The thing is that there is some kind of line somwhere and the question is where you draw it
There are some games where you can't say "fuck" or "shit" without it being chagned to *** and I think that's utterly ridiculous

But for example in this Discord chat you can't say certain types of things like n-word or f-word without your message being blocked, I think that's still reasonable.

The question is how you can make sure the game is a fun experience for as many people as possible. If someone had a "fuck nggers" group name, know that it's almost difficult to get someone like that kicked from a server because you only need a small amount of racists or trolls in a server to counter kick you if they know you initatied the kick. I had a fun experience lately trying to get a person kicked calling everyon fggots the whole time over voice chat and I ended up being kicked myself because of it. Meanwhile, if someone wastes resources spawning a heli while they are not good at flying yet, they'll get kicked very easily. So that's why it's probably just easier to auto-filter certain words from being used at least in text chat.

Why do you spawn a 475 supply vehicle to go from Military Levie to Levie, then leave it there? Why would you spawn a helicopter on a base that is under attack? so i got a dedicated server running Ubuntu for our group, installed linuxGSM, created a reforger server, started it, but it doesn't show up in the server browser. I have the ports on the server firewall open, though, so I'm not sure what I'm missing. port 2001 UDP(game), port 17777 UDP(Query), and port 2005 TCP(battleeye), right?

its better if you have a group to play with. the basic gamemode is only as fun as you want it to be. Arma is better as a sandbox than something with a structured gamemode with "points" or traditional video game objectives

@indigo sentinel gotcha. unfortunately CGNAT is very common with residential ISPs now. if people are unable to connect to your server, check for it by checking your router's WAN interface address. if it falls within private IP ranges (192.x.x.x, 172.x.x.x, 10.x.x.x) then you're behind CGNAT

Also, the server queue size is configurable. Some servers do have it at 20 or less.

don't just vote kick someone making mistakes but try to explain them why they made a mistake or how they could learn to get better
for example: if someone crashes a heli some people just vote kick them while you could tell them to try to do the Training or join a heli practice server
if someone builds unncessary stuff at the base before a radio relay is built, just tell them politely
too many people just start calling people "r*tards" and "stupid" and that doesn't really help
luckily there are many friendly people who will also just explain you some game mechanics if they see you struggling, things like that help new players a lot

A good start with boosting the required votes to kick to 50% but people are catching on that they can simply just LEAVE and come back and the vote will fail... Can you do anything to keep the steam/playerid in memory even when the player leaves so if the vote succeeds they still get banned for 5m? Also I think with requiring 25% MORE votes the punishment of getting half your damn team against you should be 10m ban minimum.

Its a bug, where only one side of the storage is accessible. I noticed it multiple times. But im not sure what the trigger is. Sometimes it works just fine. Storage has a access radius. U can place multiple buildings in a way that u can reach all storage containers through one sign. Maybe the radius is smaller or bugged and terrain confuses the system. Iam trying to get my arma reforger dedicated server running. 192.168.1.14 is the ip of my pc. XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX is replaced by my current ip i see when i visit whatsmyip.com

If your ISP has you behind CGNAT, then you may have to look at an external VPN service to host. I did try it using an Oracle Free Tier VM as a vpn server. Used Ubuntu vm and Wireguard on the server, Debian and wireguard on my test server vm. Worked fine, but I don't need it yet, no fiber internet in my neighborhood, and spectrum hasn't put our copper behind cgnat yet.

Hey everyone, I finished setting up a North Carolina Conflict server, if you're interested in playing North Carolina, which you should be it's a beautiful map. The terrain and elevation changes make for some wild confrontations, and the hidden underground aspects of the map are phenomenal. I recently just bought arma reforger and it’s my first arma game when I first bought it everything was working fine but now when I’m trying to download new mods or update one mod in specific it won’t let me no matter what l do. i’ve deleted all my mods and the game,verified my Files, deleted it from mod manger and everything.the problem is this mod called (RHS-status-quo) when I look in the workshop it says I have it downloaded but when I go to join the server, it says it’s missing and when I try to download it, it gives me an instant error without even attempting to download the mod and then when I go back to the workshop to try to delete it it lets me press OK, but doesn’t delete the mod and is glitched. I really need to help any suggestions???

What do you mean? Are you joining WW2 community servers? Reforger is set in 1989, so all the vanilla gear/guns/vehicles are from that time period. If you want "modern" equipment you'll have to use mods

There's only 1 or 2 WW2 mods, are you using them? The vanilla game is not set in world war 2. You download mods from the workshop or from the server you join, each server has a different set of mods based on what kind of gameplay/gamemode they aim to create

Okay, so that would've been under the Community tab. The Official tab under the Multiplayer section of the menu are all non-modded servers with [Official] in the name, and only host 48 players. Any server that you download files from, has more than 48 players, or is under the Community tab is player owned/operated. If you want to use modern gear i would recommend checking servers under the Community tab for ones using the mod RHS - Status Quo. You can hover over a server before joining and you'll see a keybind hint to display server information. That will show you the list of mods the server is currently running. There are tons of mods with modern gear in them, you'll have to just join some servers until you find some with the type of gear/gameplay/players you want

Not much to do than hope to find a good community server, I know (as example) that within Minecraft that there is a server especially for people with autsime, and people trolling get dealt with: permanent ban. Unfortunately a complete different type of game of course as Arma is and stays a military simulator where people have high expectations, I do hope you find a good server where your brother can just play on his own style and pase. You might want to check out #communities_arma3 as some communties have public but also closed (password protected) servers for people doing training and stuff, so that could also be a option, and who knows maybe 1 day your brother will be running logistics for a platoon during a milsim mission once he (and you) find the right place.

Leave out supportedPlatforms since it'll allow all three platforms with just the crossPlatform set to true, as long as mods aren't enabled. If you enable a mod, the server will automatically drop support for PSN, but will keep it for PC+Xbox. #reforger_servers might be a better place to ask about it though.

So one player is hosting? Then you'll still need to open at least UDP port 2001 on your router, and forward it to the IP (Example: Port 2001 > 192.168.1.25), of the PC hosting the game. In the publicAddress field you should have the WAN IP, internet facing, of your router. That will register the game server in the backend with your public IP:PORT so it displays in the game browser. If you are on say a nice fast fiber internet, then you may be behind a ISP CGNAT and you'd have issues hosting anything. To check that, look in your router settings to find your WAN IP, then hit up something like whatsmyip.org and see if the displayed IP matches your WAN ip. If they match then you should only have to worry about forwarding the UDP 2001 to the IP of the PC hosting. If they don't match then you may have to find an alternative method of hosting a game.

I was playing Arma Reforger last night - all randoms. I joined a squad and there were 4 of us, we assaulted a capture point and were taking it when another group of 2-3 came out of the woods towards the point. We all captured it, then a chopper pilot doing transport picked us all up, and dropped us just outside another point to capture. Battle ensues, there’s grenades, rockets, gunfire, and smoke all over the battlefield. We take over, the chopper lands and then 8-9 of us marching towards the chopper with the smoke whirling up from the helicopters blades. “This looks pretty fuckin epic” was muttered at one point.

You should see the server side of this issue, I have about 80 servers running for Arma Reforger for many clients and a single 128 slot server can chug 600Mbps about 4-6Mbps per player the networking for the game is very unoptimized and has a lot of improvements to be made.

That looks like an asset is downloading i.e you are downloading mods or an indication something is really wrong with your client as that amount of bandwidth usage is high if you are just playing on a server, I'd back out of the server and check your downloads in the game to see if it's trying to update mods.

I'd also check your log files to see what it is doing while the usages are elevated, possibly could try running wireshark to see if the traffic is going to the server itself or if it's related to BIs backend

It goes up to 50mbps mid game at random times.
I would play for 10 minutes then my ping shoots up to 999ms, and when I check task manager it says that reforger is using 40-50mbps as if it's downloading something.
Some people suggested that it's redownloading the mission file, others just think that the networking is unoptimized.
This makes the game unplayable for me sadly. I don't get how or why a client would use up that much network traffic...

Yes, but following up in them takes time as there are dozens/hundreds of reports each day, about cheaters, griefers, teamkillers but also many fake reports with people reporting the better player who won in a 1v1 battle/fight for example, or report people who are just good at the game with statistics and get fake reported as possible cheaters 🤷‍♂️ filtering and checking those reports take time.

It will put your Battleye token in ~/path/to/profile/profile/ownerToken.bin, it'll download mods to ~/path/to/profile/addons, and logs to ~/path/to/profile/logs. Makes life easier then specifying a addonsDir and addonDownloadDir if you don't need to.

Depends on the server, the official WCS servers use the vanilla supply system so you need to set it up at the random supply points to get the most use out of it https://reforger.recoil.org/everon-conflict-supplies/ this is a good resource to find the little unmarked supply caches

In Arma 3 it depends on factors such as difficulty you've set it to, and if you have a GPS etc
To be fair though, Arma 3 is set in 2035 where most things are probably digitized, and a lot more QOL stuff exist for the average soldier as opposed to cold war

Not pulling the "realism" card, it's just I think the direction the devs wanted to go towards (design choice)!
Near-future = Cool tech (thats why the HUD/UI looks as it does in arma 3)
Cold-War = Limited tech (Gotta stick to the basics since there's basically no tech lol)

Hello everyone, I've only watched a handful of videos and a couple streams of Arma Reforger and I really liked the looks of it so I bought it. However when I tried playing I realised just how much I don't know, all I ended up doing was running around where I deployed doing absolutely nothing for 30 mins 😂
I was just wondering if someone/anyone could help me a bit and teach me how to get started, even if it's by a small tutorial you can send a link to or something cause i couldn't find anything significant myself

To be able to speak in the game, you must check that the sound settings are set to default directly in the PC settings.

whats up with the griefing and hacking on official servers?? will they get some admins or can I sign up somewhere to admin a server because this is really ruining the game for everyone.

just a few hours ago I was followed around by a hacker that shot me all across the map, i spawned at different locations and he would show up and spam headshots, this is because I called him out single handedly destroying an entire defending legion of us players at morton base. Then another supported him in chat and wrote HH etc

have it recorded but honestly what difference does it make if bohemia doesnt have someone actively doing something. The game was already ruined for me and the others that were playing. Why allow us who love the game to be humiliated like that after grinding supplies and working our way up to captain?
