Retail v Classic are really two different games. Retail is probably more new player friendly and faster. A subscription is all you need up to 60 on retail or for all of Classic. To go past 60 on retail, you'd need to buy Dragonflight when it releases.

There's no free sub. Technically, you can convert in-game gold to Blizzard Balance to pay for it, but that's not a realistic goal for most people.

I dont know what unlocked chromie but my GF just had a similar issue with Chromie as a returning player. We checked at level 30 and Chromie was unlocked. So maybe try Setting your hearth stone at Chromie and checking back periodically.

The way professions work since a couple expansions ago is a bit interesting
Say you're an alchemist but you can be trained only in Shadowlands alchemy, and it will go from 1 to 100 or 150 on Shadowlands alchemy only
Same for Dragonflight, you might be a DF Scribe at 150 skill but have 0 skill on the other expansions

And you don't need to skill in the previous expansion to carry on anymore

So i figured it out and it's very strange. If you have a skinning knife equipped in the new profession tool slot, and you skin, you put on the knife. But it's just visual, I could still shoot from afar like usual. You get a buff for it too, "Dressed to kill". Very weird.

All combinations are viable up to and including mythic raiding, and even mythic raiders and world first players often stray from any established--and often temporary--meta

whenever old items are very expensive on the AH either the seller is just asking a ridiculous price for no valid reason and the item won't sell or it might be a rare and highly sought after xmog item. if you really want to know you need to check wowhead for any hints of it being desirable and the price history and price on other servers in the undermine journal

i could list any item in the AH for 9 million gold, that doesn't mean the item is worth it at all

buy ultra rare or TCG Battlepets and then resell them on the "new" server ( very unreliable as sometimes they won't sell quickly )
Realm Transfer via in-game service and have the toon take a pile of gold with it ( at which point might as well just sell a token )

level 60 toon can make plenty of cash at times just doing dailies and old content, main trick is to get a decent AH addon so you can make sure you're selling things slightly under market but not too cheap

Nah, you only start out with 2-3 abilities and more get added on as you quest, I think she'll be fine. Even when she reaches 60, I think most of the talents for Devastation are passives; it's like a 4-button rotation.

Hello everyone. I'm writing today to bring up a subject that I believe being quite important at the moment. Blizzard's sudden decision to remove the Back from the Beyond achievement.
There are hundreds of people that are/have been stuck with the covenant games (especially the Abomination Stitching, which has been over time extremely RNG-based).
Personally, as I've played a class that has NEVER been Necrolord, I could only work on these achievements starting not so long ago, when we were allowed to freely switch covenant. Aside from this, I put most of my free time completing achievements, and as a casual player, very busy in real life (especially in the last year), this has been a very long trip, as long as the expansion itself.... and now it's all going for naught because I miss "Things To Do When You're Dead". The entirety of the other achievements are done, but they will be wasted effort because I won't ultimately get the Veilstrider, and like me, many others.
It's frustrating, and quite much too. I don't even feel like renewing my sub and buying the expansion to be fair, this has brought my mood down by quite a bit.

I've been Tweeting Blizzard about it and also sending suggestions in game. I believe that ALL people affected should do the same, so that Blizzard gets to know of our immense frustration right now.

I also believe that WoWhead's staff influence would be important in bringing the topic up and make it visible to Blizzard.

most people don't have anywhere close to what's needed for the FOS and out of the ones that do most have finished it, compared to those numbers the small intersection of "close but not quite" is not something that will justify losing devs from DF stuff to deal with

and in case it's came up... extending or removing the deadline? not going to happen because that sets precendent for removing every time limit and removed content item and folk like me will then start asking for Hand of A'Dal and Black Scarab to be a thing again

oh it definitely sucks and I feel for the folk who are literally snagged on a single/two bits of RNG reliant progression popping, that sort of stuff needs to get yeeted for a variation of mercy procs once it's close to ending so that you don't get locked out just by RNG screwing you over if you've done the rest of it or in my opinion for actual tasks for acheivements from "garrison tasks" it needs to be a rotation system so that unless you literally start too late for RNG to have done it anyway you can at least "catch them all" if you can do one each week or day or whatever

Hopefully you get lucky, hell maybe they'll do a "drag it into first 4 weeks of DF" or something

also 2 years for a laptop especially if you're not using at the minimum an airflow stand and preferably something with an assister fan setup on it can easily be dying if you've been pushing thermals all the time

there's a reason mine sits on a CM stand and I trim my games so I'm usually only pushing 70ish C at heavy load on a card that has a 87C T/Die

it could just be texture fails if your card is an older one and not quite up to spec for DF though those tend to be flat colour areas, but it could also be artefcating as the mobile iGPU decides it's giving up the ghost

Wrath - Go to Northrend and start questing in Borean Tundra or Howling Fjord
Cata - Various leveling zones throughout the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, with the endgame zones having quests starting somewhere in your capital or at its Earthshrine
Mists - Admiral Jes-Tereth in the throne room in Stormwind or General Nazgrim in Grommash Hall, Orgrimmar
WoD - Khadgar in the Blasted Lands, in front of the Dark Portal (Iron Horde phase)
Legion - "Broken Shore: Fight the Legion" from a warboard, and/or Recruiter Lee in Stormwind/Holgar Stormaxe in Orgrimmar
BFA - NPC next to the Hero's Call board in Stormwind or Warchief's Command board in Orgrimmar
SL - Darion Mograine in Stormwind or Orgrimmar

These will all get you starting in the leveling zones and the content for that expansion. If you want to do the "endgame" campaigns for each expansion you should focus on doing the leveling zones first, then the campaign quests when they become available and in the content patch release order for the lowest chances of questing and phasing conflicts

Each expansion typically has multiple campaigns, generally in order, that take place after all of the leveling zones. BFA for example has the three leveling zones each in Kul Tiras and Zandalar, then the War Campaign, then Tides of Vengeance, then Rise of Azshara and the Mechagon Rebellion, and then the Visions of N'Zoth campaign. Shadowlands has the leveling storyline campaign, then the covenant campaign, then the Chains of Domination campaign in Korthia, and the Secrets of the First Ones campaign in Zereth Mortis

Don't be That Guy and only do the leveling zones for an expansion and think you've "completed the expansion"

NP. Just remember that it's a live service game that's been up for 18 years, so there's a lot of content to do that isn't relevant anymore (since you only need to play current content to be viable in current content, unlike some other MMO's I won't mention). The best way to stay up to date while having the freedom to do the content you want is to get caught up with the current patch, and then go back and complete old content or tie up loose ends to your heart's content so that you won't feel like you're "lagging behind and need to catch up"

You can quickly get burnt out if you're trying to do everything in content order before getting to current endgame

It's correct that you don't start "from the beginning," but that's very much by design. you don't want to be forced to play through 2 decades worth of content before being allowed to play with other people, believe me

yeah you wont play wow from the very start. its not even really possible since in cataclysm the old classic content got reworked in some places and some things arent even available anymore. as a new player you start with Battle for Azeroth which is the 7th Expansion iirc

nah, not really. The thing with WoW is that while there is ongoing lore that continues world narratives/character stories, each zone and each expansion is sort of self-contained stories

nope, you can literally do nothing but the newest content and all you miss are older "looks" and anything like mounts that were only in that xpac

classes no but there are races to be unlocked in Legion and BFA Content. but dont worry about those for now. first start the game and get up to speed with how it works. once you are in the current expansion and know some things you can then start with the older content on a new character (or blast through it with your main) if you want. just keep in mind not everything is still in the game. its very fucking old now. things have changed

So when you start as a new player, you play through the Battle for Azeroth expansion (and experience its story)--at the very beginning you do have a little bit of being addressed as hero because it was written with the expectation that you've played through everything else first, since that's how it was at the time that expansion was new, but once you get into the questing it doesn't matter much.

You can always go back and play through previous expansions, plus you can choose to level through older expansions when you level subsequent characters (after your first one)

Honestly, I saw just go for the game. Lookup nobbel once you're a little familiar and want to know more about specific characters/locations/lore

It'll start you out on sort of "tutorial island"
