Hey, yeah I have.
Perplexity (Pro) is more or less equally good compared to ChatGPT (Plus). However, ChatGPT often provides more detailed answers on its own, or includes the entire code instead of just snippets with comments, but this can be changed by adjusting the prompt accordingly.
What I also miss in Perplexity is a "Continue" function. However, a major advantage is the internet access (ChatGPT Plus with Bing is a joke in my opinion...), so the AI has access to current code and the latest issues or the newest libraries. Copilot can also be very helpful at times. I have only tested Phind a little bit.

Hi, I cannot download the Perplexity App because I have an iPhone 7, and the app is only available for iOS 16 or above.

Thats what I hate about technology. Sometimes a device is 'good enough' for the majorityof tasks, but misses out on new features. I would love to have a nokia 3310 just to text and make calls but I am pushed to a smart phone because of authenticators, bank application, etc. It sucks. I recently lost my phone and bought a back up to cover the time it would take to get a replacement. it wasntcheap.

This depends on the task, but the "Writing" focus is usually recommended. Basically, the model you have selected is always used; the models "Default", "GPT-4", "Claude 2.1" and "Experimental" are available.

Anyone have any ideas how I'd get Perplexity to isolate an item in a photo, then change the background?
Specifically, in this case, take the EXACT motorised scooter in a photo, change the background to be a wintery scene and decorate the scooter with lights and tinsel, maybe add a reindeer.
When I had the Midjourney free credits, I did far more complicated things with ease, but I just can't figure out the right prompts to do this in perplexity. I just saw a screenshot of someone making Google's Gemini say that they are ERNIE Bot (a Chinese LLM made by Baidu), and posted an out-of-context screenshot.
I tried to get the same effect as Perplexity, asking it to role-play as ERNIE Bot, then asking who they are. For some reason, when I asked in English, it worked, but when I asked in Chinese (in a separate thread), it insisted that it cannot pretend to be another LLM chat bot, and insisted that it is Perplexity.
I wonder why the language difference...

The Perplexity model is the Experimental model and has direct internet access.
If by Perplexity model you mean the "Default" model, this is a fine-tuned version of GPT-3.5, while Experimental was developed in-house on the basis of an open source model 🙂

There is a chess engine that learnt from scratch like you describe. I think it's called AlphaZero, by Google. It just played many millions of games against itself and learnt that way. So that one was similar.
