this is fairly common practice on the internet btw, and its a byproduct of fansites like wowhead becoming so large that they're picked up by large organisations such as fanbyte

It's a bizarre decision because a court in the Philippines, for example, can't enforce a judgment on a US company like ZAM.
So a concern like that would normally only be relevant for a multinational that has business entities all over the planet.
I doubt Fanbytes has an entity in any of the countries they blocked.

Do you think Greece has the enough traffic to overcome the expenses? They have 10 million population. Istanbul's population by itself is 15 million. Greeks and Turks have the same culture, so I think they're using adblock aswell, they don't buy Wowhead Premium since they don't have such good economies. I don't know I might be wrong but blocking access to these countries just because they can't profit from them is not a good answer either. Amazon Prime membership in Turkey is less than $1, do you think Amazon profits from Turkey? No. Sometimes profit isn't everything.

Curious here, WoWHead shows around 20% of players got the “Through the Depths of Visions” achievement but 0% of players have the mount it rewards, Black Serpent of N’Zoth. To be sure, I checked other achievements that reward a mount and the percentage of players who have the achievement vs who has the mount reward, the difference is around < 5%.

So what gives for that achievement and the Black Serpent of N’Zoth? Fat finger mistake on WoWHead’s end?

Filtering comments on pages seems to be misbehaving. Sometimes it makes the comment section blank, but if you change the Sort option it seems to disregard the filter if sorting by newest first.

Give me a specific page URL and then a step by step of what you're doing so I can try to replicate or explain the behavior.

Using https://www.wowhead.com/quest=27779/gnomebliteration#comments as an example. For me comments are set to sort by Newest First and by default (may be for everyone, idk).
Set Filter by patch to 9.2.0 and it works correctly and filters out older patches. Change it to anything else (7.2.5 for example) and it shows all comments from 7.2.5 to 9.2 with the newest on top, which may be the intended behavior? But at any point if you change the sort to Oldest First or Highest Rated, the comment section will go blank.

The issue seems to be with comment sections with multiple pages. If the comment would have been on the next page, you have to hit 'Next>' to follow the empty pages along until you get to the comment which would fit the filter

I just wanted to make a suggestion and I know it's hard but here's the thing

I don't feel very comfortable having a wowhead embed in my discord at this point because of the amount of spoilers appearing in headlines. I only have live news selected, but a lot of spoilers are showing up in those. When I see live news in that channel, I expect to see news about the weekly event, or a guide on how to use a new system, or news about the race to the world first as some examples. Not spoilers!

I get that sometimes it's hard to separate live news and spoilers because with sharing cutscenes for example, the line between spoiler and live news is very blurry. But I would like to at least see an effort made to perhaps add a spoiler tag to wowhead news. Like the tags live, ptr, hearthstone, overwatch, classic all exist. Maybe just add another tag for spoilers for ptr. Having leaks about 10.0 riddled in so many posts has forced me to not share stuff via wowhead as much because I'm trying to avoid spoilers.

Webhooks feedback: Not only I don't like Blizzard hook being force fed into all other hooks (so every message posted to Blizzard I've in several channels intentionally separated to diablo/wow/... ), but recently you started leaking WoW topics into Blizzard channel and now I got to delete WoW stuff from Diablo channels because of the force feed! Not happy.

Expected: Each of those (diablo, wow, blizzard) being separate and dedicated only to their topics. Blizzard stuff only into blizzard hook (which won't be force fed to others hooks), WoW stuff only into wow hook, etc.

It's easy to get confused by this mechanism. Our site prioritizes the version of the item that is most popular and redirects to that version (Retail, Classic, TBC). However, if you click 'Retail' at the top after being redirected it will force the page to the version you want and stay there. It will also remember your preference and stop redirecting you in the future (so long as the cookie/local storage preference is maintained in your browser, if that's ever cleared you'll have to click again once redirected).

You won't be able to fly with existing flying mounts in Dragon Isles. They will only work as ground mounts. In Dragon Isles flight will only be possible, at least at the beginning of the expansion, via the Dragonriding system. We received no definitive information regarding later in the expansion, nor would we expect to so early.

To my knowledge, Teelo never apologised or even acknowledged it - they used Git's tools to erase the history of that specific commit, and after losing the right to use Altoholic's original code and name, faded away until they resurfaced with this new add-on of theirs.

While I have no doubt they wouldn't be daft enough to embed something like that in their new addon right from the start, I certainly would not trust that they won't pull the same stunt again.

The raid composition tool on site does not seem to be updated. For example, the tool does not know guardian druid can enrage dispel, battle rez, corruption and poison dispel. Not sure if it was reported already.

Balance is also able to talent into Skull Bash for a potential second interrupt, but the way you would have to get to this talent seems REALLY difficult without giving up a lot. Furor is something I have never seen, but it seems quite bad unless we need to catweave regularly. If we need to catweave, you can catch me logged into my Hunter, where I will remain.

Something you may also notice is the ability to talent into Skull Bash. While it may look compelling, to have 2 interrupts, it is certainly a difficult node to path to. With both Increased Healing and Magic Damage (NNF) & Lycara's Teachings (NNF) being effectively mandatory due to the damage throughput provided, it is VERY difficult to get to the Skull Bash node without missing something of great value

That'll be up to the development team. There are technical reasons they wish to pursue these changes, as well as other optimization needs. Even within that team there are advocates for subdomains so rest assured all sides are being considered but in the end it'll come down to what makes the most sense for the overall site (and I'm pretty sure that's already been decided as subdirectories).

I've had these 2 webhooks set up for years now.
1 is for current patch news, set up in our news channel.
2 is for in-development wow news / spoilers / alpha, beta, ptr etc.

For the last couple of weeks there has been 0 difference between what posts are sent by these webhooks, and no changes were made on my end.

OMG, is it me or does all the new gear stuff look a lot alike. The druid set, oh heck no, and no on every level of no, if you remove the arms from the elbows down and the gear from the waist down, all I see is Boomkin, we glyph Boomkin for a reason, it is hideous. About the only decent set is the Evoker. All the rest will just get mogged over for the most part, its just way to thugly. Don't know who designs their gear, but they need to rethink it, no creativity going on, most of the gear is the same colors and similar patterns, not much diversity at all.
