part of this is because everyone chooses to use WCS's mods instead of making even a decent version of their own for creative freedom. WCS knows this and has continuously made changes that restrict players to playing how they think everyone should play the game which makes gameplay worse and worse. Only solution is to make your own mods or find preferred mods as replacement.

Tbh i would recommend you to try the tutorial stuff. It really explains you most of the basic things to understand about the game without some kid yelling in the mic at you.
Once you have an understanding of the game try a community sever (the non stress test one) and try what you learned. Try chatting with some people and they might tell you some more… or they are crazy and yell at you 😂

Additionally.. the game can and will be buggy, this is arma 😂 you kinda need (to develop) a thick skin to deal with some people in game / online in general.
In the end the game maters more about having fun than actually winning (tho winning is fun most of the time) and if a server feels extra laggy or too toxic just hop to another one.
Once you got the hang of that you could tru the community WCS servers with modern gear , quite some are based around the ongoing conflict in ukraine.
Which brings some people with ragebaiting opinions.. and there are (in my experience) more toxic folks around than on a typical official server. But more people are likely to talk over the mic (good and bad)

The fact is that units are not visible at more than 1150 meters, and equipment is literally not visible at just over 1500 meters. It does not matter if it is binoculars or an optical sight or zoom in equipment. All this was tested on a dedicated server and on a local one where rendering is set to 5000 meters. Even in the mission settings it is set to 25000 meters, but the setting did not affect literally anything. I ask those who can to help, because all the interest in the game and ideas simply disappear, since if the infantry is more or less, then the equipment is simply useless.

A lot of those clips are edited to appear more "hardcore" than the server actually is tbh. If you want more realistic tactical gameplay your best bet is to find a milsim or group that does that kind of thing specifically, as public servers tend to almost always be more arcadey in my experience. #communities_arma_reforger is a good place to check, although i will warn you that some "hardcore" milsims can end up being a bunch of 16 year olds larping

IMO the problem is most of the actually experienced players who want a slower paced, more strategic type game are all spread out on random vanilla/official servers. I also think part of the problem is that servers which start out as more serious tend to get inundated with "casuals" until they either die or start catering to the casual crowd and lose their "seriousness"

I think it would take a server carefully curating their community for quite a while and just accepting that their server may be emtpy/low pop half the time for a good, serious hardcore server to really take off. Make it punishing enough that it becomes frustrating to players who aren't playing carefully and weather the storm, so to speak, until a community cements itself

You'd need very active moderation to heavily gatekeep until you gain a reputation for being "not like the other guys", while also actively encouraging players who want that kind of environment. The major pitfall would be coming across as ban-happy try hards who take themselves too seriously

Each time I try, I get this error:

I play Reforger on PS5 & I've got around 1k hours on vanilla/modded multiplayer servers & I'd like to have a sort of story mode to play by myself on the scenarios list, I was wondering if anyone had a mod-list that includes the realistic medical/weapon system or one that I could add that system to? Please find the cause of this bug and fix it already. Many of my friends quit the game just because of this. Are you playing on a modded server? Lots of mods or unoptimized mods can cause crashes and devs can’t guarantee stability there (also could be a bad server host like nitrado, nitrado sucks)

In the end, there are many games played with mods, and we don’t face such connection issues in those games. Besides, it makes no sense to say ‘if it’s modded you may experience connection problems, we don’t provide support’ and just step back — that’s disrespectful to their own product (the game). This is nothing but an insult to us, the fans of the Arma series. Moreover, the majority of players already play on modded servers, because we don’t want to play a game set in the 80s. The real game we’re waiting for is Arma 4, and I know it will feature modern warfare. I do hope A4 will have greater support for modern tech so players don't need to have dozens of different mods and dependencies for every night vision, thermal, range-finder, laser-guided munition, etc., when inevitably modern-era servers become the most played.

Weapon optics in Reforger are a major offender of this currently, especially given there is no way to easily 'split up' assets from an existing mod, with or without Workshop tools. This is a huge reason why every server has like 50GB of assets all dumped into weapon boxes with no rhyme or reason.

@valid venture that is for Arma 3, not reforger, Dwarden does not actively admin/monitor servers, or any BI staff, and Dwarden is the only (so far I know) active 1 for Arma 3 with cheater reports to act, if he has time it happens instantly but when he has no time the bans happen later but also if proof is provided.
Reason for with Reforger having a report system ingame or email, those reports get verified and if needed bans drop.

It’s a glitch? You can’t see who is killing you / no kill feed. I’m just saying you can’t tell who is cheating even if you are in their team. With joining a squad expect leader is invisible. Didn’t know that not seeing who killed you “ was a glitch” it seems pretty far out to go to lengths of recording a session sending it. Getting the server info the time. Where it happened seems like it is way to much for a player to do to report a cheater.

I just hope a different type of system is implemented as far as reporting goes because you can’t get any information. And by the time you send the email, the game is over and the cheater is gone.

Sorry to break it to you: that will not happen, once a fix has been implemented (and hopefully soon) hopefully the results will be many bans when reported, personally i think this is 1 of the reasons why steam familyshare has also been turned off as to many people were exploiting that system.
And about the report system ingame, it is not perfect agree, you want cheaters/griefers/team killer off a server as soon as possible, but most of the ingame reports are from people who also reporting players who have better skills and killed the reporter 🤷‍♂️ Try filtering trough all that........... investigation on a cheater with a clean record, no cheats, just a very good skilled player, and they don't have a 24h helpdesk/admin voor reports from all official servers.

Yeah Medical Prototypes (Dev or regular) add a ton of stuff, heart rate, blood pressure, multiple medications for managing patients hr/bp/etc, possibility to OD a patient if you give meds too much or too quickly

You can go into cardiac arrest and need CPR in order to restart your heart. I had a buddy in game get hit by a ton of frag and lose like 1/3 of his blood, we got him bandaged and salined and dragged him into a building where 1 guy performed cpr for like 7 minutes while we had a huge firefight raging outside before his heart started up on its own, administered epi to raise his hr to help right before he stabilized and we got him out of there alive

Is it just me or when I play a match. Me and my y friend are trying to wij the match by you know delivering supplies, defending and occasionally attacking. And I swear most of the rest of the team are just attacking. Like we are struggling so bad defending this base with 5 Russians attacking meanwhile there are these guys who think there in a movie and there so cool. We ways end up losing.

And this actually happened, the Russians were invading our main base which could lead to them taking over the whole of our bases. And you know what those guys think? "It's fine 2 people will take care of it I don't care" Then the Russians take the bases then those guys aren't even able to capture that base they were because there's no radio connection anymore. I just feel people need to have common sense.

And some people in arma have such hatred for kids. Like there just useless meat bags ready to be killed. Even though there likely to be better than that person in the game.

Like what rather would you what them to play? I mean people make fun of kids playing kiddy games and when they don't that happens like we get it, your a 40 year old drunk who has no life and can't stand the fact that a kid is better than you.

Play the tutorial all the way through to get the hang on the in-game mechanics and systems, then I'd recommend joining an official conflict server and finding a group of guys with mics you can tag along with. After a couple matches you'll basically have the hang of things

He needs to make sure he has the necessary port forwarded on his router and make sure that port number matches the one set in the menu when he creates the session. Usually 2001 UDP. WAN IP will usually be autofilled. Ignore mine as I am Double NAT. Also he needs to make sure there is a Windows Defender firewall inbound rule allowing UDP for Reforger.

Use the ~ button on pc and give the bots the command to get in.
If you have a AI-character astray in the world (you died out and about with the homies) then they will want to get back in to formation first with the lost homie before they will get in the vehicle…
In the tutorial they explain a few things about controlling the ai and more 🤓 don’t mean it negatively but if you’re new it’s worth going trough the tutorial. Even at 40-50 hours in the game i learned a few things from it.

I have a question about multiplayer. When I switch to multiplayer, I only see around 540-550 servers. But I saw on a streamer's channel that he has around 4k servers displayed. I also tried to find the German Rudel server and join it directly, but it can't be found. All filters are turned off. I've already enabled all possible ports in the router that spit out the Internet to Arma Reforger.
Could it be that the DS Lite Tunnel thing is preventing me from seeing the other servers?

This has been beat to death in both directions. People complained it was too dark 2 years ago, then when they changed it people complained it was too bright (it was, objectively), now they're complaining again its too dark. It's nighttime on an island with nearly zero light pollution, its going to be dark. When the moon is out you can see clearly out to multiple hundreds of meters, just use your flashlight, or flares, or illumination mortars, or floodlights

I mean there's two things:
You usually find players at contested capture points or inbetween them... that should be relatively obvious.
Second ranging can be done with binos or the scope. You have to do some math though. Check the field manual. It explains how to do it.
Also mind that now with 1.6 there's windage. 😉

I think you have to up your navigation skills a bit then 🙂
In 1989 there was no GPS yet. So you should be able to gauge your position on the map by either knowing where you spawned and where you moved since then or determine it by landmarks and towns... so read the map features and use a compass and if needed the protractor basically. I'm sure there are videos that explain it well.
Second option is you are familiar with the map and just KNOW where you are

And the 'contested bases' are shown on the map at all times. I mean the ones that mark the front line so to speak are the most likely to be attacked. You just need to physically find them in the game.

If you see an establish base thing on your map and you are certainly there, but can't build, it could be that what you are seeing is the request. It needs to be approved by the commander (automatic if there is only an AI commander) in order to be executed on.

I would assume that you are either not in the right place or the request hasn't been approved/it isn't actually a task.

Also, you can't assign the task unless if you are in an engineering group, but you can still complete the task.

I didn't notice that it severely changed tbh. The name tags were there before. You could and can still cheese it a bit with binoculars. But it's still the way that you should not just shoot at a car coming at you or a helo, just because there is no name. They show up quite later/close only and you can easily TK your own guys.
What they took away is that you as a regular player can see friendly troops on the map. Only SL can see other squad markers now to my knowledge. That makes it more milsim in that regard for regulars, because you can't just look at the map and check if a friendly squad is there. One of the reasons there were so many 1-man squads was that you can see their marker on the map. That is gone now.

most use AI to shoot with mortars ... very sadly. I'd remove that tbh and make it only player operable. With AI it's basically just click on the map where you want them to hit and they instantly aim and start blasting.

It's squad type, and you can only have certain amounts of each type - so you get stuck. You can get all the guns, but any loadout won't 'load' as you have weapons that aren't your class.

@viscid elbow Basically i dont like that i cant just save a loadout, i have allot of limitations on what i can save items with based on my class. I have some other minor gripes. I feel the new map is still far to big for how many players are allowed on it in official servers. I do miss the radio towers acting as a slight supply income.

How is the save scenario option working in Game Master on dedicated servers? Yesterday I went to create a scenario and the save scenario icon no longer appears, only the local save option, but it's gone on dedicated servers.

i dont think its black listing you for certain items based on your class.

its blacklisting you cuz you are trying to save to much stuff over your MSAR limit. to fix that play for a lil bit, rank up and you get more MSAR then you can save more items in your loadout.

I havent played enough with the armory box to know how it works super well but I think they could use something smaller than the armory for spare mags/grenades

i want Bi to get rid of it and replace it with just ammo and ammo related items. though im not one on changing my gear to much as im fine having loadouts pick that for me. I dont need to be a machine gunner with fancy clothing or a different rig. i should be a machine gunner with a machine gunner rig.

Thats mainly why i like the classes so much, i dont waste 2min switching out clothes and rigs and ultimately forgetting to grab binos or a shovel. Switching ammo types isnt that bad for like AP on the m60 for instance, the armory bag is probably underutilized, i gotta play with it more

Squad players who come to Arma? Without even knowing what they're talking about, people waste hours in front of the arsenal, as always, nothing has changed.
The marksmen are simply there from the start and there's no progression anymore.
They even managed to poorly copy the Squad mechanics, where roles are proportional to the number of people in the Squad.
Now it's like Red Orchestra where whoever loads the match first gets the best role, it's terrible.
