar)
Ahh the lifecycle of wiki. It never ends 😄
Constantly going around in circles 😆
Feels like just yesterday
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Eggplant&diff=245275&oldid=236437
Ok the following has been completed:
WIP removed from main and sub articles,
Links to recipe ingredients moved to Evolved recipes or directly to food pages
Recipe ingredients changed to redirect,
Template updated,
Remaining links
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:WhatLinksHere/Recipe_ingredients
That was scary
The main page will need to be updated with the new link
(I fixed the honey manually btw)
This indeed seems simple, and yeah, on Citizen the languages are pretty much hidden 😩. Maybe it'd be a good thing, just requires updating all the pages, though can be botted obviously.
done
now it's pretty much these:
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients/es
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients/fr
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients/ja
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Recipe_ingredients/ru
(I deleted the Polish one yesterday)
I think my biggest reason to remove it was because we were using/sandbox for a lot templates, and I just wanted to move on #pzwiki_editing message 😄
Only issue that I have with bringing it back now is that it's another thing we stick at the top of the page. So I'll do a mock-up and see how we feel
I think I'll just move them and replace gifs with animations for now, maybe just not at this moment, unless someone want to work on them immediately (and we don't really have es, fr and ja translators)
I'll finish off the recipe template changes, then take a look today
Tool tags in Recipes are now cycling images.
It uses tool_tag# (where # is 1, 2 or 3) which must be the tag with correct capitalisation, e.g. Hammer or Saw.
In the template it's just:
{{Tag_{}}}<br>{{ll|{} (tag)}}
So we rely on the tag template https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Tag_Hammer and tag page https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Hammer_(tag) existing
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Recipe is now readable too @proud cobalt 😆
Ingredients aren't cycling images yet. Unsure if they're needed
Looks good, i remember i couldn't get it to work properly unless it was a dupster fire 😄
I'm trying to add multiple tools with tool tags as an option and it's quickly turning into a dumpster fire
Can the citizen display the sidebar on default, for non-users? Maybe it is something Kirrus can set? Idk at all.
Nah, it'd require major changes to the skin
I was never a fan of the languages in the sidebar. On vector 2022 they're incredibly small and not obvious at all that they're even there since not a lot of people use the sidebar that I speak to personally
(I use vector)
Definitely in favor of bringing back the languages template and making it a LOT more obvious
Me too, initially.
Personally, I think we should keep the language bar, I feel like it's more obvious and would be a smoother transition for users when we move to the one from the extension.
Seems we really only went through with it to make way for the sidebar template
Decided to scrap the multiple tools with tool tags, Will have to come back to it another day, maybe after b42. What we have works fine for now.
Here's an image of what I was doing, before and after.
I did make it so we can use image cycling for the product though. e.g. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Beverage_(mug). I also cleaned up recipes using a GIF when they didn't need to, then deleted them @languid kayak
i was thinking to update it with whatever the new popular item mods are these days. but i'm not sure what mods would "qualify". I've been told Britas is one, but have not confirmed any others yet
Only ones I can think of are firearm mods like Firearms B41 and Vanilla Firearms Expanded. Both got like a mil subs
But they don't have a massive amount of items though.
Pros-cons 2:Electric Boogaloo
If not a lot of people use sidebar which is already present on the screen, just imagine how many people dont use menu on the default citizen
Exactly
There's a reason translations have lulled
Sometimes even one extra click can segregate huge portion of users
That's probably the reason why Wiki's "Citizen" has language buttons in the header
And not as a part of the menu
I think we had second thoughs how translate template would solve it, but that is not so quick if at all 🤔
Wikipedia works very different to us. They have a different site for each language, which is more work than it's worth for a small wiki like this, both to set up and maintain the back-end. We might be able to simulate something like this on the front-end but that'd be more long term. Also probably wouldn't be compatible with the translate extension.
I'll set up the language bar as a quick 'now' solution and see what we think
This is the exact reason we ended up showing the 'technical' section of the infobox. The one extra click was tedious for some
ah, indeed, I didn't realize we finally did this, though it seems that for other pages such as survivors that's still not the case: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Kate_Smith
Yeah, it was only for items iirc. Should we do it for everything?
The first 2000 fixes of location table had the wrong summary... Don't edit while sick
Btw you may have already noticed but still announcing here if you didn't: I am changing English categories to LL links. https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Fork&diff=prev&oldid=513609
I am adding categories to TR pages, might add to Italian, Polish and Russian in future but I wonder now that we will at some point have smth like 15+ languages added to the wiki, is there a way to add the extra categories automatically to the autogenerated language item articles? Because if not I will only help out Russian and Polish since they have both reader and editor traffic, and leave Italian and others.
It would be possible yeah. Maybe we can copy the contents of the English one and just slap a 'translate' mbox
While also keeping the translation base Calvy gave and automatically adding /xx to categories at the bottom?
Oh or the bot can run to LL'ify the categories in English pages, rgiht
Still I must admit I think the base structure of language items are looking good and isn't very daunting for new editors. I think hunreds of english pages slapped with trasnlate mbox isn't healthy
Oh, I was talking about creating the categories. That we could do with a bot by copying the contents of the English category
I think using ll is fine for categories if it makes translating quicker and easier
My past self included this is definetely the case
This too though. I haven't had a chance to dabble with my bot yet. @proud cobalt might want to look at doing that though. Unsure if that'd be simple or not
Oh, I mean creating categories is no problem, its the manual categories on the bottom that the script dont add to the pages themselves
In any case I will do this for Turkish and LL'ify the English links
And after I am done maybe even Russian too, then Polish
ah, gotcha. Maybe it could be done by copying the English page, especially if they have ll. Maybe run it to change all categories to ll then copy it @proud cobalt
<@&1205891296565268520> we've updated the version of the skin on the wiki, which would've reset your preferences in the cogwheel menu, as that had a lot changes. You'll have to redo any changes you've made
Should be doable, might look at it tomorrow, and changing cats to ll
I now updated undeniable wiki to version 41.78.16 , new textures and all:
https://undeniable.info/pz/wiki/itemlist.php?sort=Version&DESC=DESC
Why did i get a tag from this?
You are apparently a wiki editor, see your profile
Oh God
Can i remove that myself? Not sure why thats there..
You have it selected in channels and roles
You can remove it in channels & roles
I think it gives you the role if you choose for when you join the discord, I have that role too, and it annoyed me for a long time but I didn´t know how to remove it, until now.
Thanks guys! Take care!
Uhh
Sometimes this ping just troll me, expecting the thursdoid.
Yea it happens. Not super into discord so not sure now it all works yet lol

is that vector 22?
Thats citizen
I got tagged over this? Wha
Youre in the wiki channel so you get wiki pings
Oh, it's cropped
I'll look into it. Seems it's just for system dark mode
yikes

I added it as a bot task; not sure if anything prevents it from being automated?
haha, was long overdue 😄 But bettr late than never 😛
Well, we do get monthly wiki summaries shortly after Thursoid too 😛
i just noticed the foraging system has changed alot since i last saw.
im gonna re-do the function for reading that from game files and display that as well on undeniable.
looks like you get different items depending on various areas, traits and even occupation etc
This should be fixed now. CTRL + F5 if it hasn't changed
yeah, it's eris' foraging being implemented after 41.65 I believe?
I guess this is correct? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Skill&curid=2183&diff=521767&oldid=472039
Yes
suprising we have it unnoticed for some time 😄
yeah, by the time I translated skills/tr it didnt occur to me wrong too
I think I saw that, didn't think too much about it either 😄
i updated undeniable to read the new foraging format.
it was interesting to see the results.
all foragable items:
https://undeniable.info/pz/wiki/itemlist.php?wherein=forage&pn=1&cat=0&type=0&SEARCH=0
and was interesting to see you can actually FORAGE a big hiking bag with very high foraging level
https://undeniable.info/pz/wiki/item.php?Name=Bag_BigHikingBag#loc
btw, I noticed yo use an old PZ logo for undeniable 😄
old: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:PZ_Logo.png
new: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:PZ_Logo_New.png
big hiking bag is indeed an interesting item to find
There are some items that can be obtained only through foraging now btw
I kinda reverted those edits before: https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Woodcraft_E2&curid=49409&diff=492907&oldid=490449 – I think linking to generic page would be better, especially as links seems not to exist now? @robust latch
I've wondered if a dedicated page for each of those shows should be added. Then describe in more detail what all the shows are/add and when it can be watched on TV along with listing VHSs. Or if that'd be too much 🤔
Started this with the bot, also ping @digital helm and @languid kayak
Let me know if you know of, or see any pages in any of our languages that are total english or empty stubs. Even if we dont have an article translation we should be able to have the infobox with the right item name that updates
Looks like it should be burden
Probably
Though its still would be factually incorrect since she will only send Bob to hell if he smothers her at the very beginning
I'm not sure ive never played it
Neither did I, but wiki does clarify that
So Id say that it would be more correct to say "send bob to hell if he smothers her at the beginning or apologize for being a burden later in the game"
Yeah it's 'burden'. She says something like "I'm sorry I've been a burden". Because she has a broken leg and has been slowing her down
Oh, yeah "sorry I slowed you down" that's it.
The "see you in hell" was only at the VERY start, which almost no one did. You more likely to accidentally smother her by clicking on her with the pillow in an attempt to make her more comfortable. Since the pillow was in the wardrobe along with a sheet to bandage her wound.
@proud cobalt, Can I just translate the article on the wiki or is there any difference?
#translations message
"Oh nice, a pillow to make Kate more comfortable"
Smothers her to death
That was exactly the Dev's evil intention 😆
This is to automatically generate all the item pages, which is intended to make it easier to translate. As all the generic stuff like 'header', 'infobox', etc., would already be added
I'm talking about the infobox article.
I ask if there is a difference between translating an infobox or txt-document
Wiki translation .txt is used to generate articles
It only affects articles that will be made by bot
Infobox translation will affect all* pages infobox
Both that are currently made, or will be made
Ah, nah you can edit the infobox directly. That was only included in the document for those not comfortable with editing the wiki, especially a template
Ah, got it
crossed my mind too, actually
burden, yeah. You could probably watch some videos with the tutorial played out still (or download a free demo from back then :P)
Oh thats a good place to start
Are we happy for me to mark currently abandoned language pages like this for deletion? @languid kayak @digital helm
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Wooden_Crate/de
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Spiffo's/cs
Why can't some article be found through search?
Do you have an example?
You have to include Template: in the search
Yeap, but where is the "item"?
😂
There's lots of infoboxes
As they say, whoever needs it will find it😂
Search will only search the main namespace, unless you specify it. For searching templates, categories, etc. It's probably better to do advanced search, which you can go to by pressing enter without typing anything.
This'll take you to Special:Search
Wow
I'm happy with that. I think @languid kayak added them initially so the links would be translated. But I think having red links are better than a blank page, to avoid frustration from users
yup, go on
I will
I left off with food category last time and there is this: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Perishable_food. @proud cobalt, seeing as 200 food items in this category, can the bot add Category:Perishable food to the equivalents of these pages in other languages?
Also, perhaps more importantly, is the perishable food category here to stay?
Thank you very much
Yeah, perishable and non-perishable are here to stay. They're intended to help users find those food types. Arguably more useful than most of the other food categories
A secondary category, in the same way as we have wood, metal, and fabric materials https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Materials
All the categories are changed to ll now, but i havnt added the categories from the english page to the subpages, thats a little more complicated
At least they should be ^
Bruh reaction to bleach in drinks categoryu
Why not
just your regular drink 👌
I wonder if following build 42 liquid systems you will be able to drink petrol and hair dyes 😄
(I think you will)
How many calories is petrol 🤔
7,887 kcal per litre
Roughly 10 burgers for yall 'mericans
huh, by removing empty pages we got a lot of broken redirects 🤔 https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:BrokenRedirects I guess we should remove them too?
Yes lets burn those pages
you mean the redirects? The ones marked for removal are gone 😄
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bowl_of_Ramen_Noodles this could use solving old crafting template, especially as it's auto-generated in other languages
or wait, actually it's just English + https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Bowl_of_Ramen_Noodles/fr
This category does not exist in English btw? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Category:Autogenerated_articles_(B41)/it&action=edit&redlink=1 https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Autogenerated_articles_(B41)/tr
this seems to be all in English too https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Player/de
Also, following the movement, there's tons of links linking to Items (probably more in non-English pages): https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Special:WhatLinksHere/Items&limit=500
Is the plan to have the Code section always formatted like a table? Example page: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Stretcher_Bed
I do not think this is the appropriate way to display this data, and while the old code block style was maybe a little less readable to the average wiki user, it is by far a more useful way to show the data to modders and people learning to mod
Maybe I'm wrong, but I also don't think a table could even handle all the definitions lol, is it really a flat key value pair system? I feel like the format supports arrays and sub-objects
Correct, doesn't need to exist in English
Tile 'code' works entirely different to items. You can check these values in TileZed
As a modder myself, ik some items can go with a fuck ton of tags, notably guns lol
A flat way of showing seems impractical
This is how we show code for items. What they posted is for tiles
Can editors remove excessive tags?
There is no reason to have all of them in some cases
If a bed isnt a container, then whats the point of showing its capacity, position, freezer capacity
Or that it emits light
Ah ok nvm
Most of the tags go either into infobox or code snippet
Or both
Manually yes, though there are 700ish pages. Im looking at a new way to parse the file and have made more progress than last time
i want to write an article about which zombie functions syncs and what doesnt but i dont know how to use the wiki
i only know how to edit pages
You can just copy another page entirely and edit it to your liking
If you know how to edit, you definitely know
at least basics of page creating
You can also look on other pages and pick out things that you like, then copy them to your page
how do i add page?
you can also use the sandbox page for testing things
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/User:your user name/sandbox/xxx
Like other said, it's for tiles/movables only. I think we could figure displaying it somewhat else, so the scrolling bar is acvoided @proud cobalt? More verical than horizontal.
if values are free, I guess? Though ideally it'd be automated. script files omit entries that aren't present either (in that case, e.g., where weight is not defined, it defaults to default value), only some fields are mandatory there. Not sure what happens with tiles, but I think default values are applied too? That's why some disassemblable tiles use(d) carpentry for moving and results in wood after disassembly
See https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Help:Creating_a_new_page – screenshots are from old skin (I'm gonna update them, somday™ unless someone beats me to it, since we have a new skin version now), but the info should still be correct
Going back to this @digital helm you think we should remove the broken redirects? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:BrokenRedirects following the removal of pages? Though they'd have to be manually recreated when page is created, and I'm 100% sure we won't remember it all that by the time it happens
item/tiles redriects are done automatically nowadays, but the regular pages are all manual
Oh true... These ones wouldn't have game translations, so maybe we should keep them? The item list pages shouldn't be too long before they get added, but pages like Cortman Medical may never get created 🤔
Maybe we leave the list pages (Item, Electronics, Vehicles, etc.) but delete the rest?
as in these will get automated shortly?
We already removed duplicated items btw, but If we'd automate the item list that could save us some trouble as some item lists are terribly outdated 😄
Yeah, I've been working on getting the lists autogenerated
This is entirely in English, nuke? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Weapons/zh-hans
@digital helm there seems to be something wrong with the tooltip for ammunition in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Legend_firearm it shows default=Ammunition for me
Looking like we might have Spanish soon, just waiting on some more translations
I guess so 🤔 but it also doesn't do any harm, plus the title. Should have the translate mbox though, at least
I'll make note to take a look at this. On mobile now, so can't see tooltips
would be nice, Spanish was one of the more active languages
Removed it now
There's something wrong with includes in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Weapons/es#Cargadores – seems it included firearm magazines, but now it includes magazine disambiguation page. The page fell out of date due to recent changes for Weapons though
Yeah I remember back then it was my main competition
This one's outdated but links are terribly wrong; pages point to stuff like https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Журнал_«Посібник_з_ковальства_1»/uk&action=edit&redlink=1
This one broke somewhat; with no link everywhere
I changed the icon and color of https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Template:Deletion following the plan to use in-game icons/images for https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Mboxes – feedback is welcome if anyone has a better idea for color or icon!
All the animated item icons are replaced by the new cycle-img class 🎉
The only remaining things remaining to remove at the moment are https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Dashboard_4043.png and https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Leftsidehud.png from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Controls/tr and new wiki admin images listed in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tasks#One-time_bot_tasks
What is this car? https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Base.ModernCar_ez.png
Is there any point keeping these? All are unused (if you haven't figured already, yes, I'm cleaning https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Special:UnusedFiles again)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:PZ_Bachelor_Pad.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Sandbox_Options.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Trailer_Homes.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Custom_Recipes.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Burnt_Church.png
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Lamp_on_Pillar_Article_Img2.png
Dash Elite it seems
Do we need these types of screenshots showcasing an item? There's more in the pages, these ones are not used currently
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:PoliceCrashHelmet.jpg
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:PrisonJumpsuitKhaki.jpg
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:SurvivorMagnum.jpg
huh, I always though it was CalvyBot forgetting to remove the newline after removing == Summary == or the File uploaded with MsUpload, but it seems it was @digital helmbot https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=File:JacketSantaRed.png&diff=127429&oldid=99149
Removed them from controls/tr to make way for deletion
Looks like it doesn't transclude a firearms page like the English one. The firearms for Spanish are all on the weapons page. https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Firearms The English one transcludes the Ammo to the firearms page, which is then transcluded to the weapons page.
That would've been from the move from Tr and T
I think the icon is good, but the colour doesn't really say "DELETE" to me. I get that the colour is to match the icon, but should it remain red for this?
It's a model in the files that has the doors which can be opened
can go back to red, especially as I changed red in some other mboxes
No point keeping them imo
I don't think so. Especially the magnum one, which you can't even see. If we did, I think they'd need to be cropped a lot. Or have the screenshot from the info screen
That was something that AWB did when adding categories. I guess that was the standard for wikipedia?
as in adding empty line on the top? Well, we do not have them elsewhere, so when I add new categories I'm removing them 😛
It would leave an empty line before adding a category. I guess it didn't check if there was any content, and it just assumed there would be
in comparison, Vibrance's bot edits were not adding it 😄 https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=File:ShortsLongAthleticBlue.png&diff=176327&oldid=101079
is "onlyinclude" superfluous here or what?
it's for including in the items page
btw @proud cobalt when you'll have some time, there's some image to replace in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Tasks#One-time_bot_tasks – that'd be the last things from https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Category:Pages_requested_for_deletion for now (before I move to tiles)
But it doesn't seem to be closed
In that case it doesn't seem it's needed. Either <onlyinclude> is used to wrap the content you want to be transcluded, or <noinclude> is used to wrap the content you don't want to be transcluded. Looks like noinclude is being used there instead
are you sure it's not closed at the end of the page though?
Possibly. But the location is kind of strange. However, I can't check now
I suppose i should count myself as a contributor to project translations 🤔
What's our end goal with the item pages. Do we want to expand to all game supported languages? Do we want to only start with languages that have had a start on the wiki? Would we include Japanese, which was last maintained as far as I can tell <2014? Just wondering when i should slow down.
you can point me a link to the page, I'll check too when I'll have time next time 😄
yup 😛
As far as Japanese goes, We had contribtor back in 2023 it seems https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:News/2023#Japanese, but nothing major yeah. IIRC there's a separate Zomboid wiki in Japan, similar with Chinese (the chinese gets more love though), as people are not font of the western internet and they use something different than MediaWiki.
Other than that, we can add all languages that were created, as per the table in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/PZwiki:Project_Translations
I generally added whenever they were existing pages or people who wanted to contribute
There's a Finish speaker and some guys wantint to improve finish translation popping from time to time, but apparently finish translation is based on some machine translation and is of low quality.
Oddly we have had one Afrikaans editor, but the game isn't playable in Afrikaans IIRC, the translation files are there but incomplete
and Argentinian Spanish is mashed with regular Spanish, as there are two translations in game. Doesn't make it easy.
Was the case with pt/pt-br before it turned out all the pt ones on the wiki were pt-br, similar with chinese prior to splitting
This is some kind of chaos
It's ending near the bottom of the page;
</onlyinclude>
Got it
Usually, it stands at the beginning of the text it affects, but in this case, it is placed at the end of the text, to which it has no relation :/
nah, it makes only the text between <onlyinclude> and </onlyinclude> to be included
Hey @proud cobalt, I dont know if this was talked about before but would it be possible to add a distribution table for annotated maps? Could this be possible, are they technically acting like regular items? ,
If the process is something complex, thats completely fine as this is low priority I'd say.
Yes, I know
They could be built manually, currently the script doesnt make them (and i have no idea how they work). I'm looking to refresh the distributions in B42 as i expect changes and fixes and (hopefully) some cleanup
Wait
That was a total lie
I have distribution files for each item id. so Base.MarchRidgeMap Base.MuldraughMap Base.RiversideMap Base.RosewoodMap Base.WestpointMap Base.LouisvilleMap1 to Base.LouisvilleMap9
Let me know where you want these to go ^
I've updated the wiki bot updater script so that it will fix names unless the id starts with Base.VHS_ or Base.Disc_. Could someone that knows more about these explain how they get their names? Is it the other id? Where are these names stored? @robust latch @digital helm I think have spent the most time with them 🤔
I think Ksilem tested that each map can spawn only once; kinda like VHS I guess?
Aren't those the regular maps though? Not the annotated ones?
Those are the ids used on the annotated maps page. I assume each map spawn has a chance at being an annotated map? Along with all the other ruels that go into spawning them
I'd think so yeah. May require deep dive to the code
I'll have to get back to you with more detail, but it uses an XML (I think?) called something like rec_media.xml, which has an item_name value, which is an ID that maps to the translation.
It might also use subtitle ect. But I can't remember
i don't remember the full detail but it's a massive structure of nested lua tables
at least the vhses are, i don't remember ever seeing where discs were handled
Yeah it's Lua. XML is the radio data.
@proud cobalt Here's a description of it I sent to Ksilem some time ago
If you use both recorded_media.lua and Recorded_Media_XX you should be able to get the correct, and consistent naming.
In recorded_media.lua every line has an id:
itemDisplayName gets the name that the item is displayed as, and used in the infobox name
title + subtitle would be the page name. So we need to do title + subtitle
For Albert Wellen QC (and presumably other items) the subtitle is the same translation id as "VHS: The Moderators S2.01".
So, you would need to parse recorded_media.lua, then translate the IDs parsed from that with Recorded_media_XX. For python, the output you would be something like:
# this is just the parsed/translated data
media_data = {
"itemDisplayName": 'RM_f369383a-ebf1-49bd-8b5f-b8d8c6f3c2b7', # translated: VHS: Albert Wellen QC S2.01
"title ": 'RM_5b05e367-fef3-497f-9ae9-af1796b7aa35', # translated: Albert Wellen QC
"subtitle ": 'RM_222a5eeb-8eab-4138-bc65-56bc5c94f7df', # translated: S2.01
}
name = media_data.get('itemDisplayName')
title = media_data.get('title')
subtitle = media_data.get('subtitle')
if subtitle != 'nil':
media_title = "{title} {subtitle}"
else:
media_title = title
So for Albert Wellen QC S2.01 before translating IDs:
name = RM_f369383a-ebf1-49bd-8b5f-b8d8c6f3c2b7
media_title = RM_5b05e367-fef3-497f-9ae9-af1796b7aa35 RM_222a5eeb-8eab-4138-bc65-56bc5c94f7df
After translating those IDs:
media_title = Albert Wellen QC S2.01```
I think blair mentioned somewhere a year or so ago that more items will use similar stuff, I guess literature. I think it's the same mechanic annotated maps use, though I might be mistaken? Not sure about mods too.
Hmm interesting. Looks like something that could be parsed. I'll have to look into this so I can remove the blanket ban on editing VHS and cd pages
Likely newspapers and such I assume. As there will be lots of variants
I am thinking about a location table in https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Annotated_Map would be fine. The fact that they only spawn once on a single container or zombie makes them Home VHS-like so idk what result could the bot provide. Btw I must ask are those map id's annotated map id's?
It would be recorded_media.lua file I reckon
Oh you already answered this, mb lol typed before reading below
This should be the Elvee arena, Elvee as in "LV" (Louisville) https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Eluee_Arena
Fixed and added to trivia 😄
Also moved images and fixed navbox
New version of item id dictionary on gdrive now. Includes the latest splits
thanks for noting! Makes much more sense 😛
Finally saw a corpse in a trunk
I was going to look at it too, for updating and translating the transcripts, but didn't get around to it yet. Something that parse it so we can grab the data we need would be ideal. Like the item parser
Congrats! Buy a lottery ticket too
Spanish pages going up 🎉
Got that 0.00 something %
Remember finding the corpse on the backseat of Derry
Thought I was misremembering things untill Ive checked the loot table
I don’t understand why not just make all links to articles through {ll|} instead of []. Also, I don’t understand why sometimes when a link with {} is written in lowercase, it doesn't get translated and appears like, for example, weapons/uk. So I have to write some links with an uppercase letter, and then write the translation after | in lowercase. This defeats the purpose of {ll|} :/
As a person who can't help but optimize everything around, it hurts to look at this😭
The more ll is used the slower the page loads
What? Why?
Template usage has to be processed by the parser every time a page loads, this takes time from the server to process. There's also a limit of what the parser can process which was the issue we ran into using ll for navboxes
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Post-expand_include_size
This essay describes the MediaWiki parser handling of the resource known as the "post-expand include size" of the text passed from templates and other transcluded content.
The post-expand include size is the sum of the lengths of the expanded wikitexts generated by transcluded pages (e.g., templates and modules), parser functions, and variables....
We saw an average increase of 1.5+ seconds on every page load when using ll for every link in Navbox items
[[]] is not a template?
Damn
Nah it's not
😩
[[]] is wikitext which is a markup language
Understood
Spanish up
won't do; he already used up all his luck 😄
btw @robust latch another page with images to replace would be https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Vehicle/tr
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Tow-a-Car-PZ.jpg (replaced by https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:VehicleTow.png)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Siphon-Gas-From-The-Gas-Station-in-PZ.webp (replaced by https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:VehicleGas1.png)
https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:Fill-The-Car-With-Gas-in-PZ.webp (replaced by https://pzwiki.net/wiki/File:VehicleGas2.png)
(Actually, thinking it through, I should have hovered over options for the text to appear 😩)
So the item id is wrong, as this editor has found. As in game the code uses moveable while the american spelling is movable. I will fix the item Ids now but which do we prefer for in article?
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Cash_Register&curid=51903&diff=541789&oldid=425449
Also Sarah got back to me with translations so pt-br items should go up today
Been mixed up with that one before 😄
This makes things interesting #translations message
I don't understand who and how will be doing the translation...
A company will be paid to provide the translations
The game is growing
I hope it turns out well, and not so the translation will be done by people who are not connected to the language in question at all
It surely wont be worse than what we have now
Russian translation used to be so horrendous, I dont know how someone looked at it and went "yep, thats good enough"
Bass (fish) - Басс
Sun fish - Рыба(fish) солнце (sun)
It was thankfully fixed by former translator, but tv / radio station translations are still plagued by what feels like a bot translation
Or else I dont know how can you interpret "run" as "going somewhere" in
"Hi my name's Frank Greene, and I run Greene's Grocery."
Well, since the translator community is essentially no longer needed, they could transition to wiki (those who are not yet translating articles).
Especially since, when b42 is released, half of wiki will become outdated.
I was surprised the feedback generally positive, people are often very pessesive about community stuff, but some languages were long overdue to be updated, and all that remembering of existing translators is really nice!
Posting it here for those that missed it btw; really good info by Ksilem that was tackled in the loose discussion before! Also pinging @proud cobalt just in case you want more insight on the annotated maps: https://pzwiki.net/wiki/Talk:Annotated_Map
Also, I saw someone mentioning https://projectfluent.org/ for the translations news this thurstoid, leaving it just in case too
I think those are supposed to be random? https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Radio&curid=227&diff=492377&oldid=491891
We cool with me adding the new official art to the St Peregrin page? Because you can see the hospital map on the wall above the crawler saying St Peregrin
I'd be happy with that
Is this a case of supposed to be random but actually isnt
They are
Just like with AEBS
Though now someone changed it, Im unsure if they are
why not? Here's the full res https://projectzomboid.com/blog/content/uploads/2024/09/image-115.png
Wow, b42 looks amazing
Your brain is ai fried
Though the more I look at it, the more I see things that are off
its definitely been fixed and there are elements which were drawn (i think) but stuff like the background survivors, the pills on the floor, the zombies, the guns, its all wacky
its got that softness ai images got
this was comissioned by indiestone, not inhouse, so whoever they comissioned used ai i reckon
could open them up to trouble if its copyrighted
that fog in the back
But the gun looks really melty
Just because m16 is in fog doesn't make it suddenly loose its distinct look
And the pills are.. There for some reason?
They haven't fallen out of the package or the bag
Im curious whats that map on the wall
I dunno if that'd point to it being AI, the artist was probably just thinking of how to make the floor look more trashed and so they drew a bunch of pills lying there ors omething
St Peregrin's map.
Yeah I don't think they were basing it off an ingame asset or anything, it's just that the artist probably thought to include a map of the hospital on the wall
its not that one thing, its the combination of things
all put together it looks very suspect
as i said, its defo not entirely ai drawn but it looks ai "assisted"
and the bag of "meds" looks nonsensical too
cant point out anything, why would an artist draw unrecognizable blobs
I dunno, is this channel rlly the place to be discussing that though? And also maybe you're right, but also what if you're wrong? I'd kind of feel like a dickhead just randomly saying that about somebodies art
its not, but I was pointing out my concerns
In the day of ai imaging, its a valid concern, especially when it looks that suspect
The artstyle between the faces of the survivors is incosistent, the zombies all have that noseless default zombie look, in addition to the earlier stuff
its gonna be indiestone in trouble if this turns out to be ai, cause of steams policy on ai assets
Well I doubt it was AI since they've had this artist for quite a few years now
how do you know who it was comissioned from?
I don't know who they are. Just that when someone asked, Nasko said this was the same artist behind the artwork of Baldspot standing on the car.
did he? didnt see that in the blogpost so
Said it over in news discussions.
Well, its their thing, hope it really wasnt ai and im plain wrong
Meanwhile, we’ve also commissioned a load of new art similar to our primary ‘Bob on Car’ image that everyone knows so well.
Implied pretty heavily in thursdoid. The people at TIS are smart enough to create their own Ai art, rather than commission it.
"comissioned art similar to" is not "comissioned the artist who made"
anyway, i saw naskos message in the discussion
also, they literally said they comissioned it, what do you mean "rather than comission it" lmao
nvm i misread,mb
Hey. I noticed that such pages(infobox/navbox) are usually not translated completely, but only this part. So I have a question, do I need to translate all, or just this?:
Just this, then call the normal template. So you'd use
{{Infobox item
Rather than
{{Infobox item/uk
And it will automatically translate
Not quite understood... Should everything else not be translated at all, or is there simply no need for it?
No, there's no need to translate anything else
@languid kayak
100k words mean 80k or so are purely recorded media and TV&Radio channels right?
Now that we have a sample of whats to come, what do we do with adverts like this
So far the plan is to create and categorise flyers
But we have to see all of them to make a foundation or understand how to start
Alright, this significantly reduces the amount of work. But I hope I won't miss anything important this way. However, if anything comes up, I'll let you know😉😉😉
Is it necessary?
no
No only copy the how to translate part
Its actually more than just an leaflet/advert
It also reveals the location of the place on the map
which is useful
Just checked it - only aebs is random
Its for food, whether something is better eaten hot or cold
The chance of the durability of an item going down
Ааааа! okay, cool, thx
I noticed the Adaptative Traits section in the Trait page was a little lacking, so I divited the "Strenght/Fitness" table into 2 and also added a new table in the weight paragraph for better visualization
I also did the same thing for the Brazilian Portuguese page, which also contained old traits in the list and didnt have the Gallery section
I'm not sure if I can just do all that, I'm kinda new here, what do you guys think?
I finally translated 'infobox itemʼ, but I have a feeling something is off. Can someone check if everything is functioning as it should?
#translations message I mentioned it yesterday
Hi yall, you may have noticed that I've dropped off the face of the earth lately. I figure I owe you an explanation. I'll just keep it short.
I've lost my job extremely unexpectedly and have had to go into panic mode. I've scaled back a LOT of stuff. I do still want to edit the wiki, this isn't a farewell, but I will be on hiatus for some time. I will edit my user page to reflect this.
I would also like to retain leadership of Locations and Maps, I'll be back. Just figured I'd let yall know what's up.
Good to hear from you and sorry for your job situation man. Hopefully it all turns out well for you in the end.
I think you can %100 do that, why not?
what about it? We have rural farming confirmed at Irvington from precious blog (also Irvington name cofirmed again)
no worries and no rush, take care!
Looks good to me. I put @robust latch's addition inside of the documentation template too. It shows english atm but i think thats cache. It shows the correct translations on pages
I need help editing a header in the wiki
This yellow header in the Brazilian Portuguese wiki basically says "This article needs to be translated" but the problem is that it on itself has a spelling mistake ("presisa" instead of "precisa"), but I can't fix this on the edit page button, and also all pages with this header have the same typo. Anyone know where to fix this?
It's on the template page. Here's the link
https://pzwiki.net/w/index.php?title=Template:Translate/pt-br&action=edit
awesome! just fixed this, thank you very much!!
No problem, this was the translate template. You'll find we use many template for repetitive uses
that's cool, where can the other templates be found?
Theres a large amount of templates. Theyre in the template namespace and start with Template:
