I still struggle to think of use cases that require it... and I consider myself relatively well informed around AI developments and use cases. If I'm researching something, it's almost always better to use a Reasoning model with web search, or Deep Research, in my opinion. I don't tend to fill out a bunch of forms or web apps... and when I do, it's usually something like JIRA or Gitlab where the information has to be pretty precise/nuanced, it'd probably take longer to prompt how to fill it out based on what I've been doing.

not that great either imo - as I've said before, it's basically 100 credits per 1 USD - a relatively basic research with web scraping etc by default in PPLX Computer seems to use Sonnet 4.6 and can easily hit 100 credits already. A more comprehensive research of complex topics using Opus 4.6 as the subagents too can easily hit 1000+ credits ime, which is $10 USD just for one answer on a single question.

PPLX Computer seems to execute a "Skill" profile [research-assistant(.md)] much like how you could create in Claude, when your prompt is research related

it's not great because you can achieve this sort of research quality much cheaper, and with Claude Cowork, you can basically replicate it (perhaps even better imo, still testing though) for a lot cheaper with a eg. Max x5 sub

I haven't tested ChatGPT Agent for some months on my use case, so can't really comment on it tbh - maybe it's now the greatest 😛

but again, I think Perplexity Computer will have a good niche

I keep getting this after waiting for like 4 or 5 minutes for an image to generate. Pro subscriber too. Also when it was working it kept generating the same image every single time. I agree with that too, but I think it's due to how they've built their services, in the sense of the way they're allowing the public to access it and how much context they allow each model to remember.

The easiest example is when you use n8n and give an OpenRouter model memory within an agent, the AI companies, open AI and Perplexity for example, are forcing the memory limits. If they weren't doing that, it would be far more capable, maybe not more intelligent, but definitely more capable.

I find it interesting, I asked PerplexityAI on model “use best model” and asked it a world of Warcraft question.

Then I asked it to tell me what AI model did it use on Perolexity AI after it gave me the results, and it responded with ”AI model used for this task was GPT 5.1”

And to me it’s interesting that it can use an older version of GPT, but if we manually choose what model to use, we only get GPT 5.2.

Perplexity doesn't use the same system prompt as ChatGPT, which results in the wrong model being identified. It is not likely GPT 5.1, it's just that models can't identify them properly when that system prompt is different, because the system prompt for those vendors identify which model it is. At least we can't trust the model output to identify itself properly when that's been modified.
