Hey, so I've been working with classification and detection models for almost a year now. Have worked primarily on Inception v3, Resnet 50 and EfficientNet as well as YOLO and FastMOT. I've got an adequate start, but I'd love to know if there were independent projects that could boost up my resume for this profile as I have been looking for a switch into more research focused companies that could give me an exposure in this field.

There are lots of great places to start, but one of the most straightforward from Kaggle is the Titanic Competition which will get you into the swing of modelling. From there you can work up to our featured competitions. Having a project to work on can be a great way to motivate yourself to learn all the things you need to solve the project.

between the 3 kinds of grandmasters on kaggle, what is the frequency of each kind and anecdotally what is the difficulty in obtaining each?

Competitions ountnumbers the others by quite a bit. Anecdotally competitions is the 'hardest' in terms of skill needed, whilst the others might be argued to require more hard work in terms of amount of content you need to create.

Hey guys thanks for the help! Lol 2 weeks later and finally got somewhere in the spaceship Titanic challenge. Now my model is trained and is 78% accurate. But now im stuck, I don't know how to deal with the missing column that should be predicted in the test.csv 🤣😅😅 please any suggestions would help. It took me 2 weeks to get to this point and now I'm totally clueless

There is no way to get that score by applying only machine learning techniques. This dataset is public and test targets are known if one is willing to do some digging. Those with perfect scores are simply submitting known values rather than actually modeling the dataset.

Hey, I have to forecast the temperature.
The dataframe that I have had indexed date column and the temperature column.
Also I have daily data not monthly data.
I tried fitting SARIMAX using the seasonal order (2,1,2,365), since daily data but it's taking too much time.

Great question, thanks for asking. The official policy is that important competition insights and discussion should always be in the competition forum or specific competition discord channel - so no you cannot discuss those things in the language channels.

It is however fine to discuss general questions, look for a team, help translate competition rules, discuss general machine learning information, or anything like that in language channels.

Recently, I've decided to design an individual development plan (IDP) aiming to review my knowledge about Machine Learning, starting from the most important part: mathematics. Having a strong mathematics foundation allows us not only to use machine learning algorithms but also precisely modify the algorithms to fit the problems.

Why I'm telling you all this? My process of learning starts by taking my notes by handwriting on my tablet and then transcribing them to my Obsidian. I strongly recommend the Obsidian as your note-taking app and to be used as your second brain. Having said that, I've decided to post my notes from my obsidian on Medium! If you have any questions about how to get it working in your Office 365, feel free to reach out. Excel and VBA was my first love language and it was my go to for all things data. But upon persuing machine learning discipline, I realized that Python was just better in many ways. I need some help. For our visual model, we are experimenting with both tf serving and fastapi. We send a batch of images to the visual model that then create the embeddings, so we were comparing the results. I did some experiments and noticed that on the single image tf-serving is faster, it takes about 0.8 seconds while fast_api 1.3. Whereas if you run it in batch (I tried with 4 and 20 images) On the memory level actually if you calculate embeddings on the single image fastapi requires much less memory (600MB compared to 3GB) however if the batch increases tf-serving is better. Also it seems that fastapi cannot deallocate memory well and so if you make multiple calls the memory keeps increasing. It seems to do this only when the input is large for example if I put 100 images the first run reaches 4GB of RAM the second run reaches 8/9 while tf-serving stays on 4GB. From these results seems that fastapi would be the best choice.
We are missing something?

where sir @clever pivot teaches us deep learning using TDA.
TDA (Top down approach) is a nice approach for someone who is trying to learn hard stuff on their own.

Can anyone please help me with this?
Yesterday I completed the Titanic disaster competition where I learned preprocessing and different ML techniques for classification.
I wonder if anyone could help, after comparing different techniques the XGB was performing best with 84.92% accuracy but still, my score in the competition was 0.75. This accuracy is higher than many contributors and they have a score of 0.77 or higher. How is this happening?

I often see people report CV scores when talking about their models. I assume this refers to cross validation. Does this conventionally refer to an average across all OOF predictions based on N fold CV or just the validation set of a single fold?

Sharing the link to a small hack for switching between my windows desktop and Kaggle
My Problem: I want to do some basic experimentation with a Jupyter notebook on my Windows machine. This lets me have long periods of musing, without the Kaggle kernel switching off automatically. Then I want to take my notebook to Kaggle and run it there. But then, file paths change and I have to manipulate the code. I want to run the notebook directly after uploading it to Kaggle or downloading it to windows.

I found an amazing Youtube Channel which have precise and sometimes detailed information on the ML Kaggle Competitions and Datasets. The problem is, Gabriel haven't posted in the last 2 years and was wondering if there are similar youtubers that are doing the same thing as he was. you don't load images into a dataframe, it's not a suitable container for images. Try looking at the tutorials on pytorch's website on how to handle this sort of data, or if you are using tensorflow they will have similar functionality

Hi, if you go to the settings gear down by your name on the left bottom corner, you should see the ability to edit both your display name and your username. You will need your password for a username change. Some servers you can just change your display name within the specific server, but I believe you can't here. Hopefully that is helpful :) edit: and also I think your Kaggle name shows here by default, so I think you would actually need to change that from your name for this server if that makes sense

I had the same doubt but a professor suggested not to go for books. Instead just get the roadmap and learn from wherever u can, yt, coursera,etc. Making notes might help
