The article recently posted that talks about what is unlocked each week in 9.1 appears to be incorrect. You dont unlock a chapter at 49, but at 50. Then another at 52. So week 4 (7/20) we would unlock 2 chapters.

It works just fine for me. Please make sure to turn off any extensions like AdBlock or Privacy Badger since they often break js scripts.

I'm using a non-standard browser (up-to-date, but non-standard, which is why I hadn't bothered saying anything prior; Firefox fork for what it's worth though) so I don't know that any logs or the likes I could provide would be useful and the site doesn't work in regular or safe mode for me. Worked fine with all the bells and whistles last night and nothing (not even an extension) changed overnight. It's happened once or twice before and un-happened without any doings on my part, but this is the first time it's happened right around a major patch. >->

Same here. Waterfox? This is what I'm looking at, with all blockers disabled. It also appeared the same way on my phone's Chrome app, until I manually updated it. I'm using Brave in the meantime and it works fine there. You might have to wait for an update for whatever fork you use.

Recently we implemented lazy-loading images on much of the site to conserve bandwidth and improve page load times. From the looks of your screenshot, your browser isn't detecting when an image is in the viewport and thus it doesn't request the image. I just downloaded "Waterfox G3.2.3 based on Gecko 78.12.0" and loaded the Wowhead home page and the images load as expected.

yeah we didn't mean to use that in JS yet, we use it in PHP a lot and it snuck in. I just discovered that to be the issue myself (after installing an old firefox version in a VM to figure out what's broken). a fix should be up within the hour.

we do intend to support older browsers for as long as we reasonably can (we only just recently dropped IE support) but on a personal note I don't have much sympathy for you folks who run browsers which are years out of date

For some reason, I cannot select a different channel other than the "guild-information" channel.

I have permissions to manage the server.

Hi there, hoping this is the correct place to post this. Was working on my OS gear for cat form and noticed that my hit chance does not seem to be correctly updating with the attack table in the gear calculator. Unless I am mistaken, with 8.12% hit rating the Level 73 creature table should be showing a 0.88% chance to miss.

I have some ideas for the gear planner to help tanks itemize. Would it be possible to have checkboxes for buffs/debuffs like MotW, Scorpid Sting, Insect Swarm, Greater Blessing of Kings, Grace of Air? These buffs can have a huge affect on tank tables by providing additional dodge, miss, etc.

Hello, last night we had a hunter drop a 246 legendary bow from heroic difficulty. Previously it had dropped at 233 from heroic and had been reported as dropping from 233 from all difficulties.

Why are comments by users that don't paint Wowhead in a positive light, repremanded by giving the user who made them a 3 day account suspension for "Vulgar, inappropriate, rude or obscene material" (the comment was, for reference Isn't this just stolen content for ad revenue / website views?).
I understand removing the comment, but straight up suspending the person, when the comment itself is not against your own rules and marking it with a reason that doesn't relate to the comment at all, makes no sense.

So, to clarify the question, why is a user suspended for something that isn't against your Forum Rules (https://www.wowhead.com/forums/topic/2)?

Just because I didn't agree with the post that was made, does not justify this suspension, surely?

I support Wowhead, but if I don't support everything that is made, I shouldn't receive a suspension for voicing that I don't support a particular piece of writing or a post.

Logged onto my PC this morning and my shortcut to wowhead client was no longer working. There was an update yesterday. Did it also move folder/delete itself? (I manually installed to my E: drive when I first downloaded it as I have limited space on my C: drive).
Edit: found it on my E;drive. Search could not pick it up for some reason (guess it is case sensitive).

Figurine of the Colossus has a 14% drop rate according to the wiki but I haven't seen it in 22 kills. If we use a binomial distribution with probability of success = .14 then the probability of not seeing at least one in 22 kills is 3.622%.

Yeah, if I use a different browser that's not auto logged in, I can view the page fine, but once I click on log in, it goes directly to the 500 server error. My firefox I normally use is auto logged in, so it instantly throws up the server error. Chrome, Edge, etc, as long as I don't click log in, I can navigate.

I have a question/conundrum that I'm hoping I might get more information about. I've always been a fan of Wowhead and want to support the site in any way I can. I've thought about installing the data collector for a while, but as an IT security professional, it gives me a little bit of discomfort having an executable agent running and uploading data from my WoW account. In particular, the option in the client to upload character-specific data. Can anyone tell me more about what is done with the character data? Can I choose to clear it from my Wowhead account later? What is it used for? I know the loot and location data is used by the site to populate drop rate information. Is there anything else I should be aware of with this? Clearly a lot of this is just having to trust them with this info, but I figured I'd ask around a bit to see what folks thought.

It should work the same was as Classic does, just on the TBC site... send me a DM with your username and such and I can take a look, but you should find all your TBC characters here: https://tbc.wowhead.com/user=YOURUSERANEMHERE#character-profiles and if they're marked as 'Visible' you should see the completion column in the database on quests to indicate that character's most recently uploaded data.

It's all anonymized information, except for the character data, which we don't do anything with as a site. It's entirely for your benefit for the various tools on the site that need additional information beyond what Blizzard's APIs provide. You can always turn it off and then delete any of the characters that have been added to the site and then the data associated with that character would be gone as well. You don't need to upload character data at all if you're not interested in Classic/TBC tools or additional features of the profiler for LIVE (like followers, heirlooms and toys which do not have APIs).

Character data being disabled doesn't harm the larger array of aggregated/anonymized data we use to update the overall database. The choice is entirely yours.

That is an ad unit. It plays videos from Wowhead when there isn't a video ad available to play to you. A video must be playing for a video ad to be injected.

Our Premium Subscription is designed to remove ads, that's its primary purpose, anything else is just a bonus. This isn't an unusual practice. We offer a free service to everyone and lock very little (if anything) behind a paywall. Those who can afford to, and care about ads, can have them removed with the Premium subscription such that they're not depriving the very resource they're using out of the money required to continue to exist.

Use Hulu as an example. You have two basic prices: one w/ ads and one w/o ads, the price increases for the latter. In our case it's free w/ ads and $2/mo or $9/yr w/o ads. Of course, ultimately, what you choose to do is entirely up to you.

If you're subscribed to the All News webhook, I don't think there's a way for us to do that. That webhook has a name, and it includes all news, so it's just called Wowhead News. I don't believe it's possible for us to have a different name with each push, without you subscribing to each webhook separately. If you have the Classic webhook it should say Wowhead News: Classic. That said, at the moment, even the Classic News webhook includes both Classic and TBC, so if you're wanting that further broke down that's not possible right now.

Correct, which isn't something we have plans to do. All news is the most prudent choice for our own server, but we do offer some customization options for your own servers through https://www.wowhead.com/news-webhook. We will also be separating Classic and TBC into their own webhooks within the next 2-3 weeks.

is anyone using the wowhead client on windows 11? Works on my win10 machine, but nothing happens when trying to open the client on my win11 machine. Also fyi the download link is broken, it points to "https://www.wowhead.com/https://www.wowhead.com/client/files/WowheadClient.exe" just gotta delete the first wowhead address

about 9 or 10 or so of my characters all on the same server are showing as red in the account list under my battlenet settings im not sure why, ive tried detaching and rea ttaching my bnet as well as logging an out of each of the affected toons an it doesn tseem to make a difference.

We have no control over that list. Check the profiles listed for you under your account profile and see if there are any issues with the ones loaded up on the site. The ones in the list aren't necessarily on the site at all.

oh okay is that because it pulls from blizzards end then and info on the back end in some form relating to those specific characters is something outside of wowhead website control so to speak?

Yes. We can't see that list of yours and it is sent over and updated via Blizzard's API if you enabled the sharing of character info when you linked Battle.net to Wowhead. Often times that list even shows long deleted characters.

As I understand it, yes, it's probably possible for us to see it... we just don't see a need to. You can just pick the ones you want to copy over to the actual site to use in tools/etc. We gain nothing by looking at your account's full character list is what I mean.

Yeah Edge seems fine, no virus or malware detected on my machine, doesn't happen on other websites. Seems like wowhead has some sketchy stuff going on lately. This is the first time this has happened.

is there an issue with profiles / item collection / wardrobe working correctly? for example, i cant see my mage has collected "Staff of Rampant Growth" on the wowhead item page, but my character in gmae shows the item collected. ive updated the profile on the wowhead site with no luck

scratch that, a PC restart let it run. there was no warning that a restart was required

The Wowhead client has disappeared from my computer, or at least where Windows thinks it's supposed to be. I know I ran it not too long ago and there was an update. Did the install get moved? I don't see it in my WoW addons folder anywhere.

exactly - ads shouldn't take resources. but having multiple tabs open, even with a gaming computer less than 6 months old, causes browser crashes.

so again - i state, you annoy me and cause computer issues, im not paying you. Rather than yea ill pay you cause you annoyed me... im more along the lines of FY im getting an ad blocker and revel in the fact you aren't making money off me. You could be paid if you provided me with something other than crashing my browser.

Its a statistical impossibility that im the only one that feels you should provide me with something, for me to pay you. Like i dunno offer me half the content and make me pay for half. im less likely to be spiteful cause you didn't cause me annoyances and browser problems. in reality a bad business tactic causes freeloading and someone being upset with how they are operating. ads are fine, do ads. thats fine, i get it. gotta pay for the site. but running a constant stream that will kill a browser in 20 tabs is just crap.

perhaps its my research habit, sure. but i tend to say follow a lead by opening multiple tabs. like where do i get this mount - open dungeon/quest line - open location of this - open location of that - open location of the next quest - open location of this npc - open location of that npc
etc etc, just having everything referenced to like 20-30 tabs and close them as i progress through my objective.

its just feed back - fix the streaming that kills browsers. and give me a reason to pay you. annoying me and crashing browsers is not a way to get me to want to pay you.

I haven't tried to put firefox on this computer tbh. I've used firefox religiously between windows and Linux on my other computer that i dual boot with. I've noticed over the years firefox became slower and had more problems while chrome got better and faster.
