I have a problem with the new cover option. Yes, it is still beta... and apart from the fact that easily 50% more or less correspond exactly to the original....
They always break off in the middle for me. I have a song that's 4 minutes long, and after 3:16 to 3:18 minutes at the latest it stops in the middle of the lyrics.

You will want to use a third party software for Vocal Splitting (better results than Suno's paid-plan vocal splitter from what I heard). Some of these are:

• Bandlab (online service, free plan includes basics vocal splitting)
• Ultimate Vocal Remover (run locally with a powerful PC)
• RipX DAW Pro

Ah, I see. From what I know, the only possibility at the moment would be through Extending (either from a song piece you had or through Audio Upload).

Mind you, if you vocal split and use the audio upload, that specific song will have the Public switch disabled, though it does not stop you from sharing the link

Of course, the rate of success is not that great from what I heard

An alternative is using a vocal swap service and replace the voice that way. I think kits.ai was one service? I think elevenlabs.io also does it

Yep, Audio Upload is like having Part 1 of a song uploaded. You will want to minimize the amount of silences though in that 6–60 sec clip.

It just cannot be set to Public (if a voice-like sound is detected) as a way to prevent Suno from getting into legal issues if someone somehow uploaded a potential copyright or other rights breached content (e.g. voice from a third party without their consent).

This, of course, stops the liability from the company and makes it worse for the offender as it demonstrates intent to breech copyright

Hello. Is the new Covers feature working for anyone with an audio you uploaded (specifically, a song sung directly into the microphone)?
When I try to generate the cover, it seems like it's creating two samples, but once it looks like it's finished, they disappear.

Alright, it works if you do it from a Suno-generated track. For that, I managed... something... if you sing the melody with the key parts and label the lyrics as verse1, verse2, etc. Then, you extend it. Once you get it to respect the melody, you can make a cover of that.

I figured you have to reupload whatever songs you uploaded before for them to work with the cover feature. Some feedback in case devs read this: It's very hit or miss (but mostly miss), usually it does whatever it wants not really resembling the original song and when it does get it right, it seems to become stuck repeating the same thing over and over. So far the Extend feature seems better to make "cover-like" songs.

That's why, at the time, uploading the song only worked for me when I did an extend afterward. I initially tried with one of the uploads (sung by me). Then I used an extend (from a song sung by me, which I extended so it would add melody and vocals), and that one (which was before the "covers" feature) did work in "covers."

I have been practicing as I said with great sounding "mistake" songs that suno made with babbled gibberish. I then write lyrics to match, sing along to, the melody of the babbled song. And running a few covers, I have gotten a new song with the new lyrics but a "similar" , if not exact, melody. The music instrumentation often changes though.

Strangely enough, I had a link to the song, and with that link I can still open the song. The song is no longer showing in my library, though, nor is it in my playlist any longer. Is there anyway to recover it to my library?

You can't text search for the song in the Trash Bin. I suggest check your first page, clthen click through, check your last page. Likely not needed to scan through the whole thing. Often, you , or i, have to wait a couple of minutes for it to show up after youve deleted it. If found, right-click and choose RESTORE TO LIBRARY.

If you have a lot of deleted stuff, maybe also open the link to the song and rename it to something obvious in all-caps or similar, so it stands out from everything else when you go looking through the trash

I recently had a song that was perfect... except for the way that the AI did my bridge. So I "extended" it prior to the bridge, got a much better take, then used the "Get Whole Song" to regenerate it. Such a helpful feature.

It's the only way within Suno I know of to try to make the quality a bit better anyway

Alternative Methods of Female Voice:

1. Extend any female voice in any song clip, with an Extend Time near the start of the clip, you just need a small voice sample.
2. If you your song, but the voice is wrong, it is possible to 'gender flip' a song with the Cover feature. Though that feature is currently paid accounts only.

HI. For those of you who know music theory, are there metatags or prompts you can use to tell suno what key you want a song? Also, when to change key. I know you can tell suno, minor key, major key, but I am wondering you I could be more specific.

No metatags do this reliably, though there is some influence on the song (not necessarily to the right key, but in music style) and maybe keys work better than random chance, but that isn't saying much. I think people who want fine-grained control of keys, key signature, and bpm, would be best served by using the Upload feaure to create a short audio sample with everything they want, to use as a scaffold. If it's short, Suno will still add a lot of to the sample, rather than just continue it.

Yes you can, try the Audio Upload feature (and be mindful of the agreement you make).

You can upload clips 6–60 sec and any detection of vocal-like sounds will disable the ability to make the song go public (one measure against right issues).

Try to avoid having gaps of silences if you can. Once you upload your audio, which is essentially treated as a Part 1 of a song, Extend it 🙂

It may take a few Extends (and varying the Ext. Time) to get the beat you want

Is there a way or a prompt to make Suno leave enough space in the verses for me to sing or rap over, without clashing with other melodic instruments?

you might potentially want to try generating with Lyrics turned on but fill in the lyrics as something that can't be sung like '~~~~~~'

then suno acts as if words are there but you won't hear anything being sung. suno is usually very 'melodic' so tries to always have a melody - if its not vocals, then it'll make it with instruments, so if you give it "lyrics" the background music is likely to be less busy and melodic, so more suitable for your own vocals. #📚┃suno-school message

or for more technical options, in your editing software, you could try looking for a Dynamic EQ - link this EQ from the instrumental to your voice - then the frequencies you sing will decrease in the instrumental only as you sing them, whilst leaving all the other frequencies alone. so you get a smooth sound where your vocals can be heard without sacrificing other frequencies or when they aren't being sung at all.

Just a FYI: If the image has an image_ prefix, you would append large_ as mentioned previously.

You need to delete the ?width parameter at the end of the URL for both images that do not start with image_, and those that do have them

Ah, duets. Very unreliable. What I do is work around the limitations. As long as you only have single voices singing at a time, you can have a single voice singing all the lyrics, then use something like Logic’s Stem Splitter to break out the vocals and use a service like audimee to change the voices for different portions of the vocals. You could have a female voice singing both the male and female parts, then slice out the male lyrics and change the vocal to a male voice (involves pitching it down 12 semitones, among other things) then putting it on a male vocal track.. It’s a bit of work, but if you want reliable duets, this is a way.

As for character limit. I have had a few songs lyrically that have approached 3000 characters. The AI wants to sing really fast to cram every word under 4 minutes. At that point it is better do build verse-by-verse to slow the singing down. Unless you want the AI to sing really fast. I have also came close to hitting the character limit by just using tags.

The only way to have high quality stems is to generate each part separately with a final bounced to audio mix. Reversing from the mix to stems will always have artifacts and bleed over from the other stems. You have to use an external tool to clean up the artifacts and move them into their respective layers. I like SpectralLayers as IMO it is the best to clean the stems.

Pretty much. Suno does not create anything from stems. So the only option is to post-process "stem split".

It's useful if you just want to reuse the instrumental or vocal inside Suno itself. Otherwise there are external tools as alternatives.

After some experiments, I've found that Suno is VERY good at covering soundfont-based music, so it can turn something like PS1-style music into actual rock covers

The cover feature likely has additional checks & balances -- there's a lot of innocuous content that they don't want to prevent new-and-casual users from exploring, but covers are an intermediate-to-advanced feature, so they need to be moderated differently.

That doesn't change the fact that you're still violating the agreement you made with Suno where you agreed to not use content that you don't have exclusive rights to (public domain or free content isn't exclusively owned, so it's okay in other services, but disallowed by Suno's privately-held ToS)

If you mean:

• the download does not starts soon, simply wait (it takes longer to load wav into the blob due to the larger size).

• you get a download failed message, try using a completely different web engine. (e.g. if it failed when using chromium-based browser like Chrome/Edge/Opera/etc., try with Firefox or Safari instead)

You are better off generating a new instance. If you really love the music though, you can try extending by setting the extend time (I.e. continue time) before the problem word/verse but it will likely change the song from that point onwards.

At the moment, there is no way to correct mistakes like that by editing a small region, you need to redo the entire portion (though you can do a small region fix externally by having the corrected Verse from an Extend and using a DAW like Audacity to copy-paste the region).

It is very likely v4 will have in-filling/in-painting where you can correct errors in small regions but we have no idea when that will come out. The in-filling feature was one of the items the team was lookong into for v4 for quite a long time

If you are asking for a rock song and the song has piano -- except you DO NOT want piano, previously you needed to rephrase the prompt request for "rock" to think of types of rock that didn't suggest "piano" -- this is frustrating, because there was no guarantee.

Now, with Negative Prompting, you can leave "rock" in the Music Style, but now add "piano" to the negative prompts to let Suno know you do not want "piano" included.

As with any generative AI service, this isn't a 100% accurate feature, but is remarkably powerful as an extra tool.

I personally dislike reusing the same prompt in the "Style of Music" section, as I find it is a crude and sometimes unreliable way of forcing a style of music, as it puts such a heavy weight on that specific prompt-word that others might not be respected.

However, Negative Prompting allows you to be VERY selective with what instruments or styles can be excluded from consideration.

When I turned a rock song into a dub-reggae song, I used these as the styles and negative styles.

So in combination with covering the existing song, I told it what I wanted it to do, and told it what I DIDN'T want it to do.

This way it knew I wanted to include lots of ska-related elements, and gave it lots of guitar-related elements to ignore -- WORKED AMAZINGLY

The Audio Upload REALLY is remarkable -- especially when combined with external editing tools like Audacity or https://www.bandlab.com/studio if you prefer to stay in-browser -- if there's an interesting section of a song you've generated, you can clip out 6-60s of it and use it as the beginning of a whole new song 👀

There are many songs I start and only pay attention to the first ~30s -- this means 75%+ of my generated content is a goldmine of content waiting to be editing and produced 💪

I will get something down and then usually go to Pi.ai or ChatGPT to help in adding internal rhyming to make my lyrics flow. The lyrics usually evolve over time as I generate songs by moving versus around or even rewriting multiple lines.

The whole song does not regenerate the lyrics in the individual parts. It only stiches the indivudal parts together. If any of the individual parts did not follow the lyrics when they were generated then the whole song will reflect that.

Are you using the app or browser? If browser the easiest thing to do is to right click Library open in new tab then delete from there. Something might be cached that is preventing you from moving to trash on your current tab.

If it is the app then restarting the app may clear what is blocking the move to trash option.

Using the browser. All other songs have the move to trash button. It's been there a bit and is not generating video or anything.

Duets are the holy grail. There are some things you can try like adding Female/male Singer/vocal or try naming different voices at the start of the lyrics and then using the names in the versus/lines. The AI sometimes follows and sometimes does not. You will burn credits chasing the duet.

Change the beat. Slow, medium, happy, sad... use expressions of human mood.

Emotional could be overwriting sad. Romantic could be overwriting emotional. Ballad may not be helping at all since you're describing a mood. Less is more.

I found the Exclude Style feature quite useful for getting actual strings in scary music instead of constantly getting pianos. I may prompt for a cello, viola, etc., and in the negative prompt I write:

If you've uploaded a song, I presume it has vocals? Those vocals will trigger a content restriction. It's all good, you just can't click Public to make it available for public review/search.

If you've uploaded an instrumental only , then perhaps contact suno support.

When using the cover tool, we may, as I did, presume "well, I'll cover some of my songs I've written" and upload some recordings assuming no issues. But the limits to any uploaded audios with recognized vocals still remain. I haven't seen the notice pop up after uploading audios, but there used to be one referencing if vocals are recognized, then any output/generations would be limited to personal use.

For example, if you generate a song based on the prompt you specify, the platform will create the song in the background and then provide a low quality preview of the generated song so that you can download as a WAV file

But what would be even better, especially with songwriters and music producers is the availability to know what exactly was done to make the song.

For example a write up of what instruments were used. A write up of what samples were used. Possibility a write up on the sheet music or guitar tabs that were used. The fact that this platform lacks this extremely important feature and instead generates lossy material is very silly.

If a user re-record the song themselves, yes the quality will sound amazing, but it will never sound like the original. If they lack the skills of getting that sound the re-recording will sound inferior. This can be frustrating if you really like the generated content, if you are an audiophile and want a very high quality version of the song to enjoy the track to its fullest.

The AI is trained on the audio recordings of a massive number of songs. The prompts guide it to generating based on algorithms it learned. It literally just pumps out sound waves. The sound may be made up of common instrument sounds, synth sounds, instrument sounds that don't actually exist etc. You could prompt just for one genre and it'd include instruments that it just learned the sounds of, without knowing what they are. There likely isn't even any composition involved - again the AI would've learned what sounds work well together, in sequence etc.

Nah, I was having issued with Suno flagging benign words as inappropriate material. Narrowed it down to a single word, "dink" which translates to "think". I think Suno saw it as a reference to the male organ and flagged it.

I wanted to tell them they should let Suno specify which word or words are inappropriate when it's flagged, because I wasted a lot of credits trying to narrow down to the problem word.

Yes, I understand, but that specific word has only one way of spelling it to let the AI pronounce it correctly, if I changed the spelling in any way, not only would the AI pronounce it wrong, it would change the meaning of the word completely. So I had to rewrite that part of the song.

I often change the spelling of words slightly to let the AI pronounce it correctly, but in this case, I couldn't. Anyway. It's solved and I know not to use that word again or any Afrikaans word that could sound like profanity in English.

It seems like something messed up while it was being generated -- you can send the song link to [e-mail] to ask if there's anything they can do, but unfortuntately I have a feeling this one is gone. 😦

Extensions use the clip they're extending from and makes an attempt to continue them.

If you make an extension and enter nothing for the style prompts and only enter new lyrics, it will attempt to continue the existing melody without any changes to style, and will add the lyrics.

That said, you can enter different style prompts to try to add different styles "into the stew", but if there's a strong enough musical hook in the preceding clip, it might be difficult to shift styles. This is where advanced techniques and experimentation come into play 💪 🙏

re: auto-populating the style prompts; Are you using Simple Mode? You have drastically less control over Suno's output if that's the case.

re: extensions; yes, v3.5 is limited to a 2 minute extension, but you can chain multiple extensions together. This can result in weird cohesion if done too many times in a row, so it's helpful to use "Get Whole Song" on your extensions (costs zero credits) -- this way you're not extending from an extension, you're extending from a full song where you've "locked in" everything at the beginning that you want to keep.

This is the most effective and route-one method for building songs in Suno -- instead of trying to accomplish everything as a one-shot generation through super specific prompts ,and getting upset that it doesn't have 100% accuracy for your prompt -- you "lock in" the earlier parts you like by extending off of them, essentially bypassing the parts you don't like.

Yeah -- if you like 0:00 > 0:45, but 0:46 > 2:00 "ruins it", you place an extension around 0:44 and prompt the song where you want it to go.

Negative prompting is a god-send -- if you find that it has a quiet piano section, but you want headbanging metal, you enter "piano, keyboard, soft, melodic, peaeceful" etc in the negative prompts, and prompt for "metal, angry" etc

I'm not advocating that EVERY song should be tackled like this, as Suno can make some AMAZING one-shot generations, but building your ideal song in piecemeal like this is such a cool move 🙂

It was meant to be a sequel to one that got auto-generated, in order to keep the same exact style and lyrical voice I kept the first 2 verses and chorus

It had MANY issues simply following the lyrics.. but the one-shot in a different style hit everytrhing fine the first time, and even before trims, which I think is extremely strange

So I'm fairly new to Suno and I'm loving it so far, but I do have one issue and maybe it is just idiocy on my part. In the style of music section, If I put "Power Metal" I get power metal... if I put "Classic Power Metal" it gives me classic power metal.. but if I put something like "Slow, Dark Metal" it gives me speed metal, thrash, classic, etc.. but not slow or dark sounding... I even tried "Power Ballad" and "Slow Ballad" and it still gives me songs that play faster than Master of Puppets. Any suggestions on this? And have anyone found a way to infuse various genres like say Classic Rock with Mariachi in the back?

Or if literally nothing happens, do the same, but wait about a minute (or 2).... refresh and if nothing still , then, run another extension and it may start working again. I've experienced that and that's what I've done.

Yep should be refreshed to 50 for free members, that is what happened to me.

For exhausted pros, I remember it being an issue in the past where it would not refresh to 50 when someone had 5 but that issue should be fixed by now.

If your credit fails to refill at reset, be sure to contact support when that happens and they should hopefully credit you for the missing days

Yes. I've ignored the message. Clicked refresh and have gotten them to appear. But if an odd chance i get nothing, I don't try again until I wait a couple of minutes. Then I assess what I am doing, if I'm extending an uploaded audio, covering an uploaded audio, extending a cover, and so on. Trying to see if it's what I'm doing and try to repeat it by uploading something else, creating a whole song before further extensions, or so on.

Everything I do may have just a placebo effect, and it may be a system issue, as it is somewhat common. Though I've gotten the message often, I still eventually get my generations. Or they are short and I'm credited.

Have you prompted for [urdu vocals] or [Urdu language] or pasted lyrics in that language to see if it's been trained in those languages?.... from your edit, it seems you've tried some languages already.
