basically towards the Eranog ring, as it seems to be a bit confusing.
ANY fire damage procs it.
So The heead enchant, Grieftorch, Shadowflame armor patch ....

A good way to think of the ring is as a regular ring, with the proc effect as a bonus.
The head enchant will not proc the ring as much as possible,
BUT it isn't necessary the best option to optimize for the ring proc.

e.g. a shadowflame armor patch will proc it more, but the mastery you get from BSL is in general worth more dps than the combined gain from shadowflame armor patch + the additional procs on the ring.

So, the easy solution to evlauate is just using a simulation.

You should check out Whispyr's very detailed explanation for every scenario, but here's summary, specifically for your question:

  • Garrote and Rupture (Rupture at 4+ cp) spread from stealth to spread through Indiscriminate Carnage
  • Slice and Dice if not up after
  • THEN you choose a main target by Mutilate-ing and Caustic Spatter
  • FoK if you are in 3+ targets and use 4+ combo points finishers
  • keep CT on 4+ targets
    Only then do you go into CDs on your main target with Caustic Splatter (DM>Shiv>SD>KB)
